We decided to try something different this weekend - African cuisine. Our original plans were for the African Village. But strangely enough, it closed at 6pm on a Saturday. So to Trices we went! Their menu consists of dishes from Ghana, Camaroon, and Ethiopia. A very sweet server came over to help us and made some food recommendations. We tried the pepper soup with goat, coconut rice with chicken and plantains, and some sort of melon "soup" with fish and steamed yam ball. Everything was fresh, hot, and came out timely. The flavors were super-unique and some of them would be considered an acquired taste for sure. We love discovering new cultures through their food, and glad to have experienced Trices. If you're an adventurous type - this is the place to try! *They also have a full bar next door where you can order a drink to go with your meal if you wish to do so. They also have pool/ping pong tables in the back, and I do believe there is a DJ later on.

Came for brunch and beats that The Urban Suite and Club Envy PlusSize Parties host and it was such a blast! The food was absolutely amazing the waffle fluffy and delicious whilst the chicken was crispy and juicy all and all super delicious! The service was fast and quick with my boozy coffee making its way to me with the quickness all and all definitely recommend and will be back!

Update 11/16/2023: I had the pleasure of the dining here again tonight. The food tastes even better than the last few times and the customer service is still excellent. The young man who was working today around 6 PM is such a sweet guy, respectful, and very cute too. Lol. Thanks again again for another wonderful evening.

I've been ordering from this place thru UberEats for over a year. I love everything I've had. On this day, my boyfriend made and froze me some egusi soup to bring home. I decided to thaw and eat some but I had no swallow. Pounded yam is my favorite swallow and of course, I'm not the Nigerian in the relationship, and I haven't made it before, so I decided to stop by Trice's on the way home to pick some up. The place was completely empty so I grabbed a couple pics while I waited. The young lady was very polite and service was quick. It was hard not to leave without Jollof rice (which I usually get with fish). I really love the fish and I usually get an extra order of fish. The Nigerian Jollof is good and not spicy (much to their dismay, I'm sure) but I can't take the heat honestly (thankfully he made the egusi with me in mind). It is a lounge so the ambiance was kind of dark and intimate. I think the vibe is more intimate later in the evening. I like this place. I love that you can get Nigerian, Ghanaian, and Cameroonian dishes here. The food is always fresh and tasty. I'll always be back.

LIES LIES LIES I repeatedly asked if the vegetable soup has meat in it. They ensured me there was no meat in the vegetable soup. Definitely meat in the Vegetable soup. The Fufu was made from a box.

Trices cafe specializes in African cuisine, specifically west African - Ghana, Nigeria, & Cameroon. There is ample parking at this establishment. Once you enter the restaurant you can sit anywhere you'd like. On the right side there is a tv with a small stage and bar area. On the left there's plenty of tables/booths. The service was great from start to finish and the guy offered recommendations and regularly checked on me throughout service. The atmosphere/vibes were really chill. I ordered a meat pie with a side of plantains. The dough on the meat pie was awesome and the protein was flavorful. The plantains were mid. Great consistency/texture but not much flavor. They do customize spice level for your preference depending on if you prefer very spicy food or not. I also ordered the Zaza and it was quite refreshing during dinner. There are some items I was intrigued by and would like to try. The only issue I had with this place is that it's a bit pricey for some items. $20 for tilapia soup is kinda pricey to me but they may have a lot of overhead costs but I don't know. Peace.

We wanted to go to the African Festival but it hadn't quite got goi by when we got there. We were eager to have some African dishes from local shops, so we headed down the road to Trices. The irony was that they were busy loading up food to take to their stand at the festival. I ordered the Efo Riro with beef. The food was made to ordered so we waited long than most restaurant; we were happy to wait. I found the dish to be hearty and quite tasty. It was full of savory flavors with out being overwhelming. Our host was attentive and made sure we had everything we need. They also have a back room with a billiards table as will as a set up for music for the later evening.

This African gems is in Echkert road. The place is clean and you are welcome with a vibe of Nigerian music. I choose efo riro with goat meat, to go with Fufu. Let me tell you my bag was heavy. The fufu il well done, I had a lot of meat, goat skin, a good flavor well seasoning. One word DELICIOUS

Never heard of Trices until my sister asked me to join her for dinner. Located in Leon Valley, Trices is where one can experience African cuisine and they also offer a hookah bar. I had the grilled tilapia with fried plantains. The menu states to allow 30 minutes for proper grilling and that it is worth it. They were not lying, perhaps the best grilled fish I've ever had. The meat melts right off the bones and it is perfectly seasoned. Paired with the plantains this dish was amazing. My sister had the Egusi and fufu.

The way it was fried and seasoned is a must try! I loved the fresh made dough of the meat pie too. The fufu dish is pact full of flavor and the fufu, made of yams, was soft and pliable while staying intact complements the Egusi soup with beef. The beef was tender, full of spices that do not compare to other cuisines, fun to eat with the fufu, and served in large portions. I tried the jollof rice and it has a Smokey flavor and with spices (none of the food was spicy). I even tried the chicken rice and I loved it. Both rice have good bite to each grain. The service was fast for having one amazing chef who I was honored to meet. He kindly came to check on his customer's dining experience. I definitely will come back and can't wait to try the peppered goat soup. I took the remaining food home and I can't stop thinking of their fufu either. The ambiance is great to invite more people to the table for a fun little fufu party.

We decided to try it a couple weeks ago, but he got sick on his only day off. Bummer for him. Anyway, we went there this week to try it out. It was late Monday afternoon, and we were the only people there. The lady who took our order was very helpful, I think she thought we were a little lost, which we might've been. I had already looked at the menu at home and decided that I was gonna have the goat pepper soup. Unfortunately, they were out of it. Instead, I went ahead and got the isi ewu that my son was going to get. We also got an order of the chicken gizzards as an appetizer. They were really delicious and cooked to perfection in a spicy sauce with pieces of red pepper, green pepper, and onion. While we were eating the gizzards, the server brought us a plate with two puff puffs on it. They were scolding hot. I don't really know how to explain them other than to say they were fried bread balls. The bread was on the sweet side and they were really delicious. When the isi ewu came, it was a bowl full of goat stew. The meat was cooked to the tenderness of a pot roast. It was very rich and greasy. There was an herb used that was unlike anything I had ever tasted. I both liked it and disliked it at the same time. Don't ask me what I mean by that. Overall, the dish was absolutely delicious. We will definitely be back so that I can try the goat pepper soup. We both like t jollof rice, too, so we may get a serving of that to split with whatever else we try. If you haven't had African food, you need to get out there and try it. This is the perfect place to do it. The server was so helpful. We felt like we were in a safe zone. Sometimes, when the food is so foreign to us, we don't even know how to order or eat it. No worries here.
