4 days after the job was done. Trees were left dense.

I paid nearly $2,000 in April to have my mature ficus trees professionally trimmed. According to the contract with Tree Pros, the goal was to "focus on the more dense ficus for more crown clean. Please trim to push for wider crown rather than vertical growth." In other words, the trees were supposed to be opened up and encouraged to grow outward rather than continuing vertical growth. Unfortunately, the experience was frustrating from the very beginning. It was difficult to get the job scheduled, communication was inconsistent, and I often had to leave messages before receiving a response. When the crew finally arrived, they did not bring the bucket truck that was supposed to be used for the job. I had to insist that they return with the proper equipment before the work could proceed as agreed. Even after the work was completed, those communication issues continued. Within days of the trimming, I took photos showing the trees were still extremely tall and dense. At the time, I relied on the company's expertise and assumed the work had been completed correctly, even though the trees did not appear to reflect the objective described in the contract. About a month later, a large branch fell from one of the ficus trees. Concerned, I contacted the company and scheduled a time for Kyle to inspect the tree. He canceled the appointment within about an hour of our scheduled meeting. After already experiencing difficulties getting the original work scheduled and completed, this cancellation added to my frustration and left me feeling that my concerns were not being taken seriously. The company later reached out by email to reschedule the inspection, but by then I had lost confidence that another visit would resolve the issue and respectfully declined. After a more recent storm, my concerns grew even further. One large branch fell from one of the ficus trees. The very next day, another large branch fell. Then, three days later, a third large branch fell from a different ficus tree. Having three major branches fall within a single week, on three different days and from two different trees, made me seriously question whether the trees had been properly thinned and crown cleaned as outlined in the contract. I contacted the company again, shared the photos taken immediately after the original work, and explained my concerns. Rather than discussing whether the original work met the contracted objective, the company focused on the storm damage. I was ultimately told that if I wanted the trees trimmed to better achieve the original goal described in the contract, I would have to pay for another trimming. What frustrated me most was that I didn't seek this company out. They came to my door offering their tree services. I am not an arborist, so I relied on their expertise and trusted their recommendations. I expected them to perform the work they proposed and documented in the contract. Instead, I was left with two choices: accept trees that, in my view, did not reflect the objective outlined in the contract or pay additional money to have the work redone. No customer should have to choose between accepting work they reasonably believe did not meet the agreed-upon objective or paying twice for the same service. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this company.

Sissoo sprouts growing both a couple dozen feet and 18 inches from the allegedly dead stumps.

Blaming myself on this one, but in the interest of saving others - beware. There is a huge gap between what Tree Pros says and what they do. What they say verbally is how they remove sissoos and stay on top of poisoning the trunk to kill off the root system. What their contract says is different - one poisoning and then best of luck. What their crews say is they poison up to three times. You'll be told that you can replant new trees as soon as the sissoo stumps are ground. Except you can't, because you may spend months chasing sissoo sprouts and having to spot treat with herbicides. Tree removal - that was great. But I wish I'd chosen someone else who actually keeps working to kill the root system rather than throwing their hands up and saying "well, sissoos are hard." I know that. It's why I hired them. And it was a mistake.

Exposed PVC, supposed to be buried 6" under soil.

Tree Pros, then name changed to Pros Tree and Landscape, are absolutely THE worst company I've ever dealt with!! They have done (and left unrepaired) SO much damage and shoddy work in my front and backyard it's literally, yes literally, unbelievable. I've been dealing with them for over a YEAR trying to get numerous things fixed. First, they installed a brand new PVC Irrigation system and left all the individual cans that cover the black tubing sitting on top of my landscape rocks, creating a trip and fall risk around my entire property and I say that because I've tripped and fell over them numerous times. These cans are supposed to be buried and no more than 2" above the ground. All of them, except 1, are about 9" above the ground. Next, they didn't even bury the PVC! Just threw rocks over most and left other areas completely exposed to the sun, turning it brown and brittle. They've also ruined the sidewalks to my backyard from a never ending leak which is ongoing to this day. They have refused to fix ANY of these issues!! So, I'm filing a complaint with the Registrar of Contractors (ROC) as well as the BBB. They probably think a single female senior is easy to take advantage of. They're in for a surprise thanks to 30 yrs working for attorneys!

I signed up to have Tree Pros come by to trim my Bottle Brush tree. It needed significant trimming. They did a an excellent job, very friendly, explained what they were going to do and completed the job in just over an hour with 4 guys and a woodchipper. They left the site and tree very tidy and at a reasonable cost. I will have them come over again in a year or so to trim the tree again.
