Overall: 3/5 Value: Pretty good, $9.95 for a general tsos combo PLUS soup (usually a $1.99 value). Portions were fairly generous with good chicken to rice ratio. Food: I got hot and sour soup, which often says a lot about a restaurant. There was some intention and thought behind their soup - it wasn't simply left over scraps from the day prior poured into soy sauce vinegar water. It was pretty darn good. From the general tsos chicken, it's obvious this is an Asian fusion place - probably with Japanese roots. How do I know this? (Besides the fact that they offer sushi and Japanese dishes?) Easy. They used chicken breast only for their general tsos. Their chicken didn't have random pieces of fat and breading that is often deep fried and thrown into the mix, it was quite pure cut. However, I do prefer chicken thigh meat over breast as it is often juicier after deep frying. The sauce was ON POINT. Way better than the sauces at the other places I've reviewed in Newark. The rice, unfortunately was what knocked it at LEAST 1 Star. This "pork fried rice" had maybe 5 little scraps of cha siu. The rest??? Al dente rice. NOT GOOD at all. Overall thoughts: Would probably still choose this over other local delivery Chinese places so far for its sauce quality and value. But...I have higher expectations for a 4 or 5 star general tsos.

I was looking fo a place that delivered sushi because I was too lazy to go out (lol) and tree garden did not disappoint! They were quick and speedy with their delivery and actually arrived earlier than the stated tracking time which is a nice surprise. I ordered the avocado ball, chirashi don, and beef teriyaki bento box. The avocado ball was delicious, a lot of avocado and spicy tuna fake crab mix. I enjoyed the chirashi as well, their sashimi is fresh and has good texture. Their teriyaki was disappointing unfortunately as the beef was really dry and the vegetables hard and tasteless. The seaweed salad that came with it was also unusually soupy. I don't know if this was because of bumpy road from delivery causing sauce to spill over from the other dishes in the bento box but it made the seaweed soggy and not enjoyable. Overall, I would go back for their sushi and sashimi but probably not for some of the other fusion Asian dishes. Their delivery is on point and I appreciate that!

TLDR; The oil used to fry their tempura was rancid and the waitress refused to take my sushi off the bill. Fake filler ingredients were found in their sushi that did not match the menu description. They also served me microwaved miso soup! AVOID THIS PLACE LIKE THE PLAGUE. Came here with my family for a late dinner around 9 pm on a Friday night because of all the glowing reviews. Boy do I regret it! The food and the plating I got looked NOTHING like the pictures already posted. It looks like they just put whatever ingredients are left for the night in my food or had the amateur chef working the shift. The General Tao's chicken we got was not the right color. It looked more like Orange Chicken with some dried chilis added. It tasted heavy on the tomato paste where as General Tao's is supposed to be more soy sauce based. The worst part was the plate came with a decoration carrot flower which ended up staining my little sisters' fingers red when she wanted to eat it. Why would anyone put food coloring in carrots (decoration or not)? That is so fake! For sushi, I ordered the Snow Mountain Roll and the Hawaii Roll. I was excited because it was $20 for 2 specialty rolls plus miso soup! Should have known it was too good to be true! The Snow Mountain Roll was supposed to have lobster salad in it but lobster was no where to be found. The Hawaii roll was supposed to have crab meat on top but it was imitation crab meat (kani), which by the way is made from fish! The menu lied! I even had to remind the waitress about my miso soup because she forgot to bring it. They must have microwaved it because the soup was heated unevenly and some of the tofu cubes were still cold. The worst part? The oil they used to fry the tempura in our sushi was RANCID! It tasted old like they haven't changed the fryer oil and over used it. My family tasted the rancid oil in the avocado ball but just ate it anyway because we were starving at first. We didn't want to be anal customers. However, when it came to eating the rolls we just could not do it anymore. The Snow Mountain Roll tasted like greasy old cardboard/newspaper, and we started to feel sick from the rancid grease. I called the waitress over and told her I couldn't finish my food anymore because the oil in their food was rancid. She got defensive and said "No body else complained today. We just changed the oil today, you want to check?" I said, "No I don't want to go see your fryer. You don't believe me? Try a piece yourself." She wouldn't and took the plate away which was still half full. She came back with the bill and said "Don't know what happened but we give you 10% off." 10% OFF was $5. No, the restaurant should have taken all the sushi off the bill, if not, made the whole bill free! People could have gotten sick from eating their old ass oil! This is the first time in my life that I let sushi go to waste. This restaurant is cheap and dishonest and lies about what's in their food. Not to be racist against my own people, but I thought fake food problems (e.g. gutter frying oil, fake eggs, dumplings filled with sawdust, etc.) only existed in China! I grudgingly paid the bill but I am going to call Discover and get a charge back. Too bad I could not use my Amex here. I would be surprised that this restaurant stays in business for more than a year. The rancid oil might be a fluke and generally the food wasn't completely terrible, but based on how cheap and irresponsible the owners are, that attitude is going to be their downfall.

This place is definitely a hidden gem! My husband and I moved to the area earlier this year. We are VERY picky about sushi, and always do our date nights at sushi places. We found Tree Garden on Yelp, and it has definitely been one of our best finds. The sushi is consistently delicious and fresh, and the prices are unbeatable. My favorites are the tempura shrimp roll and spicy tuna. My husband's favorite is the shrimp avocado roll. We have had maybe half of their selections and rarely find something that doesn't wow us. We also have had several of their non-sushi dishes, and they have all been fantastic. But we usually order off of their "maki roll combo" sheet, which gets you two or three rolls with a soup and salad for a VERY reasonable price. The setting is modern and clean, the food comes out quickly, the staff is friendly and attentive, and we are always surprised when the check comes- this is the least expensive sushi place we've tried, and the food quality and experience are consistently great. Oh and as you wait for your food, they bring you a bowl of crunchy fried noodle things and some kind of sauce to dip in, and it is seriously one of the most addictive snacks, like potato chips on crack lol. To be honest, I half considered not writing a review because it is such a hidden gem lol! We have never had to wait for a table, even on weekends. The restaurant is kind of hidden away in the shopping center, but other than that we have no idea why they are never busy. So that's why I did want to write a review- a restaurant this great should get the recognition they deserve- even if I risk having to wait for a table in the future haha!

My friend took me to Tree Garden on Friday night. We didn't have trouble getting a table and the service was good. The restaurant is very low key and casual. The avocado ball was amazing and I will definitely order it every time we go there! I ordered sushi and got a yellowtail roll, tuna avocado roll and salmon avocado roll. The sushi was okay but nothing great, i think it may have been better if the rice was more fresh. My friend ordered a bento box which was bigger than I expected and it looked really good. I'll probably try getting some non-sushi items next time.

This place is a hidden gem! The service was great, very polite, and helpful. We ordered the avocado ball which was PHENOMENAL. Also had crab ragoon which was very delicious. I ordered Orange Chicken and my boyfriend ordered General Tso. Both dishes were brought out nice and hot. The presentation was cute and the food tasted great! Their prices are reasonable. I will definitely be going again when an Asian food craving strikes.

We just moved to the area, and as moving goes you have to find all new favorite stops. I found my favorite spot for Chinese food!! The portions are good, prices are reasonable, and the food was excellent. We tried some sushi rolls, and some sesame chicken and fried rice. All of the food was very good! I highly recommend. read more

We tried this place when it first opened and at that point we were not impressed; however we decided to give it a second try. Unfortunately the second time around was very similar to our first visit. The food is rather bland with no flavor. The only dish we have gotten and liked was the boneless spare ribs. Third times a charm? I don't think I'll be going back to find out. read more

I've been debating posting a review, but I think it's important to know. I have had sushi from Tree Garden multiple times (raw and cooked) over the course of the last two years and have been fine, but I got food poisoning (norovirus) after my latest order last week. I had the tuna roll and eel avocado roll, was fine for a few hours, and then was throwing up so much and for so long that I had to go to the hospital for fluids after twenty hours of constantly throwing up and not being able to even keep water down. I'm sure it was just a bad batch of either eel or tuna, but please be wary when ordering. read more

Everything I have had is good. Sushi is fresh and their Chinese is nicely done. Not too fried/greasy. Place is very clean too. I tried their shrimp curry and it was amazing. Hope this place takes off as there are not many good Chinese/Sushi options in the area. Seems like this location has been the kiss of death since Premiums Deli shut down years ago. read more

We went in with very low expectation as it is a suburban Asian restaurant but came out with satisfaction. Sashimi was fresh and the rolls (Volcano & Snow Mountain) were tasty. Most of the patrons seemed to order Chinese food over Japanese. Would hope the Miso soup was a bit warmer. read more

I always feel that all Chinese restaurants are the same but this one breaks the mold. Japanese for husband and Chinese for me...great! He had the sashimi appetizer and passion roll, both were presented beautifully and, according to him, tasted great. I had the Mongolian chicken which looked as it should but didn't have the greasy heaviness of others I've had. Delicious! We got take out but I spent some time inside and the place is ambient and lovely. The staff, friendly. Highly recommend. read more

My boyfriend and I both agreed that this was the best sushi we've ever had! Everything was delicious and so fresh and the prices were great-- 2 specialty rolls with miso soup for $19.99 and our waitress threw in free ginger salads for both of us... she also substituted wonton soup for my miso soup for no extra charge. The place was quiet and clean, but unfortunately the location is somewhat hidden. read more

Love this place!!! Food is very good. Flavor of the food is delicious. The Japanese Bento Box is very filling & the sushi/sashimi taste so good and fresh!! Service is friendly and prompt. Terrible service. Ordered food to go for delivery on a Tuesday. Hour and a half goes by and nothing delivered to my house. I called and was told they are busy. I was never told it would take over an hour for delivery. Owner continued to say we are busy and you should help and come pick up. This is not the first time. They forgot to deliver my egg rolls. I call them and they say they will send them right out. 60 minutes later I get a call to tell me they remember packing them and if I still want them they will be sent after several other orders. Definitely one of the best sushi places in Delaware! Great service, creative sushi rolls and their hot dishes are also delicious. The orange blossom roll is one of the best rolls I've had anywhere. It's a nice place to dine in, and has a great atmosphere, but they also get to take out orders very quickly. read more

We just had dinner. It's a really good restaurant and fairly priced. I had a sushi combo dinner with soup and salad, an eel avocado roll and special lobster roll. It was very good snd big enough to share. My husband had hot and sour soup and crispy shrimp with walnuts, in a cream sauce and steamed broccoli. Excellent. Only problem they brought him the wrong shrimp dish. It was supposed to be crispy shrimp with salt. He enjoyed the dish he got. We also got regular tea but we had ordered green tea. So I would suggest double checking your order with your waiter or waitress. read more

To be fair I ordered two appetizers, dumplings and negimaki. I paid 12.95 and I thought the dumplings were very small and I didn't like them. I think they were from frozen. The negimaki was small too. Based on this I don't think I'll be back. Too many other Asian restaurants with better quality food in the area. read more

This place has served decent food the handful of times I've been here -take out or dine on. I wouldn't recommend this place for a nice dinner with company unless your group is loud- only bc the lady person at front and staff in the back yell across the room at one another in their language... kind of awkward, even though they seem very nice. I would also recommend they hire someone to take orders in the back of the resto so I don't have to hear every order that is called in... this would provide a better dine-in experience for patrons like me read more

The Avocado balls here were so good I would often have them delivered twice a week. I don't know what happened, but they are now half the size and so spicy they were hard to get down. Perhaps a new chef? I will try one more time but please go back to the original recipe. read more

I love this place! It's very clean, and has nice decor that suits the place. Staff is welcoming and attentive , but not super pushy which I always look for in wait staff. Staff is so polite. I am glad I found this restaurant. The food was prepared excellently and it was hot. The General Tso's Chicken was delicious. The shrimp roll was light and flaky and not greasy like some places I've been. Am coming back for the Avocado Ball!! Just didn't have room this time and had to bring home leftovers. read more

I also had a bit of an allergic reaction eating the egg roll so maybe I'm allergic to what's in it or the oil they fried it in. Who knows. Not returning to this place thats for sure. Maybe DE just doesn't have good Chinese food in general.

I always forget to ask them to take the bean sprouts off the pad thai - I prefer cooked bean sprouts so I ask for it on the side hen throw it on the pan before pouring it over my pad thai. Southeast wings and salt+pepper wings are both good. Next time I will just got for a 10 piece instead of 5 of each. I can't comment on the ambiance since they won't even let guests in the front door.

The tofu was kind of overcooked but it had spicy flavor and it has a pretty great smell. I could order from here again. It's cheap. The food and place is better than it looks so go here if you want cheap stuff with good taste.

This restaurant is located in the Fairfax Shopping Center right between Walgreens and Crab du Jour on Concord Pike, and there is plenty of free parking in the lot. When you walk in, you immediately know the place is authentic by the aroma of incense and the mini altars with daily offerings to Ông Địan and Thần Tài. The space itself is clean, spacious, and has plenty of seating. The friendly staff attended to our needs right away, brought us water and menus, and took our orders. I ordered the Bún Đặc Biệt (house special vermicelli topped with a mix of grilled pork, shrimp, fresh herbs, and sliced chả giò), a bánh mì thịt heo nướng (grilled pork), a bánh mì thịt bò nướng (grilled beef), and a bánh mì chả lụa (pork meat loaf). My nephew ordered the Phở Tái Nạm Gầu (thinly sliced raw eye-round steak, well-done flank, and fatty brisket), while my wife ordered the Bún Chả Giò. The pho was amazing--authentic, savory, flavorful, and incredibly satisfying. The bun dishes were delicious and cool, hitting our appetites perfectly on a 90°+ day. So, if you wanted a quiet place to sit and look into your date's eyes, this may not be the place for you. Luckily that is not my issue. The staff were tremendously friendly. Everyone from the person who sat me, to my server, to the three other employees who stopped by to make sure everything was good and handled refills, etc. seemed genuinely concerned about making sure I had a good experience. That brings me to the food. It was breakfast food (i ordered the western omelet). My bread was perfectly toasted the way I like (lightly toasted; If you prefer your bread well done you may want to let your server know first). Home fries were cooked quite well. Just the right balance of firmness without being overly crispy. And the omelette itself was well executed. I will say that the western omelet had a little more salsa than i expected on top but that's not a complaint. It was my first time there and I didn't expect it to have so much. Which leads me to the next point: portion size is great. The omelette, home fries and bread took up my whole plate. If you want to be filled, come here. Price was reasonable: a little over 20 bucks for the omelette, which came with home fries and bread, as well as a coffee and large orange juice. Overall, i was satisfied and I will return.

I love this place! I order delivery at least one a week. The sushi is delicious and fresh. My favorite is the good old fashioned spicy tuna roll.
