We've used Trees 'N Things for several years. They quote fair, competitive prices, and they're professional, reliable, on time, and most important to me, they work SAFEly. They are also thoughtful about leaving a clean work site and very efficient. I'm sure there are many "tree trimmers" out there who will come out and quote a great price; but my guess is not all are licensed, insured, or have the right equipment or experienced personnel. It's that time of year again, and unless I want my backyard to look like a jungle, I have to get all my trees and plants cut back. Trees N Things did such a great job last year I called them again. Obviously other people know they do great work because I had a six week lead time from when Nick came out to estimate my job and when they could do the work. The wait is worth it. Just like last year, they skillfully trimmed my 25+ foot ficus trees, my overgrown carrotwood, and my Birds of Paradise(s) while always considering how the finished product will look. They showed up promptly at 7:30am (yikes) with a crew of ~15 guys. They knocked out the whole job in ~2.5 hours which blew my mind. I had a 100 year old Tree that is a protected tree. I could not leave this job to an amateur as preservation was of the highest consideration. Trees and things brought a pro team, and did an absolute excellent job. I had other trees on the property and they were very honest about what did and did not need trimming as well. It's our condo's fault for hiring them but they came into my patio and took my iron chair, put it in the only flowerbed on top of my ranuculas and bouganvilla, and then put a huge bag of dirt on top of it! They are unsuited to work in a gardened home environment--DO NOT HIRE If you have to for some reason, insist on a warning before they come so they can be supervised. EDIT while I appreciate the response, since this is the second time this company has without permission messed with my plants and patio, I feel compelled to wait until they come again to see if their work ethic has improved. read more

Tree service from Trees N Things was completed last week. I found the recommendation on Yelp and I was first impressed with Nick the arborist who came out last month to give me a quote. The 50ft tall Western sycamore was long overdue for a trimming as well as a smaller Chinese Elm in the backyard. Also in the backyard was a Mesquite that had grown into the power lines and a Tree of Heaven growing in the fence and the power lines, and a dead Loquat, all removed. They arrived at 9:30am, (having given a window of 9-Noon) With all the equipment and a crew of 12. They were done with the work and finished by sweeping up the debris by 11:30am. They were friendly, helpful, and efficient. They did not argue, when I didn't want the blower used in the backyard clean up, but picked up the broom and swept it all up. When I wanted a couple of blocks from one of the trunks to use in the yard, they cut them cleanly and asked for my approval. They were careful of the other trees and plants in the yard, creating protective barriers when appropriate. They were courteous to my neighbors, and made sure that their yards were clean as well. When trimming the trees along the back fence they didn't drop a single limb into the neighbor's yard. Adept and acrobatic they really did an amazing job. I chose Trees N Things after the quote, because they showed me a before and after photo of a previous client's Western Sycamore and it was lovely work. I was not about to let anyone just wack and hack on the Queen of our yard, as I had seen other services do in the neighborhood. In talking to the crew this morning, their goal is to leave the tree aesthetically pleasing and if you didn't know what it looked like before, you might not notice it had been trimmed, it's just much healthier. It is exactly what I wanted and what they delivered today. I even noticed that the hummingbird nest is still hanging in the tree. We have a giant Mulberry Tree in our backyard that SCE had trimmed in half. Nick and his crew came over on time and were able to sculpt my tree back to a more proportional shape. They were very careful not to break my wire lights I had hanging from the tree to my patio. Afterwards they cleaned up all the leaves and branches that had fallen to the ground.
