Slocum's is an institution. Great bartenders, great group of regulars, and great opportunities for people watching on college nights. Prices are cheap and food is pretty good . If you're one of those beers nerds who complains when they can't get their favorite dogfish head, then you probably won't like this place. But if you can appreciate a cool high life and some decent conversation with a regular, you'll become one too. There's no place like it, and it's an experience that defies description. read more

This place is a complete joke. The customer service is beyond terrible -- rude, dismissive, and clearly uninterested in doing their jobs. Somehow, every single time we come here, we're told we can't bowl. Lanes "aren't working," waits are endless, or no one bothers to explain what's going on at all. Imagine running a bowling alley where customers never actually get to bowl. Staff act irritated when you ask basic questions, offer zero solutions, and make you feel like you're the problem. Came here with my sister and a few friends to get some drinks, apps and bowl. The place was clean and the staff were friendly. The first time we came, we used a Groupon and had a awesome deal for a group of four to bowl and it included some beers. The mixed drinks were fairly priced as well and we ended up getting a bunch of Jack Daniel's and Coke for only 3 bucks a piece! Which is a steal! I would definitely visit again. read more

Had a really nice time. Played one game and prices were decent. Payed $10 for one game. Was only one other land occupied during visit so wasn't crowded at all. Upon arrival, didn't realize that they had a bar nor food. It was hidden through a different door. My party of four stopped her to bowl a couple games on Saturday afternoon. It was great because we had the place to ourselves. It's a little dated inside but still good. There are 12 lanes, a juke box and a bar attached if you want bar food or drinks. We didn't order any food but did order a few jack and cokes for $3. The pricing was reasonable. $4 per game per person and $3.50 shoe rental per person. You can bowl for less if you purchase a Groupon deal but this isn't always available. Instead of coming to bowl I came for some food and libations. After hearing that this place had some pretty good grub for being a bowling ally! I ordered their cheesesteak and some wings with a side of buffalo and a side of jerk sauce to change things up a bit. Nice little 12 lane neighborhood bowling alley. Lanes seem to be in good shape, and the flat screen displays lead me to believe that the place is fairly up to date, technology- wise. Major bonus that they have a pretty decent little restaurant/bar attached. Nice place! read more

I love going to Slocum's for some good bar food and a couple of beers. It's a wonderful little place to come for some quick dinner and if you feel like bowling it's a one stop shop! However, whenever I see that Erin is bartending I turn right back around and go somewhere else. Every encounter with her has been horrible. She has a rude attitude towards people. Not so great with people skills. Every other bartender is great! So pleasant, kind and eager to help customers. Over all a five star rating unless Erin is there!! read more

Local bowling alley. We only heard about this place because of a Living Social. Two games, shoe rental for two, appetizer and two beers for only $15.... we had to give it a try. This place is definitely a DIVE, so do not expect anything more than exactly that- but for what it's worth- we found it quiet comfortable endearing. Everyone seemed to know everyone else. At first we felt like outsiders, but as our food / beers came (delivered from the bar to our seats in the alley)- someone made a joke about my boyfriend's shirt (all in good fun) and then we felt like we were 'one of them'. We had a great time, and even added two more games to our night and we agreed we would come back another time. And what do you know, they ran that Living Social promotion again a few weeks later. I went bowling last night with some friends and it was a blast from the past. Clean alleys, the food was good and the music was just right. Have not had a bowling night out in a long time but it worked itself out. The prices were resonable and the shoes did not smell! lol If you are thinking about going bowling then check this place out. Im not the type to write negative reviews, but I'm making an exception. Came here with a group last night and our waitress was incredibly rude. She slammed our drinks down on the table and walked away without saying anything and blatantly ignored us when we tried to make quick friendly small talk. I've never had an issue with this place before and I know she was probably stressed as it was a Saturday night and she was the only one working, but she made us feel like we were an annoyance for being there and giving them business. read more

This is a great place to bowl and just relax and have a good time before 9 PM. Most of the college students start to roll in after this time, so unless you enjoy their company it is probably best to show up before then. The food is typical bar food, prices are reasonable and their salads are actually pretty good, with a lot meat, if you so wish. Drinks are made well and on the stronger side. Tuesday nights they have good specials on 22 oz. beers around $2. Come here often with co-workers for lunch, dinner, and/or bowling. Planned and went on a trip here for students to socialize and have fun. Chip and the staff were highly accomodating from start to finish. They were patient and flexible when requests were made, served food promptly, and offered to help when needed. Haven't been bowling in years (ok, decades) and popped in on a Sunday on a whim. It's a classic 12-lane neighborhood bowling alley. Not fancy, not new, but maintained & clean with good lanes (as far as I can tell). More importantly to us, both the staff and customers were very friendly and welcoming of people who vaguely remembered how to bowl. Rental shoes & house balls were decent, nothing to complain about. As long as you're not expecting/demanding a hip, fancy establishment it is a good neighborhood bowling alley with good people where one can easily have a good time.
