Triumph brewery is unique if nothing else with a beautiful dining area upstairs in the refurbished post office and a dark sports bar downstairs.  We ate at the elegant upstairs restaurant.    Wife had a perfectly cooked Filet Mignon at $47.   I had the Seared Cod $36 and son went with the pesto Fusilli Calabresi $25. All of the dishes were excellent.  Also had a side of Fioretto Cauliflower $12 that was creative though not too plentiful.  Really appreciated that they list the farms where they source their ingredients.  The beers were superb, Hazy IPA, Bohemian Pilsner and Keller Pils.  The sports bar has a different menu with more of the types of dishes you'd expect at a brew pub. It is however dark and less inviting. In part that's the rub here. As much as we appreciated the quality of the food and gorgeous setting the fact that it is part of a brewery becomes somewhat irrelevant. We had beer because we were there but the dishes begged for wine. I'd have preferred a beautiful beer hall rather than the full fine dining experience. Just a bit too upscale for a brewery. Stopped in with some colleagues one afternoon, and it's a really fun spot. I realized when I walked in that I'd been there previously for a bachelor party, I think, and at that time I think we were on the top floor for a dinner which I recall being pretty great. This time, we were there to just hang out at the bar, so we went down to the basement, which is really nicely decorated! I opted for one of their brews, I think a dark lager, which tasted pretty good, though I didn't end up finishing it. I got to chat a bit with one of the bartenders, who was really cool and helped me out a bunch with some much needed water! I think his name was Herman. This review is for happy hour only. We had some tap beers, the potatoes and the pretzel bites. We enjoyed the beers, particularly the Czech style dark beer. The apps were just ok. Service was great and we like the ambiance. We thought it was a bit odd that at 5 pm and with the place pretty empty, they wouldn't let us sit down at the big communal table (we were only going to be there for an hour). Cool concept with the more formal room upstairs and sports bar downstairs. The downstairs felt like a speakeasy. They both have the same kitchen and menu. The food was good but the service was off the day I went. They messed up a few of our items and the burgers were not cooked to the wellness we asked. The fries were hot and crispy! The wing sauce had good flavor but I needed more of it! The broccolini side dish was surprisingly delicious. To finish the meal, we got a dessert to share and everybody enjoyed it. Why doesn't this Triumph location get more attention? a beautiful space, excellent beer and food and very good service (in our case from Jabari). Salted lime lager was great and the wine selection for my wife made her very happy as did the mussels she ordered. The entire experience was good after a visit to the Princeton museum nearby. I've been here now at least 4xs in the last couple of months since Triumph Brewing Company relocated to a different area. It is now where the old post office used to be. What makes this place interesting and new from the old Triumph Brewing Company is one the location, and two you have a choice of going down to the lower level at their Der Keller where it's more casual, and there is a bar some tables and a few high hats, or upstairs where it is more business like and upscale. They have a lovely bar upstairs with table seating and Jazz musicians playing from 6-9 pm.( check their schedule for who is playing.) The menu has completely changed from the old Triumph Brewing Company. They have a new chef and he's wonderful. I chose to eat downstairs in the Der Keller pub. They have an elevator so if you're handicapped, you can go up or down with no problems. I prefer to sit at the bar downstairs in the Der Keller. It's not a big place so it's first come first served but it was perfect for us. The first time I came here, the bar was completely full so we decided to go upstairs and check it out. Within 2 minutes The manager Anthony saw that we went upstairs and he was so kind because two seats opened up at the bar downstairs and he had the bartender. Ryan saved them for us. Anthony came upstairs and offered us those two seats. I was so impressed that he took the time to do this. You can make a reservation for "upstairs only" in their dining room. The menu is different from the original Princeton Triumph Brewing Company. They make in-house homemade brisket and homemade pastrami. Both are so delicious. I have to tell you I've been back multiple times just to have their House-Made Pastrami with sauerkraut, beer mustard, gruyere, on artisan rye, along with their house chips. The chips are addictive. This sandwich is wonderful. ( I've been back 3 XS just to have it.) The pastrami is lean and juicy and that sauerkraut with beer mustard adds so much depth of flavor. I paired it with one of their 30th Anniversary Imperial Amber Beer which complimented my sandwich so well. I've also tried their House Pretzels with cheddar Sauce, Braised Brisket Sandwich with gruyere, caramelized onion, roasted jalapeno, natural sauce, on ciabatta bread. It was very good and also juicy. My daughter had their Monte Cristo Sandwich with smoked ham, roasted turkey breast, brie, smoked maple syrup, on brioche french toast, with house pickles. She enjoyed her sandwich. The Craft Beers are made on the premises. They are always changing. If you're not into sandwiches, no problem they have a full menu of burgers including black bean burger, salads, chicken, steak, roast duck, saffron braised rabbit, grilled venison chop, braised short ribs, homemade pasta, cod oreganata , and desserts. They do have a children's menu 12 and under. Happy hour at the Princeton Triumph Brewing Company is daily from 4 PM to 6 PM at the bar. The happy hour menu includes specials on items like House-Made Pretzels with ale cheddar cheese, Bulgogi Beef Sliders, Mojo Smoked Pork Empanadas, and Seared Halloumi Cheese. They also offer discounts on select beer and wine during this time. My bartenders were Ryan and Ken. They were both extremely friendly and personable.Ryan made good recommendations and drinks. Serena and Estela were my hostesses. They have house merch for sale. The menu is always changing except for a few dishes. Came here Saturday night with a big group of friends and we were able to squeeze into a corner table downstairs. We got a wide range of cocktails and draft beers and burgers and pretzels and cheese plates to share. The pear drink was very good and the 30th anniversary beer was also a hit. what made our night was our waiter Johnny. He's very attentive and friendly and shared many fun facts about the drinks and history of Triumph. What's even more impressive was when one of our friends was craving some fried pickles, he talked with the chef and got our friend fried pickles that's off the menu. The Triumph Brewing Company has undergone a relocation to the old Princeton post office, and along with the relocation, they've a new menu and new focus as well. Any review for the restaurant posted before September 2024 is no longer relevant. I would point out that I was not a fan of the old location. It seemed dark, cavernous, and the food was just okay and ordinary pub grub. After going there a couple of times, I never went back until now. The review below is strictly for the upstairs dining area. They have a small but varied menu that includes vegetarian, meat and fish entrees, small plates and appetizers. Our group of two couples ordered Frito Misto (very good), the Duck Terrine (peppery, but still very good) and the grilled Octopus (excellent). For dinner, we had a Duck Cassoulet that I was reluctant to share, two ordered the NY Strip, which was tender and delivered to the requested medium doneness, and the Cod, which I would have liked more of than just a taste. The dining area is well staffed with an extremely courteous and attentive team. We had a 6;30 PM reservation, and once led to our table, we were never pushed by the wait staff to order or eat, and never felt rushed to eat and leave. We spent a very comfortable and unhurried 2.5 hours at our table. Our server, Rā (Rachel), was more than excellent. Although I read at least one review griping about the new dress code, it's hardly draconian (it only asks that you not wear athletic wear, flip flops or caps). I'm a fan of the new policy, especially the no caps part. Caps in a restaurant just rub me the wrong way--doesn't matter if it's a diner or a tie-required sort of place. Yes, I'm old school about restaurant manners. Live jazz in cocktail lounge upstairs is on tap Fridays and Saturdays from 5 to 8 PM. The cocktail lounge itself looked comfortable and well designed, but the seats are limited. If you're not in the lounge, the live music can still be heard and enjoyed throughout the restaurant. Reservations for upstairs are recommended. I did see people eating at the bar, but it's a pretty active area behind you, so it might not be the most relaxing place to eat. No reservations are required for the downstairs, but people were waiting in line to get a table on Friday night. For me, the restaurant at the Triumph Brewery is a welcome addition to Princeton's dining scene, and a definite improvement over the ordinariness of the old location. Food was quite good. I would have given a 4.5 or so but enjoyed the meal very much. The reason for the ding would be because they were out of the west coast oysters and wedge salad. Would think that you would want to augment the menu then with some additional specials (they did have additions but nothing really equivalent). The short ribs paired well with the risotto - the risotto was a little overly salty but the short ribs were a touch under salty so they offset. Not sure if this was on purpose. All f the other dishes were nicely seasoned and prepared/composed well. Service was very attentive and took good care of us. Ambiance - have been here when it was an actual post office. They kept some of the element and it really worked well. I've not been to the downstairs but the place had a very nice upscale feeling. I read the reviews and I think that the place is different from the old location as well as the other locations in new hope and such. The waiter said that the downstairs was similar to the old place but didn't have a chance to go through to it. The may want to name the upstairs a little more explicitly different than the downstairs. From the reviews, I think people were expecting the old place's experience where clearly, they were going for something different. Some complain about the dress code, I can now see why they want the dress code. All about expectations and what folks were looking for. read more

It's more of a restaurant and they have rooms for rental for group events . Downstairs is more of a bar and the brewery is located down there . More casual and quick bites. Service Great and attentive. Food We had the quick bites which included honey, roasted cashews, olives, and cheese, which paired well with the Frito miso, which was fried seafood. The batter was really tasty and the spicy sauce, and the best which we saved for last was the flatbread and the truffle oil with a bacon arugula And ricotta with the roasted squash was so amazing. We recently had a wonderful lunch in Triumph restaurant in Princeton. We were greeted by a great host named Bree who made sure our lunch was perfect and our server Sydney who was upbeat and full of helpful information. The design work using the old post office is just magnificent. The restaurant is a warm inviting set up and although we didn't use the lounge, we look forward to going back to the bar/lounge area as well. The staff is very attentive, and our water glasses were never empty, our dirty plates were never there more than a minute, and our food came out nicely, timed from the kitchen, hot and fresh. Without pressure, we always knew somebody would be by to see if we needed something else. We took a picture of the menu and the cocktails so you can look for yourselves, but we were very happy splitting an appetizer of the flatbread pizza. It would've been hard to eat alone. read more

When me and my party sat at the bar, it took about 5 minutes to take our drink order. There were three employees behind the bar, none of them pouring beer or doing anything. That was a bit annoying, but after ordering food and drink the dining experience was good. The food arrived quickly and was decent quality. The brussel sprouts were tasty, but too greasy. The brisket sandwich was good, but it came with a small cup of broth or sauce, not sure what it was and the waiter didn't give an explanation what it was for either. If it was supposed to be au jus, the cup it was in was way too small to dip the sandwich. If I ever return to that area for business, I would give the restaurant another shot, because I think it has potential. read more

Had a nice meal of steak frites and the roasted duck with a to go order of the autumn squash agnolotti. When I got home I realized how light the to go bag was and opened to a surprise of a small portion size. I included a penny for size comparison of this dish. It has 5 agnolotti total for $33. I called the restaurant because I thought they had mistaken the entree for a side order but they assured me that 5 agnolotti was correct for the entree portion. When the steak frites was $39 and the roasted duck was $38 it is hard to imagine this small portion size of a vegetarian dish warrants $33. The taste was okay, but nothing special. read more

The place was EMPTY, yet the hostess came over and chewed us out for having the dog. Not just a polite refusal--an aggressive, rude tirade that left us stunned. It was humiliating and completely uncalled for. Service dogs are not pets. They are essential medical aids, and denying them entry is not only unethical--it's illegal. The fact that Triumph would treat loyal customers this way is appalling. The new space feels cold, and the staff even colder. Triumph has gone from a beloved taproom to a place we'll never return to. We'd been going to the original location for Triumph since it opened, and were looking forward to seeing the new space. Walked in to a table at der Keller (which has more vegetarian options, so that was our first choice) and got seated immediately. Server took a minute to appear, despite the complete lack of a crowd, but eventually took our order... And that was the last time she spoke to us. We weren't asked about ordering a second beer (which we absolutely would have), we weren't checked in on for anything (and we really needed a spoon!), but our server was standing across the room looking around, I guess waiting for us to leave? The place still wasn't crowded when we left, either. We felt genuinely unwelcome and promptly went to Agricola for the rest of the night. A real shame too, since the food was really great and the Bengal Gold was still a tasty beer. Five star food and one star service averages out to a three. read more

i am not sure what had happened to Triumph in Princeton since they moved- specifically Der Keller. We used to be regulars at the old place, loved the flights and the burgers were perfect and customizable. The waitstaff don't seem up to par in the new place, a lot of them seem to be standing around and not very busy. The last few times we went we order our burgers medium as usual. They came out virtually raw and had to be redone. They also had gone down in quality- not super delicious as usual. Burgers used to be their thing, maybe they don't want to be a go to burger place anymore. Really miss the old site and the vibe there. Triumph used to be one of my favorites in Princeton when it was at the old location on Nassau Street. Tried it out recently at the new location on Palmer Square and unfortunately it is no where near as good as it used to be. I used to love their beer tasting flights, but they no longer have that. Many of the items on the menu that I used to love are no longer on the menu. The prices are much more expensive now too. Overall the food was OK, but wasn't nearly as good as it used to be. The beer that I was served was room temperature and not even cold. Who wants to drink room temperature beer, especially at a place that makes their own beer? Overall very disappointed compared to how great it used to be. Unless they bring back their beer tasting flights or some of the previous much beloved menu items, then I will likely not be going back again. Such a shame... read more

We went to Triumph on the busiest night of the year in Princeton, Thanksgiving Eve, and it was packed with GenZers. We were the oldest ones there, haha. The bar restaurant downstairs is better for casual eating and drinking. We were seated quickly despite the crowd, and though packed, we had no probs with hearing our conversation and tables were spaced well. The water waiter came quickly. There is a specials menu and regular menu. The beer selection is great, showing alcohol content, and both pint and smaller available is you wanna try a few different brews. I had the red ale which was excellent. We had a fried eggplant app which was amazing in baba ganoush sauce, barely breaded, so no bulky batter. He had the brisket sandwich which he raved about. I had the beer mussels (spelled muscles on the menu for some reason) and they were insanely good, steamed in beer, butter, garlic and fresh basil. I could only complain that it was enough to feed 3 people, but I managed to finish it. Served with frites/fries that were perfect. So excellent food and beer, excellent service, good prices for what you get. And everything was so good, I forgot to take pictures. read more

Had dinner in the upstairs restaurant as a party of 8. The menu is somewhat limited for folks who have dietary restrictions but were told that the chef could accommodate any/all situations. Unfortunately, that was not really the case and when asked if we could order something simple off the tavern menu the manager proceed to come racing to our table and aggressively proceed to lecture us as to why they could not accommodate. To complicate matters more several items on the menu were just not available that Saturday evening making an already limited menu even more so. When we finally received our food it was overall uninspiring, over seasoned, and over cooked. Triumph needs to remember who they are (I'm speaking to the manger here) as diners have a lot of choices in Princeton for dining and nobody deserves to be treated the way we were. We were excited to try this new addition to the Princeton restaurant scene but I can confidently say , none of the 8 will be returning. read more

As a fan of the Triumph in New Hope, I was excited about the new location at Palmer Square, but this Triumph just isn't it. There wasn't a vegan entree on the menu, which shocked us since all the other Triumph locations offer *something*. It made for a really awkward dinner since I couldn't order anything besides an appetizer. To set the tone this is a full service restaurant with white table cloths in a super well appointed dining room. The renovation of this building was excellent and adds to the fun atmosphere . But on to the important thing the food: excellent. Creative menu with a wide range of offerings, including vegan and the offer to modify whatever dish you ordered to your particular needs. My wife and I had the venison which was a "special " tenderloins and they were excellent, cooked absolutely perfect. The other members of our dinner party had vegetarian options that were quite pleasing to them. Five to this place, I will be going again. read more
