Made a reservation to have dinner on the patio as well--though it was a chilly night, the outdoor patio was warm from heat lamps, and the ambience and service were wonderful. Dolmas (4/5): Grape leave wraps served with tzatziki yogurt sauce, they were well seasoned and a solid appetizer overall. Yellow Curry (5/5): This was absolutely sensational. A sweet, lightly spiced curry, I chose to have it with chicken. Also with potato and carrots. Gyros Plate (5/5): Another amazing dish that I highly recommend. The atmosphere is like being in a treehouse. It is amazing. The food is to die for. I had the gyros salad. Plenty of lamb, lots of feta, cucumbers & olives. I could have used more pita. Wife and I stopped here on our way to Monterey Bay. Came in with pretty high expectations and left incredibly underwhelmed. Maybe it was our fault for having high hopes, maybe they had an off day or maybe things just aren't as good as other reviewers say. We started off on a GREAT note with the clam chowder. It was so flavorful and we enjoyed every spoon full of this dish. Our sangrias weren't really sweet or had any discerning taste. Very underwhelmed by that. Our main courses absolutely devastated us. The red Thai curry was somehow simultaneously too sweet and salty. The coconut milk was overtly sweet and it seemed like they tried cutting that by adding salt. They just added too much of it. The lamb stroganoff was a very confusing dish. At times the lamb was juicy and delicious, some pieces were extremely fatty and then some were incredibly dry. Would we come here again? I drove through Carmel and saw this different restaurant, treehouse was intriguing. I made reservations for 6pm and it was quite busy for a Monday night. Climbing up a few easy stairs under a twinkling tree branch, confident the meal was going to be memorable. The servers were catering to indoor and outdoor clientele with wonderful efficiency! I ordered a Val d'Oca Prosecco to start and they brought artisan bread with balsamic vinegar and olive oil, wits shavings of garlic, which was delightful. On our previous visits to Carmel, we have over-emphasized the galleries on the north side of Ocean, neglecting the restaurants and tasting rooms on the south side. The Tree House cafe is less than a block from our favorite Carmel Dive Bar: Bar-mel (yes, that's the real name). And just walking by it we felt irresistibly drawn to the manicured, roof-top patio covered with flowers and dark wood. Walking through the dining room was like entering a cozy European bistro. The rooftop seating area is a few steps up and was truly transporting. It was mid-afternoon and we only wanted chowder, so we ordered two bowls and slurped it up (in the most classy imaginable way) happily. Our server was quite good, and the food was excellent. We were eating on the veranda and the atmosphere was cozy and pet friendly. The weather at night was pleasant. One server had a mishap when carrying the glasses of water & spilled on the floor. They had many food options. We ordered this yummy roasted garlic. My hubby ordered the Lamb Kebabs and it was tender & delicious (we tasted it). My daughter had the Mushroom Truffle Ravioli and her bff had the Chicken Alfredo. I just only had the cup of Clam Chowder & Greek Salad (ate Jambalaya for lunch so I felt eating lighter for dinner). Our new favorite restaurant in Carmel. Spectacular dinner of clam chowder (so tasty), grilled sea bass and prime rib (steak of the day). Flavorful Arnold Palmer (1/2 iced tea, 1/2 lemonade.) What's even more impressive is the service. As other Yelpers have noted, the staff is incredible. The stellar customer service started with the friendly woman who answered the phone, courteous hostess, waiter and bus person. The evening was made more memorable with the owner/manager stopped by to say hello at the beginnings of the meal then afterwards to check on us. His genuine graciousness and dinner recommendations set this restaurant apart from others. Highly recommend you call ahead to make a reservation because the restaurant gets packed around dinner time. The food was also about the average. Salt was clearly missing. The Sea Bass was good, but the Lamb Stroganoff was terrible! I ordered the mushroom ravioli and it was good, but definitely a little bland for my taste. My friend ordered the paella which he said was also a little bland but was a filling portion for leftovers. I ordered the Yellow Thai curry echo here was supposed to be mild and it was super hot. I asked the server if maybe they gave me the spicy one by mistake and he said oh I can fix it trust me I'm a chef. A couple of minutes later I got the same dish watered down and tasteless. What a way to fix it! We had lasagna and that was a nice portion and according to our daughter it was tasty. Our other daughter had the truffle mushroom ravioli and was bummed that it was a very small amount of food, at least she said it tasted good. My husband had the steak and mashed potatoes and he said it was good and the portion seemed sufficient. SOOOO GOOD! Not only dog friendly, but even has a dog menu! The restaurant is somewhat small but definitely beautiful and has a fresh feeling to it. So fresh, vibrant and satisfying to eat. I had the Gyro Salad, and while briefly skeptical of the concept, loved it to bits once it arrived. There was two layers of beautifully seared gyro meat, slices of pita and an olive oil + some kind of slightly acidic vinaigrette which complimented the juicy meat so well. The salad also had feta cheese which was bursting with flavor. Such a mouthwatering combination! My dog had their grilled chicken and they even brought her a bowl of water! They also served this delicious complimentary bread with an olive oil sauce which was so crunchy and yummy! The clam chowder was pretty good too! 10/10 for food and 10/10 for service! Everything till we were seated and ordered was fine. For some reason my ravioli looks a lot more than the ones other people ordered and posted here on Yelp. It was delicious BUT I got severe food poisoning 4-5 hours after having it. I would've thought it was something else but unfortunately this was the only thing I had eaten all day.
