We had so much fun at this place! Just like most of the reviewers we bought a groupon as well and decided to give this place a try. We were kind of surprised to find this gem hiding in a busy neighborhood so when we arrived we were kind of thrown off with the location. But once you get there, the vineyard is a really large property. Regardless of the location, we sat down and enjoyed the tasting. You can have a tour of the vineyards but that is optional. We chose to skip on that and get right into the wine tasting. The wines we tried were mostly really sweet. They kept saying that they were the peoples favorites but some of them tasted like straight up grape juice. You also get to socialize with people sitting at your table. After the wine tasting you get to pick one of your favorite wine bottles to take home along with a treehouse vineyard stamped wine glass. It's a nice gift. The setting is really romantic so I suggest this for a date. You can also have the chance to spend time in the real treehouse which looked pretty neat from down there but it is expensive since they charge per hour. read more

The vineyard itself is on beautiful land. I am a huge animal lover and expected to see the animals pictured on their web sight. I was disappointed that the animals were kept far away in a fenced area beyond the vineyard. If you enjoy sweet wines you will like the wine. With that being said, my husband and I weren't a big fan of the wines. We bought a wine tasting packet and were disappointed. It was out back under a tent with a woman announcing the wines over a microphone. It was a HUGE group. (It was not what I was expecting!) The great thing I can say about vineyard is the tree house rentals. You will need to book the rental ahead of time and plan your visit around it. Bring a picnic lunch on a sunny day and you won't be disappointed. read more

I met some members of the staff recently and have been trying to make a trip to visit Treehouse since then. Today I succeeded! We did the noon wine tasting with Breanna. We were able to sample 8 wines for $6, including a glass to take home. The tasting room was fairly busy and one of the girls working seemed a little stressed. We started with a dry Merlot, then did a fruity Chardonnay before moving to the Muscadine wines. I have a good deal of experience with wine and wine tastings. I found this one to be different in a couple of ways: 1. You must stand at the bar unless you are part of a large group. The bar is very high and not large enough for more than 4 people. I didn't find that this was a particular comfortable position. The tasting room is very small. 2. There is a great deal of info given to you in regards to the rentals of the treehouse during the tasting, including photographs and availability. Perhaps people ask about pricing, etc, during tastings often so they decided to include it in the presentation? 3. The wines all have fun, special names, and you get to hear about where they all come from. This gives you a feeling of family and a sense of how much this business is a labor of love. 4. The wines are predominantly sweet. They're priced from $10 to $40. The highest priced is their reserve which you cannot taste but it is a Merlot. 5. They have a gorgeous piece of property and tons of room to explore outside, as well as lots of rocking chairs and tables both covered and open. They encourage picnics and have lots of picnic tables available. They currently have 6 acres of grapes. As for the wines themselves, most of what you'll find is very sweet and fruit-forward. While waiting for our tasting/tour to start we were outside and could hear the tasting "stories" which was kind of annoying because when it came to our tasting we heard the same stories over. Went here with my Mom today; first time for her and second time for me. The first time I went with my fiancé about a year ago I was not very impressed with the wine; however this time the wine tasted much better. Leslie did our wine tasting and Lisa did our wine tour. The wine was overall pretty good. The Date Night, Tack Shed Red, Bailey's Blend and Sunset Hills are by far my favorite. The mulled wine is also very good and you can pick which wine you want in it. I chose the Sunset hills and it was amazing! The Date Night Tree house is right outside the tasting room and when not being rented you can go up and check it out. It is very cool and the property is stunning. Overall, I'm glad I went back and will go back again. read more

If you come to this place knowing it is a muscadine grape winery, you'll be happy here. If you expect regular grape wines, you're in for a surprise, and whether it's a good surprise depends on your palate. Halfway through the tasting, the flavor grew on me (not being a Southerner I'd never had muscadines or scuppernongs before). This place is also fairly cheap compared to some other NC wineries I've been to. If you want to try something regional and new (and are okay with sweet wines), this is the place. The Vineyard sits behind houses. We used a GPS and it led us to the correct location but we bypassed the street thinking we were going the wrong way. We realized we were in the right spot when we saw the vines. The staff were friendly and welcoming. We had a wine tasting and tried several different types of muscadines as well as dry reds. I loved the stories that were told for each wine as well as how they got their names. I absolutely loved the idea and concept of the "winorita" as well as the warm wine mixed with cider. There wasn't any that my husband or I did not like. We bought the winorita kit as well as a wine made with Doreen muscadines. The prices were very reasonable. I really enjoyed the tour. More than I honestly thought I would. It was nice to hear how the process works as well as seeing that there are small businesses who do a lot of their work by hand. There are lots of events that take place during the spring and summer months and there is a cute covered area to sit as well as a treehouse availiable for rent. Such a cute idea for small get togethers. We absolutely loved this place and are looking to not only visit again but stay in the overnight treehouse next year. We LOVE this place. The scenery, staff, wine, and prices, all are exceptional. One complaint: Every time we open their bottles the cork slips into the wine and splashes it all over the place and makes it difficult to pour. They don't use traditional corks, maybe that's the problem. I don't know but it's disappointing. read more

Used the ubiquitous Groupon deal to visit Treehouse Vineyards awhile back. I really enjoyed hearing the story of the vineyard, seeing how their bottling has changed, taking in the grounds, and sampling the wines. The wine itself is very sweet - so it helps to know that going in, especially if you prefer drier wines. I love that all of the wines' names have corresponding stories significant to the owners. The wine-a-rita (wine slush) was the highlight for me. I've only been in the afternoon, but I've heard great things about their live music in the evenings. As many others have mentioned, you'll probably think you've made a wrong turn, somewhere between the flat residential area and huge cemetery, but then all of a sudden you see the vineyard sign, pull into the drive and it looks like you've entered a different world. You really can't beat the Groupon price, and we enjoyed a fun afternoon learning about this local family business. read more

Highly unorganized! We drive an hour to get here at 6pm as their website says open til 10pm. Only to be told you have to buy a cover charge wrist band or leave by 7pm. Really? We purchased 3 wine tasting tickets and were skipped over and never served any wine. I had to go back and demand a refund since we never were served any wine that we paid for. Experienced winos here (from D.C and members of a few wineries around the area), but inexperienced reviewers (to much effort). Tried book the Murder Mystery Dinner for our Anniversary. First went to the site for booking, thought we booked but never received a confirmation. We then followed up with a phone call. The girl who answered the phone was anything but helpful. If you are going don't waste your time getting a fire pit. They had three big logs sitting on top of 6" of wet ashes and they put some lighter fluid on it and that's it. I spend 3 1/2 hours trying to get it started and going. Even though we said something no one came to fix the problem. My advise is to just buy the wine and find somewhere else to drink it read more

It took forever getting there from Charlotte. The traffic is always horrendous after passing over 485. And yes, we got lost thinking it was NOT in a residential neighborhood, it is. Coming home was simple and fast. My friend used a Groupon and took me for my Birthday. What a pleasant and nice birthday present. We sipped on various wines, saw the layout Got a pic of the house behind the vineyard. I would love to live their myself, walk across the backyard and have a sip of wine. Maybe even eat on a couple of Muscadine. LOL Joking. There was a 50th class reunion going on and member of that group gave us the history before we even had the tour. People enjoy this play, yet small, but it makes it even worth coming back, enjoying a tree house rendezvous and buying a bottle just to sit and enjoy the scenery. Came here not expecting too much. What I found was a great little winery. The reds were flavorful but not as dry as I am used to but still very good. The whites were perfect for my wife. The winery is dog friendly so my dog had a good run with the owners dog. I will certainly come back to relax with a glass of wine on one of the rockers and bring a bottle or two home with me. read more

Beware of large dogs without a leash While on my visit today with my two sisters, the co-owner had two very large dogs loose on the property, without a leash. While sitting in a rocker both the dogs approached me. When I turned around they were both approaching my face. I screamed out in fear and grabbed a log from the firepit, to protect myself. The lady said, "They won't hurt you, they just want you to pet them." Then she said, "You would hit a twelve year old dog with a tumor on his leg with a stick?" I don't know about others but when an animal scares me to the point of shaking, I don't stop to get the animals history, and pet him. I got up and start walking fast to go indoors and away from the dogs. I had to make sure they weren't following me while also trying not to fall on the hill, which would be very dangerous and hard on me because I'm almost 60 years old, and a recovering cancer patient. Because it is her property like she said, she would be responsible if I had fallen on the hill, trying to escape the large dogs. The customers should be informed if it is a requirement to pet the dogs that are free to roam the grounds. If I wanted to pet animals I wouldn't have gone to a vineyard, I would have gone to an animal shelter. I was not aware that you had to pet large unleashed dogs at a vineyard. It would have been nice if the website and the property had signs to alert customers of dogs on the property. The owner was more concerned for the freedom of the dogs to have free reign on the property, then she was for the safety of a customer. read more

The wine we wanted was out, and the suggested a substitute, ten bucks more and didn't bother to mention that. They need to ban smoking outside. Cashed in our Groupon today and had a great time. It was really busy but we just fit right in. Everyone was super nice and the wine was very tasty! The slushy was the best part. Couldn't peek inside the treehouse due to fact it was rented but that wasn't a problem. A highly recommended place to visit. Our tour guide was the best. Very informative. No regrets! Love love love this place we've been several times for many events! One of our favorite monroe spots !

I just went to this place for the first time and it was the most horrible experience I have ever had. we checked the website and it said no outside alcohol which makes sense. I arrived and the cooler police rudley asked do you have any outside alcohol ano I said no. she then strip searched my cooler and found contraband water bottles. I said there is nothing on your website about water bottles and she said we just changed the rule. I had to go back to my car and unload my 3 contraband water bottle. while we were sitting waiting on our dilapidated tree house I watched juice boxes, off brand water bottles and outside alcohol fly by. this was after our rushed wine tasting where we mostly enjoyed very sweet muscadine and riesling wines that left sugar crystals in the bottom of our glass. I am a go along and get along person and always follow the published rules but, I drove 50 miles and passed over many great places to get to this terrible place. avoid at all costs spent $300 for a terrible night where even the food truck decided not to show up! read more

My first time here and it was a cool time with my hunni bun and brother and his girl friend. I bought a groupon a while back and needed to use it. So basically it was for four ppl we got souvenir wine glasses as well as a tasting, and two bottles of wine. no bad for the price. The tasting was very beneficial in understanding the wine and there names as well as he told sorties of the property. its a family own business the land has been in the family for 200 years. It rained so we didn't do the tour though they still offered it we would have had to wait a hours after the tasting so we opted out. The tasting was really good all the wine was delicious especially the slushies'. The vineyard consist of about 4 real life tree houses but we didn't do the tour for me to get pics of the inside of the. The venue was having a wedding that day as well so its defiantly a place for celebration. they have a list of events on their website as well. The vineyards were lush and they have 2 horses that roam the property. The staff was knowledgeable about the property and the wines. the winery crazy enough sits in a neighborhood which has a cool story behind it. you should try the tasting to find that out :-) read more

Agree with other reviewers that the atmosphere being tucked into a little neighborhood was awkward. If you love sweet wines you will enjoy the wine tasting. I personally prefer the drier wines so this wasn't the place for me. The website and everything make it seem like a grand place to see but it's not that impressive in my opinion. read more

We went to this place for a live band they had on a Saturday. I would say its more of an older crowd but has a very nice atmosphere. The reason why I gave it a 4 stars is because we couldn't go up to the tree house as it was reserved and I really wanted to go up even if it's just for a few mins. You should probably call and ask whether treehouse patio is reserved! Also, their wine is way but wayyy too sweet. read more

I just went here to use my livingsocial deal. First, don't be put off by the neighborhood, it really sneaks up on you! What a cute, charming, place. I love how the owner's son, runs the tastings and gives a story about every wine and how they came to get their names. The muscadine wines are good, really sweet for me though. I did like the Sunset Hills, red muscadine wine. It is very fragrant and delicious. The wine-a-rita was amazing! I bought a kit to make it at home. It's so refreshing. You must also try their jelly's. The lemonade jelly was surprisingly good! The grounds of the winery were beautiful. Brings some friends and spend a good afternoon out here.
