AfroTex on Babcock Road is officially the new spot in town to try. The food was absolutely delicious and packed with amazing African flavors. The hubs and I tried the Chicken Bowl and the Steak Suya Plate, and both were incredible. The meat was soft, tender, and full of flavor. The jollof rice was perfectly seasoned, and the plantains, corn, and sweet peppers tied everything together beautifully. Every bite was delicious and felt like food for my soul. Our hostess was also wonderful and helped us order from the computer menu. I appreciated that she took the time to make sure my sauces were placed on the side due to my ulcers and sensitivity to spicy food and she swapped me to ranch :) That level of care and customer service really was appreciated :) The food came out fast, portions were generous, the price for the bowl was around $15 and the plate $25 and overall it was such a great experience. I truly hope they never change a thing in the future. Too many restaurants start off strong and later begin cutting portions, changing ingredients, or raising prices while lowering quality. AfroTex feels special, and I can't wait to come back again soon and try the salmon! It's such a vibe and I felt like the Motherland was calling me home ! Highly recommended

NEW HALAL AFRO-TEX FUSION IN SATX This place really knows flavor! After rebranding from Suya Mix Bistro, they officially opened their brick and mortar near UTSA just last month. The hype is real for this spot!! Also, their entire restaurant uses 100% CERTIFIED HALAL meat! Afro-Tex Grill combines the best of both worlds- uniquely combining West African street food with Tex-Mex favorites - to create something extraordinary that San Antonio has never seen before. They serve fresh rice bowls, flame-grilled meats, burritos, and more that will give your tastebuds an experience like no other. This is a fast-casual restaurant, meaning it's perfect if you're in a rush, or if you have time to sit down for a bit. Order at the counter, and get your stuff fast! You know you're in for a high quality experience! I absolutely loved everything at AfroTex Grill . The food is such a unique find for the San Antonio area!

Bowls were sooooo delicious. The food was full of flavor and very filling. They did not skimp on anything. My husband and I both had the chicken bowls. The spice was just right and the ambiance was an a plus. It was crowded and the service was great. We had called in the order because we knew with something so good, it had to be packed! I hope it never goes away. Please support local businesses like this. It has high quality for the prices. Thank you afro tex for bringing something so innovative. We loved it!

Omg as soon as I walked in the door it smelled so good. The service was kind and provided great recommendations. I had the salmon bowl and my son had the steak bowl. It was delicious I do wish there was more salmon in my bowl but I'm def gonna go back.

Flavorful, filling and delicious. Love the spice, and savoriness of the steak, with the sweetness of the plantain. I will be back.

    Chicken jollof rice bowl

Chicken rice bowl was great, the staff was super friendly and welcoming, the red pepper sauce had a great slow building spice and a great flavor. Definitely will be returning !

Great food and loved getting to see scripture on the walls and hear gospel music in the background. The waitress pointed me to vitamalt as a specialty drink and it was just like Goya Malta. Such a lovely as delicious treat to have my favorite soup ever... Groundnut soup, peanut soup,…read morepeanut butter soup, what ever you call it, at Trices, it's called DELICIOUS!!! I called in advance to eat in house, which I find to be common at most African restaurants, as the food takes a bit longer to prepare. I arrived, washed my hands and returned to my food PIPING HOT on the table! Now that's what I call good service! When I tell you the truth, I tell you no lie! Trices can have all my money! The soup was so good I wanted to lick the bowl! Smooth, creamy, nutty, spicy, rich, everything you want in a good groundnut! And the chicken was fried to perfection! The consistency was just right, not too soft, not too hard, didn't taste look like hen, but it might have been. Two glasses of red wine, and my full plate later and I felt as if I needed to nap! Love this place, will def return on my next trip to San Antonio! Also there was a family sitting behind me, I believe they were Nigerian because the husband was saying how Sweet Sweet his food was, and the wife and kids all raved as well! So it wasn't just me, everyone was happy oooo!
