The swings were the only thing that I really enjoyed about this bar. There was no drink menu (at least that I was offered or could see) and my drink came in a cheap, clear plastic up. The inside (dark, dumpy, seemed like a converted roller rink, all rap) was completely incongruous with the outside. I will not go back. read more

Been here twice never had an issue. Always been antsy though because through word of mouth I got wind that staff is quite problematic to how they treat others depending on one's melanin and "style of dress" if it's "too urban". Really can't stand this cryptic, coded language. This all is quite interesting because one of the owners is Julian Rodgers. Who was the former owner of now closed Mixx Ultra Lounge and Cameo which predominantly had a black demographic. Another owner is Zachary Costa who back in the day committed vehicular homicide...so just know who you're giving your money towards. read more

I concur with the other negative reviews. Overpriced drinks that kinda suck anyway, seemed kinda hostile to African American patrons, half ass "treehouse" vibe with swings in the way at the bar. The only reason it gets 2 stars from be is because it seems like they have a partnership or affiliation with otr live, the (awesome) club right next door which can be accessed via the steps at treehouse. Deleting your Facebook page after all the negative reviews and creating a new one doesn't seem fair. Everybody should be able to see the reviews of the discriminatory behavior... This bar is 2 weeks fresh and already needs a whole new staffing situation. Perhaps bouncers that don't call people "fags", deny entry because pants are "too flashy", or most importantly creating a bogus dress code after being called out for the blatant racism showed? read more

Looks like a nice OUTSIDE bar, but wouldn't know. I'm a 55yr old man out celebrating my birthday with friends. We were turned away because of our attire. It would be nice if you know before you get there. However I don't think I even want to go in if they are treating people this way. I would recommend against going To this bar. It's a neat concept but everything about it is shady. The drinks are overly priced. Domestics are triple the cost of a normal beer. The bar is hard to get to with the swings and people on the swings surrounding the bar. There is also only one bar which makes the wait for drinks incredibly long. They recently ran into some bad PR as their Facebook was commenting back at customers saying racist things. Upper management has had their run ins with the law as well. Place is sketchy. read more

Came here for my sisters bachelorette party, it was just okay. All liquor was warm because it was just sitting out. Some swings were broken or uneven so if you sat down you were sideways. Great location and the outdoor space is welcoming. The service however falls far short of expectations. I was there at 4:30 on Friday and it took almost ten minutes to be acknowledged at the bar. There were two bartenders and about 30 patrons scattered throughout the patio. The staff is friendly and seems to try hard but the whole operation seemed amateurish - too bad. The Treehouse Bar is undoubtedly a cool space, but I was expecting more. The swings are all off to the side, they are always occupied, and the night I was there, the "treehouse" was inaccessible. There were also numerous very drunk and loud patrons being irritating at 7pm, and you have to wonder if the bartenders knew to cut them off. It was also very difficult to get the bartender to notice you unless you are in their face. Finally, it was also a very "monochromatic" space, and you have to wonder if that has anything to do with their racist employees. Overall, it was a neat space to stop for a beer, but I wouldn't go back. I miss Neon's so much and this place isn't a suitable replacement. read more

If you want a seat on the swings you better get here early or watch the bar continuously. Other than that it's a pretty dope place. There's plenty of seating elsewhere throughout the bar. Good environment, great vibes, great people. Didn't have a problem getting drinks at the bar either. read more

This is a great addition of the OTR area. They have done a lot better on the service side of things since they first opened. Much better slingin drinks than they used to be. It's a fun place to day drink as there is plenty of seating and the outside area is to die for. However I had no idea there was a whole inside area with its own DJ until I went to the bathrooms?! Perhaps better marketing or something to lead people inside? Perhaps once it's cold out that is their plan. Will have to see when winter comes bc obviously we won't be swinging on the swings LOLZ will have to revisit once the cold weather hits bc I am not sure what the atmosphere will be like then... read more

Went there last Saturday and there was a line that moved quick but upon entering, the place was packed. I understand its a new popular bar but what's the point in having a line if your not going to wait to let people in. Couldn't walk anywhere without bumping into people and waited a few minutes before cutting our losses and leaving but not before a confrontation with one of the youths. Also the crowd at night can only be described as a cross between the young mount adams crowd and jersey Shore meat heads who were talking about rating the bartenders figure. Maybe during the day it's better but avoid at night. And as far as the recent news reports about being discriminatory, didn't seem racist at all just super douchey. read more

Cool vibe, very chill & fun. Went herewith a group of friends to day drink & enjoy the weather & it was perfect. Didn't get on a swing but still fun. Service was fast, but could be friendlier. Drinks weren't bad, but You can't go wrong with a MadTree. Overall, worth a try! read more

Still awful, still miserable PR on handling a situation. Deleting and recreating a Facebook page to try and purge negative reviews is another giant PR misstep. Hire a publicist and a social media coordinator who actually knows what they're doing and offset your losses instead of playing at petty bullshit. read more

Pay cash if you purchase drinks here. They ripped us off on our credit card purchase. We went here over the weekend and our total bill was 31.00 dollars. The gentleman charged our card for 40.00 and again for 15.00. I have no idea what those charges are for. We used a credit card so the charges did not show up for a few days. My boyfriend thought the bartender did it on purpose because he had an attitude. Also, we did not tip because of his attitude so it appears he tipped himself on our card. We will never return to this place again. They are shady! read more

I've been here twice. The first time, it was a bit chaotic and the swings were placed in very inconvenient spots. The second time was a pretty good experience. It's a nice outside bar with lots of seating but also lots of room for groups of people to stand. Bar service has definitely improved. Looks like they got their growing pains out of the way. Treehouse Patio Bar has a very interesting vibe. I've been here a couple times already and it is always packed. There is plenty of space to move around though. The drinks are VERY over-priced to be quite honest. There is a slushie drink they offer for 7 bucks but the cup is so tiny. You would think it would at least come in a decent sized cup. I also think it's funny that they have a "dress code" My friend tried to get in and they wouldn't let him in because he was wearing a white shirt. This isn't a fancy bar or club. Unique space. I've never been to a place where you could sit on a swing while drinking. Bathroom situation was a bit odd, it almost seemed like it belonged to another business. Went around 9pm on a Saturday nite, wasn't super busy at that point but I can imagine it gets more bananas later in the evening. As we were leaving there was a line forming to come in. Neat concept, kind of dangerous to swing an slippery seats while drinking. Entertained by the swing at ur own risk. No toilet paper or paper towels in restrooms soap wasn't even in the dispensers. There was a terrible sewage smell. Hard to get a drink at the bar due to all the swings packed in. Good music but overall let down for a new bar. read more

The swings were the coolest thing about the place. I enjoy the live music but the service sucks!!! I stood at the bar for 10 minutes with my card in my hand ready to order drinks and the bartender just looked at me. The drinks were overpriced and watered down. I would think if the bar gets busy u don't even get to use the swings which is kind of it's unique feature but overall a nice place. Visited while traveling in Ohio with fam. Overpriced, crowded, hard to get a drink. Sounds like a cool idea but not a fun/comfy place to be in my opinion. Later heard about this racist dress code nonsense and am even more disappointed that this is where we went. No white tees, sagging pants, or oversized necklaces...WHAT? So I really wanted more from this place, and maybe I'll change my review after another visit or two, but my initial impression was....meh. Its actually a fairly small space, compared to some other great patio bars in the area, and it seemed generally disheveled this past weekend when I was there for a few drinks with a small group of people post-Reds game. There was a "bouncer" and one of those line barrier things (even though when I initially got there that line was non-existent) which gave it a weird Mt. Adams club vibe. It was still light out so I got a good look at the seating and tables, which were minimal and also looked like it was bought from a craiglist ad for old patio furniture. It was mismatched without any general theme and didn't appear to be new or of quality (odd for a brand new bar). The bar is in the middle of the space and is a giant square where the famous swings are. The swings are a neat concept, edging your way to the bar in between people on said swings........ruined the concept immediately. There was a neat mural on the back wall and big stone steps that people were sitting on, which was cool and different. I will say, I'm confused how this place plans to stay in operation in the winter months or during inclement weather because there is NO inside space at all. I didn't use the bathrooms but I heard they were pretty gross. Because I was there earlier in the evening the crowd was decent and skewed a bit older, but by the time I left and when I walked past to my car later in the night, it was clear this was a draw for college age kids who want instagram pics on a swing. There really was not anything outstanding or different about this place but I am sure I will be back a time or two based solely on its recent opening and trendy swings. I want to come back in the daytime on a weekend to avoid the late night crowd, so stay tuned.... read more

This is our 2nd weekend in a row checking this place out. The staff and patrons are very diverse. The swings are fun and the drinks are fantastic! Our bartender, DeeDee remembered my name from last weekend!! Don't let the negative reviews from across the country from people who have never been here away you. I r really enjoyed swinging at the bar with a cocktail. Will be back regularly. Yes, they screwed up opening weekend, but haven't you ever made a mistake? Had a great time here with a group of friends!! Normal prices for a downtown bar.. and the inside has happy hour on Thursday and Friday. We loved the vibe and ended up staying there all night, which was not our original plan. The service was friendly, and when the bar got super busy we went inside to get drinks and received friendly service in there as well. We will be back! read more
