It's sad to see how far they've fallen. The service has taken a nosedive and the wait staff just doesn't care anymore. The original workers from 20 years ago are long gone and the new ladies are just there to collect a check and can't be bothered to provide a friendly hospitable environment outside of the usual old townies that they recognize. Just your basic diner. Reminds me a lot of a 1970's friendly's. There is nothing really special about this place. They serve limited breakfast menu. No oatmeal on weekends. That in itself shows there must not be the demand on weekends. They just serve breakfast on Sunday. No lunch. The service was marginal. I had to ask for water. She did ask me if I needed a menu. I would assume everyone needed one of those. I had to call the waitress over to pay my bill only to discover that they only take cash. Rather than taking care of the customer, the waitresses hang out waiting for the orders to appear. My omelet was hot when it made it to my table. It took 20 minutes but it was busy so I understand. I had a mushroom and cheese omelet, coffee, hash browns, and toast. It looked like at least three eggs. The serving size was large with coffee refilled twice. I was pleasantly surprised when I saw the bill because the price was reasonable. The size of the serving offset the mediocre service but I still had to knock it down one star. read more

It was very lively and there was a short wait (10-15 min) because we wanted a booth seat. The atmosphere is very reminiscent of an old school diner which I think is soo charming. LOVED the omelettes, they were a lot of food for a reasonable price (both my bf and I could only finish half of ours, so we got a takeout box to go). Super standard, yummy diner food. I loved my veggie with cheese omelette but the sausage with cheese one was delicious as well. This might be my new favorite small local diner. It's a quintessential small diner with all your favorite traditional diner food. Like many other diners, there are no substitutions. Service was extremely friendly and super fast. It's very kid friendly. Prices are very reasonable, and there is abundant metered parking in the lot surrounding it. I'm a little unsure if it would be wheelchair friendly because of how the walkways are arranged as they are narrow. Be aware it's cash only, but there is an atm there you can use for $2. read more

The food was 10 stars! We were greeted by the executive chef! Lobster stuffed mushrooms were hard to share. My husband and I were on balcony 77. We had champagne and the filet mignon. All of a sudden Ray Bourque appeared! My husband and I were star struck! He couldn't have been more gracious. After that we couldn't finish our dinner! The food and service are good, I've never had an issue with either of them. Unassuming from the outside - and from the inside as well, truth be told - except for its waitress warrens (yes, they're all waitresses), allowing the them to move between booths and counters without actually being in the customer's aisles. While not a diner per se, there is a sense that it's a place stuck in its own time. Between 7am and 11am you can find the Greatest Generation regulars at the counter nearest the ATM and all manner of humanity though the rest of the place. Good food, generous portions and reasonable prices. And you can get Scali bread there; a Boston-centric specialty. The only downside (if you're in a rush) is that things move very slowly there. DO NOT EXPECT SPEEDY SERVICE. And on the weekends, there's a likely chance you'll have to wait for a table to open up; it's a popular no-frills local spot for sure. read more

The tragedy of Tresca's coffee is that it's very very not bad. It is aggressively not bad coffee. It's not the gourmet stuff, infused with barista tears and carrying notes of chocolate and organic farts. It's just...coffee. People are so used dunkin' (that I drink daily) that they assume regular coffee lacking burnt, off, or moldy flavors is watery coffee. It's not GREAT, but it's not garbage, and it's ENDLESS you assholes. Overall that's what you get here. Nothing fancy, just a cute and friendly diner for locals, that occasionally gets swamped, but will fill you up with very not bad coffee and breakfast. I'm always happy eating here. My only gripe is that I CAN believe it's not butter, the pancakes are great but the waffles are too pancakey, and I wish the "syrup" came from an actual tree but that stuff is liquid gold so I really can't complain considering how inexpensive it is to eat here. That being said, I'm giving this place five stars because you can tell all the really bad reviews are from jerks you wouldn't want sitting next to you anyway. read more

Tresca's is a casual breakfast place. I did see some lunch things on the menu but it seems like most people order breakfast food there. I gave it a couple of tries and learned what to order and what not to order. On my most recent visit there I got 2 eggs over-easy with home fries. The eggs were cooked perfectly and they gave me an extra egg at no extra charge (which is what I think they do more often than not). I really like their home fries though I wish they'd brown 'em a little more (I've learned to ask for them to be extra browned). No biggie, they're still really good. I also got bacon which was perfectly cooked and rye toast which was great. All of it was delicious and hearty. The first time I went, though, I ordered my eggs sunny-side-up. The whites were way, way too runny. Looks like that's just how they do sunny-side-up from observing the way other people's sunny-side-up eggs came out, too. Better off getting 'em over easy. The corned beef hash seemed to be straight out of a can and wasn't browned at all. The sausage was just plain not good. I could have sent stuff back but I didn't. I just won't order those things in the future and I suggest that you might not want to, either. Just wanted to give Tresca's another try and was very happy the second time.The service was excellent, very pleasant and efficient both times. I think it's the kind of place that you take for what it is and order what they do well. The ham looked good and the omelets looked worth trying. Those breakfast sandwiches look to-die-for. Bottomless coffee was refilled often. All in all it's a humble place. It isn't modern. I felt like I was in an 80's movie that takes place in a small town in the Midwest. It's ridiculously inexpensive. I like it for what it is. Other notes: You seat yourself when it isn't busy. When it's busy a server will probably point you to a table or ask you to wait "near the windows". It's cash only and you bring your check up to the register to pay when you're done. This is one of my favorite breakfast places to visit! Food - Cheap, delicious, and portion is huge! I usually stick with two eggs over - easy with ham and Italian toast. It comes with homemade potatoes and they usually add one more egg on top of whatever you order. My wife prefers their corned beef hash! Atmosphere - Small, friendly, and homey. The space is cramped, so when the older townies are there for their breakfast you're going to hear about their latest yarn. I went to this diner this AM. I've been there before a few times. It's a place where you get what you pay for. The prices are cheap. The décor is 80's. The place is busy on weekends. Today all the seats were taken. I sat at the counter. There was one waitress for the whole place. There was an older woman walking around doing, well I don't know what her role was, but I saw her deliver food to one table in a 25 minutes span. There were two men cleaning tables, two cooks and someone at the register. Essentially, a lot of staff and extreme inefficiency. I got my coffee and put my order in 5 minutes after I sat down. I waited 25 minutes and the waitress filled my coffee cup for the third time. Still no food and she didn't know when it would come. I had to leave due to time restraints. I love diners. I've been to many diners. Diners are not fancy, food is not expected to be gourmet but diners are supposed to get your breakfast food within 10-15 minutes. Not take more than 25 minutes. If you want raw eggs, go here! I have been to this place 3 times, and the 3rd will be my last. Every time I have been there, I order my eggs over medium and they came completely raw. I kept going back because I figured I would give them another try because they are so close to my house. When I placed my order, I told the waitress that in the past my eggs have been raw, and to please make sure they were cooked throughout. She brings them, and when I attempt to take my first bite, raw, clear egg poors out all over my pancakes. I tell the waitress and she brings it back to the kitchen. They "remake" my breakfast. They bring back the same eggy pancakes with a new order of just as raw eggs. When I tell the waitress again, she grabs the plate and throws it aggressively in the dish bin.
