Excellent service! I believe we were served by four people during the course of our time, who all were extremely attentive. We were celebrating our anniversary and we were surprised by the complimentary drinks. The food was delicious! I had the gyros plate and my husband had the sea bass. The staff here are so so friendly, Once they arrange you sit, one staff would come to check in and asked or introduce the menus to you if you need. when I asked the sanitizer, one of them just Just handed one bottle of it to me immediately!!!! I have eaten at the Tree House Cafe several times. I have tried several of their dishes and every one of them I loved. The service is great as well . The only thing I didn't like which I don't think can be helped much, is there is only one bathroom, one toilet so sometimes it's a bit of wait in a cramped spot. My wife had the Stroganoff, which was without flavor and either had the worst bit of beef tendon I've ever seen, or it was an actual piece of nitrile food prep glove. Not appetizing. The restaurant has a "cute" patio but aside from the perched location it's filthy. The single bathroom was disgusting. The floors were old and dingy. Tree House Cafe was our favorite stop on our recent visit to Carmel. For lunch they are first come first serve, we arrived at noon and got a table on the patio overlooking the street. The restaurant is dog friendly so we brought our pup with us for brunch. My fiance got the Prawn Pasta which he ended up raving about all weekend and I got the Bolognese Pasta which was also delicious. We paired lunch with the house cabernet and a red sangria. Overall delicious food, great ambiance and friendly service. This is our new go to spot in Carmel. read more

Tree House Cafe may become our new "go to" spot for lunch in Carmel. We spotted it sometime ago while window shopping in Carmel and DH suggested we give it a try. Our pre-COVID visit was quite memorable. We were hoping for a table under a red umbrella on the patio which is literally "in the tree tops." But the wait was too long. Instead we were seated inside in a cozy corner by a window. As it turned out, inside seating was perfectly fine. (But with COVID, I am not sure that is an option.) Hard to make choices from the diverse menu. It is mostly Mediterranean with a few Thai curries. The couple who own Tree Top Cafe bring their international background to the cafe. He is a Jordanian and she is Thai. I began with a cup of lentil soup which was especially appealing on a chilly day -- typical Carmel weather. For my main course, I chose a Greek salad topped with a generous portion of gyros, along with a couple of pieces of pita bread. The pour on my sauvignon blanc was also more than generous. DH enjoyed his chicken pesto sandwich with a side salad and a beer for his beverage. Did I say the portions were generous? Yes! So I reluctantly passed on dessert. That is hard for me to do. But I was in luck. By the time we finished our meal, the lunch crowd was thinning out and we were chatting with the two owners. They sent over a complimentary plate of two bite-sized pieces of baklava. Perfect. When we are ready to travel again -- which I hope is soon -- Tree House Cafe will be a must stop in Carmel. Been here previously and loved it. Came back years later and had a terrible experience. Server was extremely rude to my fiancée and I. After taking our order, he didn't check in with us once. Multiple tables were sat and finished their meals before we even received our appetizer. After bringing it to the attention of who I assume was the manager, they tried to rush our food out using the excuse that they had a large to go order, after us mentioning we needed to leave. We sat on the terrace and enjoyed the view with a mimosa. Dress warm. It's Carmel. The food was good. We had the chicken salad and a burger. Burger was cooked perfectly. The chicken salad was . . . a chicken salad. Good but nothing special. Except the price. It's Carmel. The service was good but we felt a little rushed. I get they want/need to turn tables but that part of our experience wasn't in sync with the casual, unhurried atmosphere that is Carmel by the Sea. Tree House is my go to place to eat!!! Not only do they off the best Mediterranean cuisine, they also offer THAI curry dishes as well!!!! The yellow curry is the best I've had in the area! We were on the right street but couldn't find the restaurant. But when we called them, someone was quick to actually come out and find us. All the staff are very friendly and they keep checking in all time to time. They have downstairs seating which is along the roadside, its pretty but we got to sit upstairs which was absolutely cute and had music going on too, hence we picked upstairs. At night time, Iam sure, it will be all the more wonderful with all the lights. But the seating, I wouldn't say it was 6 ft apart. Seemed lil too close and not much space. Me and my friend, we both had the seafood pasta. And oh my goodness, got to say, it was one of the best we had ever. And they do homemade pasta. The sauce so light and full of flavor. Best ever! We visited family in Carmel this past week. We were treated to dinner at the Tree House Cafe. Absolutely delicious food!! My sister and I each thoroughly enjoyed a plate of mushroom ravioli pasta with the most wonderful sauce! My husband and I also shared a Ceasar salad that was very good. He had the Cioppino and thought it was delicious! We ate dinner in their private "wine room," which was really special. The wine selection and the service was also outstanding. We had a big health related problem after eating at this restaurant. We came here with friends on July 3rd and we had a bad experience. It was Sunday of the holiday weekend, at atoumt 6 pm, when Carmel gets very crowded and all the restaurants are very busy. This restaurant was also busy but we were able to get the table on the second floor, outside. The atmosphere is very pleasant with colorful flowers and beautiful weather. The server was not very friendly, it seems like he was rushing and when my wife was requesting a gluten-free food due to her severe gluten allergy, he just kept saying ok, ok, ok, but it seems like he was not really taking it seriously, I had to reiterate several times to him that it's very important to convey our requests to the kitchen and make sure thatmy wife's food does not have gluten amd nothing gluten containing touches my wife's food. When they brought our food, it looked good, but tasted not so good. There was not much flavor in the chicken and lamb and steak that we ordered. It was just okay. The bad part was that after this food, my wife felt really bad, she got very nauseous and had bad pain in her stomach. We knew that the food that she ate was contaminated with gluten because that's the reaction that she usually has when she eats something gluten containing. She was miserable and could not sleep all nigjt. We're not going back to this restaurant and recommend everyone with food allergies to stay away. This behavior of the server is unacceptable. Irresponsible, and dangerous. The management of this restaurant should spend more time on training their employees about gluten allergies and Celiac disease, how dangerous it can be, and on how important it is to really listen to the customers. read more

Perfect restaurant set in soothing greenery, cozy decor, smiling service and great food at a reasonable price. I've tried a variety of dishes here over the years and they have all been very good. Very recently I tried the generous portion of sea bass, it was fresh and cooked just right. Their house bread comes with Parmesan cheese doused in olive oil and starts the meal on the right note. The nice gentleman who took care of me gave me a complimentary glass of wine - very sweet of him. Carmel is an expensive place and comparatively the bill was very wallet friendly. We booked Tree House Cafe actually by accident thinking it was a different restaurant. We called to reserve a table on the rooftop and it did not disappoint. The vibes were immaculate with the string lights, cool California air, and plenty of heaters to keep you comfortable. Inside was nice as well but we like to eat outdoors when we can. We had the taziki dip, Kalamata olives, and Chicken Alfredo. All the pasta dishes are made with local scratch pasta and it was wonderful. Their wine selection was nice but being California and the specific AVA's of each wine, I wish the menu had a little more detail on vintage. This was worth the wait to enjoy the ambiance and fantastic meal! After a fun day window shopping and visiting the beach, we had late reservations to dine at the Treehouse Cafe. It was especially convenient to stay directly across the street, so we just walked over when it was time. We were greeted warmly and seated immediately, even though we showed up about 20 minutes early. Everyone gets a plate of bread with oil, herbs and parmesan cheese. I got the Greek salad with salmon and my husband ordered the lamb kebabs. The ambiance was second to none, the service was attentive, and the meal was delicious. But in general all restaurants nearby were also not convincing, I had the feeling that all were addressed to serving tourists (having pretty much the same no sense menu everywhere from burger to thai curry).
