    Evening fall ball tourney

Great local baseball facility that is easy to access, well maintained, and has great sight lines regardless of where you sit. Unfortunately it is located in a lousy neighborhood.

Always a good time! I love to come here with a friend or a whole group.. it's good for crowds of all sizes. Food isn't gourmet, but it's typical ball park cuisine. There are so many options so never too long a line anywhere. Sound system is great and lively music all the time with tons of fun activities throughout a game. There are fireworks from time to time and specialty nights.. I always come for Jewish Heritage night. Great time for a Mercer County night.

My brother and I went to Arm & Hammer Park to see the Trenton Thunder, a NY Yankee affiliate AA Ball, play in a nite game. I must say there really isn't a bad seat in the house. Weather was warm. This park is easy to get to and only five dollars to park. The food is typical ball park fare. The concession stands are abundant and try to quickly move the long lines. There are a lot of promotions and dedications between innings and make sure you get your face on the fan-cam. Bring your kids because it won't break the bank, as opposed to going to a MLB game in NYC.

    Great game!

Although there's nothing that beats Yankee Stadium--ok, if you like, another team please chill-- this was very fun. Nothing like the local fourth grade choir belting out GBA, and canines retrieving bats from home plate. The food and beverage is also more affordable than at Yankee Stadium. They have usual stadium fare--hot dogs, pretzels, peanuts, chicken, etc. The other attendees were friendly and nice-- and even sans adult beverages and even absent a post prandial stupor, I had many a conversation with people sitting next to us. Since its near Philly and NY, sometimes stars stop by. Tonight Hideki Matsui was here.

Another great night for baseball at Arm & Hammer Park! We watched a slow game through five innings, when no one seemed capable of mounting any offense, become a slug fest for the home town Thunder, who scored ten runs in two innings to put the game away. All this under pink sunset clouds and Dollar Dog Night! The adversary? The Richmond Flying Squirrels. Hard to imagine them even wearing pants.

    Chase- the bat dog!

$13 tickets for AA league baseball around the corner from our house? Yes please! Came here for a fun Friday night, for something different. Seats are equipped with cup-holders which is really nice! It's not too crowded usually, and parking is a breeze. A fun date-night with other couples! Decent food selections - but still very baseball-stadium-type foods. Richman's Ice Cream Company has soft-serve, with DIY toppings (kinda a mess). Chickie's & Pete's has a stand with Waterfront Grill. Of course, there's a main food court with traditional baseball park fare (Thunder Road Food court & River Ave food court). Also featuring "Frozen Zones": Mini-Melts & Philadelphia Water Ice. Killarney's On the Delaware had a "Bar" where they're serving up beers, wines, and spritzers. Fitch's' Place serves wood-fired pizza by the slice. Horizon Healthy Plate has "heart-healthy entrees" (but looks like just a salad?). Also Mega Nachos, Nuts For You, and Case's Pork Roll Paradise. A fun cheap friday-night activity! Lots of games and entertainment for kids too!

Eastern League AA Championship. Go Thunder!

Parking for the event was in one section and it was pretty tight but they did have parking assistants directing traffic which was nice. The manner in which the employer tables were arranged around the circular hallway was both smart and cool because job seekers were able to see all employers by simply walking the hallway. The signage for restrooms was confusing as many of them weren't open which was a bit frustrating and it would've been nice if there was a way to purchase or grab bottled water because it was hot inside. The overall experience in / at the arena was pretty middle of the road which is why the rating is 3 stars.

The line to check in at the door is long but moves quickly. They random check people with handbags, especially, big handbags or backpacks at the entry, and that's a bit of a drag in wait line but all others can just walk right inside and scan their tickets. Soon, I'm inside and walked around scoping the area for some quick bite. Like any arenas, food and drinks are ridiculously expensive. I got some crab fries and water. My husband's feelings got hurt when he learned there were no real crabs and it's just seasoned fries with some dipping sauce lol. It was $16 for a 16 ounce cup size. Go figure . The seats were decent with some cushion pad and there's good number of restrooms throughout the facility. Exiting the arena, it's a one way exit to control the traffics and turnpike entrance is right nearby. We will definitely look more concerts here now that we know how convenient it is.

Hobey Baker Arena was ancient when Woodrow Wilson stood between the pipes. First off, the sightlines are outstanding due to what can only be described as an intimate seating capacity. And here's the best part, if you like your sports slightly above freezing you are certainly pucked here - in July this arctic mausoleum must never get above 30 degrees and during the season it's positively Icelandic. Just be glad they have electricity. And for those of you that crave amenities well, there aren't any, so plan on visiting a 21st century eatery after the game. Hobey Baker Arena is the price you pay for old time hockey and if you're a fan, you wouldn't have it any other way. A true gem.

That's an NHL arena though whereas Baker Rink is a cozy 1200 person arena that hosts men's and women's college hockey games. Bring a coat for the winter games because there is no real heating as there are only 6 rows of seating so it doesn't have the advanced cooling systems modern arenas have. The seating is bleacher style, but it is reserved so you need a ticket and your seat is assigned. There is a small snack bar that has two lines. They accept cash and credit card and they serve pretzels, hot dogs, candy, soda and water. It isn't what you'd see at a professional game but it does the trick. The arena is clean and there is plenty of security so there aren't fan fights. Overall, I love going to games here because of the historic feel (being a historian, I'm kind of a suckered for that) and because of how close all of the fans are. Of you're into hockey and you're in the Princeton area, do yourself a favor and watch a game at Baker Rink.

Baseball is stubborn though. It does not die. It mutates. Now the Thunder play in the MLB Draft League. This is not the big leagues. It is not even close. It is a proving ground for college kids and hopefuls trying to get noticed by scouts. The level of play is lower. Sometimes much lower. But baseball is still baseball, even when it is imperfect. Maybe especially then. The ballpark itself is still beautiful. You could sit anywhere and feel like royalty. The worst seat here would cost you a hundred dollars in a Major League park. In Trenton it costs less than a family trip to Burger King. Parking is five dollars. Cash only. I paid my five dollars and felt like I had tricked the universe. The concessions are better than they have to be. Case's Pork Roll. Colbie's Southern Kissed Chicken. Raccoon Saloon. Killarney's. Rita's Italian Ice. The names sound like a carnival, and in a way they are. The food is affordable, too, which feels like a misprint in America these days. Promotions are plentiful. Fireworks. Thirsty Thursdays with two-dollar drafts and three-dollar aluminum bottles. This is a land where inflation forgot to look. The bat dogs are still here. Dogs that run out and fetch bats. It feels like cheating at joy, like the universe is handing you a gift and refusing to charge extra for it. The truth is the product on the field is not what it used to be. You will not see future Yankees here anymore. But you will still see baseball, and you will see it for cheap, with fireworks and pork roll and dogs who think bat retrieval is their divine mission. Four stars. Because this is still a great night out for families who even casually enjoy the game. Baseball lives in Trenton, just in a different costume.
