My gums hours after my cleaning.

I had been going to Tremont dental care since 2016, and am very disappointed in needing to write this. For anyone else who has had a negative experience, please be aware that The office manager will threaten to sue you for deformation if you don't remove a review. That is against yelp's policy, and your rights. I do suspect that I'm not the only one, since all of their negative reviews were taken down. I was told by The office manager if I remove my review, she would reduce the cost of my $760 bill to $500. I removed them, and got charged the full amount. Which was not the first time she gave me false information. She didn't respond to many email. If you need any kind of surgery or procedure, do NOT trust that Tremont dental care will call your insurance and discuss it. I was told incorrect information that I would be charged and my insurance would cover the rest, and ended up paying for a procedure out of pocket. My last bill clearly states that the estimated In calling my insurance, which was $330 out of a roughly 2k procedure. I sadly found out the truth and was unable to have Tremont dental to agree to a payment plan, which was great to spend during covid. Make sure to call your insurance and to potentially have to file a claim yourself for reimbursement. If you do choose to try this office out, I suggest asking for J. or G. as your hygienist. They are both very kind, and check in to see if you're doing okay. Do NOT see Anyone else. My records highlight that I was sensitive throughout my procedure, and I had previously had gum surgery on the area my hygienist was aggressively scraping. My records state that I was properly informed of what she was doing, I was not. I was in pain throughout my cleaning and she didn't stop until she almost pierced my cheek because I jumped in pain. She scolded me about that, and I refused to let her continue. I do suspect she didn't tell the full story when asked about it. After my partial cleaning, I was asked if I wanted X-rays. I declined. My gums were bleeding and inflamed, and my jaw was so irritated I had issues speaking properly for some time. I did not trust this hygienist to go near my mount. I was very nervous about my new gum graft after this, and had to come back and see the periodontist and get a secondary cleaning at a third visit. It took multiple calls to get the office manager or anyone to speak with me as I tried frantically to be seen again due to the pain. Tremont dental care does not have digital records of your medical records that you can access. I had asked for my full medical history multiple times, and was told no until I sent over highlights of HIPAA. 'With limited exceptions, the HIPAA Privacy Rule (the Privacy Rule) provides individuals with a legal, enforceable right to see and receive copies upon request of the information in their medical and other health records maintained by their health care providers and health plans.' I finally got these records mailed to me, which is why I know the breakdown of costs.

Things came to a head when I wrote an email to the office manager saying I had an unsettling and chaotic appointment, detailing what transpired. The response I received was shocking and infantilizing. There were many ways she could have responded or even apologized, but instead, my complaint was blamed on my PERSONAL CHALLENGES, yes, she wrote PERSONAL CHALLENGES! She ignored most of what I wrote, like how I was still upset that the last person who took X-rays left me with cuts and sores in my mouth for weeks, how I should not have paid for the X-rays- ZERO acknowledgement of this issue. I waited a few weeks to look at my records because I was still upset from our email exchange but now after reading the notes in my records, I am sick to my stomach. Exact notes including the soooooo and sooo from the person who cleaned my teeth. 6/16/20 -pt soooooo anxious about me cleaning her teeth today, she is sooo afraid of #8 falling out. Not noted, #8 (new tooth) fell out TWO TIMES. Yes, I was a hot mess (still am) with anxiety because of the tooth falling out TWO TIMES. 6/17/21- Patient's anxiety is very irrational due to having had an accident when she was 6 years old. WRONG and inaccurate - I was in the SIXTH grade (not 6 years old), I fell and knocked my teeth out while ice skating. It was during this time that my childhood dentist, Dr. Lucia of Lynn, MA, abused me while under sedation and was eventually arrested for insurance fraud. His shoddy and negligent work led to years of ongoing dental issues, which will continue for the rest of my life. I shared this information. I shared again and again that ANYONE in my mouth causes me anxiety. Even my last note is wrong. 2/29/25- patient NO SHOW. Not noted: 11/12/24 - I left this appointment in tears. I did not make or confirm my next appointment. I was devastated that I had a cracked crown and angry that the dentist did not discuss my gums after having had gum surgery in August. I may not have had a voice when I was in the SIXTH grade, but I have a voice now.

She's clinically and technically fantastic, but her bedside manner (chair-side?) is great, too. She's comfortable and natural, but also involves you in your care, showing you what's going (they have a camera to take pics of your teeth so you can see what she's seeing), and helps you make informed decisions about what's best for you. And she's really balanced about it. I've never felt pushed into any decision, and equally never felt like she was too busy to take care of something. If she has time, she gives it to you. And if she doesn't, she and her staff have always been fantastic at figuring something out so you can get it taken care of soon and conveniently. I've been a patient for 7 years. I used to work near her office, so it was convenient, but not anymore. Despite that, I'm happy to make the trek into the city to see Dr. Aiken because I know I'm getting excellent care from someone who cares. I can say that about her staff, too.

While I was with the hygienist cleaning my teeth Dr Aiken came in and asked what was going on-I told her and she said let me take a look. She looked at the area and said i can refer a implant/prosthodontics who is the best. (It was already explained I had seen two dentists and hadn't made a decision) I was charged for a full exam. I didn't realize at the time and I had paid up front. Dr Aiken would not refund my money. She offered me a free exam but because of the dental work I'm having done it did not make sense, I would not need an exam for quite some time. I tried reaching out so many times to resolve this but she would not return my calls. Red Flag. Do not go to this dentist. With all of her years of experience she would know she did not give me an exam yet she charged me. I feel she must be desperate for money (I was a new resident in the area and was in search of a good dentist). I would Not recommend this dentist. I thought this was pretty shady. You can't mistakenly charge for an exam when you didn't do one...

The notice said it was my "final notification before collections" -- yet this was literally the first time I had ever been contacted about it. The office has my email and cell number, and they regularly text me for appointments, but never once sent any email, text, or call about this balance. They said they had mailed letters, but I had moved and had specifically informed the office of my new address, so they knew mailed statements wouldn't reach me. Despite that, they never used any of the contact methods I actually receive. The charge itself was for fluoride, which I never would have agreed to if I had known it wasn't covered by my insurance. It was $98 -- something that could easily be written off considering the circumstances. When I explained everything and asked them to comp it, I was told the staff member "did not have the authority" to adjust the balance. But after I mentioned that I would leave an honest review describing the situation, suddenly she did have the ability to offer 25% off. That made it clear that the earlier "I don't have the authority" line was simply a pressure tactic, not the truth. Overall, the lack of communication, the inaccurate claim that I had received multiple notices, and the sudden shift in what they "could" do once I pushed back all felt really unprofessional. I would recommend being extremely cautious with this office, especially around billing and transparency.
