My mother in law wanted to try this place out for dinner since she had been here around 15 years ago and remembers liking it. When we walked into the restaurant the smell of stale smoky air hit us in the face! And the supposed non smoking dining room was not at all inviting! A sign read please let the bartender know you are here. When my sister in law walked into the bar area she had a hard time getting the bartender's attention as she was not immediately acknowledged. We visited on a Monday night. The bar is smoking but the restaurant is non-smoking but it's clear the restaurant once was smoking. Our waitress was personable and knowledgeable while being the only waitress in the entire place. The four of us ordered a wide sampling of the menu items: chicken parmesana (not a typo), small pizza, meatball calzone, and broiled fish with pierogis. The chicken parmesana was tasty and the sauce was amazing. The small pizza was delicious. The meatball calzone had just mozzarella cheese and meatballs in it. My daughter asked for sauce once she discovered there was no sauce in the calzone but was halfway through before the waitress had a chance to grab it. The meatballs were dry and not very tasty. The broiled fish was topped with onions, tomato slices, and seasoned breadcrumbs. The breadcrumbs were VERY seasoned and dumbed on like a garnishment while the fish had no seasoning on it. The tomatoes and onions may have added flavor but there was so much lemon, that was all I could taste. I was so looking forward to eating at Trenney's again after not being there in a very long time. Tried to eat there today, but it didn't work out. The experience was bad from start to finish. We chose to go to the dining room because we didn't want to be around the cigarette smoke while we ate. The dining room smells very strongly of stale cigarette smoke, possibly from the 1970's. We decided to stay anyway and try the food. The sign said "please wait to be seated" but apparently no hostesses or servers were assigned to work in the dining room. The bar employees saw us waiting, but didn't acknowledge us at all and kept going about their business at the bar. We waited a few more minutes then decided to bale. We went to JW Halls where the food, drink and service is always good and you don't have to breathe stale cigarette smoke. Very vey disappointed in this establishment. read more

For a smaller bar/grille, the food and drinks are good, and cheap!! First time I went, I ordered a steak salad, and it was HUGE. If you don't have a big appetite, you'll be taking some home for sure. The second time I went, it was margarita and tacos night. The tacos were good, and margs were delicious. At the time they had a watermelon marg. OMG refreshing! Things to consider, they have a smoking and non smoking section. The bar area is smoking and the dining room, which is a completely different room, is non-smoking. The bartenders have been extremely accommodating and sweet!! Overall, not a bad place!! read more

I don't live around here, and just chose this place randomly on a whim - and am very glad I did! The waitress was wonderful, and the food delicious. I came for lunch on a Saturday, and had the whole dining room to myself. Ordering a salad is always a bit risky - but it was very fresh, and the bacon was crisp and amazing. Also had a side of green beans that was maybe even better. It was chopped (easier to eat) and garnished with garlic butter that made it taste incredible. Highly recommended! read more

We go for crab legs, when offered on Saturdays. Waitstaff is always very friendly and attentive. Food and drinks are good. We even enjoy the bar staff when we head over for an after dinner drink. Great place to take the kids too. The food isn't great, but still pretty good especially for the price and the serving sizes. A lot better than some other restaurants in the area. read more

Very disappointed.... I have been a long time customer and could not believe the service and food has got to the below quality line for any customer. I waited 10 min to get my drink order- only one other customer. Ordered crabs- BAD Mistake !!- the order came out sickening ... the must have been soaking all day- Sent back to kitchen- potatoes were cold. Next batch - small order - small legs But hot.. and not water logged. the next batch came out and they had a bleach smell to them - I could not eat them- sent back to kitchen !! The last batch had the same bleach smell- and the waitress agreed she smelled the bleach smell.- I lost my appetite! The waitress was nice and she had no control over the food- the Chef should be ashamed of himself and the owners. Waisted $45.00 ... and never will return. Trenneys is a great local spot that is under the radar for most folks. Locally owned by hands on owner, friendly staff, have always had great service. Generally eat at the bar as enjoy watching sports on their great TVs. The set up is better than most so-called sports bars with much better food and a good variety on the menu. Wings are great, have had chicken marsala, club sandwiches, burgers, fish and pizza. Chicken marsala was just OK, sandwiches were good. As an aside, their beer is super cold, just the way I like it. Prices reasonable. They recently went non smoking which is a positive at least to me. Would definitely recommend. read more

I rate this place five stars because of the Saturday night all you can eat crab legs! I've gone there about three times for these crab legs and they have been perfect every time. They are cooked in a way that they just pull right out of the shell. They do take a bit to come out because they're cooked fresh. Just make sure you let your server know pretty early on that you are planning on another round. Make sure you go to the non smoking dining room to eat. The bar area gets pretty smoke filled. read more

I tried a number of items at two trips here and the best things I found were the Wings and Provolone Encroute (which is delicious and way too small for 6.99). The ribs were dry, pasta was just okay (although the sauce was DELICIOUS). Perogis were the worst ive ever had possibly. Fries And the salad was even poor. Another complaint was the service. On both trips the waitresses offered drinks but didnt know what beers they had in bottle or on tap. Lack of knowledge in your job is very unimpressive. The waitress the first visit seemed bothered to even be there while the 2nd trip fielded better results with her very good attitude and playfulness towards the child we had with us. I cant recommend this place and would never choose to come here when the items they have that ARE Good are still MUCH BETTER at other places. Try it for yourself but I'd go elsewhere. read more

We went in for dinner and it took about 5 minutes for our drinks. After we ordered our food it took over 40 minutes to make a cheese quesadilla and a grilled cheese. When it came out it was mediocre and the cheese quesadilla had chicken, which I did not order. We were very disappointed in the service and the food. Do not plan on returning. read more

Big fan of the AYCE crab legs. Small restaurant feel, ownership/management is very accessible. Great food, local produce purchased from local neighbor farms. Needs a bit of an update, not really easy to get to from the city. Can't complain much for a decent restaurant that far from the city, but the price for the AYCE crab legs were a bit expensive. Could use those extra dollars to spring for a better ambient music setup, since the oak ridge boys CD seemed to have seen far better days. The home stereo set up was laughable. Literally. The four tables eating in the dining room was actually laughing at how bad the music situation was. read more

Been here many times as it has changed hands over the years. Staff is friendly, and it's a relaxed casual atmosphere. Absolutely love the Cajun Chicken Salad, very reasonably priced and nice portions. Have also tried the Sicilian Cod and a few pasta dishes and have always been pleased. Has a dining room on one side and a separate bar and seating in the other side. I believe they have banquet / catering upstairs but never attended anything up there. read more

I've been driving by this place for a year and finally decided to stop in with some friends. The all you can eat crab legs on Saturday night were quite enjoyable for the wife and friends. I had a penne tomato cream sauce and was surprised to have fresh spinach leaves in the dish everything was enjoyable and service was very prompt and courteous.
