I have been a regular customer at trim for two years- ever since I moved to Chicago. And you know when you move cities, it's hard to find an esthetician who does a perfect job. Well, a lot of the ladies here are fabulous, and the customer service is great. I highly recommend Iowana, she did a truly exceptional job. I went in today for a Brazillian as I am leaving for Mexico. I made an appointment on Thursday. My normal Trim esthetician was no longer there so I went with "whoever". I was not nervous, because Trim always does an awesome job without too much pain. I refuse to go anywhere else. They are extremely sanitary- no double dip service here! Iowana was beyond meticulous. And, she was very quick. She missed nothing. She asked me every time she had finished an area, if it felt smooth in the opposite way of where the follicle grew, in case she had missed something. She would not finish until I was completely satisfied. A lot of waxers are afraid to get their hands on things when doing the bikini area, and she didn't hesitate, but was extremely respectful. She constantly asked if I was comfortable, if the temperature was okay, etc. I listened to her talk about the process the entire time I was getting waxed- in great and interesting detail. It was awesome. She even talked about her family at home in Poland. It was such a pleasant experience. It was $55 for the Brazilian service. Industry standard. They are very clean and hygienic; NO DOUBLE DIPPING! In regards to offering products, to me they don't seem to go over board to me. Careless. I came here for a bikini wax. Although the space was clean and the waxer friendly, she did an awful job. She worked quickly, and basically broke off all the hairs rather than pulling them out by the root. I had to spend a lot of time tweezing at home afterwards. So you says to your self, "Self, you're going on a week-long beach vacation with the love of your life. Maybe you should give your fella a little surprise and not have to worry about pubes pokin out of your bikini." Nervously, I consulted my friends, the internet, and even yelp. Would it hurt? What shapes should I get? Would there be issues after? I found Trim on yelp and made my appointment. I told them I was a first-timer and they assured me that they'd set me up with someone who was great. They did not disapoint. Beth is fantastic. She kept talking the entire time, distracting me. It seriously didn't hurt as much as I thought it would. Either because I took a tylenol and antacid 30 minutes before, as recommended, or because Beth works super fast and with such precision. I never once became self-conscious that a stranger was touching my vag. That's mainly due to her professionalism and because we had such a great conversation- it kept my mind off of things. My first Chicago Brazilian! At $55 for a Brazilian and a package Brazilian + Eyebrow Shaping for $70, this place is neither cheap nor ridiculously expensive. Would I like to pay less? Of course ... Do I walk out of the door bitching? No ... I'm too busy strutting my stuff. They do a great job here. Probably one of the most meticulous Brazilians I've ever had. All soft wax though so ... expect some pain. Brazilian was great ... eyebrows were ... eh. I mean, I get my eyebrows threaded up on Devon most of the time and I didn't really notice much of a difference besides the price ($15 v. $5). Overall, great experience. Will return. "I'm scared... I know I shouldn't be, but I am.... You're really good right?" I am reviewing on behalf of two visits. The first visit was absolutely great! 5 stars for Steph who did such a great job on my brazilian! She was very careful, took good care of cooling my sensitive lady parts, and really helped me to relax. & then there was the recent 2 star brazilian with Steph. I feel like I was used as a guinea pig with this blue hard wax she used. This experience was so painful I could not stop shaking for the life of me! I had to take breaks because of the pain. It seems like this blue wax is harder to grab and rip off so it seemed like she was struggling with it a bit. It was extremely hot and I ended up developing a small burn on my mons pubis when I checked myself out later. I literally laid there wondering if I should quit half way through or if I should make it my absolute last brazilian ever. She occasionally used the strip wax and it was just as pleasant as the other times I had my brazilian done, but when the blue wax came out I was seeing stars with every rip. I asked if she could stick to the strips but she said its not working as well, but in the end I left with stray hairs, a funky walk, and a va-jay jay that looked completely razor burned, whereas the first time when we used the strip wax I left totally hairless, painfree, and as smooth as the day I was born. DID ANYONE ELSE HAVE TO DEAL WITH THIS SCORCHING BLUE WAX OF DEATH AS WELL OR WAS I SERIOUSLY A GUINEA PIG!!!!!!! read more

Going to a new waxing place is such a scary thing. I don't think I could do it without a glass of wine, and there have been times when I definitely wish I'd gone ahead and had a second. But after going to Trim for my very first bikini wax (hey, a girl can only put up with shaving for so long) I'm relieved to have found a place I can stick with. The details: cute little waxing-only salon, private rooms that look and smell nice and have convenient sliding doors. Friendly staff, and Amber, who was my technician, was very friendly and easy to talk to. They actually accept tips added to your card (one of the only places I know of that does) but I figure it's always nicer to tip in cash, anyway. I loved the level of friendliness and skill here, and will definitely be coming back. read more

I recently went to Trim to get my eyebrows waxed. I have to say, I'm underwhelmed. I saw Daina and she was friendly enough but it seemed sort of forced. I don't need to have someone talking my ear off but she was pretty distracted when she did my eyebrows--at one point even leaving me in the chair to attend to something at the front desk. I'm new to the city and was hoping Trim would be my regular waxing place, but I'm not impressed enough to come back again. Also, she missed a couple of spots--especially between the brows--which I had to clean up when I got home (didn't notice when I was there otherwise I would've said something, but I also felt pretty rushed to get out of the chair and out the door). I tried this place twice since it's close but have been disappointed each time. Upon arrival I was treated like a burden each time and greeted with an unpleasant "take a seat." I have been getting Brazilians for years this was by far the most painful and even with a modified bikini it was not a quick process. Each time I went home to find that I had huge patches of hair left and I was burned from the wax. They're snooty and overpriced. Just not worth the convenience of being close by. read more

Best place for a Brazilian! All the estheticians are so nice and always make everyone feel comfortable during your service. Bucktown location is always clean and music is great as well. There is even a hidden gem in the back of Trim. A Spa named Reishi, that has a beautiful and peaceful decor. Ewelina which does all the facials is absolutely marvelous at her craft. They have the best products for face and after wax care as well. All the staff are always happy to see thier clients, and make a wax such an amazing experience.I recommend Trim for any of your waxing needs. All the estheticians there are Great! I usually get my eyebrows waxed at the benefit brow bar near evanston, but I was going to be in the area and decided to get my eyebrows done at trim. I called the morning of and easily got an appointment at 4:45pm on a Monday. When I arrived, the receptionist had me fill out a form and all that good stuff. Then I met Lynn who did my eyebrows for me. She was very professional, very sweet and made me feel at ease. It was probably the fastest wax of my life. In regards to the shape of my eyebrow, Lynn gave me exactly what I wanted which was just to preserve my natural shape and thickness since I'm not too blessed in the eyebrow department. The only thing that I didn't like was this wax was rougher on my skin than usual. I usually get red skin and these mosquito bite looking white bumps, but it's bearable and goes away pretty fast. I don't know if it was the wax or the technique, but I definitely had more bumps than usual and although the wax was fast, it was more painful than usual. My eyes even teared up! I would probably not travel out here to get my brows done again, but I may stop by if I'm in the area. All in all, it was pretty standard at the 20$ price point and I'll probably continue looking for a cheaper place! read more

Ewelina was wonderful and I love how they have soft and hard wax. She was so kind and talked me through the whole process and it was painless for me, she is great at what she does. I have to preface this review with a little non-related story. There was an episode of Friends (here, is where you can start laughing at me) where Joey tried to get his eyebrows done. He couldn't take the pain and left with one eye brow fixed and the other one not. Chandler commented that the brows looked like a little catepillar chasing a mommy catepillar. No? Don't recall this episode? Okay... *turning bright red* Well, my purpose in mentioning this is that I worry about trying new people/places when it comes to waxing...brows, that is. Sharon and Lilliana have been great about making sure everything looks even, shaped and clean. They will also fill in eyebrows aftewards. Being a recent transplant to Chicago, a co-worker referred me to Trim and I've been seeing Sharren ever since. Aside from doing a great waxing job, she has the best personality ever. The place itself is very clean and parking isn't a headache (also near blue line). Sharren is the only person I will let touch my eyebrows in the Chicago land area. She is professional, efficient and talented. My eyebrows look shaped and elegant each time. What can I say about this place but that Patty is such an asset. I've been going there for 3 years now! She's flexible with my schedule and gentle when it comes to my Brazilian. She also shapes my eyebrows just right! Always telling me what products to help my skin and things to try to help moisture my skin in our Chicago winters. I went in the other day as my brows needed a quick wax before a date, you know, cuz a girls got to keep up on her things. Anyway, I was blown away by the cost: $25 for a wax. I didn't need a full shaping, since I had just got them done 2 weeks ago(what can I say? I'm Portuguese) but i PAID for a full shaping. and they didn't even ask me what I wanted, just went ahead and did the whole kit and caboodle, which only took 10 minutes. Elizabeth was great and while my brows looked great, AND I didn't break out afterwards from the products or oil(she used witch hazel-smart girl), I can not go back for the tune of $25 bucks. I guess you can say I'm doing my own little "experiment" on Brazilian bikini waxes. I'm trying out a few different places before I settle on a permanent salon. Since being scared off of the bikini waxes a few years ago, I'm slowly warming up to the idea of finding pleasure in pain. Shout out to all of the masochists out there!! On a scale from 1-10, I would rate my pain experience at Trim at a 1. Stephanie did a good job at keeping me distracted. We chatted quite a bit during the procedure. She was very knowledgeable about the different types of wax I asked about and was able to explain why one would be used over the other. I like the fact that I received a phone call the day before, confirming the appointment. The location was easy to find and I found street parking right in front of the business. I walked in to a warm, friendly greeting and a well lit, open layout. Stephanie led me to the last room, and allowed me time to get undressed. She was very attentive throughout, asking if the temperature of the wax was ok and if I was in any pain. I have no reason to not settle on Trim being "it" for me. read more

I have gone here twice based on all of the positive reviews and left here twice totally perplexed. These were, by far, the two most slow and painful waxing jobs I have ever had in my life and the end result was not too pretty (with two different technicians). It's worth it to fork over a little extra money and go to Bliss, which seems to be the best waxing place in Chicago. Just came back from a brazilian wax with Ivona. Amazing!! This woman knows how to wax fast and wax effectively. A session with her = minimal pain (come on, we know brazilians and waxing in general are painful) and a nice pleasant chat. I think the entire session was roughly 15-20 minutes and the only painful part was the initial 5 minutes we used to get the majority of hair. She used blue hard wax for the remaining stubborn hairs which did not hurt really at all...and she had to tweeze some portions as well, which was not painful either. My previous experience with brazilians have been hit or miss - some waxers are too slow, some talk too much, some don't explain what they are doing, etc. Ivona is the best! I am going to her from now on for all of my brazilians. read more

When I actually have enough money to get a Brazilian wax, this is the place for me! I found it by its reviews on Yelp and I have been happy each time I have gone in. The space is decorated really well and the rooms all have red doors which looks really cool. I have been lucky enough to get parking right out front each time. Stephanie M has done my waxing each time and suprisingly she is great about remembering me each time (even if there are a few months in between visits). I had Lynn as my waxer and I've never had a faster wax in my life--it may have been literally seven minutes. She was friendly, we had a great conversation, and she seemed experienced. They use both hard and soft wax, which is nice. I've used multiple types of hard wax before, and sometimes don't like it, but this one was great. The place was clean and decorated nicely. YAY!! I do a lot of traveling, which is great, except when I need to find an esthetician. I'm in Chicago briefly and after much searching, much Yelp reading, and much deliberating on whether it would be worth it at all, I settled on an eyebrow and Brazilian bikini wax at Trim. Sonny was my esthetician and she was GREAT! She started by asking me what I wanted in my brow wax. Kind of amazing how many estheticians make assumptions and just sorta go at it. So mad props for that. I explained that they needed some cleaning up, a little bit of shaping, and that I have long eyebrow hairs which also need to be trimmed. She went right to it while still being super friendly and chatty. At the end, she handed me a mirror and I was THRILLED! My eyebrows look fabulous. The only thing is that she didn't trim the hairs like I asked. Though honestly, she did such a great job otherwise that I don't care as much. Onto the bikini wax! Went into the seculded room, dropped trou, and through my own fault, I forgot to specify how I wanted the wax. Oops. But really, it turned out fine. She used hard wax in part of it and soft wax when necessary. She really did an excellent job of getting as much hair off at once as possible, which means that she didn't have to go over the same areas of skin frequently and that is so important. All in all, she did a great job and I really liked Trim. I'd visit again if/when in the Chicago area and the need comes up again. Oh! Trim does prefer cash, which I didn't have on me. They were very gracious about it, but if you can, bring cash to your appointment. read more

Today I decided that I should go back and review all of the places I've gotten Brazilian waxes in Chicago, so please pardon the fact that I haven't been here in awhile. Trim was the first place I ever got waxed in Chicago. Its close to my apartment and neither the most or least expensive place in the area and they specialize in waxing, so it seemed like a safe bet. It had everything a girl needs in waxing salon- cute, clean, thorough, yet I was not satisfied enough to come back. Let me give the disclaimer that I'm always in search of getting the best brazilian for my buck and $55 is just a little too steep for me. Although they did a good job, there was nothing special about it. I would almost rather spend $5 more and go somewhere more luxurious. With bikini waxing you generally get what you pay for. At Trim you will neither be disappointed or wowed. I would totally go here for my standard monthly wax if I could afford it. read more

I suppose its a little on the pricey side, but with waxes, I've learned (sometimes the painful way) that you get what you pay for. Had a much better experience here, than at the location on Lincoln. Got a wax from STEPHANIE, and she means business. Fast, efficient, and friendly. One of the best waxers I've ever come across. Ok...I'm not new to waxing. I've been to a few different places in the city (including the other Trim location) and have also been waxed by my bestie when she's up for it. After downing 3 Advil while leaving work, I headed down to Trim and was super stoked to find parking right in front...sweet!! This was shaping up to be a great visit already. Alright, lets just put it out there...while doing the brow and lip, Liliana and I talked about upgrading my bikini to a brazilian...which I've never done before, but the brow and lip were so painless that I decided to go for the whole shebang down below...totally worth it. Liliana is amazing. Quick and efficient...two things you look for in someone who is inflicting pain on your nether-regions. This was by far my best waxing experience. Daina definitely knows what she's doing when I came in for a Brazilian. Although there's no easy way to avoid the pain, she made the process quick and easy. I would recommend this place if you're getting major waxing done (i.e. bikini and legs). If you just want a quick brow or facial wax, it's much cheaper to go to the Asian nail salons. Some even charges $5 for an upper lip wax (if that's not a deal then I don't know what is). read more

Thought I'd write an update after realizing that I've been going here for 5 years, every 2-3 weeks, to keep my eyebrows in shape. I still love it, and wouldn't go anyplace else unless I had to. I've had really good experiences with basically all the estheticians--lately I've been going to see Iwona, who is awesome at shaping brows so that they are the most flattering possible shape for your face. She really understands contours, and I never feel the slightest bit nervous when she's working on me. There are two things that could be improved upon, and which don't have anything to do with the services themselves: 1) When you book an appointment with a particular esthetician, sometimes when you get there you end up being placed with a different person. I don't usually mind, but it would be nice if someone would notify me first--especially since, when you book the appointment, the receptionist specifically asks which person you'd like to see. I think that if you are told you're booked with a particular esthetician, but then that person is not working or is busy with another client, you should have the option to reschedule. At the very least, when you arrive for an appointment, it would be nice if someone told you that your preferred person isn't available. 2) The new system of Belly points is a little exasperating. I go to this business religiously, so I've amassed quite a few points. But you can only redeem them for particular services, and the eyebrow clean-up isn't one of them. It doesn't make much sense that you can't just spend the points on a service that you actually want. For example, I have more than enough points to get a free Brazilian wax (a pretty expensive service), but I don't WANT a Brazilian wax--I just want to get my brows done! I don't see how this would cause the business to lose any revenue, and I promise that I (and probably most people) would still tip my estheticians really well. read more
