Wilson's Diner offers plenty of very tasty breakfast and lunch options in a very casual ambiance. However, the real reason to check it out is the opportunity to eat a meal in a historic railcar diner that's been around since 1946. The perfectly preserved railcar diner (even down to the original refrigerator and clock on the wall) is only one of a few dozen still operating as a diner out of the hundreds that built by the Worcester Lunch Car Co. in the 1940s and 1950s. Maria Kitidis Mackay and her father George bought the diner in January 2020 and one or both of them are usually working the griddle daily.. as they were when I recently visited. I recently stopped in for breakfast two days in a row while visiting friends in Concord and the food was excellent both times. On my first visit, I had the two-egg platter ($8) with a unique Greek loukaniko sausage (+$7). The next day, I had the same platter with traditional pork sausage links (+$3). Both platters came with home fries and toast, and everything was incredibly fresh, hot, and really tasty. My dining companion also thoroughly enjoyed her meals and the classic diner ambiance. She tried the Florentine benedict ($14), which came topped with perfectly sautéed spinach and tomato, and on the next visit went with the spinach and feta omelet ($13). Our servers stopped by a few times to ensure everything was good. The only minor disappointment we experienced was that our servers didn't offer to refill our coffee, but otherwise, it was a fantastic visit. Maybe I should have asked? It is a terrific experience all around. Highly recommend checking this place out if you want great food, unique history, and a classic diner atmosphere! Even taking away a 1/2 star for our coffee snafu, it's still a solid 4.5 stars for the overall experience -- rounded up to 5 stars. PRO TIP: Bring cash. I was in town visiting family, and stumbled onto this really cute old fashioned railroad style diner! They have a free parking lot but there is also street parking available. Cash only! Items are on the pricier side. They mainly serve breakfast and lunch items. We opted for breakfast: -- House Special Omelet $18: was meh. The omelet was ok, and came with toast of your choice, and a generous portion of home fries. I'd order something else next time. -- Corned Beef Hash Benedict $18: this was great! Very satisfying and recommended! This also came with a very generous side of home fries. -- Side of bacon $4/3 strips: we asked for extra crispy bacon and that's exactly what we got. Really classic train car diner with quick service and hearty breakfast options. I tried the texas french toast which I wish was a bit heavier on the egg wash and featured thicker toast but was otherwise good. Coffee was a nice and a large portion. The cash register is from the 1940's..... so what! It works. If you are looking for a diner, look no further, you have found it. This place bustles with activity and the reasons for that are deliciousness! A word of caution and insight for chocolate lovers..... you can order EXTRA chocolate chips on your chocolate chip and banana pancakes (so sinfully good). Now if you like Nutella, order the Nutella French Toast. Oh my they are way above expectation. The place is a gem. Do not miss it. The atmosphere is rowdy and fun. read more

If you want a classic diner experience, this as best as you can get. Located on Main Street in Waltham, a small trailer with lots of bar seating and a few booths. 50s themed which is cool. In all honesty, it's not the cleanest, but that's as expected. The food is decent, I liked the ham and cheese omelette. Coffee was so-so. read more

It's the worst service I've ever received and saying it from my experience as a waitress... we didn't know they closed at 2 in the afternoon we arrived at 1:20 pm, they didn't even let us see the menu when we sat down (it was our first time)... When the waitress approached the table 2 seconds after we sat down, she said that we could eat but that they closed at 2.... Yes another diner from the king. I was informed that the booths fill up with multiple people so I sat at the counter. The owner greeted me at the door. The cook came over and reviewed the menu with me. How is that for service? I ending up getting a couple poached eggs and fruit cup. The fruit cup was delicious. It had fresh blueberries, strawberries and banana. I am trying to stay away from the carbs. No toast or hash browns for me. I was sitting at the counter when there was an ordered decaf coffee. The waitress made a cup of decaf using instant coffee. I could not believe it. So much for a fresh brewed cup of coffee. I had to knock down the rating down from 5 stars to four because of this. Unfortunately this restaurant has switched owners and it has gone down hill. We used to eat here all the time and never once had a bad experience. Since switching ownership, we have eaten here twice and both times left disappointed. The first time we ordered Irish eggs Benedict and the hash was not cooked correctly and had raw onions in it. WHO PUTS RAWS ONIONS IN HASH?!? The second time we had eggs, sausage and home fries and my buddy ordered the same. 5 hours later... food poisoning. Pretty sure it was the undercooked sausage. Wilson's, in a traditional Worcester dining car, has a great diner vibe, friendly and efficient service, and delicious home cooking. The omelet was nicely cooked, but could have used a bit more cheese; the home fries were only lightly seasoned, so the potato taste came through. Pancakes were fluffy, but I didn't see an upcharge option for real maple syrup. The freshly-baked corn muffin was huge and delicious, the fruit was fresh, and the coffee was classic diner fare. Our server went above and beyond by giving our granddaughter extra attention and using a covered cup for her lemonade in a covered to-go cup. The free parking adds extra convenience. read more

where to start? Service is slow and multiple requests for silverware, coffee refill, and napkins went unanswered. Servers will reach over you without saying excuse me and stuff a sweaty armpit in your face as they remove salt and pepper shakers and empty plates. One of them took my plate when I wasn't finished with my meal, just walked off with it and my only fork. I had to help myself at the counter to get some salt, pepper, ketchup, syrup, and forks. Food was marginal and portions small. it's also pricey compared to other much better options in Waltham. Wilson's Diner is an amazing establishment! There isn't dedicated parking so you'll have to find street parking so it may be a challenge to find something good. The staff are extremely busy, but they do not forget about you! The team works together so well I couldn't tell you who was our actual server. Truly a phenomenal staff and you can tell they really care about working with excellence. The food felt homemade and they had some unique choices on their menu which is large menu! I ordered the Eggs Benedict & Texas Crunch French Toast, both were delicious & wonderful. The restaurant feels like an old diner, and is clean and well kept. They are extremely friendly and patient when you order and when I say Old Fashion, I mean there is more space at the counter than the tables. If you're a large person it will be one person side at the table or maybe the counter will suit you best....! The coffee is always hot and made to order when you're served. I really enjoyed breakfast at Wilson's! I came on a Saturday morning with a friend, luckily there was an open table but the place was busy. It's small, cozy, and has a very homey atmosphere. The servers are very sweet. I ordered the Greek omelette which was delicious, and came with some of the best breakfast potatoes I've ever had! The food came out very quickly as well. Old school classic diner in downtown Waltham is more of an experience than anything else. The wait for service was a bit much, and then there was the wait for the food which was another twenty minutes. On weekends there are no french fries with anything only home fries so don't even ask for them. Then there is the food itself which for our entire party was a little bland and lacked anything worth writing about. Came here for breakfast with a friend from Botswana who lives in the UK- he wanted to experience an "real American Diner" and this was perfect! I am also from out of town and come to the area for work a few times a year. I have to say I will be back for sure! Breakfast was amazing and just what we wanted. Hearty "normal" breakfast. He had the Wilson special. I tried his pancakes and they were fluffy and big. I had the meat lover omelette and it hit the spot- lots of sausage and bacon. Nostalgic train car diner with classic grilled breakfast options. I was encouraged to get the pancakes, but seeing only High Fructose Corn Syrup on the table rather than real maple syrup, I declined and steered toward the omelettes. Coffee: In those big lipped ceramic mugs and not over or under roasted, but not fancy either, just solid. Omelettes: Grilled with filling mixed into the egg batter, rather than other places that grill eggs first then stuff in extras. Cheese extra and available. Breakfast Potatoes: Redskin potatoes in thick cubes that seem boiled first and then left on the grill with some oil or butter to keep them warm. Sausage: Links- definitely a classic breakfast sausage flavor with lots of fat. Bacon: Grilled to fatty and floppy, not crunchy crispy. Toast: We were offered Wheat or White and asked about butter- but we also asked about Rye, which was available and I heard someone else ask about Raisin- which was also available.
