This place missed the mark for me. The sashimi appetizer was a risk, I get that. The preparation was wonderful, the fish, not so good. I had a chicken sandwich with the beet salad. Beet salad I would recommend though it is heavy on greens. Chicken Sandwich was 2 fried chicken tender things that were just off. We were in Leadville for a few days for some hiking and ended up at this spot twice. We showed up on a Wednesday to a killer wait but was able to make reservations for later. The next time we preemptively made reservations. They had signs posted apologizing for slow service and our waitress apologized multiple times the first night but I thought it moved along fine. The second time did drag, but that was more due to an inattentive server. Both times the food was great and the prices were right. I had the fried chicken and chicken sandwich and Mac and cheese. We also tried the peach bruschetta. The corn bread looked awesome but was massive and we didn't feel like taking it on. Overall great spot if you are in town. This restaurant was a very pleasant surprise, wonderful food with an interesting selection of entrees and appetizers and a very helpful staff with prompt service. The food quality was excellent considering being in a mountain town off the usual tourist paths like Aspen or Vail. The setting is rustic with some modern twists. The prices are reasonable as well. Why would you drive all the way to Aspen when the food at Treeline in Leadville is better. Family run , this is a gem of a restaurant. Menu is terrific with daily specials. As the owner said, " it's all about flavor" and of course ingredients ( locally sourced as much as possible, lamb, beef, pork) . I had lamb one night black cod the next. Starters ( wontons stuffed with crab, beet salad) are great. The service team makes you feel like a regular. Booths have zinc tops. The bar is great and the bartender is a pro. Leadville's hipster eatery has a lot to offer. The menu is varied enough that you can go for a small bite and drinks, or a hearty full dinner. I've eaten here with friends, with family, on dates, on my own and it always is a great experience. Sometimes it feels like they are trying to be hipper than they need to be, but the flavors of their food are pretty good and the cocktails are sensational. We've always had great service and good times in this place. If the fried chicken sandwich is on the menu, get that, like get it! It's the yummiest thing they serve. Treeline is touted as the 'fancy restaurant' on the main drag of Leadville. And it may in fact be the best restaurant in town. But in short, it was quite mediocre. I will say that that service was great. Patrick was attentive and polite while giving recommendations as needed. The cocktails were also above average. They were not mind blowing, but solid. The food however, really fell flat. I ordered the lentil and crab soup that was on special. The soup came out very quickly, but was just above room temperature and lacking flavor. Also ordered were the meatballs, which were actually decent and probably the best bite of the night. The flourless chocolate cake desert was ok. It came with cream that also lacked any flavored. Overall, Treeline offers quality service and potential. The food could be improved by just going bolder with the seasoning and making sure it is hot when it gets to the table. I genuinely hope that the chef takes this as constructive criticism and takes the good to the next level. read more

Such a cute place in the middle of the mountains! My friend and I stopped on our way through Leadville for a bite to eat, and here are our thoughts: My meal, the glazed tofu was tangy, zesty, and refreshing! The seaweed salad was actually my favorite part, followed closely by the peanutty tofu. The rest spring rolls were crunchy, but I didn't care for the fish sauce that came with them for dipping. I wish it had been a peanut sauce or something, the fish sauce was very runny and mild. My friend's meal included the Treeline salad and the skillet mac and cheese. Her review: the salad was crunch and tasty, and a healthy serving. The mac and cheese was everything the opposite: it wasn't flavorful and it was SO RUNNY. Like, dripping cream-colored water runny, with some melted cheese on top. We took half of it to go and it leaked out all over the seat of the car. Gross. This review still has 4 stars cause the service is prompt and friendly and we still each had a dish we enjoyed. Just, don't get the mac and cheese. read more

We had made a reservation more than a week in advance and requested a pod on the roof. We totally understood that these pods weren't guaranteed and were on a 1st come, 1st serve basis. We checked in with the hostess and she took us 3 flights to the roof and told us they had a pod available. Once we got to the roof, the hostess told us that another couple who were sitting on the deck got cold and helped themselves to our pod. Instead of requesting that they vacate the pod, they let them stay in it and told us they " mismanaged" the situation and we were left out in the cold, so to speak.... I then approached a woman who described herself as the acting GM that evening who seemed put out by my explanation of the situation and did nothing to rectify the situation. In fact, she offered my a 'free sticker' for my troubles. WTH Needless to say, the situation was handled extremely poorly and management didn't seem to care or remove the poachers. She was always checking up on our needs in a chill not weird way. Although there were only about 6 vegan options (2 sides and 3salads, 1 entree), the food was super filling. My husband had the tofu entree and he liked its spicy zest. I had the Colorado lettuce salad and butter squash side which actually was super delish and paired nicely (plus I was super full). Not sure why this place has an average of 4.5 stars. I would never go back here. I ordered 1 of only 4 dishes on the main menu...the vegetable curry. There were no vegetables and the flavor only bore the faintest resemblance to a curry. Also I think of curry as having a sauce and rice involved...this plate actually consisted of oddly flavored potatoes and garbanzo, a flavorless red slaw which I could only imagine was their take on kimchi...? Idk, it was weird. And a bland blob of acorn squash sprinkled with pumpkin seeds. This was all adorned with with store bought slab of Naan My boyfriend did try to get them to exchange it but I really hadn't been impressed with any of their tasteless food. We miss our friends at Treeline Kitchen, but we were happy to get curbside pick up last night! We got the shrimp scampi special (which included a 1/2 bottle of wine), the blackened cod, and the crispy wontons. The wontons are a staple, and we get them every time we go! We also had their tasty spicy jalapeño margaritas, which is one of the best cocktails they have in our opinion! It was such a great idea to have pre-made liters to go! Support local business, everyone! We can not wait to sit at the bar and listen to live music by Tim and Christine very soon. In the meantime, stay safe! The owners and entire staff were so friendly. I noticed a couple improvements that could be made on the service side and that's the only reason I'm giving a 4 instead of 5. Wish I could give 4.5 actually. These were very minor and are listed below. - For the people who ordered soup it took a while to track down a couple spoons (as spoons aren't on the table initially). Also the spoons provided were not "soup spoons". I would suggest the server provide a soup spoon to the table once someone orders soup or at least make sure any food runner delivers it with the item. - It also took about 5-10 minutes to get greeted and to checkout (Like I said they were busy). It's exciting to see a restaurant of this caliber to be this busy in a town like Leadville. Oh and did I mention they have a Happy Hour from 3:30-5:30pm w/ drink AND appetizer discounts? We read some great reviews and knew the price range and something about the menu. Would love to give a better review but this trip had some issues that simple prevent it. There are apparently daily chef specials no on the menu so I decided to try one. This was a veggie based curry dish with a red cabbage slaw on the side. Usually curry means south Asian influence and having some spice. This dish was so bland it had no kick and no flavor. Basically some noddles, a few chickpeas and water. Should have sent it back but others at the table would have been finished before a replacement arrived. My partner's cod was fantastic so not all was lost. It might help to look at pictures of some menu items and get a detailed description before ordering. read more

First time to Leadville and Treeline was recommended. It was a Thursday night, about 6:30-6:45, and the the place was not very busy. When we asked for a table for 2, the hostess hesitated and spent some time searching for a table on her tablet and I said we'd be happy to eat at the bar; she thanked us but said she had a table for us. I was curious and checked their website to see if we should have made a reservation and according to the reservation app (Resy) it was wide open for both the dining room and hightops in the bar. Every 15 minutes, there were tables available for the remainder of the night, so we thought it was odd she made us feel she was doing us a favor by seating us. We were taken to a table, had a great dinner (delicious food) and ordered a couple of drinks. The second drink took a little while to get, but there were still 4-5 empty tables of 4. At about 7:45, halfway through our second drinks, the hostess appeared and said they needed our table for a reservation. NEVER ONCE did she tell us our time would be limited. Even the people next to us were shocked as they, too, looked around the restaurant at the other empty tables and agreed it was rude to ask us to leave. When we did leave, no one was was waiting in the entryway/lobby. Had the hostess said that we needed to vacate the table at a certain time, that would have been just fine--at least we would have been warned and would not have ordered a second drink. Also, had we known, we would have sat at the bar as we offered to do!! But we were in the middle of enjoying our second drink, chatting, and sharing pictures we had taken that day, when we were asked to leave. Because the food was delicious, we were considering returning the next night (tomorrow), but right then and there, we decided not to. My husband was so irritated, that 30 minutes later, he walked back to the restaurant (we stayed just a block away) and he peeked inside; there were still open tables. Again, we would have had no problem making it a quick meal had we known we had to leave at a certain time. We felt embarrassed leaving and extremely irritated. So I recommend making sure up front if you will be kicked out! read more

What a delicious find in Leadville. Ambience is casual and decor gently reflects the mountain mining history. The food is as much as possible, locally sourced, the service was professional and excellent. The highlight of the evening was the roast vegetables. Tasty, varied and perfectly roasted. We all said that we could eat those again and again. The appetizers were creative and delicious and my gluten free friend was well looked after. Perhaps a little more seasoning on the blackened cod would give more flavor but otherwise a wonderful evening and well worth the find. Congratulations! read more

Not good. First the menu was changed there wasn't cornbread. After reading a previous review I guess we got lucky on that. My wife ordered the chicken sandwich and it was barely warm and you can't even get mayo for it. I ordered the fried chicken, it and the chicken for the chicken sandwich were precooked both were hardly warm. They came out in within 5 minutes. The fried chicken was so small the leg was the size of a drummette on a wing. Had to ask for salt and pepper. It was slow there tonight but the waitress never checked on us or refilled my ice tea. Where do I begin? Spent 3 nights in Leadville, tried to get in the first two nights with no success then wised up to the fact you need a reservation. Was it worth it on night 3? Well there was a mixed review from our table. I had the lamb pasta and it was fabulous, the lamb was so tender and there was this dollop of goat cheese that just made the dish! My husband had the beef stroganoff. Now not your home made beef stroganoff from granny's, but very tasty. Only complaint was the egg noodles were mush and I mean that literally. Expressed that tidbit to the server but she didn't seem to care. Hence the 4 stars instead of 5. Two kids had Mac n cheese and the potato apres ski (fancy term for loaded baked, then mashed, then fried potato). They were thrilled. Other kid got the special which was seared ahi tuna steak. She was giddy too. Finally we also had the tuna tar tar, well I guess we had that first because it was an appetizer, and it was a big hit. So as you can see other than a mishap on the egg noodles in the stroganoff and lack of interest from the server, this place is excellent......don't forget that reservation.... read more
