This is my go to brewery, with a Cheers vibe - where everybody knows your name. The beer is great, their Pterodactyl flagship beer is so good. Many other styles rotating in the tap. All the bartenders are great, friendly and helpful. Strike a conversation with any of them and you'll see how nice they are. The place has plenty of board games, pinball machines, trivia night gets busy or you can go to the early bird Sunday trivia, bingo on Wednesdays, and sometimes Lotería. No food on premises but food trucks are rotating on most nights. Lots of memorabilia, take some time to explore - this is the only place I saw with a Menudo lunchbox in like 45 years! If you're not into beer they have cider and wine too, soda cans, coffee brewed in house (Sugar Creek Coffee Roasters). Also The Green Guild selling more high elevating items. The second my boyfriend and I walked through the door we felt welcomed! The bartender politely greeted us and as we sat down at the bar (opposed to the tables around the place as it's a pretty decent size). We decided on flights as a way to try out their beers and found out they do $1 off flights on Fridays so instead of $7, they were $6. That's a steal... up and charlotte they are charging $12-14 easily for the same flight. Everyone was super nice, both staff and other customers. It's dog friendly and they have treats behind the bar for their furry visitors and they know it! Great music. 90s movies playing. Seemed like they had a lineup of weekly events and discounts on a regular basis which is cool for those who live in the area. The beer was just so-so, I've definitely had better but it wasn't horribly undrinkable. My boyfriend and I like different types of beer... he is more of an IPA guy and I'm more of a lighter, fruity gal. Overall we felt like they were just very generic tasting. Nothing to write home about, but just fine for a Friday afternoon indulgence. They also have a coffee shop connected which makes sense as to why they have several coffee flavored beers, if that's your thing :) Overall the atmosphere, prices and friendliness of staff & customers were top notch! This place is amazing and definitely worth 5 stars. Sweet Union is such a fun place with an amazing ambiance to hang out with family and friends while having a cold brew, a beer or a cider and watching your favorite game or just playing some pimball or trivia. The menu has quite a few options of beers. We tried the blackberry cider, the cold brew and sweet tea with coffee, and they were all amazing!! The service was great and common areas were clean. The location is in a shopping plaza with its own free parking lot. There is also a coffee roasters place inside, so you can also enjoy local coffee. 100% recommended and can't wait to come back! read more

The Charlotte area has no shortage of breweries, so it is easy to miss out on some great ones, and Sweet Union Brewing is just that! Located in Indian Trail tucked away in a shopping center, it doesn't look like much from the outside, but inside you'll find an eclectic space filled with pinball machines and some old arcade games that really lends to a chill atmosphere. The place doubles as a cafe as they serve coffee as well so don't be confused when you enter and smell roasted coffee beans! It's a cool spot to relax with friends and enjoy some beverages. I had the Bootlegger's Light Logger which I enjoyed, but they seem to be really known for their Astro Pterodactyl IPA. I'm not an IPA guy myself but my friend who is highly recommends it! They don't serve food inside but they have a line up of food trucks that they post inside for the weekly schedule and there is a solid variety there. Overall this place doesn't do anything revolutionary but it is a solid brewery that provides what you are looking for in a taproom and if I was a local to the area I could definitely see myself hanging here pretty regularly. read more

We had a great quick visit! All of the beers we tried were great - favorites with the hibiscus lime sour, black lager, breakfast porter and chai-hard cider. They have a few snacks available and several arcade games that was great for our daughter (and us ). They also have an area full of kids toys, games, coloring books and crayons. The bathrooms were clean and had "normal potties" as our 4 year old says. Service was also great! The other side is focused on coffee and smelled delicious. Tons of parking as well. read more

This is my 3rd time coming here. I actually didn't stay the 2nd time because when I walked in there were kids running around. They had a Groupon for a tasting and pint glass and it had been over a year, so decided 3rd time's the charm. Sadly, there was a shrieking baby this time around. I just will NEVER UNDERSTAND why the hell u bring a baby to a brewery? Well, I guess I do, you're selfish and have no respect that not everyone finds the blood-curdling shrieks of your spawn endearing whilst just trying to enjoy an adult beverage. If I have to be 21+ to drink it, it should hold that u have to be 21+ to be in the vicinity of me trying to enjoy my adult beverage. Sadly, this will be my last time coming here. I just honestly cannot deal w/the kids, babies, and inconsiderate parents who think this is OK. The beer and staff are fantastic, but if I can't be in a place that doesn't have them running around or shrieking to be able to enjoy them in peace, then it is a hard pass for me. Wish this place the best and if that kind of thing doesn't bother you, then I recommend stopping in. They do great flights and have an awesome, collectible pint glass. But, if you are like me, and that sort of thing impedes you from enjoying your beer experience, then consider yourself warned. read more

The pterodactyl and the sweet tater beer are by far the best ! We have been coming for years. Rachel and James are the best. Service is beyond amazing. Have since moved to ATL but we visit NC every 6 months and stop in every time. It's completely regular but in the nerdy neighborhood bar way. It's meant to look like someone's man cave or awesome arcade basement. The coffee is smooth and puts its neighbor Starbucks to shame. They don't serve food but have food trucks 3-4 days a week. If there's no food we bring Cook Out or pizza over and enjoy our brews. Flights are a great place to start for beginners. It's kid friendly and unpretentious. Good beer in a friendly brewery! I like the coffee blonde style beers so I found No Cream No Sugar as much an enjoyable beer for those of us in the blonde beer club. I like the flavors and the coffee notes. My all time favorite is Wooden Robot Good Morning Vietnam and Cabarrus Vanilla Coffee blonde beer from that brewery. So most of my comparisons go to those two. This No Cream No Sugar is quality coffee flavors but a bit flat in comparison to my favorites. The brewery is a small building in the back of the parking lot by the fitness building. They had a food truck but we didn't eat. Was in Indian Trail with my husband and thought we'd stop in here and try a new beer in a new place. When we pulled up to what used to be an old blockbuster video back in the day, I had no idea just how much I was going to like this spot. The decor is wonderfully "geek-driven"...I don't know a better way to describe it, but it's awesome! The beer is fantastic, and we were pleasantly surprised by everything we tried. I will say that every beer we tried tended to lean more towards pretty hoppy (which we liked, but might not be everyone's cup of tea...or beer lol). The vibe is very laid back and chill. We happened to pop in on trivia night and had a blast. Can't wait to go back here for good beer and trivia next Thursday! read more

What a wonderful addition to the area! My wife and I got a groupon for a couple of flights and ventured out to the brewery on a Raining evening. The place is in an older shopping center off 74 by the cook out and biscuitville, where a Blockbuster used to be (for you youngin's that's where we used to have to drive to in order to rent a VHS movie for $4/night). The tap room is a modest size, nothing huge but big enough. The brewing area is tiny - it was impressive they had such a wide selection. The flight was good - with multiple IPA's and the Pale Ale garnering high scores from me. A live blue grass band was playing on one end, with dart boards and board games located on the other side. Tables and chairs are random, mismatched tables. The lighting was horrible - very dark, especially with it being rainy - made the place appear a little dull. Luckily the short-haired blonde bartender was friendly, helpful, and passionate about the place to add a bit of light to the room. We got a growler filled of Blondina for a hot afternoon that we enjoyed the other week and are excited to visit again! Hopefully the sun will be out the next visit or the lights are on to get the last star! read more

I was excited to find this cool brewery tucked away in little Indian Trail! My sis and I wanted something cold and flavorful to enjoy so I searched beer and found this gem. Its located in a strip mall off highway 74. The bartenders were friendly and helpful with my sister's allergies and due to their knowledge they were able to suggest beers she could enjoy. I wanted to try several so I settled on a flight: Chamomile stout, Peter piper red, Belgian, and IPA which was recommended even though I don't love IPAs... it was so balanced and great! I enjoyed all the beers and will be back. The place is spacious and comfortable with beautiful hand crafted wood accents. The bartenders also mentioned they have yoga classes, cool! There's a small refrigerator behind the bar with Boar's Head meat and cheese and some chips for purchase too. Come support small breweries! read more

I don't like to throw shade on any business...they are sticking their necks out and giving it a go, but I was a bit disappointed in our visit. Let me start by saying the beertender was an absolute joy. Can't be any nicer. The beer...I was with two other guys on trivia night. We had five different beers....we looked at each other and offered sip of our beers because we all thought the same thing...there was a slight...very slight difference in taste between the brews. They looked different but kinda tasted similar. The trivia was ok but the area has a stronger and a little more fun trivia nights around. 16 questions and a bit narrow in focus took some of the fun out. We won't be going back but the bar and the staff are really nice folks. read more
