After COVID related closures on salons had been lifted I eagerly returned to (salon name) in an effort to support both the salon and my stylist. However, much to my dismay the experience was absolutely terrible and has left me with severe damage to my hair. Upon sitting in the chair I expressed to my stylist that extra precautions needed to be taken around the edges of my hair that frame my face. They had fallen out and broken off prior to the quarantine, and had regrown during the quarantine. I attribute this to my now ex-stylist not properly caring for my hair and damaging it with excessive heat. She blatantly disregarded my instructions, and began to use excessive heat alongside a metal brush to blow dry my hair. Further, she did a lackluster job at washing my hair which resulted in excessive product and dye build up that lead to scalp irritation. To add further insult to injury, she proceeded to erupt in tears and explain her tumultuous relationship with her boyfriend. The botched service that I paid for also doubled as a therapy session, and her incredibly unprofessional demeanor made me uncomfortable as I was forced into consoling her. Additionally, this would not be the first time She has over shared the details of her life. Due to feelings of guilt and sadness I have ever helped her through prior financial hardships by crafting a resumé for her, and consoled her then. Overall, I am extremely disheartened by the level of treatment I have received. I have been more than generous as a client, and in return I am rendered lackluster services. My hair has begun to fall out from the root again in mass clumps, and this is absolutely infuriating. Please avoid this salon at all costs! I reached out to Donna B of Tribez Salon, after she commented on my Yelp review leaving her personal phone number. We spoke. She led me to believe she was sincere offering to have me come in and meet with her premiere stylist for a consultation. She said she would give me a call after consulting with the stylist. She NEVER followed up. It appears from her actions her only concern was the Salon's reviews on Yelp. She didn't CARE my hair is in Shambles! I continue to lose massive amounts daily. I visited the charming Jeanine for a Natural Mani-Pedi. The salon is very nice... very similar to the Blackhawk location, where my hairstylist Jody is. Unbeknownst to me, the desk does not involve themselves with the Nail Salon, so I did check in there. After 15 minutes I sent her a text... she came and rescued me. I guess I expected the desk to at least alert me to the situation. Nails are in the back... two stations. Many great OPI Natural Nail colors... all the latest collections! I have been all over the Bay trying to find colorists who can take my black hair to bleach blonde in a healthy way and get to the level of lightness I want and finally found someone close to home. I used to have to drive out to SF to get similar results (after trying many colorists in the east bay that couldn't quite get what I was trying to achieve) but now so glad there's Andrew at Tribez. He specializes in color exclusively. Paula Bedo at gold and ash recommended him to me and I am so glad she did (she's amazing too for cuts!). I've been to Andrew twice and he was great about doing a full bleach and keeping my hair healthy as well as following that up later with a method that made the grow out look very natural. Andrew Leon is the BEST colorist in the Bay Area. He's also a master of the blow out -- no one has come close to his beachy waves. Vidal Sassoon trained and from LA, I have followed him to 3 different salons. I now drive an hour each way to get my blonde balayage and touch ups done with him. And he's a super kind and cool person. He's fixed many bad color jobs for other clients and has a loyal following. The salon he's at now is comfortable and unpretentious with a big parking lot. I've been going to Ashley for years and actually followed her from another salon - she's always been great so this appointment was a huge frustration and now I'm out $800. I'm a natural brunette with near virgin hair (balayage from like 2 years ago) and asked to go full blonde. Long story short I wound up looking like a zebra - even though I said multiple times during the appointment, "I don't want to look super stripe-y/like a zebra." I didn't look too closely and wasn't comfortable saying anything before I left but I felt worse and worse with time. The last straw was when someone called me Rogue from X-men. Maybe 2 hours after the appointment I texted to ask if we could correct it and she basically said it was my fault for showing her 4 pictures - you can see those pictures on the right of each picture of my zebra hair and while I don't doubt I could have been clearer, none of them look anything like what I wound up with. Beneath those outer layers it's even more jagged and has lots of bright orange spots. I said I'd be happy to pay for the correction since I didn't communicate well - though I still don't feel it looked anything like the pictures I sent but don't like confrontation. Then after a few texts about our conflicting schedules she ghosted me. This was 3 days ago and I still haven't heard back, which is the most frustrating part. Finally went to another salon and paid to have it fixed. Update: After 3 days she did finally text me offering to see me the next week. I said I'd already gotten it fixed elsewhere (I was too self conscious to possibly go out in public that long without a fix). Every other colorist I've spoken to was horrified I hadn't gotten an immediate refund so I finally asked and basically got a reminder than I'd actually gotten a good deal because she charges a lot (why should I feel good about an expensive appointment when it turned out poorly just because it's expensive?): "In my opinion you got a great deal." I probably would have continued going to Ashley indefinitely and was looking into having her do hair at my wedding - but there's one bridge burned. read more

This review is about Hellen, who does manicures at Tribez. she is rude and unprofessional. I had an appointment scheduled with her for 11:30. A day before the appointment she texts me and asks me to move it to 12:30. I work for a living and had appointments scheduled for the day and advised her I could not. She then advises me that she changed the appointment anyway to accommodate her schedule and fit in her regular clients! I asked her to reschedule me another time and she advised me that if she did not have 5 or more clients she was not driving up to the salon for 2 or 3 people. Tribez Salon in Danville Hartz Ave. My issue is not the salon (I love the salon), it is with a stylist. Her name is Nicole C. I used to go to this salon years ago for many years and had a great stylist who moved on. I was looking for a new stylist and was recommended by the front desk to a stylist by the name of Nicole. I am going on vacation and need my hair done asap. I waited a few weeks for my appointment, I find childcare, get off of work early to make it there on time and get to the salon. I sit down with this hairstylist and she proceeds to look through my hair with a foul look on her face. Right off the bat, she just had an attitude. She asked me, you don't want to cut all of this "dry hair"? I told her no, I just cut it. She looked dissatisfied that I did not want to cut my hair. I tried to explain to her what I wanted which was just basic highlights/root touch up. I mentioned maybe putting in some low lights possibly. I then asked her what color toner she might use for my hair. She said she didn't know. I asked her if I could see the colors before she put a toner on my hair and she said no because she didn't have any color samples to look at. I told her I would google the colors and she got "extremely irritated". I could tell she did not like that I said that and I told her that I don't think it is abnormal to ask to see what color she would put on my hair. After all people, I am about to spend hundreds of dollars on a highlight, it is my right to be able to ask these simple questions like, can I see the color?. If looks could kill. Even with her mask on, you could see how mad and irritated she was piercing through her eyes at me and then said she was going to the back to get things ready or something like that. She walked to the back of the salon and she NEVER COMES BACK. The receptionist walks over and said, "Nicole said she can no longer do your hair and that she had to leave". How unprofessional and rude to treat a client that way, a new client at that. I used to do hair myself many years ago and have been in the service industry and personality has a lot to do with your job. You should be happy, friendly and open to what a new paying customer is looking for. She has the worst customer service skills to be that rude and then to walk off an appointment like that. The silver lining to this nightmare is that I found a great hair stylist. The receptionist stepped right in and made it right as much as she possibly could have. She was so sweet and caring and got me re-scheduled right away with another stylist, Tina and her assistant Allesaundra, who were able to do my hair that night. This other stylist did an AMAZING job on my hair. She is the one that should be being recommended here to people, not some irresponsibe, unreliable "attitude". My new stylist was so cute and friendly and so was her assistant. They both are hands down, the BEST. Not only did they actually use their brain to consult with me and take the time to look at my hair, they were open to my ideas and open to discussing potential ideas and outcomes. They actually had such a great personality on top of it. PLUS, they both did an outstanding job and gave me the PERFECT highlight. JAMI COOK review: -cut -color -extensions (different types!!) -balayage 5 star service! I've had Jami do my hair a few times now for various of the above services. Never once was I disappointed. It's hard to find someone new to do your hair but Jami came through!! Jami took the time to do a thorough consultation on what I wanted and provided a clear expectation. The end result was perfect to what I wanted every time. Her new style of extensions is amazing. It's by far the best way to add length and grow your own hair out. No braids no glue no tape. I will say invest in the hair she recommends; I didn't and it makes a HUGE difference in the final result. The hair I used was much thinner than the hair she prefers to use. My fault, but I'll be buying better hair for my next session (6 weeks+) The salon is busy but her station is in the back so you can actually relax instead of having a neighboring blowout distract you. read more

christine A. did me DIRTY. This was my first time (well, in 6 years..) going to this salon and it was b a d. I checked in at the front desk 5 minutes before my appointment time and ended up waiting twenty to be greeted by the stylist, who appeared confused and disheveled, offering a limp handshake and a "oh.. I didn't know you were here." This was the highpoint of the appointment. We talked briefly about what I wanted, christine offering the idea of a cool layered asymetrical should cut which I was down for. we go to wash my hair and her fingers RAVAGE my scalp, using her nails to scratch at the base of my neck to uh.. lather the product? then she squeezes my head, pushing and pulling the skin into my skull to... moisturize my scalp? In that moment my head was a stressball. She didn't talk to me at all during the wash or the cut, which is cool I get it. I dig the silent type. Ultimately I was there for a good cut. She spent about 5 minutes cutting my wet hair, chopping off length then running the scissors down vertically to get that "layered look" we had talked about. I expected more time spent on this, but she's the silent professional so it's cool. Then she blow dried my hair, using a round brush to give me that blown out "late 30s Danville chic" look. In total the appointment lasted 30 minutes. It was hard to tell how the cut look considering the curling and blow out, but i showered this morning and it dried like this (look at the photo). I didn't know the layers we agree upon were just "strands at varying lengths." This review is for stylist Mandy. I came in yesterday for a deep condition and blow out from Mandy. I had such a great experience! I felt pampered from start to finish and I left with my hair feeling amaaazing. We started by shampooing and applying the deep condition. We let it sit for about 20/30min and from there we did the styling. She knew which products to use on me and I ended up leaving with the thickening spray from bumble and bumble. It worked sooo well. I wish I could get my hair to look like this on a daily basis.. I've actually visited Mandy before at a different location, and believe me I would follow her to the moon and back. I love her work! I would give this place 0 stars if I could. I booked just an updo. The lady who took me in (never found out what her name was) didn't greet me kindly or bother to make conversation with me. I asked for curls and a poof and then she proceeded to do what she interpreted it as rather than asking for my opinion on it (ex: how far forward I wanted the poof). The poof ended up extremely sloppy and started coming out immediately once I got home from the salon. She also did not even hairspray the curls, but told me that they should hold for the next 12 hours. After 1 hour they were gone and my sister had to recurl my hair. I then got rung up for $75. $75 for curls that didn't last even an hour and a trashy poof. She also didn't mention to me earlier that she didn't accept card so I had to walk all the way to the bank to get cash. The prices are well above what their services are worth and I do not recommend this place at all. read more
