"...with a strong hand and an outstretched arm, and with signs and wonders" (Deuteronomy 26:8) My Sweet Lord, if I didn't see it with my own eyes...... I never would have believed it. I've been to more than a few breweries, but never one like this. We saw them by the dozens, walking down East Hill Road "with a strong hand and an outstretched arm" holding their maximum allotment of twelve cans of precious cargo over their heads or under their arms, with looks of blissful joy on their faces. We saw "signs" that said PARKING LOT FULL, forcing you to go on to the next lot, and if that was full too (as they both were today), just loop around and keep driving past the brewery until a spot opens up somewhere and you get waved in. And "wonders"? My experience here was so hard to describe, let alone process... it sure qualifies as a wonder. Like I said, if I hadn't have seen this with my own eyes, I would have thought my buddy was exaggerating. But he wasn't. After the hour long ride into the Monson countryside you'll see what looks like a big agricultural building with a dirt parking lot and an attendant. But what will grab your attention is the foot traffic on East Hill Road where you'll see dozens of patrons walking one way empty handed, and dozens of patrons walking the other way, proudly holding their allotments of beer in their outstretched arms. As we approached the lot, the attendant shook his head, and waved his arms back and forth in a criss-cross pattern- like the football refs do for an incomplete pass. The sign that said "Lot Full" completed the picture. On to lot two -same thing. U Turn and comeback -hallelujah a spot opened u and we got waved in. As we walked toward the back of the property we saw the sheer spectacle that has become common place at what is known as the best brewery in New England. The line ran out the door maybe 150 feet, then made a left for another 150 feet, then made two more lefts, creating a gigantic line that took one hour to navigate. What was very cool was how mellow and "chill" the crowd was. People were chit-chatting like old friends. Wednesday is can day, and two varieties of 16 oz. canned beer were available today. You were limited to no more than six cans of each. The choices were: JULIUS (American IPA - 6.8% ABV) - $6 a can "Bursting with pungent American hops, Julius - our flagship American IPA - is a bright, juicy beer filled with flavors and aromas of mango, peach, passionfruit, and a melange of citrus juice. A soft, pillowy mouthfeel and rounded bitterness ensure Julius will never tire the palate - a true joy to drink!" DOPPELGANGER - American Double IPA - 8.2% ABV - $4.55 a can "This beer is an imperial version of Alter Ego. It is intensely kettle and dry hopped to produce a pungent and flavorful Double IPA that is super pleasant to drink, and loaded with juicy tropical fruit flavors and aromas. We love it." As long and imposing as the outside line looked, the process inside the building went fast and smooth. These guys work like a machine- go up to a table, say what you want, swipe your card, pick up your stash, and walk back to your car. You're really not in the building for a very long time at all. So what did my $50 for twelve beers get me in the taste department? I poured the Julius into a glass and was taken by it's light orange tangerine-like color. Yes, it's an IPA but it had almost none of the hoppy bitterness I don't like. It was very, very, very good. Friday night I dove into the Doppleganger, and if you ever told me I'd be able to finish 16 ounces of a Double IPA, I'd tell you to get off the pipe and put down that wacky weed. But the Dopp was great- with just a hint of the reviled hoppinesss I've always disliked. All in all, I had a terrific time at Tree House Brewing. Worth the hype, but be prepared. Things I wish I had known: Check the website for what's available in that given day. Get there early. Bring games; you're going to be waiting. Bring food; you're going to be waiting. There's a bit of chaos at peak hours, but the aim is to be chill, make friends, ask around, and find out what line you should actually be standing in for growlers and/or bottles. Keep calm and you will be rewarded with damn good beer. It's a special, a little over the top experience, but Tree House is dominating the beer scene in this region with good reason. I drove up on a whim & with the encouragement of a Brew Bud. He was hoping I would immediately agree to trade any spare cans from the days booty. Right...this was going to be a hard trade; this was a special canned release of SAP & Eureka. Despite a drizzly winter day, the drive up was in itself worthwhile, beautiful country scenes & fresh air. Upon arriving at the Tree House (TH) the lot was bustling with TH Groupies. Being my first visit, I grabbed the 1st parking space not knowing the door was still a sizable walk - in the drizzle. As I rounded the corner, I immediately realized I had to man-up as I my eyes encountered a line of about 25 Groupies patiently waiting out in the wet schlock. The wait was shorter than expected assisted by the causal Beer Chat in the line. The facility is a prefab steel barn, but inside a brew paradise accompanied by warm feeling of friends & family. Cool little merchandise section, growler fill bar, and the brewery. I went for broke and acquired ALL 8 cans (limit) of each, SAP & Eureka along with 2 TH Tulip glasses & a big grin. Score! This thirsty dude eagerly drove home, stashed the treasure in the Man Cave, less one of each. The journey came to a pleasurable closure with two new friends. Get here early! There will be a line and you know why? Because the beer is FANTASTIC!!! And the staff - fun, friendly and enthusiastic about their beer. It is a small location off the beaten path, but it is well worth the drive if you are in New England. As you stand in line, anxiously counting the number of people standing in front of you (hoping they don't run out of what YOU want), one of the staff members will be going around handing you slips of order paper - 1 per person (adult! can't fill one out for a child - even though some dude tried to get a slip for his 7ish year old daughter). He or she will tell you what is being sold that day and what the limits are per beer. Listen carefully...also, recommend doing research via their http://treehousebrew.com/ the day or two before you visit. They ONLY will fill their bottles, without exception. If you are new, like we were, you will need to put a deposit down for the bottle(s). You might experience sticker shock, but again, small business, limited production and delicious beer - it is WORTH it! When the opened the doors everyone patiently entered the building in an orderly fashion. There are pours available to the left and you can hand a staff member your slip once you have completed it. Be sure to mark on your slip whether you have a bottle you are bringing back - this will save a lot of time. Sip on some pours, look at the swag on the racks and walls. Great glassware, t-shirts (men and women cut), sweatshirts and stickers. To the right when you enter the building, there is a an area to stand or if you can get one of the lucky stools, there is a little shelf with chips and salsa as well. While you wait, one of the brewers/staff will also take small groups over to the brewing building for a tour. You truly feel like a VIP here. They accept credit cards and if you add a tip before checking out, they will ring an overhead bell and yell, "BIG TIPAAAAAAH" The staff filling will yell, "THANK YOU!!" It is worth tipping. Juice bombs, juice bombs, juice bombs. I live an hr and a half away and have been many times. This is the brewery to go in the New England area. Everything I've had is good or great. I've tried: Bear, Dopplegager, Lights On, Curiosity 28, Julius, Alter Ego, Haze, Eureka, Bright, Bright w/Citra, sap, hustle, pride and purpose and (my favorite) Green. If you get lucky enough (since the beers r on a rotation) buy Julius in a Growler. Freshest beer I've ever tasted. Cannot wait for their larger facility to open this year! Run dont walk to Treehouse, they are grade A. Times to go: Late Thursday or Friday night. Dont listen to the ppl saying go early Saturday morning.. NO! STOP THAT! Ive been a handful of times LATE at night 7/7:30 cuz they usually close at 8. Barely a line, but most of the time no line at all. I went 2 Fridays ago and there wasnt a line for growlers or cans INSANITY i know ! To the select few moaning about the communte. No one forced you to drive to Monson you over-privallaged yokles! Such a dumb complaint. Treehouse obviously wasnt built for you. If it makes your lazy rumps feel better they plan to expand to Boston someday, but im sure your test of patience is lacking in time just as it is lacking in distance. Good riddance! Tree House makes great beer. I don't think there's any denying that. You might not like the weight or the cloudiness. You might even be bored with massive amounts of citrus and tropical fruit aromas in the IPA category. But these are remarkably well made beers. They also have almost no distribution. So if you want to drink Tree House beers, you have to come to the source. And people come. They come from all around. Thus the lines. What is debatable is whether or not waiting in the line is worthwhile. And a further question is, if you've waiting in line for the cans, does it make sense to hang around even longer in the growler line to pick up a small handful of bottles? It's not even a question if you come on Wednesday, because that is the day they only sell cans. And if there is a specific Tree House beer you want to try, you may find yourself out of luck, because all beers aren't available all days. Personally, I'm fine with that. But others might have their heart set on a Julius or Haze or Green and find themselves leaving with none at all. I've been twice, and each time the maximum number of cans I could buy was a dozen. So I bought a dozen. The 12 pack varies in price, but it's somewhere between $40 and $50. The price is the price. Great beer isn't cheap. My struggle is with the opportunity cost. Because the thing is that there are some freaking fantastic beers out there in the marketplace that don't require a two hour drive and a two hour wait. However, there are some people who like to visit breweries. If this is your hobby, go for it. Heck, even if you are a casual beer drinker, it's probably worth doing once, just to taste it and understand what all the hype is about. Me? I'll be back. But that's only because I drive out to Providence periodically, and it's not too far out of my way. And if I can time it right, and get there on can day after the line has died down a bit, I can get in and out relatively quickly. The growlers are great, but man, waiting in line is beat. read more

I had drank their beers before, but going to their brewery was a great experience! We drove from NY and arrived at 8am for the 11am opening. We were third in line! We put our coolers in line and stayed warm in the car for 30 min or so until more people started to arrive. Once we got in line, some folks started to make a fire in the custom treehouse burning barrels to stay warm. We made a few beer trades with others from different states hat brought their local flavor with them! Both parking lots filled up and they started taking orders 60 minutes before they actually opened to get people out of the cold. The treehouse staff have this down to a science.... everything is extremely efficient... everyone is positive and friendly... it was a warm and welcoming experience and it was so streamlined! We were in and out by 10:15am with our cans and growler fills. This may just be the best beer on planet earth. It may also ruin all other beer for you so be forewarned! Words are not even a fair way to describe this brewery. You'll never understand until you go experience the amazing staff, get home with that first growler to drink, and then, as you drink that nectar of the Gods, plan when and how you will be able to get more because you cannot live on this earth without more Treehouse Beer. I stumbled upon their brewery online when I was in MA one day looking for things to do. Now, I'd call it fate. I was into dark craft beers and enjoyed coffee stouts and rich porters solely. But there I was, the That's What She Said stout I had come for ran dry, and I ended up with a tiny cup of Haze to taste. It was the first IPA I had ever fallen in love with and after I drove home and drank that bottle a few days later I couldn't believe how dumb I had been to only get one. Since then, I have tasted plenty of IPAs in a hunt for something like Haze but nothing compares to Treehouse. Recently, I made a 7 hour round trip for beer. I left with TWSS, Double Shot, Sap, Eureka, and Very Hazy!!! Their beer is even better than I remember. Very Hazy is a heavenly IPA where you take a sip, close your eyes, and wish that moment wouldn't end. Double Shot is an amazing creation as well - it makes me think of fresh espresso (and I love dark coffee too). I still have beer left and I'm already organizing another 7hr trip for when I can get more. I imagine that, if I lived closer, you would never find a beer that wasn't brewed by Treehouse in my fridge. Now, if the beer wasn't enough, let's talks about the people. They are amazing. They are friendly and fun and want to do what's right for their beer (co2 purged bottles anyone??). The wait for your growlers is entertaining - thanks to Dean! But I've also spoken to most of the staff, including Nate, Lauren and awesome others, and they are really down to earth and take the time to talk to those who care about their beer. Going to Treehouse is more like hanging out with friends, not just getting bottles filled. I read an article on the top 25 new breweries that you should know and Treehouse is on it. That article certainly got it right. Anyone who gives Treehouse less than 5 stars certainly got it wrong. So we finally made it to Treehouse. Let me tell you what, it has been worth the wait. Now mind you when you go here, the lines will be long, regardless of when you get here. That being said it is a smoothly run operation. I highly suggest when you go to put in your growler fill request and then move on to purchasing your cans/bottles. A lot of people complain you cannot taste beers or buy pints or whatever. They may not have a license to do so and also, they are a small operations. I wouldn't want to try to hand out samples of anything with the amount of people that are in that small space. Come on peeps, lets think this through. Besides that, the beer is phenomenal. Straight dank, hop juice. The quality of the brews are unreal and they for this type of quality the prices is right. I will continue to come here and support this brewery. read more

Great beers in an amazing atmosphere. Tree House Brewing is 2 hours from my home in RI but I made the trip recently on a Thursday with some friends. I ended up meeting them late & my friend who always goes was worried we'd be waiting in line forever. Fortunately he was wrong. We ended up getting there just before 6 & didn't have a crazy line. Maybe random Thursdays are the time to go. We got free samples which I'm assuming happens all the time although some other people there weren't sure if/when they started it. All the beer I sampled was pretty awesome especially the Eureka & Green. Prices for growler fills were on par with other breweries I've been to. Mass requires breweries to only fill up their designated growler so I had to purchase one for $6 an with beer it was another $8. Not bad for some world class brew. The only drawbacks I can imagine are huge lines when they release Julius and/or bottles. There really isn't any parking in the area so expect to park on the street. Plus there are no signs pointing you in the right direction so having a GPS is highly recommended. When you do find Tree House it will be worth it! read more

Being a bit of a beer geek I am Always looking for a new one to try. I kept seeing this place treehouse being mentioned but hadn't wanted to make the Drive. I'm glad I did. This brewery is located in a farm and is very cozy and cool to look at. It's very rustic and there is plenty to see if You walk around for a bit. As of now this beer is not found in stores so you have to go to the brewery to get it. You can purchase , or refill growlers, or Cans. As it was midweek it was not busy at all and the staff was very welcoming. They took the time to explain each kind of Beer with a great description. I got a few of each kind. Price wise they are between $3.00 and $3.75 a can. To non beer drinkers this May seem pricey but it's a reasonable price range for good quality beer. Plus the cans are larger than most. One beer they are known for is Julius. As soon as I got to a place to crack one open I did. And oh man. It's like heaven in a glass of a warm hug. I get now why people drive so far to Get these Beers. This was the most delicious beer I have ever had. It was fresh and hoppy and tasty. Anyone who loves beer needs to come here and try it at least once. You won't be disappointed. read more

After having sampled a variety of Tree House Brewing's beers at the American Craft Beer Festival, I was hooked. And by hooked, I mean that the second I had a sip of their flagship Julius IPA, I was completely obsessed. Delicious, balanced and incredible, I needed more of it in my life. More of their other offerings as well. So on one fall day, my wife and I filled up the car with some gas and took an hour drive, from Boston, out to Brimfield to go check 'em out. We easily got to the place thanks to our trusty GPS and arrived to a nearly full parking lot and a tiny red barn bustling with people. Their story is quite interesting but in a nutshell it's a family who had a few members start the brewery up. Their's still considering a nano brewery as they only sell through their own retail outlet and don't distribute anywhere. However they are rapidly growing and have quite a following. Right now they brew and sell from a barn which is on the same property as their house. It's quite stunning out there and very tastefully decorated. There's even a koi pond and a nice little - you guessed it - tree house. It's very warm and welcoming and they're a friendly bunch. With that said, there's having growing pains. They've outgrown their current space and they are going to be moving, by winter's end, to a new, bigger property about 7-10 miles away, West, from where they are. This will enable them to brew at a higher capacity in order to match their demand. Presently, especially on the weekends, they frequently run out of beer and/or you'll find yourself waiting in line, sometimes as long as 1 hour+ to get your 750ml bottles or growlers filled. Is it worth it? Sure. Annoying? Absolutely. We decided to put a deposit down for five 750ml bottles and got 4 of their beers. Unfortunately for us, they ran out of Julius which we were very much looking forward to having but we were still able to get some of their others like their Space & Time Stout, their Sap IPA and 2 different versions of their Eureka IPA. One regular Eureka and one brewed with Galaxy hops. All four beers were excellent and despite the long waits, they did take the time to include a boost of nitrogen (I think?) into the bottles so that the beers would keep longer. Something that not all breweries do. If you're a fan of craft beer, this is definitely a must-go-to spot but do plan your visit ahead and get there early as they, as I said, do frequently run out. Their selection rotates quite frequently as well so that's another thing to keep in mind as you may not be able to get what you had planned for. They do a good job updating their site. As far as prices, they do vary depending on the beer but unless you already own Tree House Brewing bottles and growlers, you'll have to pay a deposit for them. It's the law. Lastly, don't expect to be able to try their beers on the premise. They're not licensed for it. If you want to try them you'll have to consume them offsite. My recommendation: Drive to BT's Smokehouse in Sturbridge. It's a 10 minute drive and is one of the best BBQ joints in New England. You can BYOB there and chomp down on amazing, affordable food. read more

So my husband is having a love affair with Tree House Brewing. I'm his current mistress. The process is a bit crazy for those who are used to stopping into the packy and picking up some Sams. The Brewery is open Wed 12-5, Thurs & Friday 5-9, Sat (Varies) for sale of cans & growlers. Check site for different hours, availabilities. I have been three times now and the crowd is so great! The vibe is wonderful, the setting is full of games for waiting families. We have waited up to an hour in line and last night got right in without a break in our step. Beers are amazing of course. Otherwise why would we drive almost 2 hours and wait in the heat for an hour? I prefer the Eureka but Green has a delightful brightness as well! Hope to see you in line. read more

My wife and I have made the drive from Boston more than once, 1.5 to 2hrs one way. Often there's a lengthy waiting process upon arrival, made bearable by the friendly and excited crowd. Occasionally, there's no wait and the process only takes a few moments. Regardless, the beer sold by Tree House is worth this effort. Bold flavors on top of bold flavors in every can or growler. I consider all of their IPAs juicy hop bombs, balanced not bitter with a creamy soft mouthfeel. read more

I was a little surprised about the hype of Tree House Brewery. The day I was able to visit, they only had their blonde and 4th anniversary available. Kind of disappointing I think, especially when I finally made it into the building I saw pallets of their other, apparently better, offerings. The blonde ale was Eureka w/Citra and for a blonde it was good. I have yet to try the 4th anniversary, but I hope it's not over-hyped. read more

For those of you who are unfamiliar with the ordering process, you enter the premises, go to the bar, fill out the order sheet, hang onto your growler/order sheet and wait inside standing up for an unknown amount of time until they call your number on Saturdays. Their IPAs are pretty solid but they need to get their act together on service. They are a small brewery, doing really good business. But on a busy Saturday, we waited for almost an hour to find out that they wouldn't fill our 2L growler. When we entered the brewery, they had 2 kinds of beer available. The limit was 2L on the one we wanted to try and 750ml on the other. 40 minutes later, they ran out of our top choice. When it was finally our turn, we asked if they could fill 750ml of the other beer into our 2L growler, they said they couldn't do it because of oxygenation. We told them we didn't care as we would drink it in less than an hour but they insisted on selling us their 750ml growler. They need to realize that people are going there to buy their beer not growlers. We ended up not buying any thing. Overall, I'd probably drop by in a weekday if I am close enough but it isn't worth the hassle on Saturdays. read more

How I imagine a conversation amongst the brew staff at Treehouse Brewery: "Dude, there's so much hops in this people are going to know you're just yanking their chains; they're going to figure it out you're having them on." "Yeah. I know. Hey, let's add more hops!" Don't get me wrong, I love a good hoppy IPA, but it's possible to have too much of a good thing and that ain't no good thang. I've had 3 of Treehouse's offerings: Lights On, Green, and Julius. The Lights On is OK; comparable, if you will, to some of Lagunitas' hoppier offerings. I poured two of the Greens, then sold the rest to a friend who can't get enough Treehouse. Julius went down the drain without even finishing one can as one of the most unpalatable, off-flavor hop-bombs I've ever encountered. The side of the Julius can was one of the most entertaining things I've ever read: "loaded with notes of passion fruit, mango, and citrus." No. The only flavor here is hops; hit you upside your head with a baseball bat and twice on Sunday with hops. Even more so with the Green. All you get is hops. These beers are not subtle. Seriously, I don't get it. At this point, I think for a lot of people it's just for bragging rights. You drive at least 45 minutes to the middle of nowhere, get out of your car, and the air is redolent of hops. You wait on line 2 hours (!!!), get inside, and the place reeks of hops. You finall y get to buy your rationed quantity (!!!) of beer and drive 45 minutes home, and your car stinks of hops for a week. Hops, hops, hops. That's the only lyric being sung here. Where's the appeal? I felt fairly alone in my reaction: "I can get better craft beers at the local package store for less money, no wait, and which express far greater lyrical range" was something best kept to myself. Then my college-age son tried Green. His description was perfect. It was, he said, like drinking beer potpourri. Postscript Wow. In an amazingly short span of time, this review has generated a startling number of vituperative "compliments" thrown my way. "You're an idiot," "Your (sic) a f@#$ing moron," "Go back to drinking Budweiser," amongst others. "Idiot" I'll own, it's true, I am an idiot but "moron"? That's just hurtful to a good number of morons who would object to seeing me placed within their ranks. As for Budweiser, ouch, dude, that really hurt. Oh, the irony of the invective really just proving my original point. read more

WITHOUT A DOUBT the best brewery in New England (that's right, Vermont) .... and possibly America. That is not an exaggeration. Everything about Tree House is amazing. Their story... their vision... their staff... their logo... their beer-loving clientele... every single beer they make! The place has gone from a small startup to an absolute world class operation in only about 3 years. I would normally recommend a few beers of note, but you LITERALLY will not find a bad beer offering from Tree House. For the "newbs", here's everything you need to know: - they release different beers each week. Typically 3-4 beers available in cans, and 4-5 growler fill options. Obviously limits are imposed to allow them to serve as many customers as possible. - they recently opened officially for Wednesday afternoons (12-6, I think). They ONLY SELL CANS on these days. It's great because you can shoot over there during lunch or a break to load up on the delicious libations. There are usually 2 different can options on these days. - Thurs, Fri, Sat they are running at full capacity with cans and growler fills. They also usually add in a 3rd can option on Thurs or Fri to make it extra interesting. One thing you should know is that they often run out if cans by either Fri or early on Saturday, so plan accordingly. - if you arrive early, you WILL wait in line. It's actually better to come towards to end of their hours once the crowds have cleared out. - you can't drink on the premises due to local regulations, so don't show up expecting to grab a few pints or drink in the parking lot. It won't happen, and they take this very seriously. You'll have to wait till you get home to crack one (all of them) open ;) - anyone who hasn't rated Tree House with 5 stars knows nothing about beer and should be slapped. That is all. Damn good beer. They've been around since 2011 but have been KILLING the beer game. I only started enjoying their stuff late last year. And if you talk to any beer snob or beer connoisseur -- Tree House Brewing is solid. The drive is easy, it's a bit off the beaten path -- so put on a good album. Currently, THBCo. only sells beer from their brewery -- you wont be able to purchase it anywhere else. They also don't have a liquor license, so you won't be able to drink at their retail location. Cans fly off the shelves quick fast, so be prepared to choose from either their 750ml bottles or 2L growlers. Service is always friendly and knowledgeable, you won't leave without having met some real down to earth folk who love their beer! FYI Wed: 12-6pm (can sales only) Thurs + Fri: 5-8pm Sat: 11am-6pm Massachusetts state law says that growler refills are possible only if the growler came from that brewery. You'll be out of luck if you brought growlers from CT breweries. There's no way around it, so you'll have to buy their containers (out of state containers are not permissible) read more

What an experience!! We arrived on a Saturday morning about 75 min before opening and were handed numbers 199 and 200 and a menu of available options for the day. WHOA--this stuff must be good! They opened early and the process moved like clock work. Within about 45 min we each had 2 cans of Very Green. A couple hours later we had 6x750 mL bottles of Lights On and Alter Ego. This is a small, well run, farm brewery. They have a number of picnic tables, cornhole, and a large koi pond to entertain the kids during the wait. Now onto the beer---100% worth the wait. I'm a picky IPA lover..i do not like that bitter aftertaste. Well, these are the smoothest, most delicious beers you'll have the privilege of enjoying, especially the Very Green. Make the drive, be prepared to wait, and ENJOY the beer! read more

Tree House is currently making the best beer in America, and possibly in the world. That is coming from me, a supposed beer "expert" according to various research publications, given that I have formally sampled and reviewed over 9,000 beers since 2008. Visiting Tree House needs to be put in context. The beer is the best in America, but your long journey to this secluded farmhouse gives you back nothing except a few samples and growlers to take home. That's it. It is a farmhouse growler filling station. You can't just hang out here for awhile. The closest food nearby did not look appetizing and your choices are very sparse. So in general, the venue is a small, beautiful, picturesque farmhouse. The food is absent. The bar and drinks are limited to sample pours. The location is certainly "middle of nowhere." So be sure you know what you are getting into. I would normally never rate such a glorified "growler filling station" 5-stars, but Tree House truly is exceptional. If you are after the best beers in the world, you should highly consider visiting. read more

Beer worth waiting for in the rain! They have some really unique brews, especially juice bomb IPAs. So juicy you can't tell it's an IPA. Really popular style right now and they nail it. They are pros at selling out every weekend. They handle the crowd nice and efficiently, but also kind and welcoming. No tastings, get your beer and go. After the drive/wait you'll be itching to get home and try some anyway. Some that I've tried so far: Julias: Their juiciest IPA yet AFAIK. It's like a hoppy orange citrus juice bomb. A great job on this style. Really well done. Green: More hop-forward, it's not as juicy as Julias but it's still got lots of citrus notes and a sweet finish. Green is like the middle of the road between Julias and: Haze: My personal favorite so far, it's an excellently balanced beer with more passionfruit than orange. It's the earthiest out of the 3 I've had so far with a nice oily hop finish. read more

You're here for beer. You took the back roads. You're willing to pee in a porta-pottie. You're willing to wait 1-2 hours for beer. Walking in, step to the back to fill out a form for what you desire of their delectable brews. Look at the front if you do not know what is on tap. (Although their website is constantly updated). Most importantly, their beer is incredible. Outside of Vermont, I haven't had a hoppy beer better than their Julius IPA. There's a wonderful atmosphere with old school rock in the air (La Bamba, Elvis). The staff are friendly and apt at joking around. It surely makes the wait go by faster. Tree House has some of the best beers around! They have what is sought out to be the BEST IPA in the country at the moment. What a super cool place, once you make it through the door. A group of friends joined me on a Saturday brewery trip. Tree House opens at 11am on Saturdays, but people start getting in line for their beers as early as 8am. People drive from as far as Vermont to purchase their beer. On their website they advise customers to be careful driving on the back roads they are off of due to the fact that they are narrow and curvy. Please heed their warnings and go slow. The parking tends to be tight and there are employees directing people in and out of their lot. We arrived at about twenty after eleven and there was a long line. We ended up waiting in line just to get inside for about an hour. When we were standing in line, an employee came around and provided us with growler fill tickets where we were able to list the quantity, size, and variety of beer we wanted. Once inside, the line for purchasing beer in cans went fast. There was a large group of people waiting for their growlers to filled in the general bar area, which made it difficult to move around. The wait for growler fills was hours at around 12pm that day. When paying for your beer, you can pay with either cash or card. Keep in mind that you are only allowed to purchase certain amounts of their beers as specified on their website. Before making our trek to Monson, MA, I was able to check online to see the daily offerings being poured and sold in cans. Tree House is really on top of updating their beer lists. Online I was able to see the offerings for that specific day, along with the additional information about each beer. A word of advise for those of you who have never been before, in the State of Massachusetts growlers from other breweries are not allowed to be filled on site at Tree House. If you plan on getting a growler filled, you will need to purchase the glass there at the brewery. Overall, it was a great tip. The brewery itself have a really cool, whimsical feel. The staff is very knowledgeable and helpful. I would say try to visit on a week day versus the weekend, it tends not to be as busy. read more

Ok. I'll be that 3-star person. Sorry. Beer: Tree House is as amazing as everyone says. We were only able to pick up the Native One and the Single Shot Coffee Milk Stout. I have also tried one of their IPAs before. Everything is great and you can tell that their beer is a much higher quality than other breweries. If I'm basing this solely on the beer alone, they would easily get 5 stars. Premises: If you live in Boston, it's a trek to get out here. An hour and a half drive, without traffic, and you arrive in the middle-of-nowhere Monson. If you want the best beer, you'll have to go right when they open or even before, which is 11 AM on Saturday. And apparently on Wednesdays when they sell cans only, lines stretch all across the parking lot. Everything else: I will say that I was bummed that we weren't able to even TRY the beer before buying it. We arrived at 3 PM which is late for Tree House and were told that the supply was running so low that they wouldn't give out tastings and that we could only get 3 bottles a person. Not to mention the fact that you can't drink on the premises, period. Even after you purchase your beer. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable but I will have to admit the overall experience was anticlimactic. Driving for nearly 3 hours total to pick up 3 bottles that we couldn't even drink right away seemed lame. I hope in the future they can secure a liquor license so people can picnic and drink there. Oh and forewarning: they don't have real bathrooms. So enjoy the porta potties outside while you wait! read more

i wanted to love this place as much as others, but didn't. for now, i just mostly like it. 1) please- read the other yelp reviews, and thoroughly read the website before you go. there really is a system in place in terms of lines, order cards, etc. that said- we still needed to ask for help when we arrived. the person helping us (she was taking care of the "can line") was enormously helpful, but... she probably should have been situated at the entrance, to help anyone who needed it immediately, instead of us feeling a little foolish in asking her. 2) there were only 2 draft beer offerings for growler fills that day, and one kicked as soon as we entered, around 2:30pm. we were only able to taste the curiosity twenty. it was okay, but we're not double IPA fans, so getting a growler was out. 3) julius. plentiful in cans, and much more friendly on the palate (we came to learn). each patron was allotted up to 8 of the 16 oz cans. we ended up with a total of 12. this really is a very yummy, citrusy beer with good mouthfeel and substance without being too much. a perfect summer brew. at $3.75/each, these were more expensive than the mass produced variety, but still did not break the bank. 4) swag. it's all really cool. it's also on the expensive side. 5) setting. the brewery was apparently started in the backyard of one of the owners, and there was a koi pond and waterfall. both are currently being reconstructed at this location. while our experience was good, if a bit disorganized, i would love to come back here in a year or two, when the production is more established, and there is a better, more accommodating system for patrons. this spot has the potential to be the end all, be all when it comes to midday outings at a brewery. the venue is scenic, the beer (what little we know if it) appears to be good, and the people seem great. i will say, in testament to the business, they have a very loyal following. we had about a 45 minute drive, but there were cars in the lot from maine, new hampshire, and points further south (i'm from CT). we will be back, but, respectfully, it won't be our first stop on our list. read more

Crazy lines, but what can you do? The beer is great, and I ain't no foo'. Some of the best in all of New England, This stuff can make a person sing, man. I am basing this review off of one single beer: Alter Ego. It was one of the most delightful IPAs I have had in a while, and I am glad that my fridge is now full of cans of it. Very fresh with a perfect blend of hops. I like. I was unable to try any other beers because the line for growlers was over 1.5 hours long. There is a separate line for buying cans (tall boys), but they were sold out of all but one kind. People seem to like this place. When you arrive, park anywhere in the lot, go inside, get a sheet of paper from the guy at the bar, and make your growler selection. Then hand in the paper and wait...possibly outside since it gets pretty crowded inside. Or just get some cans and drink them at home, which is what I did. All of the employees that waited on me were extremely kind. They also told us that we could do a self-guided tour of the facility if we wanted to. I am told that this place has grown so rapidly that they have continuously been forced to move into new, larger venues. That looks to be the case yet again. Congratulations on your success, Treehouse. You deserve it. read more

If for nothing else the "cult like" experience of lining up, filling out order, getting can limit and talking with everyone there is worth the trip. One of the regulars took us under his wing and led us down the path that is the experience of micro brewing. The owners were a pair of the most delightful fun people. We bought Lights On and it is a citrus type of brew but light in texture and has a nice finish. Haze is a bit heavier but still light. Have not tried the others we bought but looking forward to them. There is can limits one can buy and then it is sold by the growler. If you do not bring back their growler to refill you will like us buy them. Nicely done growler bottles in two sizes. This is a must do if you like beer and are in the area. read more

My husband and I can't wait for Tree House to open their new facility!!!! It may be a long wait in line now but it is WELL worth it. Great selection of unique fresh brews, sampling available so you will know just what you are taking home and LOVE the idea of owning my own bottles, no more stacks of bottles to return in our garage!!!! The location is beautiful, out in the country atop a hill next to an old Farm house, while my husband is in line, I can scoot over to the neighboring gift shop and vegetable stand (in the summer). LOVE supporting the locals! Run by energetic thoughtful people, always playing great music, sometimes playing live music. Keep up the GREAT work! read more

I am updating my review to 5 stars. As I stated previously, this is by far the best brewery in the country. Why? No one is doing what they do. Multiple offerings that are all spectacular and in a 16 ounce cans. The Alchemist is awesome but they really only sell one beer. Trillium has 10+ amazing beers but they do not have cans. And last - Hillfarmstead is the only brewery that can match the Treehouse lineup but they also do not have cans. Cans are amazing. Call me crazy but Sometimes I just one one! Not a whole growler. The only reason I rated this 4 stars previously is because of the epic waits they used to have. Those days are gone. I usually get in and out within 30 min which is completely reasonable for this amazingness. 12 to 18 can limits with 2 to 3 offerings is just fantastic. It's worth the 90 min drive! This place is perfect. I hope they stay brewery only forever. read more

These folks seem to do everything right. First off, and most importantly, the beer is world class. I haven't swallowed a sip yet and said to myself...that is "ok". Winner after winner. Great marketing, logos, people, hell - I even like the difficult to get to and quirky place! What's not to like about a barn with a wood stove, guitars, a Harley, happy joking/smiling growler fillers, dedicated beer fans, and an open view of the brew works. Couldn't be a better group of people working here. Starting with the parking coordinators, working thru the greeters, to the growler fillers, and the brewers, there is a complete lack of attitude - except great. These people could easily let all of this go to their heads, but instead, and almost as if they are some crazy Dr. Seuss characters, it goes to their hearts. Open for Growler fills on Saturdays, make your way there. Buy more than you think you want. Head to one of the local restaurants that offers BYOB, and enjoy the rest of your afternoon. read more

Stopped in at Tree House en route to Boston from Philly. A little out of the way but totally worth it. This little-known brewery produces small batches and distributes to a handful of bars in Mass, as well as selling growlers in their retail shop. I understand the town of Brimfield is giving them some zoning trouble (way to chase away tax revenue, real nice move) so I'm told they'll be moving shortly a town over. It's a shame because their location now is just beautiful. The staff is very friendly and the service is great. I understand lines get quite long but I arrived during a lull on Saturday afternoon around 3. Got two growlers of Sap IPA and one of Space and Time. They were still carbonated when I got home four days later and shared them with a friend. Sap was just excellent (though I hear Julius is better) with a great hop aroma. Space and Time was also very good, though I usually only drink stouts in the winter. They will only fill their own growlers (750ml with nice spring-loaded rubber stoppers), but they're quite inexpensive. With the growler purchase, a bottle of Sap was $12 and Space and Time was $14. Those beers are 7 something and 9 something percent ABV, respectively. Eureka a lower ABV session beer, was a few dollars less. If you're in the area on a Thursday night or Saturday (they have limited hours) I highly recommend you stop in. read more

Process is simple once you've done it once. Get in line and buy your cans, fill out a slip with what growlers you want/size/how many, and sample while you're waiting. To address the lines: Are you kidding me? Of course there's lines, they are opened only a few days a week and the beer WILL sell out. Tree House Brewing is adorable, it has decent/good beer and I wouldn't drive by it if I was close. That being said I also wouldn't tell anyone who wasn't already local, or driving past that they need to stop. There is nothing that I saw or tasted that would make me feel the need to come back. The beer is good, my brother LOVED the IPA's, I on the other hand didn't really care for them. I wouldn't turn down a pint, but I didn't feel the need to walk away with any. The tasting is free, and I got to sample Juluis, and curiosity seven. There was a milk stout which I was unable to try due to it having lactose in it. In order to get a tasting you ask the man behind the "hostess" like stand. If you want to get a 750 you have to wait in line and put your order in. read more

I did not know much about Tree House until my friends and I visited the brewery en route to Cooperstown, NY for the weekend. I read about their beer in Boston Magazine and was excited to give it a taste! However, upon arriving, we quickly saw that the parking lot was completely full and lines were everywhere. As first time visitors, there were no signs indicating what the lines were for. As the smallest person in our group, I had to snake up to the growler bar to get the rundown: to get a growler filled, there was 1.5-2 hour wait, we could get cans of Julius if we waited in the other line (which was much quicker) and the smallest line at the right of the bar was for tastes. As someone who has never tried Tree House beer, I was intrigued but disappointed in the lack of opportunity to actually taste! My friends and I got in the Julius can line and got a 6-pack. We then hopped into the "tasting" line and when we got to the front, we were told we could only have ONE taste! One taste?!? Tree House was pouring 4 beers that day - I did not understand why we couldn't taste all 4. So we took our one taste, our 6 pack of Julius, and went on our way. The taste I had was a bland IPA (I've had much better). And Julius was good, but the experience and the waits soured my taste of Tree House overall. Perhaps I should go when its not as busy, but given the first experience I had, and the plethora of other amazing beers in the New England area, I doubt I will be going back. read more

They make great beer, the staff is super cool (especially considering all of the hubbub) and the location is beautiful. I also must commend the company for not charging outrageous prices on such a coveted product. They could easily sell them at more than $5 a can and people would buy them just as fast. I lived in Boulder, CO for 4 years, so I know a good IPA when I taste one, and Treehouse certainly makes excellent IPAs. Unfortunately, I would place most of the current fervor in which people snap these things up down to availability. They are indeed very good beers, but they are hard to get, and this adds to the appeal. I would not suggest driving 5 hours to get some, but the hour drive (one way) for me is acceptable. After all the beer that I've had, I wouldn't put these on a whole other level. It is dang good, though! read more

First, the beer gets five stars. However, the improper staffing and organization of their operation gets one star. I have seen girl scouts selling cookies with more efficiency than this business. With this in mind, it may seem unfair to rate them as such but I'll rate their beer quality somewhere else. Yelp is for rating businesses and this one can use some work. Also, it is worth stating that I'll be back for their beer as often as travel lets me. I hope they smooth things out over time. read more
