I was there pretty late, so I got to meet a few of the other staff as they were getting off shift, and they all were very nice. If I could give the restaurant a negative rating, I would. My family went to the establishment on Mother's Day, hoping to have a good experience. It was a nightmare from start to finish. The staff seemed stressed and overworked. My Moms order was wrong, so she sent it back and got something else. They ran out of certain items, it was not good. However, as if things couldn't get worse, we get the bill only to find a weird charge on the receipt. It was known as a "SVC Fee". When asked what it was, we were given two different stories. One employees stated that it was a fee for using our debit card as payment, and the other employee stated that it was due to him wanting to raise prices without complications. This charge was never explained. After looking further at the receipt, we found that not only did they charge us for food, and tax, but the added 3.9% fee for the "SVC Fee" was on top of that. After trying to call the restaurant and speak to the owner, who was present, he refused to talk or answer any questions. Sounds incredibly fishy. Would not recommend. read more

Unless you take cash, be prepared to pay 3.9% extra on your bill. When questioned what the charge was for we were told the owner needed to increase prices. Another employee told us it was for using our credit card. If you pay cash you don't have to pay it. But who carries cash or looks at their receipt? The food here was fantastic! We drove in from Chicago to meet some friends who drove in from Des Moines. Wasn't really sure about it due to such a large menu. Really thought it was going to be "bar food". It wasn't. They do have the typical stuff, nachos and cheese curds etc. (which looked great too!). But as we all are trying to eat a bit healthier it was such a nice surprise with all of the healthy choices. The chicken was outstanding in my salad. Being back on the road again seeing customers, I had the chance to stay in Bettendorf and decided to revisit this bar, which I stopped at over a year ago. Note that I am not a picky eater and like a place that I can get a few beers and food while working on my computer. Like others have mentioned, they have a nice selection from local breweries. I'm writing this review mainly based on the pizza. Maybe the owners can take some pointers from this because the pizza needs major improvement. They have wood fired pizzas, which should be great, but there are big problems. The first thing is that the pizzas are small, and thin crust. I've never seen a wood fired pizza be completely thin crust, it is usually semi-thin bottom crust but then the outside crust is thicker. This is done so that the wood fire has more of a taste and impact on the pizza. It leaves some char and imparts the smoke. This pizza had none of that and there was no indication that it was cooked in anyway different from a normal oven. and my pizzas crust was also not at all crisp. If they want to keep a thin crust option, ok, but if you have a wood fired oven then make the normal style woodfired pizza also. The other pizza problems are that they are too small and had very few toppings. When a pizza doesn't have many toppings it feels like the restaurant is being cheap and it makes you not want to get it again. For the owners and people unfamiliar with real wood fired pizzas, check out wild tomato pizza in door county, wis. This is wood fired pizza done correctly. For only a couple bucks more their pizzas are twice the overall size/weight, have a much wider and more unique selection of toppings, which are used plentifully on the pizzas, and they have a greater focus on using local ingredients. They also have the proper crust. My advice to the owners is to check out that places website and just rip it off completely because it is a thousand times better than the treehouse pizza. read more

We went early to be able to get a table for 6. After a short wait, we were given two tables pushed together by the front window, in the bar area, right next to the door. It wasn't loud when we got there, but it got very loud later. There was a good mix of types of people there; I don't know how else to describe it but to say that. There is another eating area to the right when you come in the door, but we couldn't get a table for 6 in a timely fashion. It was probably quieter on that side of the restaurant than it was in the bar area where we were. My wife and I shared a burger, which was a good call because it was enormous. As stated by many other people who have reviewed this place, it was among the best I've had in the QCA. I wish I had written this review immediately, before I forgot which burger we had. I can't seem to find a copy of the Treehouse menu here, but I think it had a LOT of bacon on it. We also shared the cheese curds and they were excellent. Unlike the heavily-breaded cylindrical lumps you get most places, their curds had a light, tempura-style coating. My wife also got a salad, which she enjoyed. A special highlight was a smiling and friendly man who roamed around the restaurant, kibitzing with the customers. I assumed he was one of the owners who was interacting with us, but I was wrong. He said his name was "Peter the 'busser' from Brooklyn", and to mention him when I Yelped the Treehouse. So here it is "Peter The Busser", (meaning he was a bus-"boy"), a shout-out to you and your great service and personality. That said, the owner WAS present and making sure that people were taken care of. So, was everything great? Sadly, no. As has been previously mentioned, the parking situation was not ideal, and the bathroom was a "one-holer". The bathroom situation may prove to be the Achilles Heel of this establishment. A one-hole bathroom is not adequate for a bar. Beer drinkers generally spend a fair amount of time in that space, if you catch my drift. I waited for 3 people who were ahead of me to finish but I imagine the ladies room situation would be much worse. All in all, better-than-average food and friendly service, but poor marks for the bathroom and parking situations. read more

We have eaten here several times now, inside in both main areas as well as outside on the deck, and we've even gotten takeout for an office meeting. Pleasant atmosphere, clean restrooms, parking is a bit challenging if you don't get one of the few close spots. We were cheerfully greeted at the door every time. So, every dish we've gotten was between good and delicious. No complaints there. The to-go order wasn't quite perfect, but even the mistake was delicious (a pizza topping). The full bar is well-stocked, beer selection is plenty adequate for all but the snootiest brew snob (you know who you are, go to a brew pub instead). Our only encouragement is for the wait staff/kitchen communication. The servers are a little overwhelmed with volume, it seems, and do not visit if you are short on time for anything but their (fantastic) salads and scratch-made soup. My mother is still dreaming about the lobster bisque she had earlier in the summer. The Plantation Salad, alone, is reason enough to visit. Absolutely fabulous and a tremendous nod to a local classic that now only more seasoned guests will remember (The Plantation at the Velie Mansion, anyone?) All in all, a solid recommendation from us, but allow for a robust time frame when you visit. read more

I am happy to report that I had a drastically different experience. Whether they've worked out some kinks, or it's just a different experience at lunch (or both), it was way better. We dined outside on the restaurant's deck, which was lovely. We shared a half plantation salad on the recommendation of our server. (We ordered a whole salad, and he helpfully noted the half is ample for two people. He was right.) Then we shared a pizza. Our service was excellent-- friendly, prompt and helpful. The food was great. Everything came as ordered, and both of our items were fresh, delicious, and felt more gourmet than your usual QC lunch. The best part? It was about $20 for two people. Our plantation salad, which would have been a hearty lunch in and of itself...was $4.50! Treehouse has seriously improved in my estimation, and I wouldn't hesitate to go back. read more

My best friend and I had dinner at the TreeHouse for the first time last weekend. We greatly enjoyed the deck, good service and yummy food. We paid our bill, tipped our waitress handsomely and were ready to leave but changed our minds and decided to stay, have a slice of cheesecake, cup of coffee and finish our conversation. Through a very innocent miscommunication, we accidently left without paying for our slice of cheesecake and coffee. Within an hour, the owner of the TreeHouse contacted my friend via text, threatening her, calling her names, left her a nasty voicemail and demanded she return to pay our bill or she would call the police. My friend returned to the TreeHouse the next day (putting aside her own Mother's Day celebrations) and paid our bill of $17. The owner's complete lack of respect and decency has been appalling. My best friend and I are respectful, honest and hard-working career women. We have excellent reputations in our community. This situation could have been easily cleared up with one kind, quiet phone call informing us of the miscommunication and outstanding bill. Instead we were bombarded with numerous personal insults and threats at an inappropriate hour of the night. Both of our families have allergy issues and we had liked that the TreeHouse had a menu which fit our families health needs. Had the owner handled this situation in a profession and kind manner, we would have been loyal customers for years, bring our families, tipping well and telling all of our friends and families about their restaurant. Now, we will NOT be returning. And we will be telling everyone about the horrible experience, attacking owner and complete disrespect for customers who support their business. One of our go-to places when we are in rown to see our son play lacrosse at SAU. Burgers are really good, menu is eclectic. Nice selection of craft beers. Cobb salad was off the hook.
