Netta is so gentle and patient, and she makes getting my braids done a much more comfortable experience. If you're tender-headed like me, you definitely understand how important that is! I booked an appointment because the stylist was advertising a promotion for a specific children's hairstyle. I sent her a picture of the hairstyle I wanted for my daughter, and based on the promotion and the picture I provided, I reasonably expected my daughter to receive that style. However, when the appointment took place, the stylist did not perform the hairstyle that was advertised or the style I had shown her. The promotional hairstyle also included a bow. During the appointment, the stylist asked me what color bow I wanted, which led me to believe the bow would be provided as part of the service. However, she never provided the bow. Despite the fact that the service I received was not the promotional style I booked and the included accessory was not provided, I was still charged the full price. When I brought this to the stylist's attention and explained that this was not what we had discussed, her response and attitude toward me were extremely rude and disrespectful. I was not treated as though I was simply raising a reasonable concern about a service I had paid for. Instead, the interaction became unnecessarily hostile and uncomfortable. What concerns me even more is how my daughter was treated during the appointment. My daughter is a child with disabilities, and I made the stylist aware of this. My daughter was in the chair for approximately three hours. She did not scream or cry throughout the entire appointment. She briefly reacted a few times because the braiding was painful, which is something that can happen when a child is getting their hair braided. Other than those brief moments, she cooperated with the service. The stylist stated that she works with children, which made her attitude particularly concerning to me. After I explained my daughter's disabilities, the stylist responded in a way that made me feel as though my daughter's behavior was an inconvenience rather than something that should have been handled with patience and professionalism. The interaction affected my daughter emotionally. Afterward, my daughter told me that the stylist hated her and didn't like her. As her mother, that was extremely upsetting for me to hear. A child should not leave a professional children's hair appointment feeling disliked, unwanted, or ashamed because they experienced discomfort during a service. I understand that working with children can sometimes be challenging, and I am not expecting a stylist to tolerate inappropriate behavior. However, there is a major difference between appropriately managing a child's behavior and treating a child and their parent with disrespect. If a stylist advertises that they work with children, I expect them to demonstrate patience, professionalism, and appropriate communication, particularly when working with a child who has disabilities. I am asking management to please review this situation, including the advertised promotion and the conduct of the stylist during my daughter's appointment. I would also like clarification as to why I was charged the full price when the promotional hairstyle and included bow were not provided. I am not submitting this complaint simply because I was unhappy with the hairstyle. My concern is the combination of the service not matching what was advertised, being charged full price after raising the issue, and the way both my daughter and I were treated when I attempted to address the matter. I would appreciate a response from management regarding how this situation will be addressed. I also hope the shop takes this complaint seriously so that other parents, particularly parents of children with disabilities, do not have a similar experience.

She was confident and was so kind, made me an appointment for a few days later I went in. I was nervous because I've had so many experiences with Hair that weren't so good. I got to the shop. Melissa was so kind and friendly and has so much knowledge she colored my hair. The wash was amazing. My scalp just felt like it was breathing again. She curled my hair and I just feel like a new person. Disrespectful. I had an appointment for Saturday at 9am…read morewith DJ. I text when I'm 5 minutes away, and then when I'm there. A stylist asks who I'm there for, I say DJ, and then she says oh I'm sure she's on her way. I thought to myself wow, she's not even here, okay... DJ leaves my texts on read without responding and now I've waited 30 minutes. I text again asking, "What's your ETA?" .. no response, but her read receipts say she's seen it. Another stylist asks me who im there for, I say DJ, she says "oh DJ isn't coming in today, she didn't text you?" I say no and then she finds me another stylist who is there to do my hair. My time was ultimately wasted by DJ who eventually finally texted that she was feeling under the weather and that we'll "have to reschedule" but she should have told me that at least an hour before my appointment time, at the very minimum when she read my texts that I was there instead of just leaving me on seen. My total waiting time since I arrived at the salon was an hour and a half, and I was going to just go home but I had spent this much time already and had already (hesistantly) agreed for another stylist to do me hair. The new stylist was nice and gave me some decent hair tips and all was good with the wash, deep condition, and trim, but when it came to the actual style, oh lord. I asked for her to define my curls and I already had a part in my hair upon arrival. She doesn't ask me what part I want or anything. She only defines the back of my head, and finger coils parts of my hair in the front and gives me a DEEP A** side part, so there's a mountain of hair piled above my forehead. I was asleep during this part bc you know, sleep deprived college student, but she still should've asked and this was simply not what I asked for. I looked like somebody's Aunty. She explained that the front of my hair has more of a wave than curl pattern, but I've defined my whole head of hair before. Just because it's looser doesn't mean it can't be defined to give a consistent curl pattern. I had been in that salon at that point for so so long that I just took the L, paid and left. Restyled my entire head when I got home, so my only apology to her is sorry for her wasting her time but she decided to do her own thing without asking. DJ canceled the appointment in her head and didn't bother to communicate. These are supposed to be grown professional adults. I am never going back there.

Your final statement was that you would get back with me later in the day to make an appointment for some time on Friday, Jan. 6th. I hadn't heard from you and followed up with a text. NO RESPONSE. You texted me back the next day (Sunday morning) stating that when you had downtime, you would get back with me. I replied with an "Ok." I gave you the benefit of the doubt, understanding that you may be busy, and decided to wait a few days. NO RESPONSE. In our conversation and text, you never directed me to your website to make an appointment nor a consultation. Quite frankly, you should not make the assumption that "all NEW and and existing clients" know how to reach you and book an appointment. I was a potentially NEW client and reached out to you via phone and text, old school style, with good intentions. I have sat in Jocelyn's chair on 3 occasions and Just know that when a product or service she is providing does not go well she will not take accountability or even validate her negligence. Which is ironic because she prides on giving good quality hair practices and products, when the reality is far from that. It's disturbing to see the black community support black business as they tear the same people down paying their bills by providing low quality service and products. I paid Joycelyn a couple hundred dollars for a 22" curly hair texture that I was very specific about regarding the specifications. She sold me on how she professionally sales hair weave and clip ins that are of the highest grade quality hair and will "last a lifetime". I was swayed by what seemed like a genuine hair pitch and also considering her to be my trusted hair stylist at the time. To my disappointment after paying her a couple hundred she quoted for the hair she gave me some loose clip in that apparently she didn't have any packaging for. When I took them home to analyze them, from the touch the hair was breaking and shedding. The strands also felt very course, not like any other Virgin or human hair I've ever encountered. I attempted to dampen the hair and use Design Essentials conditioner. The hair completely matted and the curls were straight and stringy, completely unusable. I sent photos to Jocelyn and her first response was "I've never had any quality issues with my supplier" as if me being a paying customer was expected to pitty this disappointment & inconvenience. She has refused to pay me back the full amount for the hair and for a future appointment that was booked before I was scammed through the insufficient weave provided. Instead of sending back to the money a basic industry standard she decided to make up services that she did not provide or overcharged for previously. It is clear she obviously needs the money otherwise she would not be illegally withholding money that is not hers. So consider that. I have attached photos for receipts I hate seeing people being taken advantage of and mislead, especially amongst our own community. For existing and prospective clients be warned when doing any type of business transaction with this individual/ entity.
