Trifecta has been struggling to deliver food for the past few weeks and what used to be a single day delay has now turned into not receiving your food until the Thursday after the Friday you were meant to get it. It's a shame as I enjoy the meals, but delivery delays meaning you don't get your food for an entire week really puts a damper on things. Edit - 1/2/2021. The positive: I absolutely love the concept and the resources you get with it. And it really is incredibly convenient. The negative: Unfortunately, the food isn't that great and sits in your bowels like a brick. Each meal stays with you for the rest of the day (sort of like Chipotle with less shame). I usually spend the next four hours dehydrated and trying to find a snack that'll get rid of the taste. Then there's the cancellation. I received my order on Saturday, cancelled on Monday and they're making me pay for one more round (the week after this week). It feels a little sleazy like 'if you're gonna cancel, we'll at least get one more payment out of you'. Considering it won't be shipped until end of week and I cancelled because I didn't like it, that's a bold move, IMO. read more

Although some of the meals can be repetitive, especially if you're sticking to a specific (Paleo) diet, Trifecta's solutions have been incredibly convenient when it comes to sticking to my diet and losing weight. I've been consistently eating these meals for the last two months and have seen incredible results. The food tastes great - some meals better than others - but orders tend to have duplicate recipes. I came to Trifecta through Renaissance Periodization; and Trifecta has definitely helped me stick to my macro meal plan. I'm not a professional athlete, so: 1) I don't weigh my Trifecta meals 2) I'm okay if my macros are within 10% of their stated amount Instead, I try to look at the entire process in the larger context: 1) I work out many times per week, and I work out extremely heavy with compound exercises. Trifecta meals have kept my macros in check, allowing me to increase both my volume and frequency while gaining muscle and losing fat. 2) I'm not expecting Michelin-star quality food: This is food that has been pre-cooked, vacuum-packed, shipped thousands of miles to me, and that tries to meet my extraordinarily narrow (and complex) nutrional goals. Keeping all of that in mind, it tastes fine. Better than fine, actually. Yes, they repeat meals, but I do find good surprises each delivery and, let's face it, if I were cooking my own food I would repeat meals MUCH more often than they do. 3) I chose a more expensive meal plan (clean meal plan) so that I have meals that are higher in calories. I also chose 14 meals per week - quite a lot, but worth it so far. I may sometimes adjust the total meal amount. But, let's be honest, I have 14 meals - that I have NOT had to prep or think about at all and can instead think of my training and other goals - in my refrigerator ready for me to eat. This lets me focus on my strategy of having consistent, readily available, nutritional food that moves me toward my aesthetic and physiological goals. And, over the years, I've found consistency is key. No company is perfect. I'm sure they will continue to have bumps in the road and make errors. But we're talking about a company that is trying to nationally deliver pre-made organic food with exceptional macro quality to a wide audience. I assume, and I hope I'm correct, that if I discover soggy vegetables, which I sometimes do, then they are discovering those problems as well. Or if I'm wondering if the meat can have more flavor, then they are wondering that, as well. And it seems like the type of company that will try to come up with solutions to those periodic problems. But while they straigthen out the company kinks, I'll be patient. I'm just glad I have to do ZERO WORK (except throwing away all those ice packs!!!) for my well-balanced food. read more

Beyond pleased with Trifecta!! I saw ads on Instagram for Trifecta at first and started middle of March. Have been doing the keto plan, 2 meals a day for 7 days a week for almost 2 months now and all in I have lost 20 pounds. I feel great and I truly believe that Trifecta keeps me on track. Update 6; 30 Sept 2019 Trifecta has been trying hard to meet their stated weight and because they know this is an issue (for at least myself) for the last 4 shipments they had added at no extra cost 16 oz of chicken breasts. That says something, most of my meals are coming in at correct weight or just a little over and then with the added 16 oz of chicken breast each meal would be correct. Have to give them props. Now on to the meals themselves. They do seem they have gone down in taste and appeal. I cannot even eat any of their pasta dishes because they are just mush (yuck). Some of the dishes are good but most I just have tell myself to eat all because my body needs the calories. We have switched for this coming shipment from the clean to the keto. I will update on the weight and flavor of these meals. I feel their clean meals could use some more flavor profiles and a little more richness and depth. I should want to eat them rather than forcing myself to eat them. Update 5; 26 Aug 2019 Trifecta called me and again apologized the mess ups in kitchen. They are working hard on training new QC staff and I must say their customer service team is amazing. Still cold and all good until I go to weigh them.... out the 10 meals all were underweight and most of them were grossly underweight almost 100 grams. So sad. I was hoping their would get their kitchen under control. Update 3; 20 Aug 2019 Got new shipment last Friday and weighed them out of 10 Meals 2 were grossly underweight and one was borderline but included the weight of tray which means meals was underweight. Contacted them with photos and weight and had a respond (it did take 3 days to get a response) but they credited the meals back on my card and promised to strive to do better. I will check back in this weekend when the next shipment comes Update; They called me the day after I posted my photos and complaints. They were awesome with taking on all the blame. They apologized for the mess ups, I didnt even have to ask for anything. They refunded my two weeks of food and gave me a credit and asked that I send photos of the labels and actual weight (10 out of the 14 meals were grossly underweight). They promised to educate the kitchen and fix the problem. They are growing fast and have moved into a larger kitchen. I understand growing pains. I was very impressed with their customer service. I have tried practically every meal delivery service and out there and I feel like I have finally found my favorite! I have several dietary restrictions including gluten and dairy free and have found that with other services it is hard to find both options in one meal or they just want to load you up on a bunch of carbs like rice and potatoes but I like that Trifecta really gives you healthy options. And they have "plans" to choose from based on the most popular options like keto, paleo, etc. I am able to mix and match my options and get what I want, which is a healthy protein and lots of veggies. The serving sizes are perfect, not too big and not too small. I also love their customer service, got to speak with Tucker today and he was so patient as I needed some help navigating their online system. I've been enjoying Trifecta meals and a la carte items for a few years now, I guess since around their start. I've been commuting to work and have a highly physical job and long hours, so I needed prepped meals but had very little time & storage for groceries, especially where I've stayed while commuting. Since I've continued to use Trifecta so long I can tell you their food quality and customer experience, while it's always been 5 star, has continued to improve a lot, and while they've had some growing pains (as any business will), have done absolutely everything to make sure I'm happy and satisfied. Some examples: 1. They don't mind that I change my options like I change my clothes. 2. I have very special high maintenance delivery needs, in terms of timing which Friday's and they take care of it. 3. I figured out that I digest fish & chicken a lot easier but don't like tuna so they even made sure I don't get tuna meals even though that isn't a standard option. 4. If I've ever had a late delivery or wrong items sent they never have an attitude or make excuses, always apologize and refund my money. 5. They are solution oriented- I wanted to get 2 lbs of salmon but didn't want the 2lb package since I tend not to eat it quickly enough and want to keep it fresh longer so they started sending me (2) 1 lb packages instead. In terms of taste and texture, they stay creative and update recipes as they get feedback as well as making new options throughout the year. I recommend reheating the food on the stove top or in the oven with pots and pans or if you want a crisp texture. However, since I've kept the meals with me at work I've been happy with the microwaved results. Sometimes I'll add some fresh herbs or spices if I'm using the a la carte items- which I also enjoy turning into more luxurious meals if I have some time. Made awesome salmon chowder, chicken fajitas, taco meat from grounding up the steak and adding spices and tomato, for example. It's just so great having it prepped and ready to use as an ingredient or eat on its own. I'd highly recommend trying them out, and really experimenting with all their options to see what you like best. read more

My meals from Trifecta are $10.71 a piece. S&H is covered. Here's why I decided to use them. 1. My route to prepare for meal preparation consist of going to Costco, Wholefoods and sometimes Trader Joe's. That takes me at least 3 hours usually. 2. The meal prep itself becomes drudgery at some point once you've done it long enough. My meal prep usually takes 2-3 hours with food prep, cooking, baking, packaging and clean up. 3. Sometimes I'm bad at letting my food spoil. Lots of my healthy organic food goes down the garbage disposal. 4. The time involved dealing with healthy meal prep takes me away from properly balancing my life. I believe the triangle approach to health is the best way broken down into 3 subcategories of 1/3rd's A. Eating healthy non gmo foods 5-6 meals per day. So convince with meal prep delivery service helps me to stay on track. B. Proper fitness for me is going to CrossFit Terminus 5-6 days per week. Also, choosing to free weight train, sprints or other outdoor activities throughout the week. C. Getting great sleep uninterrupted 7-8 hours per night. My room had curtains and I try to hit the hay around 11:30pm so I can wake up at 7:45am for CrossFit. I have a roommate and I live on a busy street so I wear earplugs and also have curtains to keep the room dark. REM is the most important of the 4 sleep cycles and most people never hit that. 5. There are other great meal delivery services out there but.... Trifecta doesn't have the super high sodium content. The American Diabetes Association recommends an ideal consumption of 1,500mg DAILY of sodium. 6. Trifecta meals are very delicious and never bland. I try to never microwave them because microwaves kill all the nutrients from the research I've done. I simply put them in the fridge the night before and then heat them up in a skillet with coconut oil. So good! read more

I had to throw the rest of the meals away after trying 2 meals and felt sick to my stomach. These meals are NOT worth $15 each. They were mushy, soggy, and tasted horrible. They don't even look appetizing. And my second box has already been taken out of my account. There is no trial period. I'm disappointed that I cannot cancel online. I read the reviews about how difficult it is to cancel. I will be calling tomorrow to cancel my subscription and I will NOT put up with any crap! This service is simple to use and delivers high quality food. I have used them for over a month and am satisfied that I am getting my money's worth. I get the paleo meal play and while it is good it is definitely as advertised, meaning if you don't want to eat LOTS of asparagus, artichoke and Broccoli throughout most of your meals then be prepared to tough it out as you get used to those food. I am currently considering going over to their À la carte service so that I can have more specific proteins and sides but will have to sacrifice some convenience for this. I love the idea. I'm a high carb vegan. I thought their vegan selection was going to be awesome, however it was not. They prepare all of their vegan dishes with OIL. OIL is not a health food. Not sure why they chose to do this. Even in their classic meal plan, which include meat, they refrain from using oil there. So obviously they know that adding OIL is unacceptable for anyone who's trying to build lean gains. I asked if they could prepare my dishes without oil and they said they could not. They recommended I order A La Carte which I have been doing. Those items are not prepared with oil. I've found a pretty good set up where I order one selection of sweet potatoes, and two selections of mixed veggies, I store that in a tuppowear and consume that throughout the week. You must flavor it yourself, salt, seasoning, ketchup. If they ever start serving oil free vegan meals, then and only then, will they have my fifth star. read more

I was concerned when I saw all the negative reviews after I placed my first order, but it turned out I shouldn't have been. I have now done a couple weeks of the classic meal plan because I'm just too picky for any of the others -- I LOVE the simplicity. I take a different sauce/seasoning to work for my meals each day and it really livens them up -- they do NEED the extra seasoning, but that works for me. The basa meal was way too watery and the steak is a bit tough to try to cut with the plastic utensils I pack for work, so I've adjusted my future orders accordingly and now look forward to my meals each day -- I love how effortless this is. I don't finish a meal hungry and I feel like my daily workouts are improving, though I haven't seen that reflected in the scale/measuring tape quite yet. Highly recommend for a lazy cook, picky eater, or someone looking to simplify meal prep while keeping some semblance of a well balanced diet. read more

Heads up, I'm writing a review before I even try my food. I received my 1st order yesterday. When I opened the box to get everything into my fridge, I was disappointment because the ice packs were melted and the food was all at room temperature. I contracted food poisoning once, in a hotel in Long Beach, CA and since then choose to err on the cautious side. I'm struggling as to whether or not I should throw my entire 1st delivery away, or risk eating food that was at room temperature for an unknown period of time? read more

Update- After complaining about getting sick from one of the meals, I received a refund of about half the order (their policy says satisfaction guaranteed up to 7 meals only), and I filed a food safety report. While I appreciate the discount, the fact remains that the food is terrible. We've tried many other services including Factor, Mighty Meals (our favorite), Sakara Life, Thistle, and Territory, and Trifecta was by far our least favorite. My husband is a meat eater, and I am a vegetarian. You cannot mix the two meal plans and you have to buy two separate ones, unlike other services. The food was gray and tasteless, the tofu was spongy, you cannot select the meals you would like (my husband received mostly shrimp dishes, which was weird), and we threw most of them out. read more

I signed up for the Vegan version of these meals due to a busy lifestyle and wanting more assistance with consistent macro counting. I signed up for 2 meals a day. This is relative to me so these are my pro's and con's. Pro's: * Delivery was consistent * Ability to alter meal plan, understanding cut-off times * I personally did not have a problem with my cancellation process and offered feedback (only to receive an email from someone else weeks later wanting to know why I had cancelled - a gap there for them) Con's: * Macro count was way off for me and it turned out I did better on my own. * My first delivery was like 3 and 4 of the same meals (for one week, 2 meals a day) so little to no variety. Not a good first impression. Subsequent shipment better but not inspiring or exciting for me and still triplicates of same items. * I LOVE fresh fruits, veggies among my daily meals, esp lunch. I prefer less - no oil and clean. Every Trifecta meal has to be cooked up and tastes greasy. I do not use a microwave, so it was a hassle to pan/oven cook and honestly I don't want two hot meals a day. Especially once summer gets here. No thanks! SO this just wasn't my bag. * The taste of most meals was meh to gross. I enjoy eating and so this was just something I came to 'not look forward to'. Again- personal preference. It felt like someone who is NOT vegan and doesn't know their way around spices crafted these. Just odd tasting. *The nutritional info gave me pause. It has serving size and calories per serving but not how many servings per container (at least not on the ones I received). My last Trifecta meal last night was 101 grams over the serving size. Luckily I calorie count and caught this early on. * My environmental side died a little bit every delivery. It's just a lot of waste and a lot of work to deal with the packing and emptying of freezer packs. I felt guilty for sure. Esp if I am eating locally, fresh, and doing better macro wise. It seemed this whole thing was just not for me. I still have meals I stuck in the freezer cause I just could not even! deal with one more. They will be going in the trash. Meals are practically the exact same flavor just with a different name. I had to add sriracha to every meal. My man straight refuses to eat any more of them leaving me with the rest bc I hate to waste. He didn't even want to try another meal delivery ever he said it was so bad. I just ordered meals from freshly, thistle and Sunbasket. I don't care about the price of the food sucks so I'm trying them all and deciding. Ask me a year ago and I would have given 5 stars. But things have really started to go downhill regarding the quality of the meats. My staple order has included venison, which used to be lean and tender EVERY time. This is now my 3rd or 4th order of totally inedible venison, chewy and full of fat. The turkey burgers used to be delicious, and now they're spongy and tasteless. The salmon is overcooked more often than not. I used to LOVE my meals, but am finding myself skipping weeks more and more often due to crappy quality in their proteins. I'm spending a lot of money on the convenience not to cook, so I expect decent quality, but Trifecta has just been going downhill. The only bonus is that their customer service has been good. They refunded me on my first order of inedible venison. But when I continue to get less-than-optimal quality, I can't imagine this being worth the price anymore. read more
