It is the place young athletes go for the extra learning and practice needed to improve their skills in their sport of choice. My 13 year old has taken several seasons of baseball education and muscle memory work here. Not the most naturally gifted athlete, the additional exposure and repetitiveness are ideal for preparing him for the upcoming tryouts and season. The coaches and trainers are experienced and professional, yet know they are working with young people. They are dedicated to the task. Using the pitching machines to work on batting stroke is also invaluable, and the cost is very reasonable. The facility is only one year old and state of the art when it comes to adequate space and equipment for most outdoor sports. While we were there this weekend, in addition to Babe Ruth assessments, the other side of the huge building was being used for lacrosse practice. Big Leagues Academy is fortunate to have a good relationship with the NAC. It is also very interesting to watch the parents interact with their kids, some quietly encouraging, others more vocally so, but all with the earnest desire to see their sons and daughters be more successful in sports. Everyone seems to know each other from attending the actual games their kids are preparing to play. Occasionally, a major league player will walk in to offer a clinic. The kids really love those. So do the dads.

The league keeps fun stats and sends them out regularly. 3. Run effectively - the umpires are consistent and the league works hard to keep the field in good playing shape. 4. Run equitably - the league keeps track of players and prevents teams from substituting in ringers in the playoffs. Most of the teams are within reasonable playing level of each other which makes for fun games. Definitely join PALs. You won't regret it.

It was pretty well organized besides a few mix-ups in the schedule. The girl from PSSC that was there every week played decent music while we were playing which was nice. I'm just in a rec league because volleyball isn't really my sport, but I had a great time getting to know the people on my team, and getting better at volleyball. There were a few teams that seemed like they should be on the intermediate level, but everyone was friendly and I guess if they don't want to play in a more competitive league, who am I to judge?

It is essentially pavement designed to look like roads with local shops sponsoring storefronts. There are no toys to make this a real town, but you can bring your scooter to ride the streets. There are also at least 2 playgrounds. There is a small one that looks like a castle and features a rock climbing wall near a parking lot. This is near tennis courts and a baseball field. If you walk on a path through a couple of parking lots, you will arrive at a space-themed playground. There are swings too. On my visit, they were holding a space camp in the pavilion and that was fun to watch. Definitely come here if you're in the area with kids!
