Tribe Supper Club has recently rebranded themself to In Session which is a focus on the music opposed to the food. It truly is the same vibe but with a DJ. I've been to Tribe Supper Club a few times prior to the rebrand and it was always lackluster. The drinks were overpriced and not well made. The music was good but the amount of tables on the main floor made it impossible to dance. They offer free entry to women before a certain time but the club would be nearly empty or filled with people just sitting down. Majority of the popular bars in the West Loop area do not charge cover so it is hard to convince yourself to pay to enter a club that you aren't guaranteed to have fun. Tribe Supper Club is a perfect case of focusing on table service over creating a fun vibe for everyone. I ruled out ever going to Tribe Supper Club because it was always meh but gave it a chance since I heard they rebranded to In Session. I visited during happy hour and they had a DJ playing. They were doing a special happy hour that offered zodiac sign drinks, the drink I got was good. It gave me a nice buzz and matched the type of drink I would like. It was a cute conversation starter to see if the drink suggestion matched what the different zodiac signs at my table would drink. It does seem like they took a few of the tables away which is a plus. But there was a still a lot of them, I would have to visit later in the night to see if they clear the dance floor a little more. The DJ they hired was not that great. Her mixes were not smooth. You can tell she was trying to blend songs but the background music was overpowering the main song she was trying to play. It was just loud. I may give In Session another try but it would most likely be if a friend suggests visiting. read more

We visited this spot while in Chicago.It has the same dining format as a lot of modern places. You can buy a booth and receive a tower mimosa. I ordered food and had the oxtails and grits. The oxtails were an 8.5 out of 10. The grits were super runny, so I didn't enjoy my overall food experience. However, I did taste my friend's chicken and waffles and they were a 10 out of 10! I wish I would have ordered that instead. The service was really good. Our server was very attentive and made sure we were taken care of the entire time. I must say that they do play music. The ambiance of this place is dimly lit, smooth music and semi-comfortable. If you sit at the high boys you can feel a bit akward, but if you sit on the couches you have a more relaxed and comfortable feel. The service was average. I didn't wait long to be greeted or have my order taken, but getting water refills wasn't easy. The food was good but the menu was limited. One of the table party members had to choose an entree three times before they were told what they wanted was available. The drinks came out strong and tasty. Came here while visiting Chi-Town for the weekend & I am in LOVE!!!! From being greeted by the security/doorman who knew right off rip that we were visitors and really didn't know the dress code but was so nice to still allow us to come in for their Happy Hour. This place is so cute and the bar staff AWESOME! I forgot the young lady name but she was the most beautiful person with diamonds in her teeth...trust she will make your drink with love!!! We also had the opportunity to meet one of the owners who was super nice and very aware of what their customers needs are. We also had some food, not much but wanted to try some things out but because it was Happy Hour the menu was limited but very good...I didn't get to snap really any pictures but two and the one of my food does it no justice. Cute spot for solid food, okay drinks and overall good vibes. It's small but there's plenty of seating for an intimate vibe. The seating is a mix of bar, small tables and then lounge seating for bigger groups. There's a DJ and karaoke on Thursdays and live music on the weekends. The drinks were just OK to me and my friend. I tried the butterscotch Manhattan and my friend had the rum punch. The oxtail ramen was pretty good. The broth was amazing. The meat was tender. The vegetables were fresh and there was plenty for leftovers. It would've been easier if the oxtail was already taken off the bone. I had to ask for a separate container to break it down. I'd also recommend always providing a spoon with the dish and having some chopsticks on hand as an option. My friend said the Rasta pasta was good. The service was good. This is my second visit and first time happy hour. Happy hour menu was great. The Summertime Chi is an excellent drink for a spring happy hour. The service was slow. Sat a the bar for over 10 minutes before we finally had to ask the waitress how we are suppose to order because several bartenders walked by us and didn't even speak. Keep in mind this was early HH, so not many people to wait on, let alone in the middle of the bar. Once we were finally served, everything was really tasty and delicious. One of the places we tried for brunch when visiting Chicago was Tribe Supper Club. It's Black-owned lounge that has brunch and Caribbean-fusion cuisine. They have bottomless mimosas at $35 per person as well. Since we were primarily in Chicago to try different food spots, we ate prior to our visit here so we just got two things to share for the 3 of us. The chicken and waffles were perfect and delicious. Classic fried chicken tenders and waffles that had the perfect level of sweetness. The oxtail and grits were also pretty good. The flavor on the oxtail was perfect and it was tender. The grits had good flavor too but I do wish they were thicker. Service was good and I also enjoyed the live entertainment. When we went, it was a pretty relaxed vibe but I hear it can get lit in there. read more

Got there close to 9pm on a Thursday to watch the NBA Finals/Karaoke. They were on the late night menu which was fine. We ordered drinks and food. My drink (pink flamingo) was very mediocre. The jolly rancher was worth it once you had 3 of them. They had $5 shot specials that were probably a half ounce in a cup. The ambiance was nice, I'll give them that. There wasn't a cover and no unnecessary issues going on. I ordered the catfish poboy. It was more of a catfish sandwich on a brioche hamburger bun. And the bun was not heated/warmed or toasted and it came in takeout containers. I wouldn't order again. The garlic aioli didn't have much flavor but the fries were good. Friday night vibes. Great placed to grab drinks, hear some music and nibble on some appetizers. What a delight that is locally black owned and operated. We had a reservation but probably could of just sat at bar (we were early - don't suggest during prime time). Because we had a reservation we were able to pick high top or couch. We decided to relax on a couch. Taylor was our server for the day and she was so nice. For drinks we had Margarita and Remy Streetcar. Luckily these were discounted for Happy Hour for $10. Margarita was fresh and tasty. My husband enjoyed the streetcar. Atmosphere of the tribe supper club was very modern, artistic and colorful. You could tell that effort was really put into making an esthetically pleasing experience. Enjoyed the fact that there was a stage above the bar area and I'm sure makes for a great time when there is live music. Another cool décor was that they had artwork displayed in the hallway with QR Code so you can get more background about the artist & piece. For food we got the coconut shrimp and jerk chicken taquitos. Both items were made to perfection. I will say probably more of a appetizer than an entree. We did not get an opportunity to stay for dinner but it did appear people were happy with some of the other food selections. The vibe of the supper club was nice and kind of a grown and sexy crowd. The sound system was really good and I wish we had stayed for the live performance. I will let you know that they do have a 2 hour maximum for your table reservation. I was so excited to try this out. My friend made reservations for a group of us. The place was packed. There is street parking. We had to wait to be seated although our party was present. We came at the end of a band planning which sounded nice. I ordered a Shirley temple and twice it came out flat. It's just sprite and grenadine. I ordered food but it doesn't matter what it was because we never got it. We waited over an hour and fifteen minutes only for the server to say the kitchen never got it and we would have to reorder. I am new to Chicago spots so really disappointed at the service and lack of food. I was excited to try it out and left hungry and discouraged about returning. This place is amazing! I came here with a friend visiting from out of town as well as his friend and they had a live Stevie Wonder tribute band performing above on stage. The place was busy, and it seems like many people made reservations to be seated. We came in as a walk-in and they were a bit iffy of us coming in saying there wasn't a guarantee. Essentially there was a little confusion on if we could come in or not but eventually they let us in. The place is perfect for a date night or a group with friends. Very cool supper spot located in Chicago. They have live music and a DJ. Make sure you make reservations because seats are limited at the bar and after a while, they remove the bar seats to make room for more patrons. The drinks were good and they do offer food. I tried the truffalo wings and fries. The wings were hot but in temperature and taste, which is always a winner for me. The fries were good as well. This whole place is a vibe! If you can get past that it is a bit small on the inside you'll be ok. I only mention it because the way the stage is set up and then the tables down the middle you'll definitely have people standing around your food if you're there for dinner. Where do I begin? My friend and I were looking for a nice, chill spot to eat some brunch and catch up on conversation while enjoying some food. We ended up checking out Tribe supper club. A friend of mine used to work at the location, so I was excited to check out the spot for myself finally. I was a bit hesitant when I arrived because I quickly noticed the attire others were entering the facility was a very upscale BET awards vibe. I believed I was way too underdressed for Mimosas and chicken and waffles. But decided to stay anyway. The host and secretary were amiable, and even though I didn't set a reservation, I was seated right away. The interior of the tribe was amazing. The Caribbean and hip-hop vibe, and they just so happen to have a band playing R&B, gospel, and House hits. I was seated in areas where I couldn't see the show, but that wasn't an issue. My waitress was very kind and knowledgeable and did everything she could to make the experience as enjoyable as possible. Let's get into the food. I ordered the Chicken and Waffles, which were delicious and seasoned well. I will say I prefer chicken wings, but the breast was still good, and the Waffle was the right amount of crisp. My friend got the steak and eggs, and It was pretty tough. The stake they used was the Filet mignon, which unfortunately didn't meet the mark. We washed everything down with the bottomless mimosas. Now that we got that out of the way, let's discuss the issues. First off, it was WAY TOO LOUD. The windows were not open, so the sound stayed in the space. I run sound and am also a DJ. The sound was way too loud for brunch at 1:30. Also, the Host talked the entire time throughout the band break. I found it quite annoying. My friend and I were sitting at a circle table, and not only could we not hear each other, but we couldn't get barely two words in because the host wouldn't stop riffing on people like he was on def comedy jam. Don't get me wrong; some folks were enjoying it, maybe because they were made aware of what the environment was like but for me, who came for brunch and beats, which was the advertised event, it was not at all of what I expected. The bottomless mimosas helped the experience because once we were tipsy, it became a party. We voiced our concerns about the host, and it seemed the staff was a bit annoyed with his style as well. We did have a good waitress; however, she was injured after slipping near the kitchen. I believe she was taken to the hospital, and another wait staff filled in, and they were fantastic too. Also, just as a note, if you're going to Tribe, know that you're also paying for the environment. The bill cost around $130, so it's pretty pricey. That may be why they are trying to give an Extravagant show. We stayed for a bit of the DJ set, which started around 3:30 when the Same Host and new DJ riffed back and forth while playing bangers and RnB. It was cool until we got into the R Kelly conversations, where the host tried to convince the audience they would sing along with the convicted singing legend entering the room. It was time to go after that. Overall it was a decent experience. If I were a bit more prepared, I could see how Tribe would be a good time. The food was a bit pricey but good. I enjoyed my Chicken and waffles and bottomless mimosas. The staff was excellent and welcoming. The band was great, but the host and the volume brought the experience down a bit for me. But if you are looking for a Hyped Brunch experience, this may be for you. Put on your best fit and dancing shoes and step out to Tribe Supper Club. 3 out of 5 read more

Boy we had a time at Tribe!!! If only I was about 15 years younger, and my body could hang!! The vibe here was not what was expected. I had NO expectations as it was my Surprise Brunch for my Birthday!! SO I was pleased with the Food, music and fellowship!! We ordered Brunch of course and the Oxtail & Grits!!! Babi I know food, and this was heavenly! Them Grits alone had us in a trans!! We had to talk to the kitchen, and they came right over.. You have to show your appreciation and gratitude to people while they are here. You never know what type of day they are having. The Chefs here are the type of Men you dream about. We were checked on by the Bar Manager Travis and his hospitality to us and the staff is amazing!! You can sense the passion he has for the business, and he took the time to actually talk to us and get some real raw feedback. Our Model of a Server Taylor was AMAZING and was what servers should look like and took care of us and the other tables in her area. As the day got busier, she pulled back her hair and handled it like a Champ with a smile, grace and upmost professionalism. Oh my goodness I have no words to describe how freaking AMAZING the food is here. I have gone about 3 times now for birthday events and special occasions and every time I'm so excited to order food because it really is amazing. Food: The food I had from the breakfast/brunch menu is the chicken and waffles and it is to die for! I also had a bite of my friends shrimp and grits and that had to be the best grits I think I ever tasted in my life. Drinks: The drinks are great here. I honestly can't remember the names of what I've had but there is one drink with Henny in it that was surprisingly really strong and I felt great. lol Ambiance: This place is a whole vibe. I wanted to like this place more than I did. Looked dope, but after sitting at the bar for awhile, noticed that the A/C wasn't on and on a 90 degree day...it should have been. Went for drinks only during Sunday brunch hour. There was a drink on the menu, that was no longer available (that's cool, just take it off the menu then). Wasn't too crowded and drinks were solid, but service was lacking. When you order a drink and the bartender gets on her phone, then goofs off with the other staff, THEN decides to make your drink, that's says something to me about work ethic and what type of behavior is allowed. Bartenders def lacks professionalism and don't know much about bartending (as one of the bartenders asked the other bartender to make my drink, side note: it WAS NOT busy). The vibe was great, live music was on point and the establishment was well designed. You could tell who the owners were as they made their rounds and were more accommodating than their staff. I never been to see a live band and get searched .. by security lol I'm not that old I'm 37 .. but from to the bartender to the "hostess " were all kids .. legal ! but I felt like I was at a college campus .. I thought this place catered to adults over 25 at least .. online it says no gym shoes , joggers etc.. I walk in the door ! baggy clothes gyms shoes hats .. This place was beyond horrible in my opinion. The pictures alone speak to the issues and complaints I made known in the original post. All I will say is if you are looking for a great brunch to socialize with your friends and enjoy your actual food...this is not it. Listed facts are as follows: 1. The food, subpar and over priced. 2. Ambiance and cleanliness is questionable. 3. Do not order a "mimosa" tower. Picture is clear where they are stored (near the bathroom 10 steps from the visible rat box). Even if those towers are "broken" per the owner, throw them away! Why even allow a customer to visually see this. 4. Bathroom was trashed at 2:30 pm. Not a staff member around to replace toilet paper or pick up paper towel trash. 5. Cooking staff "fist bumping" non employees through the food service window and adjusting hair with the same gloves they cook with ( yes, I saw this several times happen) 6. Limited tables for food service. Mainly 3 seater bar tops and couches, with have no place to sit your food and eat. The one long 10 seater table where larger parties ( my party had 9 people) could sit was used by staff to fold silverware, laugh and talk. If you are seated at a sunken couch, just prepare to eat that $20 sandwich on your lap, sitting on a stool like a picnic. 7. Environment is extremely loud. Basically this place is a "day drinking" spot not a casual brunch place for conversation. Adjust expectations accordingly. 8. Valet is a joke. Too many issues to name. In closure, there are tons of brunch places in Chicago from north to south, east and west. Choose somewhere else or take the gamble and experience this place if you choose. read more

4.5 Tribe is a straight Vibe My party of 8 got there at separate times and staff did great to accommodate everyone, The early arrivals got the 2 plush green couches which was a perfect spot to view the live entertainment The band was phenomenal. Lots of covers like Jill Scott and Erykah Badu. Some beyoncé some Frankie Beverly Later on while I was there I put two and two together and discovered that the female vocalist was also the vocalist in the candle light experience held on the north side that I visited on my birthday last year. She is still doing a phenomenal job and I had to walk over to her and give her a big hug and she was so happy to receive her flowers Most of the ladies in my brunch party did the chicken and waffles which came out very quickly. We were nervous. We didn't think the food would be hot and fresh but it was. I did have to mention to the waiter who was Jason that I received a small chicken portion he promptly ran to the kitchen and grabbed the biggest piece they had available for me. He was absolutely phenomenal. He took care of all us ladies and all our wants. So I told him I would shout him out in my Yelp review. So hey Jason! After the band was done, I believe it was Sean Mack on the DJ turntable and he did an awesome job blending the '90s and 2000 and the current music all together and small bits . I wish that each song was at least a minute and a half cuz once you start grooving to your song it switches quickly but that's the new way they do things My drink was called Rock the boat which is I believe had a hibiscus vodka pomegranate juice and it was amazing. drinks are a little pricey there so definitely be prepared for that. My group also received a mimosa tower. I don't know the pricing on that but it was enough for about eight of us to have a round for me two rounds. The vibes were right, the live music had very talented trio to preform an r&b medley and the food was fire. Drinks also were delicious- I recommend the pink flamingo. Wearing hermes sandals & upscale attire. I was turned away due to not meeting their dresscode - after leaving Bauvettes Steakhouse - which confirmed I was appropriately dressed. In addition the dresscode is nowhere on the site. So to arrive & be turned away. Especially when there higher end restaurants in Fulton Market that do practice these outdated tendencies. Im beginning to note, that only black owned restaurants attempt to practice the discriminatory behaviors of dresscoding. When asked why were certain women allowed in the establishment inappropriately dressed - the bouncer made an excuse. Then I was informed that heels needed to be worn as a safety precaution in case glass fell & that Tribe was under litigation due to their "dress code". I asked if I paid for bottle service would I be able to enter the bouncer denied. When I asked if I coukd valet - I was denied. Once again, I was in a hermes sandal after leaving an upscale steakhouse. I consider that experience extremely discriminating & which I asked the bouncer why am I not being allowed in - especially when asking to PAY MORE. Upon that, this dress code is NOWHERE on the website. And was on the GROUND upon walking up to this establishment. Its sad that I can walk into an upscale steakhouse & receve better treatment than at a fellow black owned establishment. I would love to speak with the manager or owner because the treatment provided was EXTREMELY disrespectful & distasteful. Especially when most steakhouses have relaxed their dresscode because it was noted to have racial undertones & was a racist way to not allow black people in. TRIBE HAS FAILED BIG TIME. Brought my cousins here a few weeks ago and had a blast. We enjoyed dinner and Friday night live music. The food was amazing - I had the redfish and man! Perfectly crispy and flavorful. My cousin had the braised oxtail and while my food was great, I low key wished I ordered what she had. SO YUMMY. The drinks were decent - on the sweeter side. We hosted a corporate event here and the food was absolutely delicious. Chef James is amazing. He went above and beyond and was extremely helpful. The other gentlemen on his team in the kitchen were also extremely nice and professional. We were extremely pleased with their service. There was also a young lady on the waitstaff that was phenomenal. I'm so upset that I can't recall her name because she was truly wonderful. Very professional and friendly. Oh and did I mention the food was amazing! I don't have many pictures but you can trust if you stop by here you will not be disappointed and the mimosas are lovely! read more

I went to brunch here for a friends bday and had a great time. Highlight of the day was the beautiful sister rocking her own version of Nirvana - Smells like teen spirit. The place isn't big so my only complaint is we were rushed out for another party. And bottle service to sit is very pricey. The food was amazing. read more

I love supporting a black owned business and this place has a very nice atmosphere with live music and great food. However, I give this place 3 stars just because I had a birthday celebration here that I paid for in full 3 weeks prior. Upon arriving they had given my two sections away due to the rules not being clear on their website. The owner Travis did rectify the situation by the end of the night after a few words. So overall I had a great night after that little hiccup and enjoyed my birthday. TIPS: Book through a promoter. Read the website very carefully. Ask detailed questions about your reservations and screenshot everything. read more

That said, y'all know I will and always tell it like it 'tis. Shouts out to my man Boye for incredible vision and standards. Salud indeed, I was sincerely impressed. I've been to TRIBE 2x now, both randomly. Both times hit. That's clutch on the random pop-up/pop-in. WHAT I GRABBED: Personal Cheesecake. They damn near a personal pizza size; get one and split it unless you hungry hungry. Fire though. Hit the brunch recently and...FYE! Cream of Coconut French Toast, Chicken & Waffles, and the heavy hitter Oxtail w/ Grits. Yelp Fam, they hit a triple-double no assist. I came in with no expectations, and most def, it's a move this summer. COMMENDS: So I didn't even mention the vibes @ TRIBE. Once you walk up on Lake St., you know it's different. You come in; it's breezy, a large stage overlooks the entire space. It provides the perfect backdrop for a date, hanging with your friends, or a straight-up happy hour. This is one of my favorite settings in Chicago dining scene thus far in '22. I haven't been to a turn-up late-night event yet, but I can imagine the vibes. I was on a business trip to Chicago recently, and googled Happy hour live music, and came across The Tribe. The service was amazing as I explained to Nicki/Nikki that It was my first time there as I was traveling from NJ. We had a few chuckles over the drink menu as I couldn't decide what i wanted she also told me she was from Jersey. She made me feel very comfortable since i was alone and in Chicago for the 1st time. and was very personable. The food was great and the recommended drinks were on point. Great experience! I will be returning. Service: Staff was friendly and accommodating. I requested a few of their house sauces with my orders and that elevated the experience. I recommend their jerk sauce and the truffalo. Food: The jerk wings fell off the bone. That's a very good sign. Everything felt fresh, and the sauces enhanced simple dishes for me.
