I'm honestly surprised this restaurant has as many positive reviews as it does because my experience was very disappointing. After visiting, I can say the negative reviews I read beforehand were not far from the truth. The food lacked flavor and didn't taste fresh or grilled, even though that's what I ordered. The tortillas tasted like they came straight out of a bag without being warmed or prepared in any special way, and the overall meal was just very plain. The service didn't make things any better. The server wasn't outright rude, but he didn't seem welcoming or interested in providing a good experience. I personally got the impression that he didn't want to be there and came across as dismissive, which made the visit feel uncomfortable. I have been warned by friends not to eat here, but I decided to give it a fair chance anyway. Unfortunately, I should have listened. I wouldn't return or recommend this place. It really isn't as good as it looks in the photos, so don't let the pictures on their website fool you into expecting something it doesn't deliver. read more

Ups and downs. Restroom is sketch. Chips and salsa was meh .... Not tasty or enjoyable. Dark and Dated ... not super clean. Menu is huge .... But was hard to read. Upside was my dinner was super tasty. Pollo adobo. Nothing adobo about it. Chicken smothered in their "house"cheese sauce mushrooms, spinach, peppers and onions. Great dish. Get the salted fish. You need to order it the day before. It is out of this world. The funny thing is I don't even like fish.

Today at Tres Amigos it was going perfectly fine till I had to wait about 20 minutes just to order. It doesn't stop there, on the first bowl of chips there was such a small amount then on the second round of chips it was half soggy and half stale... Then when the food got out out half of it was missing they forgot 50% of it. This was the first bad experience I had with them so it could of been having a off day or they didn't really care. Also one last thing there was horrible customer service but I believed she was new. read more

I recently visited this restaurant for the first time and was pleasantly surprised by the menu-- some typical items you'd expect from a Mexican place, but some unique dishes as well. Pros: reasonably priced. A 12 oz lime margarita was $5.50 and there's a happy hour throughout the week that offers even cheaper prices. The portions are also good-I ordered the chorizo pollo, which was a grilled chicken topped with chorizo cheese dip. It was served with rice, beans and tortillas for $11. The salsa is fresher than most Mexican restaurants I have been too. Cons: the service was just okay. Never asked if we wanted refills of salsa or chips (which consisted of a lot of smaller, broken pieces.) I was asked if I wanted a refill of my margarita, but not offered water or desserts at the end of the meal. Checks were dropped off before we were done eating, which is fine, but there wasn't a lot of follow- up after that and multiple servers seemed to cover each table. The location of the bathrooms are also a bit sketchy-- they're off a storage room and I felt like I was in an area I shouldn't have been allowed in to access them. read more

Me and my friends come here about 4-5 times a week and it gets better every time. The chicken soft tacos are the best i've ever experienced. Not the mention the water that is so crisp and clean and the free that melts on your tongue with the fresh salsa. It is also a very family friendly environment and for people with limited time because the service is out of this world. Great food here! I had chicken enchiladas with chipotle sauce and they were great! The frozen margarita wasn't the best, but based on food alone, it was really worth it. The prices are very reasonable also. The menu selections are huge. If you can't find something you like, you aren't looking! The waiter wasn't very attentive....someone else brought our food and he never came back to see if everything was okay, or if we would like drink refills or dessert....but I am giving the rating based on the food. The friendly staff seat us quickly and in no time we are at our table with menus and they are asking for our drink orders while bringing us the complimentary chips and dip. I never write reviews but, I tried this place because it had a great review and it was a complete disappointment! The food was horrible!! I ordered a taco salad and it consisted of just shredded lettuce, mozzarella cheese, ground meat, sour cream, and a very stale taco shell. they did not even offer salsa or guacamole. I also took a burrito home and the chicken was dry and it looked like it was sitting in liquid. Needless to say, Inedible!! I hope that they try a bit harder for the next person that tries this place. Never again for me! read more

Went here with my coworker and her husband after watching his baseball game today. We had eaten Mexican food the night before, but as someone who is Mexican and from California, I never get enough of it! I haven't been in love with most of the Mexican food I've had since being in PA and I wasn't expecting too much from Tres Amigos, but I still was left satisfied enough. The chips and salsa are pretty average, but they do their job and are on the house at the very least. My go to meal at Mexican restaurants is carne asada tacos, but since I'd had them the night before, I decided to switch it up. I ordered the chori pollo! I loved the combination of chorizo and pollo with their queso sauce and their amazing beans that came on the side along with some rice. The beans were probably the best I've had so far in PA! My coworker's husband is gluten free and my meal and his came with flour tortillas on the side, so I ended up using 6! The meal filled me up (probably because of the 6 tortillas) and it was tasty. Another dinner out in Western PA and another place with really good food that left me wanting for service. At the suggestions of very good local friends we ate here as two families. Food-wise I have no complaints - from the enchiladas to the burritos, to even the quesadillas ordered everything was plentiful and tasty. But for the second time consecutive, the wait service was lacking. I prefer a glass with my beer that I waited for quite some time, my wife and her old high school friend had to wait on refills to their drinks, and even the adult kids waited for seconds on water of all things. Not sure was is going on here with service in this part of the country, but I'm beginning to see a trend I hope changes. read more
