I took my Toyota to them. I informed them that my car would run, but cut out completely (including all lights etc) and then run again. I didn't tell them that I was having a difficult time getting stopped and that I was pressing hard on the brake. I also didn't tell them that my car would rev up when stopped sometimes. They figured it all out when I took my car in. My brake pads needed replaced, my spark plugs needed replaced, and my idol throttle needed cleaned. It all made perfect sense to me. I was very pleased with the interactions with the staff/employees. The actions started when I had my Buick towed to Tri-Star. I was asked about the problem from a very polite mechanic and he listened. A couple of hours later I was called, and said the car was ready for pick-u;. When I arrived, I was pleasantly greeted and was told that there seems to be no problem and that there would be "no charge" for their examination. A short conversation ended with a possible "weather" problem. After driving it some distance, I agree! I use to love this place. They were always competitive regarding price. They would always offer less expensive alternatives to your fears. I was told they are under new management. I took my 10 year old car Hyundai to check the brakes and engine light. I was shocked to discover the fee was going to be $750. The car is an accent so I declined the excessive bill. Imagine taking your car to the shop paying for a diagnostic to figure out what was wrong with it. Then , you pay them a thousand dollars to fix it. I had to make multiple trips back and forth to TriStar because my car was doing what it was doing when I first took it to them. The Toyota of Newnan dealship told me the water pump was leaking. Tri Star would not fix tge water pump that they put on my car. They only suggested that I spend more money to continue replacing everything until they could find the right solution. Please let my experience be a lesson. DON'T take your car there. My car is broken down and sitting in my yard. They never fixed it.i would never recommend TriStar Automotive to anyone. read more

Took my tire to tri star to have it PATCHED not plugged. Got my tire back and the guy had plugged it. He put so much air pressure in it that it made a bubble on the side wall. Didn't notice it till I got my tire back on my truck. Of course it went flat.Took it back up there, they kept it over night. I had to call the next day to find out about it. They had forgotten my name and number. Then I noticed they had put some kind of sealant around the rim to keep it from leaking. As someone who knows a little more than the average guy about cars, I'm always a little skeptical of auto repair facilities. I usually feel like they are trying to "drum" up business to increase sales. I never feel like that with Tri Star. In fact, when I have had repairs done and I have wanted to bring in my own part... I felt totally welcome and accepted to do so. Not judged or looked down on. I have used Tri Star for numerous repairs on our 3 cars. And after each visit they seem to earn my trust even more. I wouldn't hesitate if I was out of town to have my wife drop our car off here to have it diagnosed and repaired. I feel like this is a business that truly chooses to do the right thing, employ the right people, and they strive to be honest and please the customer in all they do. Complete lack of communication which results in the customer spending more time and money than should legally be allowed

We've been taking our cars to Tri Star since we moved here in '06 - which is, I think, around the same time they opened. We have older vehicles and they have always done a great job at keeping them in great shape. I believe that our vehicles, as a rule, run better (and are in the shop far less) after being in Tri Star's care after several years. They are great communicators and always let me know the status of my vehicle and what their recommendations are - giving me options when possible. In the few times when there has been a problem, they have made it right. You may be able to call around and find a lower price somewhere, but I wouldn't switch from Tri Star. They've been there for us for 16 years. If you haven't tried them for awhile, you may want to consider trying them again - the guys working the front desk now are "alumni" who have returned, who had worked there several years before. I call these guys the "Dream Team." Also, mechanic Randy not only cares about our vehicles, he cares about our family - and he can figure it out when no one else can. read more

Showed up to have them put a Knock Sensor on a 2003 CRV. I had already removed undercarriage molding and the bad sensor. All they did was put the new sensor on. From the time the tech got in the car, replaced the part, and was out of the car took 21 minutes and 3 seconds. The total charge was $75. I was charged at a rate of $225 an hour for labor. Last bit of insult to injury, a lady had an oil change and some diagnostics that she was paying for, $50. Nice clean shop, but when I did 3/4 of the labor getting smacked with a $75 charge is ridiculous. I might as well went to a dealership. read more

Although their staff is friendly ..their pricing is insane! I was quoted over $800 here for something that I was quoted everywhere else at $350 and under. I ended up only paying $250 some other place . Not to mention their outrageous diagnostics fee of $120 ! I have been a long time customer and will not be returning. Excellent service and pricing. These guys go out of their way to find a less expensive option for you, even with OEM parts. Can perform more complex repairs requiring module coding for late model BMW's. Communication could be a bit better, but overall a very satisfactory experience. These mechanics are a joke and shouldn't be licensed. I took my car in to get an alternator replacement, and when they were finished about 4 or 5 days later they gave my car back to me with a rattling noise. I questioned it and they said because it wasn't an original manufacture part it didn't fit snug and that it wasn't an issue. WRONG! Months later my serpentine belt broke and guess what caused it...MY ALTERNATOR THAT TRI-STAR REPLACED WASN'T EVEN BOLTED DOWN. So the rattling was not a result of it not being an OEM part but because it wasnt even secured. What a shame. Additionally, not even a week after receiving my car back, my radiator was shot...I took it to the Nissan dealership and based on the puncture mark in the radiator, they inferred that it was penetrated while Tri-Star was repairing the alternator. I took my findings to Tri-Star manager's and the mechanics but they denied that it was anything they did, that it was a coincidence. PLEASE AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS. THEY WILL COST YOU MORE MONEY IN THE LONG RUN!! read more
