This place was one of my favorites for years. I ordered from there multiple times a week. I always got steak tips double fries skinny fries, please and they knew me as soon as I called they would ask me if I wanted a taco. They knew exactly what I was gonna get every time and it was great. I was away from the area for about 10 years and one day cause I don't eat much red meat anymore. I was really craving steak tips so I said you know what I'm in the area. let me go in there the same owner still there and he says we don't have steak tips and I was like how does any place in Massachusetts that does roast beef and seafood and subs and all those kind of things not have steak tips like that is insanity and he had the biggest attitude. Stopped in for a Super roast beef sandwich- the Super is on an onion roll (yum) while the other roast beef sandwiches are on a sesame seed bun. Constantine has been in business there for over 40 years- had a great conversation. Quiet on a Sat as much if his business comes from local business and students from the nearby high school. Heard great things about the pizza rolls- didn't get to try them today, sold out from all the students. Will definitely go back. My beef sandwich was fantastic. read more

I haven't been to Mimi's in many many years and it doesn't seem like anyone else has either. Went there there for lunch and my friend and were the only ones there. The food came out quick so maybe we just missed everyone during the lunch rush. Mimi's has been here for a long time and it shows. We order 3 roast beef sandwiches. I was so excited to try this place again but the beefs were lack luster. The beef was sliced thin but was cold. Because the beef was cold there was no melting of the cheese. I rarely leave negative reviews, but I feel compelled to share my experience at Mimi's Roast Beef & Seafood. From the moment I walked in, the owner/employee gave me attitude. When I asked for a 3-way roast beef sandwich, he just stared at me. Confused, I clarified my order, only to be lectured about sandwich sizes (junior, regular, super) in a condescending way that made me feel like I was being talked down to. I brushed it off and ordered the largest size, but when I returned to pick up my food, he began yelling at me for having a service dog. He told me, "Don't come back here again... with your dog." I found this behavior unprofessional and unacceptable. The food may be fine, but the customer service was terrible. One star is more than fair -- I would leave zero if I could. read more

It's Mimi's, what else is there to know? If you don't know about this place then... That's okay, because till today neither did I!! It's a tiny shop of a bygone, more civilized age and it's owner and food reflect that. An experience from back when fast food wasn't a coorporate, soulless experience and was handmade with quality and passion. When you walk in you're confronted by the owner, a nice man of around 70 who told me he's been working his shop for 37 years. Prices are great and look like food prices from pre-covid times (in a good way)! I got the fish sandwich on recommendation from the owner and he fried it right then and there. Fresh cooked everything. Crispy, fresh, juicy haddock with a slathering of tarter sauce and a good handful of lettuce between two hot soft buns. Delicious. The fries were also spectacular. Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, they tasted like an upgraded McDonald's french fries, and they actually tasted like potatoes indicating they were probably made in house. Not sure if they are but they definitely tasted it! Fries needed a bit of salt but in every regard they blew the competition out of the water. There was a small bench to sit in and it gave an antiquated, quaint vibe, but this is more of a take out food place. Worth it to drive her just for the fries alone. People complaining of parking are right, but you can honestly park across the street at the Dunkin's anyways. The only inconvenience is that there's an $11 dollar minimum for card, which, considering the food is so cheap, is hard to reach with just a sandwich (hint: get fries to reach this). So keep that in mind. I highly highly highly recommend Mimi's! This place is where it's at! read more

I used to visit a Mimi's in Waltham years ago before they closed and was always a solid Roast beef sandwich with north shore type and real Roast beef. I was in Watertown and saw this Mimi's and assumed associated with prior one from Waltham. I saw menu and price for a super roast beef sandwich was 8.90.... Reasonable I ordered with cheese and was 9.70 with tax. Onion roll on point toasted. Roast beef was not North Shore real Roast beef. It was a ham type roast meat just like Arby's roast beef and salty . I don't like as I don't like Arby's roast beef for a Roast beef sandwich. Mayo, barbecue sauces, cheese all as expected. If you like Arby's then you will like this. I do like Arby's beef and cheddar sandwich if desperate... but never would ever considered this super beef like I eat at Nics roast beef in Northshore Beverly Ma. or other similar sandwiches. I wanted to like this place as prices reasonable, but ham cold sliced type meat of some sort won't do it for me. Not the Mimi's as was in Waltham used to be real deal. I'm not from the north shore, but I've had my share of roast beef sandwiches while living and working north of the Charles. Mimi's has the best roast beef sandwich I've ever had for an amazing price. I get the super on the onion roll with onions, pickles, tomatoes, Mayo, cheese, and bbq sauce. My only complaint is that the onion roll is not available outside of the super beef sandwich. No frills joint with an extensive menu. I wanted to love this place but the three way roast beef was a huge letdown. This isn't north shore style roast beef sandwich. The meat was cool and had a ham like deli meat / Arby's texture and saltiness that should not have been there. The meat was cool and at times I questioned if they snuck fresh mozzarella in there due to the salty springy texture. Slices don't fall melt in the moth. Could have used more sauce and more Mayo. Bun wasn't traditional either (but was good) and the menu made it easy to accidentally order a sub or medium. I finished my sandwich but each bite left me more perturbed. A proper roast beef sandwich should be warm, bloody, messy meat, with lots of sauce and Mayo, ideally on a grilled bun. Frescos in Malden, Kipos in Wakefield, and Harrison's in Andover are what I'm measuring again but I've heard others do it even better (billys, modern butcher, etc). West of Boston is in dire need of proper roast beef place so hopefully they consider changing up their sandwich or just change the name and focus on subs. On a positive note, the meat was fresh and the portion size was reasonable for the price. I might go back for a sub but not for the roast beef. read more

I used to eat here two sometimes three times every week when I worked/lived in Watertown. This is pretty much strictly a take out/delivery place. He has three lunch counter stools, but nobody ever eats inside (it's very small). The menu is pretty standard as far as subs/dinners go. He makes a good steak and cheese. His onion rings are good solid rings not "strings"; the fries are like McDonald's fries. What makes Mimi stand out are the following items: 1) Salads. Nothing spectacular about the veggies themselves (fresh every day, but be warned the tomatoes are not always great), but add a GIANT scoop of tuna to one and now you have a salad and a sandwich (he gives you a pita) for 5 bucks (and the salad isn't a puny little side salad). For a little more $, you can get really good grilled chicken or steak. The Greek Salad is excellent (tons of feta), and so is his house greek dressing 2) Roast Beef Sandwiches. This is Mimi's signature special. Again, fresh cooked every day by the man himself, very delicious. It's pretty rare though so if that's not your bag you might want to try something else. If you do get it GET THE SAUCE! He makes the best barbecue sauce I've ever had, with just the right amount of spice to it. 3) Haddock dinner. Essentially fish and chips (though I believe he throws in a few onion rings, I can't recall), unlike so many other places of this ilk, Mimi takes a fresh piece of fish, breads it and puts it in the fryer. Mimi's Roast Beef & Seafood has become staple in Watertown for comfort food. I'm sure they have great salads and some other light or healthy options, but it's not why you order from there. Your order there for their Chicken Finger Sub w/ extra cheese and bbq sauce. You order their Chicken Finger Dinners that will fill you up for a day. They also make a mean Taco (order it without tomato). Of all the times over the years I have ordered from there, I have never tried the Roast Beef Sandwhich. I'm sure it's good, but I never had one. Delivery can take a while especially during the dinner hours and on weekends. Take out is always reliable. I have only had a few mix ups when doing take out, but nothing to complain about. They do have a $2 delivery charge. Throughout half days in high school or during exams, this was the place to go for lunch with friends. Every time I'm in Waltham, I make a point to stop here and get a junior roast beef sandwich with cheese and mayo. YUM! It's super tiny inside, but there are seats, which is nice. This place is a hidden gem! My boyfriend and I live a few blocks from this take out restaurant and we order from them on a monthly basis. It's not a sit down restaurant and there is not much to see as far as decor, however, the food is amazing! We highly recommend the roast beef sub and the chicken parm sub. We are both Italians, and I'll admit, we can get picky about our Italian dishes. This place does not disappoint!
