I enjoyed my time at The Waterfront. It's a nice spot to enjoy views of the lake, even on a rainy day like it was for me. My aunt and uncle, and most of their friends it seems, come here often. It's a bit of an older crowd here, but still worth checking out. Though, make time for parking because it's street parking and there's not much of it close by. I got the soup d'jour which was potato and leek. It was yummy and comforting, especially on a cold and rainy day. The soup was savory and not over salted. My main course was fish and chips. The fish was plump, and the batter was crispy. The fries were on the softer side. I didn't try the cole slaw because I'm not a fan. Service was friendly. I would state that you should come here when you are not in a time crunch. Not that they're slow - I think the food came out in time. But you want to take the time to enjoy the food, views, and company. Lastly, the atmosphere is more on the quiet side, at least for Americans maybe (I guess I'm feeding into the stereotype but also I come from a loud family). I was here last weekend with my family on vacation in Canada. We went here during lunch time for appetizers and it was amazing! Gord and I had supper Thursday evening at the restaurant at the Niagara-on-the-Lake Golf Club. It is apparently the oldest existing golf course in North America ... it opened in 1875. I had a pepperoni pizza and Gord had a Shrimp & Lobster Roll (shrimp and lobster salad, warm croissant, pea shoots). Both were good and I took some pizza away as leftovers. Coffee is solid and gets the job done. Our server was very attentive and made sure we always had a hot, fresh cup whenever he passed by. Don't sleep on the Eggs Benedict! Cooked to perfection with fluffy poached eggs, creamy hollandaise and smoked salmon with just the right salty bite. The avocado toast was delicious too! It was topped with a guacamole-style spread rather than fresh mashed avocado, but the flavor was top notch. We shared both dishes and thoroughly enjoyed each. The home fries are perfect, super crispy and served fresh every time! The service was excellent too. Attentive and friendly, and they let us enjoy our breakfast and coffees without feeling rushed. In addition the server was untrained and could not grasp the fact that an appetizer for one person and soup for the other should be served at the same time. You're basically paying for the view of the water if you dine here. Food was not good and neither were the drinks. After walking along Queen St browsing the shops and restaurants, we found ourself here and decided to check it out for an early dinner since they have outdoor seating on their patio along the Niagara River. I ordered a pina colada, $8, which tasted like it didn't have any alcohol at all. I also ordered a lobster roll with fries, $15 and it was a very bland sandwich. We also shared the antipasto plate, which I assumed which had a two triangles of cheese, some meats, beets, crostini, quinoa, and some other things that weren't very memorable. It wasn't good either. Having a prestigious location on the waterfront always comes with challenges. On a nice day, everyone wants to sit close to the water, some in the sun, some in the shade, some want a small table and some want one with an umbrella. Waterside patio aside, the restaurant at NOTL golf club is a great place to eat. Yes the staff seem a little young and inexperienced and the service can be a bit slow, but if you're there for a quick meal, it may not be the ideal place for you. Having visited this place a few times, I have always found the food to be excellent and the prices reasonable for its location. They do often have private events so for a better experience call ahead and make a reservation or find out if there are any events. On this visit we had the salad with salmon and the ribs with sweet potato fries. Both dishes were excellent. And the service was also good. They seem to employ team service with waiters and food runners. As for the price, they are not unreasonable for it's location. Niagara-on-the-Lake is not a cheap place. But it is gorgeous and worth the small extra for meals at such a great waterside location. read more

Came here on Sunday morning for brunch. It was good with a nice view of the lake. Lots of windows and staff to help out. Staff was friendly and courteous and willing to do group billing with our large party of 13. There was a private all-you-can-eat brunch going on in the same dining room that we weren't allowed to use. It was a bit of a bummer French toast was great but loaded with sugar. Tables were small like you would expect in a golf clubhouse and with a large group, it meant that some people were sitting in the middle of the VDACL of the table. If you are looking for a patio with incredible views, the restaurant at the NOTL Golf Club is a fantastic spot! We walked here from downtown NOTL, it's slightly off the main street but very close. Be warned, it can get cold. We were absolutely freezing.... but they do have blankets available if you need one! There was confusion over who was serving us, so we were left unattended for awhile. If you are seated outside, there is a different menu than inside. You won't get bread with your entree. We were a bit disappointed since we were starving. The food took about 40 minutes to arrive. The lobster roll ($15) was good. The filling was fresh and creamy, but very salty. I had the sweet potato fries as a side. No mayo. I was still hungry after. The wild mushroom and swiss burger ($) looked delicious and more filling. I wish I had ordered it! Overall, the service is a bit slow, but friendly. The food is average. There were plenty of extra tables out there but what ever. The so-called hostess was extremely rude to us when we went inside. There is no excuse I can think of for any establishment to offer such a completely inedible meal as the one presented to me for breakfast on Sept. 7, 2019. Eggs benedict, orange juice and coffee. How hard can that be? Peameal bacon so rubbery the knife would not cut it. The eggs covered with some horrid gelatinous slop that tasted worse than it looked. And since when is orange juice 'brown' (don't even ask what it tasted like). Last weeks coffee. I had eaten here once before and remember it as being quite acceptable. This is a hard review to write ... the views are spectacular but the staff is mediocre. We had a large party with a 45 minute wait. The bar staff was friendly & attentive. Looking for a place to eat while visiting niagara on the lake. Walked Queen street on a Monday and didn't find somewhere that stood out to us for lunch. Talked to a local who suggested the golf course. Had a great view on the water. Waitress was great and food way very good. Had the fish and chips and prime rib sandwich. Welcoming to non-members... The sign says "all welcome" and we were. The hostess went out of the way to make sure we had a water view from the inside since the terrace was not open for breakfast. We had two traditional breakfasts with toast, eggs, potatoes and bacon along with coffee. The bill came to $26 CAN before tip.
