I decided to take the hubby with me this time for a late meal and suggested the Tipsy Chick as it appears to be one of the most popular items reviewed from their menu. I stayed true to my last review and ordered the grilled cheese portobello mushrooms on wheat with a side of collards. The hubby said the sandwich was exceptional and could not find anything negative to say about it or the seasoned fries and would definitely revisit. He wanted to order the vegan cake but was too full to consume more food. My grilled mushroom sandwich was simply delicious...... cheesy, creamy spread with sweet sautéed onions on toasted bread ( mouth watering good). The collard greens were sweet. If you like sweet greens, this is for you. I personally did not prefer the taste. The collards needed a savory or salty finish to balance the sweetness and a touch of liquid smoke to give body to the broth since it's a vegan dish. I did exactly that once I brought them home then gobbled them up. :-) This restaurant is quickly becoming one of my favorite places to dine. Good vibes, great food and good music. It wasn't deserving of 5 stars but it wasn't bad. Food was pretty decent. We got the tipsy chicken, Turkey hot and brown, cilantro Parmesan fries, cheesecake, and red velvet cake. Both our sandwiches were on the "could've been better side" as we just felt they were missing something. Like an additional flavor not sure. The fries and deserts were the best. Not sure I'd come back though for the price and their hours are just kind of tricky for the working person. We decided to add this restaurant into our UberEats rotation based on the good reviews and its relative close proximity to our home. It was a great choice. The delivery took about 45 minutes which is pretty good for our area. There are not a lot of dine in (non fast food/big franchise) restaurants in my neighborhood. We ordered Cali-nuggets (hand breaded cauliflower tossed in chipotle-agave sauce)/$6; southern barbecue wings/$18.29 (12 piece); smokey bbq chicken hoagie/$12.07; cast skillet blackened salmon sandwich/$15.32 with a side of bourbon collards/$4.50 add-on to combo. Of course the food is never as hot with delivery and it is a little more pricey but it was worth it. Everything was really delicious including the cauliflower. The flavors were tremendous on all the items we had. I can't wait to try more menu items while dining in. read more

I've passed by Trend on many occasions. There normally appears to be a good number of people inside and it looked pretty hip. So, why not... The restaurant had a nice vibe inside. Chill R&B playing overhead. The staff was very friendly and attentive. Not many patrons at the time I went. The prices were comparable to most other establishments in Atlanta. The health score is an A. It appeared fairly clean inside and out. I was however repulsed by the sticky floors in the register and dining area. We ordered our food to go. I ordered the jerk chicken tacos and my friend, the jerk salmon quesadilla. He enjoyed his quesadilla...The tacos were ok at best. The jerk wasn't jerking like I expected. It had no spice whatsoever which would've been a perfect balance with the sweet mango. So, they basically had no flavor, no pop. I had to go in the cabinets and pull out some sauces to give them a little life. I do still believe in this restaurant as everything else was so on point. I will be giving them another try and I recommend that you do the same! read more

Traveling back from Athens and driving through Stone Mountain home I decided to stop at Trendz Urban Cafe. As I walked in R&B playing in the back, people all around I get a very chill laidback feel from this place. I took a couple of minutes to go over the menu and was excited by all the vegan options that they have. Vegan wings with fire & sweet chilli sauce & a side of bourbon collards. I was shocked but happy at the large side of greens they had. I love collards and definitely appreciate that they are vegan. Thanks for cooking them without meat at least someone got the memo . Cali nuggets breaded cauliflower in a chipotle agave sauce. They were really good I just wished they were crispier but very tasty. I wanted to try the vegan carrot cake but they were all out when I got there . They have several vegan options, I will definitely be back. read more

After pulling up to an unassuming restaurant in a little strip mall, the food and service at Trend absolutely blew us away. First, there is space available both for indoor and outdoor (with heaters) dining. You order at the counter and then grab a number, and your food follows maybe 5-10 minutes afterward. I took their advice and ordered one of the "specialties," the Tipsy Chick. My wife got the salmon sandwich. Both of us subbed out fries for side salads so didn't get to try them. We also ordered mimosas (they were only $4!). We sat outside because the weather was nice, and our mimosas came out quickly, and salads shortly thereafter. I was surprised at the quality of the side salad (see photo), as it looked beautiful and was topped with pickled onions. I got their teriyaki-ginger dressing and am glad I did, it was the perfect mix of sweet and savory on the salad. When our food came out, I didn't know what to do with the Tipsy Chick...it was massive! I opted to take off one of the chicken breasts and put it on a side plate, which was perfect. Their house sauce is phenomenal, and the chicken is just perfect - crispy on the outside and tender inside, with a delicious buttery taste in the batter. My wife enjoyed her salmon, but said next time she'll definitely be getting the chicken. Above all, the staff came out several times to check on us, bring us items, and clear the table, and were very friendly. This bar is quickly becoming our go to option right outside of Gwinnett county. Talked in a very unassuming shopping center next to an African-American children's bookstore which is cool is trend urban Café. We are thankful whatever we find a business that has a specific menu catered towards vegans, not gluten-free as a lot of businesses rattle off when you ask them if they have vegan options. But true Plant based menu items that you don't have to think about. Each time we visit we see the kitchen staff busy at work and they have a very efficient set up which is always appreciated. In a Post pandemic world the businesses that truly focus on good food at a great price are going to survive. This business we can already tell will be around for a very long time because they get it. Some of the must try items are the trendy mess which is a burger with the impossible patty so our inner vegan fat kid is pleased each time we eat that. They put a special sauce to go with the vegan cheese And it taste amazing. You must also try the vegan wings which appear to be soy based tenders that are sauced just like your favorite hot wing spot(we suggest the teriyaki,BBQ,peppercorn agave sauces). The extreme measures to safeguard customers during C-19 is A+. Not only are the employees geared up properly, but the implementation of numerous Hand Sanitizing stations, door towels, counter guards, control stanchions, floor markers & constant disinfecting between customers is top-notch & appreciated. The menu is Vegan & Non-Vegan where everyone would be happy with the selections. As with my first visits I tend to go a little overboard which usually yields great satisfaction. I went with the Cauliflower Nuggets tossed in a Sweet & Spicy sauce, side of the Bourbon Collard Greens, Vegan Teriyaki Wings (more like nuggets) that comes with seasoned French Fries, the special of the day - Sweet Potato Hash (more like stir-fry) & Vegan Carrot Cake. Not only were the portions of abundance, everything was pretty good & really easy on the pockets-without tip was $25. From the employees to the atmosphere, it was all inviting within this sanctum of an eatery. As of now, the welcoming & vibrant dining room is closed, which provides the opportunity to dine out on the patio that is engrossed with umbrellas, colorful floral & greenery. The tables are staged more than the normal six feet of distancing with an employee constantly on the move resetting & sanitizing the tables - there's a dedicated Hand Sanitizer machine outside as well. We tried the Urban and Oriental salads and they were great! The cooking area and dining areas were clean. When you walk into the restaurant you order at the counter, get a number and sit down. There are sofas with coffee tables on each end of the shop if you prefer, high top tables and regular tables. They have a good variety for a small shop. You can add meats to your salad so we added grilled chicken. The Oriental salad had ginger flavor with fresh greens and crispy bits that is very good. The grilled chicken was very good. They have a nice fire setup with a few tables separated from each other. The music is ON POINT! Very much Neo-Soul vibes. I caught myself singing just as much as I was eating. The Tipsy Chick Sandwich ($8.39-sandwich only, +$3.79 (combo): So, there's A LOT to eat on the menu. Like most black-owned restaurants, I usually have a hard time figuring out what I want. To no surprise, when I noticed there was a crispy chicken sandwich, I HAD to get it. This sandwich is bourbon bathed & fried with peppercorn agave, provolone, lettuce, tomato, house pickle, and boom boom sauce! LAWD! THIS SANDWICH IS MASSIVE. Not even the sandwich, but the CHICKEN IS MASSIVE! It's honestly like the size of two sandwiches. The bun wouldn't even cover the chicken. This was the BEST fried chicken sandwich I've EVER had in my LIFE! Like EVER! Highly recommend! The fries were seasoned & crispy. Very good! I frequent this place as everything is always good. I am a pescatarian so I tend to lean towards many vegan or impossible options as alternatives to meat. I had their vegan wings in Thai chili which was amazing. My BF who has an aversion to anything "fake" loved them. He had the u burger of which he said was great. The cashier was patient and very friendly. The food was ready quickly, fresh and hot. My only issue is the individual that hands off the food to the customers who also cut my vegan cherry pie had a mask on that was positioned below his face the entire time I was there waiting. In addition, he had one glove on and when an employee walked him he aggressively wrapped his arms around another employees body and grazed her head and then proceeded to cut my cake. We had a great meal at this place. The portabello fries are SO good! I'm obsessed with the dipping sauce served with them. I had the oriental salad which was large, fresh and tasty. The bourbon greens are really unique and good as well. They have sweet potato fries tossed with cinnamon and sugar (just a bit) and this gives the perfect sweetness and makes for a great end to a meal.
