    Guinness & beef stew for St Pat's day menu. Yum
    Joan V.

    Pub food at it's best! We went after a Drexel U Preservation Society presentation at The Olde Swedes church. They had a St Patrick's Day menu available that we ordered from. I had the fish & chips & DH had the beef stew & a Guinness. Yum!! Just what we were looking for.

    We honestly thought this was going to be a dive so were pleasantly surprised upon walking in. It's really a lovely little spot that's more of a restaurant than a bar. We did not eat but I saw a lot of food leaving the kitchen that looked delicious. Great big portions from what I could tell and it all seemed prepared to order. They have a nice craft beer selection as well as martinis, which is my jam. The bartender was very pleasant and helpful. One thing I want to note is how exceptionally clean this restaurant was. Anxious to go back to watch a game and have some food. TVs at the bar.

    So glad we found this neighborhood gem!! The sweet potato fries were delicious!! The impossible burger was A++. The beef burger was also quite good. I can't forget the hummus!!! Ooooolala it was good!! Presentation could be better, but the taste was delightful. We tried different types of beer they offer and were happy with our choices. Really, really good find!!

    What a rude bartender. We were sitting at the bar, he looks at us and doesn't even serve us. 2 others walk in and he serves them right away. Their menu looks good but the service from the start was just horrible. Then he tells the a female that was walking behind the bar that I said "it was a little unfair" and she gave the nastiest look to me. We left. DONT COME HERE if you want rude and disrespectful service. I was hoping to try the food too :-(

    I had the best time with my husband and my pup. The food was GREAT. Scratch made. The service was impeccable! We stayed for hours and just had the best time ever. We will go every week!

    We then came for St. Patrick's Day... this time we were downstairs, the tables were really small and close together but that's to be expected in Philly. It was also really loud, I couldn't tell if it was from the music or all the people talking loud. We did have a cool Australian waiter though;

    My friend Ian and I came here to have a beer and some Pub fare. My Pierogi platter was very tasty and our bartender (Sadie #2 :-)) was delightful. The place itself was very comfortable and we had a terrific time here. I will definitely come back to try the Fish and Chips which I hear are banging.

    Check out the horribly over cooked eggs. Oh, and these small pancakes are the $7 short stack

    Do they serve bottomless mimosa brunch? Or any brunch mimosa deal?

    It’s actually illegal to offer any bottomless alcoholic drinks in all of PA. Thank the lawmakers in Harrisburg!

I learned later that this restaurant has been around since the early to mid 1900's. Plenty of parking in a large open lot. The place is very large and has one of the longest bars I've seen. The wood is very dark and you can see the chefs cooking over the hearth. They don't take reservations and won't see you until your entire party is there. One of the things I liked for our party of 10 was they had no problems with seating as they also have many large round tables. For mixed drinks, they make them pretty big and potent. For my martini, they sent back an extra glass. They also had great bleu cheese stuffed olives. We ordered onion rings (8 large to an order) and fried zucchini. The onion ring I had was pretty good. I didn't have the fried zucchini but heard it was also pretty good. Other than the light fare items, all dinners come with their salad bar which has both iceberg lettuce and Caesar Salad along with many fixings as well as cheeses and bread. I had the Baked Seafood Platter which came with scallops, shrimp, Clam Casino (without the shell), Maryland crab cake and a small lobster tail for $49.99. My wife had the baked chicken breast which she said was quite dry. The dining area is quite large and reminds me of the restaurants at a casino. Some in our group said it reminds them of Medieval Times due to the dark wood vibe. While I thought it was a bit pricey, I would still come back and try their signature steaks or prime rib.

The salad bar is classic: Caesar salad, iceberg, blue cheese, bacon bits, etc. Meet family here for a fancy night out, and it was a blast. Service was good. Also, they won't stay you until the entire party is there. We waited at the bar for everyone to arrive, where one cocktail was more than enough for me. You definitely get your money's worth, and you should not drive afterward. (I did not.)

The first thing I did was head straight for my favorite, Cantillon from Belgium. This visit, I tried their Kriek LG, a fruited lambic made by adding sour cherries to a two-year-old aged lambic. All I can say is... WOW! Tart, complex, refreshing, and dangerously drinkable. If beer could win an Academy Award, this one would be giving an acceptance speech. Now, let's talk food. I ordered the Thai Curry Mussels, and they were absolutely outstanding. The broth was packed with flavor, and the mussels were cooked perfectly. They easily rank in the top five mussel dishes I've ever had, and I've done my research! Pro tip: Don't make the rookie mistake of eating all the bread first. Save some for the end so you can soak up every last drop of that incredible curry broth at the bottom of the bowl. Trust me, you'll thank me later. The service is always excellent. John usually takes care of us in the back, and he consistently makes the experience even better with great recommendations and friendly service. In side is cozy and friendly! If you live in Philly and haven't been here yet, what are you waiting for? Great beer, amazing food, and outstanding service--this place checks every box. Just be warned: one visit and you'll be planning your next trip back before you even leave.

Since the bar seats were full, we had the choice to head all the way to the 2nd rear bar. We took the short journey to the secluded small bar that was also full and took refuge at one of the four tables. We took a look at the "Beer Bible" or their version of a drink menu. The bartender informed us that we could not sit at the table unless we were ordering food. At this point we ended our pub crawl and left defeated scratching our heads. This was far from a classy place without a line out the door during the week which made it even more alarming. Interesting experience as our last taste of Philly.

A quick note for first-time visitors: the restaurant has multiple entrances, and I initially arrived at the back door. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful in directing me to the correct entrance. The space has a unique atmosphere. The indoor dining area felt quite dark, but the restaurant appears to have multiple levels, including an upstairs dining area and a bar, which adds to its charm. I started with a cocktail and really enjoyed it. It was fruity, well-balanced, and had just the right amount of alcohol without being overpowering. Based on recommendations, I ordered the burger. Unfortunately, it didn't live up to the hype for me. It could have been cooked better, and overall I wasn't particularly impressed with it. What stood out most was the service. My server was attentive, friendly, and checked in regularly without being intrusive. Overall, The Dandelion offers a pleasant atmosphere, excellent service, and great cocktails. While the burger wasn't a standout for me, I'd be willing to return and try other menu items.
