Tres Hermanos Núñez is an Ashland staple! I've not had a singular bad food item from here. We enjoy getting our food to go, so I cannot speak to the ambience of the restaurant. With that said, when picking the food up, the interior looks clean and welcoming. My family loves the fajitas in all forms; steak, chicken, shrimp. The Texas salad is an all time favorite. The shrimp is so flavorful and fresh. The Beef bowl is a new found favorite for my family. The beef and beans were well seasoned and all the toppings were fresh. My personal favorite is the El Pastor. A delicious, savory and sweet combination of steak, chorizo, and pineapple. So so good. Then to top it off you've got the chips and salsa. I highly recommend getting the flour tortilla chips in addition to the corn. Overall, we love this place and eat it frequently! read more

I gave this location a 5 for the staffing because they seem disorganized and sometimes frustrated. I highly recommend this location work on teaching the wait staff to be more friendly and more attentive to the customers and when the staff is in a lull they tend to crowd the entrance by the host stand. The food gets an additional point added due to the fact that the food is some of the best around here and truly deserves recognition. read more

We were traveling home from Virginia and tired of all the dining fare we'd had, so we thought Mexican might be a nice change of pace. This place had decent reviews on TripAdvisor and their menu looked interesting. We were seated promptly. The waitress apparently had other interests or something better to do. She stood by our table, spoke to us occasionally, but kept turning to watch incoming customers, and to look at the table behind her. Worst margarita I've ever had. Hands down. I ordered a peach margarita on the rocks. I got a cute, cubed-shaped tiered glass decroated with lemon, orange and strawberry. Nice. The drink itself was like strawberry Kool Aid with some other unknown flavor stirred in. The presence of tequila or any alcohol was questionable. My friend ordered a regular margarita -- it was lime green (think lime Jello). Again, nicely presented but absolutely awful. The salsa was quite good. My husband ordered the three tamales. They arrived covered in a red sauce. He took a bite and said 'Oh well." Apparently, they were a bit rubbery and lacked any real flavor. Obviously not freshly made. I had a grilled chicken with queso and rice and beans. The grilled chicken was fine. It was tossed in approximately three teaspoons of queso. Our friend ordered a chicken taco salad and said the chicken had little flavor and sort of blended into the tortilla shell. My husband did enjoy his beer. Although we were disappointed with the food, it was made more uncomfortable by the lack of AC. (it was 95 degrees outside)....we felt definite blasts of hot air coming from the vents above us. It was like someone accidently turned on the heat instead of the AC. We mentioned this to our waitress when she had time to drop by. She said, "It's hot outside." Well ok. When leaving, we walked through anothere section of the restaurant and it was much cooler. Not impressed. Food was merely ok. Stopped in for a late dinner while we were in town. We've had their food at a different location and thought it was good but the dinner tonight was just average to below average for Mexican food standards. I had the fajita chimichanga with a side of guac and their house hot sauce. The guac had an odd creaminess to it almost like the mixed in sour cream which made it seem not as fresh as just traditional smashed avocado as the base. The food here is the best in the tri state. It was all fresh, hot and tasty! They menu is plentiful of great entrees to try. The piña colada was also delicious. My favorite part was the sign at the front with paid tickets if you were hungry and unable to pay. read more

With over 45 minutes you didn't accept my DoorDash order and dismissed my calls when I asked about it, terrible business and mediocre food. First time visiting and experience was horrible. Just got into town for a wedding my children wanted Mexican found this place close to the Hotel. We were a party of six with an infant. All I can say could not tell you who our waitress/waiter was. Female waitress seated us and took drink orders never came back. Waiter came took our food order came back once. The food was mediocre my children love Mexican food but did not like it said it was bland and some was hot other spots cold. I even had to find someone to tell them I needed the bill. I go to the Greenup Kentucky location mostly but all I have been to are great. The food is consistently great, the service is great and the portions are huge. I've been a HUGE fan & patron of Tres Hermanos from the beginning when they only had one restaurant. The Ashland Tres Hermanos is the 8th ... & it's my favorite location, bar none! They've somewhat deviated from their traditional motif. Definitely more modern ... beautiful murals, HUGE big-screen tv, bar, really nice outdoor covered patio with fireplace. You're going to love it! My favorite thing: You can order off their full menu OR enjoy the food bar, which has plenty of options to choose from. Everytime I go here I get the best service followed by the best food! Always comes out exactly how I order it with no issues, and it tastes amazing every time. I recently got in a wreck and my waiter was kind enough to give me unlimited free chips and salsa while I was there! Seeing as it's changed to now only one free salsa and chips per table and if you want refills it's $2. This establishment will always be one of my favorites. read more

In the past when I've been to this restaurant it's been great but not this time. My food, which was supposed to be hot was served cold and when I told the waiter and asked to have it heated the waiter said no, it's ok, it's supposed to be that way. I said it had never been served to me cold before but he refused to heat it. Them he came back to the table a few minutes later and actually had the gall to ask if everything was ok. I just looked at him incredulously. I ended up taking my food home in a doggie bag so I could heat it up and eat it hot. Not sure if I'll ever go back to that place after that experience. read more

Although there has never been a easier time to ensure food quality and portion size. That last 2 times I've ordered carry out, yes it was ready timely but quality was poor. Nope, not good. Not good at all. We are in town visiting and I get that it might be hard to find decent Mexican food in this area but this place was a total miss. My husband is from Southern California and knows his burritos. He wanted a proper burrito (rice,beans and cheese wrapped up in the burrito - the way burritos should be but impossible to get). We explained what we wanted three times. When we picked up the order, the rice and beans were served on the side. Fail. I had the fajita salad. The steak was way too salty, like unbelievably salty.
