We've been twice now. The first time was about 2 years ago when they were still new. We ordered a basic latte with soy milk. We were underwhelmed with the flavor and disappointed with the high price. We like a strong coffee flavor without it being burnt. Their flavor was just weak. It was crowded and we did not like the environment. It's small and has a strong Portland vibe. (Read as 'Hipster') I don't necessarily have a problem with the hipster culture and style, it is just not us. After looking over our coffee options in Corvallis, we decided to try them again out of desperation. Starbucks is great if you like burnt coffee flavor or sugar flavor. Coffee Culture has watered down espresso and the vibe at Dutch Bros is not appropriate for easing into your morning. And just check the reviews for Allen Brothers Beanery. Dirty and inconsistent. Pass. If I'm in Albany I'll go to Human Bean or Imagine Coffee if we're in Philomath. Our experience this morning was much better. We ordered coconut milk lattes this time. $9.50 for 2 larges. The coffee was balanced and rich and had a subtle flavor I hadn't experienced in a coffee before. The temperature was just right. They are still a bit pricey but not outrageous. BLUF- fresh crafted beans, good service, great shot. When I stop at a boutique coffee place for a shot of espresso most of the time I'm disappointed, not so here. I always ask the same questions: What beans are you brewing, when were they roasted, what roast darkness, etc. Mostly I don't get past the first question. Today the barista knew all about everything. I had a shot of single origin Guatemalan, and a latte blend. The Guatemalan was bright, fruity and medium bodied goodness. The latte was also excellent, well crafted and the blended shot was smooth. The coffee is good quality and the coffee art is impressive. This place tends to be spendy, but it's a good place to go if you want to sip a cup of gormet coffee. I disliked this location because it is SO. SMALL. It felt incredibly crowded. I don't think this an ideal location for how many people visit. Coffee is good, breakfast sandwhiches are pretty good:) their decor and overall design is very trendy and stylish.. the only gripe I would give is that due to the Covid-19 pandemic, they now ask you if you want to give them a tip.. which makes me always feel awkward.... personally, I only like to give tips when I'm actually with a server.. so I always feel pressured and awkward when they ask me.. Baristas pour amazing lattes and cortados. Really nice interior design. The location is small, but I usually find a spot to chill for a while no problem. I spent many days here and enjoyed the wonderful coffee that they brew. Baristas are very nice and put effort into their work; this is evident from the first sip. The rating is not about the coffee which was average but about management! We went there the day of the eclipse. You get the idea. LOTS OF PEOPLE!!! Cozy Coffee shop in Corvallis downtown with selective menu, third wave coffee with blend and other single origins. Tried a cortado with their blend which was Ethiopian and columbian mix. It was made on point and interesting profile with fruity, slightly sweet and balanced profile. I would not compare with Coava Cortado because it would not be fair. They exclusively use Bespoken roasters, it could become my next go to coffee shop in town. Prices are comparable to artisan coffee shop. This place is a slice of Portland in Corvallis, in the best sense of the comparison. Cortados are excellent, they typically have a great selection of baked goods from another local shop, and the baristas have been warm and welcoming every time we've been here. They sell their own coffee beans (Bespoken coffee roasters) and Steven Smith teas as well. This is a pretty small shop, so seating is sometimes tight. If that's the case, just get it to go and enjoy wandering around downtown or along the Willamette. read more
