I can't even begin to explain how disappointed I am about this place. For starters the place is very loud so my boyfriend and I were having trouble hearing each other let alone our waitress. However I understand that this place is new and therefore busy so I forgave the noise in hopes of a good meal, which I did not receive. My boyfriend and I ordered the mussels white to start and for $14 I was expecting a lot more, but looking back this was definitely the best part of our meal. For entrees I ordered the Triangle Burger (which comes with long hots on it so if you don't like spicy you better request them taken off) and my boyfriend got the eggplant parm sandwich. I must say that the burger was cooked well and it tasted great but what disgusted me was how stale my bun was. It was chewy and I had trouble cutting my burger in half let along eating it. It was bad enough that it wouldn't even squish down when I picked it up and after one bite I abandoned it and ate my burger with a knife and fork. The eggplant parm sandwich that my boyfriend ordered was mediocre at best and I am sad to report that their eggplant was frozen. He has made eggplant parm countless times and works in the food industry so I completely trust his judgement on this one. First the positive- the food. We had just come from the ER and were starving. We just wanted comfort food. My daughter had fettucini bolognese and I had spaghetti and meatballs (not vegan). EXCELLENT meatballs, some of the best I ever had. So moist. My daughter loved her dish as well. The tomato gravy was also excellent. And the garlic bread was really good. Service was good as well. Now the negative- the noise. It was literally deafening in there. I could not hear my daughter, I could not hear my waitress. I could, however, hear two shrieking women in the bar area and a large table across the room. Every word. Both of us ended up taking motrin for headaches from the noise.I also found it a bit too dark but I could live with that. The noise will honestly stop me from coming back. Triangle Tavern just opened and already is one of my favorite places. I have been 3 times and every time had to force myself to try new things. It's hard to order something different when you don't want to waste a visit because you loved what you had last time. Garlic bread is amazing, vegan meatballs are off the charts, and the polenta fries are a must have. The spicy broccoli is something I feel I have to order on the side no matter what. I'm vegan but dine with meat eaters and they themselves have loved all the vegan things they've tried. They also loved their meat/seafood based dishes. I also highly recommend the vegan wings, bruschetta, and antipasta plate. I can't wait to try the vegan lasagna...have heard it's insane. The servers and bartenders are great. I love the vibe. I went to the Triangle years ago, before the new management and I felt about as welcome as a fart at a funeral. Three guys there who embodied the perfect stereotype of a South Philly Italian meathead greeted my patronage with open hostility. They apparently didn't take kindly to strangers. The beer selection was on the order of Miller vs Budweiser, and I don't think they served food at all, and if they did, it wasn't anything I wanted to eat. How things have changed. The first time I went with two other people and it was packed (probably because it was one of the first weeks they were open). We were seated at a group of the barstools and the food was pretty underwhelming (I had the meatball sandwich- which was just not that great and I think it might have been the bread). Last night my boyfriend and I decided to give it another shot and I'm very glad we did. Our server was friendly, knowledgeable and on point. I asked which her favorite Negroni was and she pointed me towards the #3 which was a great call. We both ordered salads, which are a bit overpriced ($7 for salads) but both the caesar and house were very good. I had the crispy calamari which did not disappoint and my boyfriend had the eggplant which was incredible (some of the best eggplant either of us have ever had). The only hangup I have is the food price point seems a bit high for the type of food but if it's on occasion and considering the good food quality, I recommend giving it a try. Update: We went there with a group of friends for brunch on Sunday and although the service was fantastic, it took way too long for the food to come out (and it was definitely a kitchen issue not a server one). The bloody marys are pretty good and the meatball that come with them are delicious. We ordered meatball appetizers for the table and they were extremely good. The majority of us ordered burgers and they were fine but nothing memorable and actually sort of bland for the exception of the pepper placed on them. My friends also ordered the french toast and it was good but again nothing memorable. Might come back for the meatballs and a drink or some sweet potato fries but brunch was overall pretty lackluster and we'll probably go somewhere else at least for brunch. read more

Triangle tavern will satisfy old school neighborhood bar fans with it's dark cosy South Philly vibe. I had a creamy pasta entree that was very satisfying, but not so huge that I hurt myself. I tried my friends spaghetti, which seemed spot on. My other friend had a sandwich platter that was enormous, and had a bit too much bread, but was otherwise satisfying. Their menu seems plain, but done well. The vibe is what sells me. Upon hearing that it was my sister's birthday, two Middle aged Italian patrons asked if they could sing to her, then did an expert operatic rendition of Happy Birthday to the loud applause of the restaurant. People said hello and goodbye to us as we walked in and out. Laughing loudly is part of the experience. Overall a really friendly South Philly establishment. read more

This is a cool divey/Italian restaurant in basically the heart of South Philly and I dug it here. The waitress was extremely nice and given us info on the menu, so customer service was good. They have a great list of beers from the basic cheap stuff to good craft selection. The food was really good here too! The polenta fries as a starter was a good way to begin the meal, and I loved the marinara sauce with it. My roast pork sandwich was decent, but I loved the sweet potato fries the most! This was my first time here. I loved the roomy bar and dining room. This place is a must for vegans! The vegan buffalo wings were on the happy hour special list (half off). I prefer regular bbq sauce on my wings but this was traditional wing sauce. The seitan is superb! Beer battered stuffed mushrooms were on the special menu and they were vegan! This was the best thing I ate. I hope the owners put them on the regular menu because they were delicious! We also ordered the broccoli rabe, spicy broccoli, spaghetti and vegan meatballs, and polenta fries. I wouldn't get the rabe again but the spicy broccoli was great. It's not spicy but very tasty. I enjoyed the spaghetti and meatballs and would order it again. I didn't care for the polenta fries but my husband loved them! I ordered The Rosie and that was good. I went here with my boyfriend after a really stressful week, and the atmosphere was exactly what I wanted, and not at all like I expected. It's definitely not super fancy or trendy, kind of like a south Philly thrift store exploded on the walls. It was homey and comfortable, something that can be kind of lost in a lot of the really overwrought hipster places on Passyunk. As for the food, the menu is somewhat standard Italian American, though tastier than other places in the area. The specials are what really stood out, especially the pulled pork, mandarin orange, and arugula bruschetta. My boyfriend got the chicken parm sandwich with extra sharp provolone, which was HUGE and OUTSTANDING. Overall, the tiramisu was probably my favorite, giant and covered in buttercream. The waitress was either inexperienced or busy- I wanted to order a bunch of apps and after I mentioned one she would turn and leave. over and over. I had to keep stopping here and say there's more. Not be deal but strange. The menu was much smaller than I anticipated- many dishes I was excited about they didn't have. We had calamari- little plastic cups of marinara, small portions , ceasar salad, white mussels, garlic bread, polenta. They dont serve lemon with anything- ceasar, mussels, calamari All of it was fine. Nothing was beyond avg or special. I was very disappointed. the entrees were also fine. eggplant parm, chicken parm, a meatball sandwich, pizza. all mediocre. Even the pizza that I thought they were know for could have had a crisper crust maybe left in oven 3 more minutes? Lastly wouldnt make decaf coffee for my mother and lied they were out. Tha regular coffee tasted horrible like bottom of pot grounds horrible. The chocolate cake and tiramisu were both good. So. I can not express how disappointed I was with the Triangle Tavern. I read a couple of good reviews of this place and thought it would be a good go-to spot. However, I was wrong. Starting with service, I felt bad for the staff, seemed like nice people but made several mistakes, including not noticing I had been seated, which led to an unpleasant dynamic throughout the meal. Wasn't in the mood for a fancy beer was looking for a simple mass-produced beer. I intended on having a few. I ordered a Bud Lite draft. The beer that was brought to me didn't remotely taste like a Bud Lite. It tasted like a citrus beer, but couldn't for the life of me figure out what it was. I drank it but decided not to have another. Ordered the Mussels white, which was the high point of the meal but once again perplexed by the heat that was hidden somewhere in the white sauce. Ordered the beef, grayish color, and was on a roll likely found in Missouri not South Philly. Fries were decent but not redeeming enough to have me return. Wow. Last time I was here was 1981. My friends grandmother owned this place and the food was fantastic. Always got the mussels in red sauce and the Veal Parm. This place closed down after a change in ownership and the closing of the kitchen. Pretty much a neighborhood bar for years. I read about someone buying the place and bringing it back to the glory days. They did a great job. While the veal is no longer in the menu, mussels are along with lots of new choices including vegan items. We started with the fried calamari. Stay away from this dish. Oily, no crunchiness and a small portion. The entrees were much better. We shared the pasta with Sunday gravy and the Chicken Parm. The Sunday Gravy dish was massive. It's rigatoni in a perfect red sauce with lots of meat including sausage, meatballs and pork. Delicious. And the Chicken Parm was also great. Tender chicken, not greasy at all, with just the right amour if red sauce and cheese. It came with pasta but didn't try it with the other dish. Ordered long hits as a side. Perfect with the chicken. They also have an adult version of water ice. Just like the real thing, with some kick. Many flavors. Be careful here. The service was great, this place had a good crowd and a good atmosphere, and it brought back Great memories. Thanks to the owners for bringing back Triangle Tavern! read more

I didn't check the temp because I was too tipsy, however it was juicy and delicious so it almost doesn't matter. Thanks triangle ! This is my go-to spot for celebrating big life events as well as making it through a terrible Monday. Triangle has an inviting, authentic South Philly atmosphere with extremely friendly staff that will make you want to be a regular. The best part is that they have some of the best vegan food I've ever had but also have tons of options that my non-veggie friends love. Must try the vegan cheesesteak, polenta fries, vegan mozzarella sticks (only on special sometimes), and honestly I would list everything else. Also be sure to check out their vegan desserts. My relationship with the Triangle goes back more than 25 years, so its closing left us sad, but its reopening was great to see. I brought two big teenage boys that were very hungry, they were not disappointed in their ravioli, calamari or veal francaise (which I had two). So a big thumbs up on food quality. It was not very busy, but the service was incredibly slow and the kitchen timing seemed off. Our server was essentially indifferent, and with the tiny "wine" glasses they provide, you need to keep tracking him down to get refills (should've gone carafe). So all in all - food is a 4.5 for good red sauce with some twists, service is about a 2. Will we be back to the place my husband and I went on our first date, the jury is out. Triangle reopened recently to a new owner and completely revamped menu. We went on a Saturday for an early dinner and it was pretty awesome. Our waitress was great and recommended a bunch of things and she was on point about all of them. We had the chicken parmesan with spaghetti, broccoli rabe, meatball sandwich and a bunch of other stuff. My friends said the meatballs were the best in the neighborhood. I'm glad we tried Triangle out. I would totally come back here a bunch, and it's a great addition to the neighborhood.
