I had a Raywood Ash tree and a tall Italian Cypress cut down, and 2 other Italian Cypresses were cut to about 1/3 of their original height. We couldn't be happier with the work Tree Cherubs has done on our yard. We recently bought a house and the plum tree in the backyard wasn't doing well. We had a landscaper we've previously worked with take a look and he referred us to Tree Cherubs. Tory was able to meet with us in just a few days, communicated his arrival time and had a great conversation with us about the tree. He explained what was happening with it and what his recommendations were - both for trimming and treating it. He quoted us for the job and for trimming other trees in the yard. It was easy to schedule the work, he and his team arrived on time and he coordinated with our neighbor on retrieving branches from their yard. They used electric trimmers so there wasn't much noise and finished the job in less time than they'd estimated. He loaded the tree trimmings into our green bin and even CAME BACK to load it the next week (and will keep coming back until the debris are taken care of). The work is beautifully done - the trees are now well shaped and lighter but don't look too "pruned". Tory is a loquacious guy and has a lot of knowledge to share. Tree Cherubs was the third company I called for an estimate on my tree trimming projects: I needed an assessment on an aging fruit tree branch that was precariously heavy and resting on a vertical 4 x 4 pole and hanging over a fence as well as a huge tree that needed trimming that protruded into a neighbor's yard. All three estimates were within $50 of each other (Cherubs was in the middle), BUT the reason I chose Cherubs was Dean's knowledge of what needed to be done. He didn't just chop off a branch that I thought would take care of the problem, he gave me his studied opinion as to why it might not be the best option. His explanations were clear, and he pointed out things that I hadn't thought about but was so happy he mentioned. (One of the other companies agreed to my original plan -- just because I wanted it done.) Dean listened carefully to what my concerns were. Also, both he and his partner offered tips to make the garden more productive and healthy. According to my neighbor who also had work done by Cherubs, when one of the cut branches broke an old pot underneath a tree, Dean insisted on repaying him for it. On the job, they were on time, efficient, and left the area clean and neat, and were professional. I had to cut redwood tree branches that were leaning over the fence from my neighbor property and touching the roof and walls of the house. Dean gave me a fair quote, explained the best way to cut the branches without hurting the trees and went beyond my requirements in order to provide a long-term solution and protect my house from the damage from the trees. All for the same price. He was also very straightforward and determined on the proper legal procedure of arranging things with my neighbor. All for my benefits of avoiding legal issues. Tree Cherubs were very punctual, responded quickly to my emails and did the job with an amazing efficiency. The job was not that simple: trees grow very close to the fence and extra care should have been taken not to damage it and not to damage the fragile plants that grow next to it. We had several trees growing in a thin strip of dirt in our backyard. They needed to go before they caused damage to the property, but they were also growing close together in a small backyard and extremely close to concrete. We found Tree Cherubs through a simple search on yelp and reached out for a consultation and quotation with the expectation of a high price due to the number of trees and difficulty of removing them. They reached out and set up an appointment just that weekend and promised to bring proof of their insurance for our peace of mind. When they came over to examine the situation they were very friendly and walked us through what a full removal, including transport of the trees, shredding, and stump grinding would look like and how long it would take. They mentioned that the job would be somewhat more difficult given the trees' proximity to both the concrete floor and the wooden fence (which matched up with our expectations), but to our pleasant surprise the quote they gave was lower than we were expecting. During our meeting, we mentioned wanting to grind down the stumps of our trees as well, but a bit after our consultation they called back to follow up that with how close the stumps were to both the concrete and fencing grinding would be pretty much impossible, and they offered to take that out of the quote. They also recommended an alternative method of using Epsom salt so we would still have a way of achieving our goal of preventing further root damage to our property. Overall, they were very attentive to our needs, willing to answer any questions, flexible, and pleasant to work with! read more
