I dropped off my stroller to get the tire replaced at about 6:30pm with Mark. I was told to leave it in the back, and that it would take approximately 15 minutes. He suggested I wait at the Starbucks next door and would give me a call when he was done. I waited patiently for 30-45 minutes before walking back only to find a closed store. I would not have minded if I had to leave the stroller overnight if it was needed, but I was told it would take 15 min, waited like an idiot at Starbucks when I could have gone home, and felt indignant that there was no courtesy phone call to let me know it was taking longer than expected and to come back tomorrow. Talk about overpromising and severely underdelivering. read more

Bicycle Superstore - Covid Pandemic style. I had been shopping online and decided on a bike (eMTB) but walked into the La Mesa store during my lunch on a whim. There were a couple of people waiting outside and there were 'lanes' for Service and for Purchase and for Pick-Up which was smart. A couple of other people arrived behind me and the employees did an excellent job of checking every few minutes to make sure expectations were set, people weren't in line for nothing, etc.Once inside my Trek Powerfly was standing right there, waiting for me; I added a car rack, helmet and cable lock and was on my way after maybe 30 minutes. Updating based on the service department. I brought in the old Trek 1000 I had purchased last year and abused to the tune of about 4000 miles with no tuneup. They had a rather long waiting period before they could get to it, BUT ... the work was completed as orders and done VERY well on most importantly ... ON TIME! I got the call at Noon on the day they said it would be done. It runs smooth as silk now. It is gonna get a LOT more miles this year ... with fuel prices as they are. Today I walked into the store with my son to get him a new FS mountain bike. This was mid afternoon on a Tuesday, not busy at all. We got no greeting and even after roaming around the store in front of the many mountain bikes for over 5 mins we were still not acknowledged. My son had his eye on a bike that I was ready to buy. I was also looking for a bike for myself. I figured I could speak to a "professional" here but I was mistaken. Customer service is a big thing for me and this store is severely lacking. My son and I took our business elsewhere. If it weren't for that lack of customer service and the lack of just being a friendly human being from not just 1 but over three "professionals" on the showroom floor that I remember. they would have gained a loyal customer today. After standing by the bikes for another 5 mins or so with "Professionals" walking passed us without a hello or eye contact we decided to walk out and away from a bike my son had been eyeing. I have to agree with everyone on here and say that these guys have amazing customer service and are NOT pushy what so ever. TIM was the one that helped us when we first went to the store and he was one of the most patient people I've ever met. I'm very ignorant when it comes to bikes but he took the time to explain everything to me. He even looked up all the different colors of ALL the different models I liked (I can only imagine how annoying that was for him). He didn't make me feel annoying at all and he really took the time to make sure I was getting a bike that I liked. My husband and I chose 2 bikes and one had to be ordered in. Tim was AMAZING about communicating with me while the bike was being shipped in. He e-mailed me frequently giving me updates about the bike and when it would arrive. The bike got in on a day that Tim was off. I was really sad he wouldn't be there to make the final sale to us but then we got RICHARD. Richard was SO knowledgeable and really really cool. We wanted to add on a few last things to our order(patch kits, helmets, H2O bottles etc..) and Richard patiently walked us through the store giving us very honest answers on products they had there. After trying on 5 different helmets, I finally found one that I liked but I wanted it in matte black, ( I know, I'm the worst customer ever). Richard was so happy to help and went into the back to find me the color I wanted. He came out with several different helmets and told me to take my time. After bombarding Richard for what seemed like several hours, he finally got everything we wanted and my husband and I are both SO happy with our new stuff! Overall: AMAZING staff. Great selection at this store and they are willing to ship in (took about 1 week for a bike), and TIM & RICHARD are very helpful. read more

My favorite Trek location, second would be the north county location. All the workers are very helpful and knowledgeable. Larry (the manager) walked me through the different kinds of bikes within my price range and really blew me away. Also did research online and two days later I bought a bike at the north county Trek location (only because I wanted the bike NOW and did not want to wait for Trek to transport it for free for me). But I got my bike and shoes fitted at the La Mesa Trek and loved the service. Fred was very detail oriented and made sure my bike and shoes were set up just right for me =) I definitely felt like I was well taken care of and would highly recommend this store to others! Awesome store for any/all bikes you may want & accessories! We bought our son his first shifting bike August 2017 for the start of 7th grade & they were great at helping him find just the right bike... in performance, comfort & style. Unfortunately, some scumbag stole his bike after 3 weeks. I couldn't locate the paperwork to file a police report, so I went to the store & they were happy to look up the serial # (got a full refund through Chase's credit card protection plan:). He borrowed a friends bike for the remainder of 7th grade until we could move back to our house (moved to a crappy area while our house was being remodeled), & we got him a new bike for the start of 8th grade & they were just as friendly & helpful as a year earlier. They suggest other items to buy, which as good employees they should, but they're not even remotely pushy or aggressive about it. Some of the stuff didn't occur to us to get, but we were happy they did suggest them... like reinforced bike tubes for the tires (he got 2 flats in a week the first time around due to those little sticker things from trees that are sharp). He hasn't had a flat since getting them in the new bike. They offer a free maintenance class once a month to show you how to properly maintain your bike, & after a few months, they offer a free checkup to readjust chains, cables, etc. Great store to shop! read more

The best bike shop I have been to in San Diego! Hands down out does any other Trek store in the San Diego area. I purchased a Cervelo S5 Rival at another Trek store, I drive an extra 7 miles to go to this location because of the great service. Whenever I am here I get undivided attention and never feel as if I am being pressured into the more expensive item. By nature, Trek stores might be slightly more expensive than some of the smaller shops, but I know they will have items in stock and will have a professional in there helping out so that the customer makes the right decision. I don't normally yelp a lot of businesses and I've never yelped a bike shop before but the excellent service I received at this shop has compelled me to write this today. I'm an avid cyclist and have been to just about every shop in San Diego. I typically buy a new bike or 2 every year. I recently was in the market for another road bike and initially went to Trek in Kearny Mesa. I found the bike I wanted but snoozed on it. I went back in to purchase it 2 weeks later and the Kearny Mesa location was out of my size but the sales person told me there was one at La Mesa. I got in the car and called La Mesa and was greeted by Tim over the phone. He verified that he had the bike I wanted in my size and I asked him to hold it for me and that I would be on my way shortly. I got to the shop and was greeted by Tim. Tim then acknowledged that he indeed have the bike but that it had not been assembled. During my drive to the shop he immediately had his mechanic begin assembling the bike and while I waited I had a great conversation with Tim who is exceptional at his job. He is extremely welcoming and helpful and made this the easiest bicycle purchase I've ever had. I don't say this lightly as I've probably purchased 15-20 bikes in the past 8 years, his customer service was unlike anything I've experienced at a bike shop. The bike was assembled quickly and professionally and Tim was kind enough to throw in some SPDs and gave me a 2 for 1 deal on some bottle cages and had the mechanic install them as well. I typically stay away from the big box retailers but the service here is incredible and puts a lot of the smaller boutique shops to shame. This is a very cool shop. Every person on the is not only friendly and helpful, they are truly passionate about biking. A lot of shops have knowledgeable staff, but these guys and gals seem genuinely interested in caring about not just your bike, but your entire biking experience. All that on top of being very knowledgeable. I consider myself to be more of an "entry level" enthusiast, and they always offer great tips and make me feel comfortable about asking tons of questions. I went to get some brakes put on 20 inch bike I have!Ten minute job tops by even a beginner!They tell me 3 weeks till they get to my bike!My complaints are there were 4 to 5 bicycle techs in back just sitting around talking and laughing not working on a single bike!This is bad business for any customer to see!And you winder why your behind 3 weeks to do a brake job!Which consists of 2 bolts and running a brake cable!Come on man get some people that actually want to work!Shouldn't have to wait 3 weeks when you have 5 people in the back doing not a damn thing!I believe working on bikes is your job especially when customers can watch and see your work your not doing!Expensive and rude folks too! read more

These guys are awesome. We live in Bonita so we're closer to the Chula Vista store, but due to the reviews we went to this store instead... and are we glad we did! My wife and I special ordered a pair of Electra Townies and they arrived last week, and we picked them up on Friday. It took a while to assemble our bike rack in preparation for picking up the bikes, then I missed a freeway change on the way, which put our arrival time right at closing. But when I called, they said to come on in. When we got there they were finalizing our safety check, we took quick test rides, signed our Bike Delivery Checklists, and were on our way as they turned the lights off and locked up. We brought our bikes home and realized that the installation of the accessories I'd purchased for my wife's bike (wicker basket, bell, side view mirror, cup holder) was a bit more involved than I'd expected, so we decided to take it back to Trek for installation. The guys spent quite a while in the back installing, a couple of different guys checked on a rattling fender on my bike, and meanwhile the guys up front were extremely friendly, helpful, funny, and really made the whole experience fun. After all that work our bill was just $20! I found out later they give pretty good discounts on maintenance and repair services if you buy your bike there. Sweet! Sure, it's a 20 minute drive from our house vs. 10-12 min to the Chula Vista store, but we're gonna keep coming back to La Mesa! read more

I have been restoring an old 10 speed and returning to cycling after a 40 year break. Their service is excellent and very friendly. Many of their parts come with a "try it and bring it back if you don't like it" satisfaction warranty. So far I've liked every recommended part I've bought and they don't try and sell me something expensive when cheaper will do fine for me. Recently they removed a very stuck freewheel (the gears on the rear axle) while I waited and charged me near nothing even though I bought the replacement part used elsewhere. The service here is excellent! One of the workers, Trevor, helped me. He took me to this machine after asking what kind of bike I was looking for. It was really cool because it scanned my body and then changed its parts until it fit the size of my body as well as the style of bike I was looking for. Then he had me get on and petal to make sure it fit just right, adjusting different parts the whole time. He also gave me tips and info on what to look for to make sure the size was right, as well as how my weight should be distributed, and much more. I have purchased bikes from Trek - so I am loyal. However, the inability to stand behind their product and their vendors is awful. My left crank broke. After some searches and discussions with Ashley and Maverick - all agreed that the product is defective and has been a known issue. FSA, the vendor, will not replace the crank because they don't make it anymore. Not my problem. Trek just keeps kicking the can down the road - pointing fingers at the crank vendors. Again, not my problem. Trek is not standing by their product. They want to sell me an entire crank system for $400 and graciously discounting to $320. Again, not my problem. I need a left crank that was clearly defective. Oh - and they still have my bike after 5 weeks. Seems that can just keeps getting farther and farther down the road. Awful service and will not stand by their product. Shameful. read more

He taught me a course on bicycle repair and maintenance. and one day when my bike was having problems shifting I brought it in and told him my situation. He said he had no space in the back to fit my bike and he couldn't hold it overnight so what did he do? he put my bike on stand and repaired it in the middle of the store!! I bought my first bike there and will buy my next one there as well. everyone in the store is friendly and know what they are talking about. and I also got an invite to a demo day to try out $4,000 bikes. They even gave me a free professional bike fitting and I feel a lot more comfortable on the bike as a result.
