I don't have a bad word to say about this place. I'm not kidding! This is the best fast food business I have ever encountered. First and foremost, the food is not only excellently prepared but there are many options. Raising Canes offers chicken tenders with only one dipping sauce, and only fries as a side. Slim Chickens offers about 8 dipping sauce flavors (all great) as well as wings in a choice from about 10 sauces, and also great sandwiches, salads and even chicken & waffles! For sides, they offer fries but also fried pickles, okra, and mac & cheese, among other things. For desserts, they have brownies, shakes and jar desserts filled with cheesecake, pudding, cookies, and other items. It is all prepared wonderfully and fresh and not overcooked like Canes. The restaurant is in a cool building made to look like a Southern juke joint. It's bright and airy and has both low and high top tables. It is kept impeccably clean. The service is incredibly friendly and sociable. Staff comes around to collect your trays or garbage or just to wish you a nice day. They greet you walking in and thank you when walking out. In town for work, and saw a catchy name. I looked them up and they had good reviews so I went to try them out. The food. I ordered a "Slims meal". I must say the tenders were hot and fresh and delicious. The in house sauce I chose (Honey Mustard) was pretty good. A little sweeter than I prefer but still very good. The fries were good, and the raspberry tea was awesome!!! The service was friendly and fast. There wasn't much to the ambience. Just people enjoying their meals with friends and family. Oh and some TVs playing. I enjoyed the food and experience, so I went back. This time I tried the Memphis-style BBQ chicken sandwich. Whoa!! This is a banger!! The chicken was sweet and spicy and the slaw just set it off. Undermine for the road. Overall a solid 4.5 stars. Not a 5 because the honey mustard sauce wasn't a 5 (for me). They were really tiny and overcooked. The texas toast was drowned in butter. The ranch was runny but had a good flavor. I also got the oreo shake. It was good! The oreos were chunky and fresh. We are traveling through the area and this place is a find. Chicken tenders are excellent! I like the coke slaw and fired pickles with lemonade. It's like Canes, but better. More sauces, better chicken (you can get them fried or grilled). Love their sweet tea varieties, desserts are awesome and they even have chicken and waffles for that salty/savory taste. The interior of the restaurant is spacious and inviting. Super friendly and helpful staff. Just wish there are more locations in Ohio, but I'll be back the next time I'm in Ashland though! read more

The chicken is equivalent to Cane's and Zaxby's but much smaller tenders. The fries are excellent and have seasoning on them. Everything was hot and fresh. The bread however, tastes bland and burnt. It could be left off the plate in my opinion. If you're expecting Cane's you will be disappointed. The house sauce was cold and had an odd taste too it.
