    I walked to Kensington Market this afternoon. Restaurants and bars in Toronto, as of a couple days ago, are allowed to open their patios as long as social distancing rules are followed. I saw an empty table for two in the corner of the patio at Trinity Common so stopped in for a beer. Seating was only available on the patio (not in the restaurant) and the tables/chairs were spaced apart. Mario, the server, cleaned the tables and chairs as soon as people left. All staff wore masks or face coverings and they were all friendly. There is a limited menu and they are printed on paper and you provide your contact information (so they can notify you if there is an outbreak because of their restaurant). This is the first beer I've had on a patio since last year and it was nice to feel "normal". There are men's and women's washrooms and though there are three stalls, only one person is allowed in at one time and you have to wear a mask when you enter the restaurant (they provide them if you don't have one).

    I so wanted to like this place. I feel like there was a lot of potential when we walked in, but this was never fulfilled. We had a party of seven, and were quickly seated inside as most people had filled up the patio. We ordered drinks, which turned up pretty fast, but service soon went downhill. One of my friends came late. It took her so long to nab down our server to place her order. By this point, we had been waiting for at least half an hour for food. The server then informed us that "the computers had crashed" and the kitchen hadn't received our food orders. Thus resulted another 15-minute wait. She did bring us some fries on the house for this inconvenience, but by then the food was almost ready. I feel like they have good food selection. You're bound to find something you like off their menu. I was feeling like some seafood, so I ordered the Creole shrimp. This was probably partially my fault for not reading the description, but this dish was literally six small shrimp. Definitely should be moved to the appetizers section. Luckily, a lot of people ordered the chicken and waffles, and I was able to satiate my hunger with a nice piece of fried chicken. It did get busier by the time we (finally) finished our meal, but not enough to justify another 15-minute wait to pay our bills. We just wanted to get out of there by this point. With better service, I think this place could make a more worthwhile impression.

    came by on a sunday, they were quite busy. nothing in particular wowed us here. got some beers and a charcuterie board. too bad the server just dropped off the board and left didnt really tell us which cheeses and cured meats were which.. it came w.some fruits and picked stuff but we didnt even know what it was.. she nvr really came by to check on us and see if we wanted to order more.... ever. poor service.

    This place is had a large interior, a good sized patio and go from open, bright, and roomy, to crowded, loud, and divey. The interior looks like it "had" a dance floor and the "trinity" is food, beer, and music. Looks like they opted for more tables. The service is okay, they get busy and I feel like they're generally short a server or two. The table we sat at was sticky and with just 3 servers to the main interior and one server to the patio, service for food, and clearing dishes took a quick minute. The order for the night: 18 oysters and seafood gumbo to share. The oysters were nice. But I felt like perhaps the person shucking them didn't take the care to do them cleanly. Lot of broken shell slices and pieces in each mouthful. The oysters are buck a shuck on Tuesday. They are small little guys but none the less delicious (sans shells). The seafood gumbo, doesn't look traditional, but ate pretty good. There is a lot of rice though. By the end we were spooning large portions. Of just rice and broth without seafood. The highlight is the spice in this dish, just enough to be there but not overwhelm. It's a good warming dish if you come here in cold weather. Overall it's an okay place. The food isn't a big enough draw to bring me back. But if you're looking for drinks I would say that this place has a lot to offer.

    Terrible bar, out of every draft beer, sold out of all the food on the menu, the music is way too loud and they do not take AMEX,

    Excellent selection of beers and great patio in the heart of Kensington Market. Haven't tried the food but menu looked great.

However, The vodka Pie haunts me in my dreams. I think I crave this pizza about every week. The pizza at King Taps has one of the best crusts I've ever had, and the vodka sauce is to die for. We started with the Brussels sprouts which is always a great choice from here. Crispy on the outside and not an overwhelming Brussels sprout taste. This is likely because there is a generous sprinkling of grated parm and a great amount of dip. We tried the crispy tuna sushi. The tuna was beautifully marinated, so flavourful. And the sushi was nice and crispy. The vodka pie was a seasonal item and when we saw it listed, we knew we needed to try it. The sauce- amazing, the press was nice and flaky and light and really tasty. And the soccer Sada added nice saltines and flavour without being too overwhelming. For happy hour, the apps and pizzas were $5 off, and the ranch water was $5. I'd come back for the pizza alone! Jeans was our waitress and she was great!

    Stopped by the Cactus Club Cafe in Toronto after the Blue Jays game. This is a great spot for late…read morenight drinks/food. When you arrive you have the option to sit on the first floor or upstairs on the rooftop bar. I believe this is the only multi-level Cactus Club Cafe I've ever been to. We opted for the rooftop bar which had a high energy, upscale, and stylish vibe to it. We ended up sitting at the bar as it was very crowded. I ordered a frozen Aperol Spritz which was excellent and I could drink a few of these. For food we ordered a burger and fries which was good but nothing to write home about. If you are looking for a late night spot for drinks and food the Cactus Club Cafe is a solid choice.

The place SEEMED quiet but shortly thereafter the place got JAMMED! Initially it was slow service but it picked up shortly. We had several different servers so no single server is tagged here. I will say that it's a hip, nicely equipped restaurant. We decided to do an appie meal. We ordered Sichuan Chicken lettuce wraps ($25.50)..this was the best of the appies. The next was the Crab Dip ($20.75), it was hot but not overly tasty. 3rd was the Hot Chicken Bites with pickles ($16.00). They were ok but not hot in temp enough. The final was the Chili Citrus Calamari ($21.25). This was the worse of the dishes. Simply put, it was cold. The server removed this from our bill. In summary...I wouldn't go out of my way again to go here but given all things being equal, the servers were very good. As a final note...the bathroom was very clean & well maintained.

Located on the 31st floor of the St. Regis Hotel, the restaurant has an incredible atmosphere. The dining room is absolutely stunning with a classy and luxurious feel, but it still feels comfortable and inviting rather than too formal. We started the evening with cocktails before moving into the Summerlicious menu. I ordered the "I Only Drink When I Smoke," which was a great way to start the night. It had a subtle smoky flavour with a touch of sweetness, and the alcohol was not overpowering at all. It was smooth, easy to sip on, and the perfect drink to enjoy while having conversations. For my Summerlicious menu, I started with the Tartare de Boeuf and Caviar. The filet mignon tartare was fresh and really smooth, with a nice balance of rich and savoury flavours. The toasted bread also gave it a nice crunch and paired really well with the tartare. For the main course, I had the Roasted Chateaubriand Filet. When the plate was served, the meat looked really rare as I saw nothing but red on the meat, but it was incredibly tender, making it easy to cut through. It was full of flavour, and the sauce complemented the steak without being too heavy or salty. The vegetables added a nice balance to the dish, and the creamy mashed potatoes were smooth, and definitely one of my favourite parts of the meal. To finish, I had the Mango Passionfruit Cheesecake. It was creamy without feeling too heavy. Though the fruity flavours from the mango passionfruit were a bit tart and sweet for my palate, it still gave an overall refreshing touch. The crust added a nice texture, and it was the perfect ending to the meal. Beyond the food, what really stood out was the service and pacing of the evening. Each course arrived at the right time, allowing us to enjoy every dish without feeling rushed. The price point is definitely on the higher end, so it is not somewhere I would personally visit for a casual dinner on a regular basis. However, for a special occasion, celebration, or a night where you want to enjoy a beautiful dining experience, I think Louix Louis would be a great choice... and for $75/ person for Summerlicious/ Winterlicious, definitely a great value to sample the chefs' artistry. Overall, it was a memorable evening with an elegant atmosphere, thoughtfully prepared dishes, and great service. I can definitely understand why this spot has become such a popular destination, and I would love to come back again for Winterlicious!
