Stopped here for a late night meal. We sat on the patio. They have a nice patio between the sidewalk and street which has maybe 10 tables. Inside is a lot more seating but the weather was too nice for inside. We ordered the Ceasar salad with shrimp, the homemade chicken and veggie soup, and a Margherita Pizza. Their pizzas are brick oven baked and very tasty. Fresh ingredients and the crust was thin and crispy but not burned. The Ceasar salad was good, seemed like store bought dressing which is fine, and the shrimp were warm but would have loved them to be grilled. The chicken soup was very tasty with a flavorful broth. The server was friendly and attentive and the prices are fair for the food quality and sizes. I wouldn't say this is very highly recommended, but it is a great place for lunch or dinner, has some great brick oven pizzas and overall good food. read more

This is a sweet little bistro in the heart of Niagara on the Lake. The staff is very friendly and willing to chat. The menu is nice and provided diverse options. While we only stopped in for soup and salad and to warm our bodies, we weren't rushed. The atmosphere was welcoming. It was our first night in NOTL and we hadn't really planned ahead for dinner. Reviews of Bistro Six-One were good and they have vegetarian options and a great people watching table readily available so we gave them a try. Service was very, very good, especially for servers who have to run in and out and work in limited space. Our server was friendly, was happy to provide a couple of wine samples for my wife and even took a moment to interact outside of the business at hand. Awesome server! The atmosphere was pleasant. Outdoor seating on queen Street with big, red umbrellas for shade and fantastic people watching. They even manage to provide guests and staff enough room to move as tables are close but not uncomfortably so. It seemed odd to us to be at a cafe restaurant in NOTL and order pizza but no regrets. I will admit to being a bit of a NY pizza snob... and to previously saying that I have never had good pizza in Canada. I am happy to say that Bistro Six-One made me eat my words (yes, I meant to say that.) My 10" cup and char pepperoni was quite tasty. Thin, crispy crust, savory sauce, plenty of cheese and, per the name, plentiful cup n char pepperoni. My wife (vegetarian) was quite happy with her Mediterranean pizza sans feta as well. Still not quite as good as our home town pizza but it broke my bias against Canadian pizza and I would happily order it again. The restaurant was at capacity and we needed to wait but we were told how long the wait would be and, as someone with a disability I was offered a chair to use while we waited. The owner Shiela was incredible, professional and lovely. Our server Andrew was fabulous- attentive, great sense of humour and so pleasant. A day out in this neighborhood was relaxing and nice. The perfect weather to be out in a patio. When we sat down, it wasn't busy, but it definitely did. They had red umbrellas for some shade, hence the reddish tone in my photos. Due to the virus, they used paper menus which they threw away after one use. There were two servers for lunch. The washroom area provided hand sanitizers and was clean. My veggie pizza had a chewy crust but in the middle, it was soggy with all the toppings. I'm glad it had a lot, but not being able to hold up the pizza is a different story. I was not able to sub the mozzarella cheese with something else. A disappointment. Other places let's me sub for another veggie. My partner had the fish and chips meal. The coleslaw was good and chunky. Not too creamy at all. The fries were decent. The fish was fried in a different batter than he is used to. Mentioned that the fish was dry. The tartar sauce was adequate. The ketchup cake in small containers with a lid. That was nice to see. We walked in here on a Saturday for dinner and it wasn't that busy. Our server was really friendly and helped us decide which menu items to pick from. We went with a few pizzas and the fish and chips. This is a good sized restaurant with lots of tables throughout. It actually has a decent decor. Once our food arrived we weren't that impressed. We thought the pizza would be chard from the wood oven, but it wasn't at all, as you can see from the pictures. The taste of the pizzas was mediocre at best, we weren't really impressed. The fish and chips had the fish was far too overcooked and super crunchy, and the french fries were soggy and limp. I wouldn't bother to go back here given the poor food experience. read more

We wanted to explore this town on our way to niagara from Toronto and found this spot when looking for lunch space. This is a great spot for a day out and brunch with friends. The buffalo chicken pizza was surprisingly flavorful because my idea of a buffalo chicken pizza has always been buffalo chicken mixed with the sauce not the pizza base to be buffalo sauce. It was a delight to eat every bite of it! The goat cheese wasnt to my liking in the salad though, very strong smell and forgot I dont like the smell. So all my friends who dont like the smell, please ask to skip that cheese. Because the salad otherwise is amazing! I went in and sat down and then about 2 minutes later a person came and took my order and then she went back and about 10 mins later she came back with my salad that I ordered and about 10 more minutes my pizza came and it was so good I could have it for days. I got stuffed on it later on. The Ambiance was great super nice people and wonderful staff they were so nice and super happy. I gave my server a 22% tip for being so nice I went and got her some sponge candy and she was so happy since she didn't know what it was. One of our tour guides recommended it to me and I looked so long to find it and now I found it at the Rocky Mtn Chocolate near were I was eating. I recommend this if you want pizza or a delicious salad this is your place to go. I give this place 5 stars read more

Located amidst quaint shops on a commercial street in Niagara-on-the lake, this place stood out as it advertised Wood Fire Pizzas!!! The outside and inside of the restaurant has an upscale feel. Upon entry though, there is no dedicated hostess, so you have to wait quite a bit to be seated. Upon being seated in a cozy corner, my companions and I decided to try the pizza. We tried the potato & prosciutto, meatlovers and spicy chicken. The cost of each pizza was more than reasonable at $13-$16 each. The size was ample and the price is definitely great in comparison to the competitors wood fire or stone oven pizzas, which retails around the $20 mark in the GTA. The pizza toppings were fabulous and generous! The pizza was cooked just right. The only downside is the pizza crust was average, there's no taste to it really. Service is okay, they came by to take the order, bring water and the order and then bring the receipt and moneris. The usual. They also serve alcohol, offering local beers. It seems that there is only off street parking available and you do have to pay if it is before 8:00. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. I had the fish and chips with a glass of Riesling from a local winery. I loved the breading on the haddock which also included salt and vinegar chips. The chocolate cake was very rich but delicious. Meh. We had lunch here because we were hungry and it had gluten-free options for my friends. I chose the kale and cranberry salad, with goat cheese, chickpeas, tomatoes, cranberries, and a berry vinaigrette. I also added chicken (for $6, what?!?). The salad was pretty big, but I was disappointed in the vinaigrette, which basically looked pretty (it was purple!) but tasted like nothing. The goat cheese and chicken complemented the cranberries well, but I honestly don't understand why there were chickpeas involved. A bit weird. We had to wait for a server to seat us. Once seated, the service was good. I had a veggie wrap, which was tasty. There was a mix up and I thought the wrap came with 3 bean salad and it came with fries. The server fixed it, no problem. The 3 bean salad was pretty good, but had a little too much dressing on it for my taste. It is nice to have a healthier side option. My husband enjoyed his mushroom ravioli and said it was good. LOVE LOVE LOVE!!! Was looking to have a light lunch after our visit to Pellar estates and this place was amazing! My bf and I shared the classic poutine and the chicken Florentine. The poutine: Very nicely seasoned fries, had cheese curds that melted perfectly with the gravy. The gravy was on the runny side, beefy flavour (but it's a vegetarian gravy) and tasted great. I can drink that up. The chicken florentine: Chicken, mushrooms, and parmesan in a cream sauce. Delicious!!! The chicken breast was also nicely seasoned, not too dry. The cream sauce clung to the pasta and made everything come together nicely! Pro tip: add some chili flakes to the pasta for some heat! I would recommend this place 100%!
