Truly a good place, Always all employees are really kind and friendly to everyone. The place in general is always clean, and they also give out free popcorn to customers on the right side of the entrance. Their popcorn is always really great, and crunchy. TRM delivered the wrong wood instead of finished grade Cedar we got an inferior quality that we returned to TRM. TRM delayed taking it back then promised a refund but never returned any money. My wife actually stopped to pick it up and there it all was + the paperwork, DONE! She picked up a couple T-30 GRX bits too. This was an easy call, easy pickup and easy done! I recent bought $9,600 worth of glulam's for a deck project in Maple Valley and when they were delivered. 95% of them were damaged and rejected. Mark Anderson promised he would pick them up almost after 3 weeks of going back and forth and today Hannah Morris told us that they would not be taking them back. The glulam's came from Rosboro in Oregon and were sold to TRM by their distributor Huttig Building Materials. Today they stiffed us and now this is headed to the courts. Do not buy anything from these people. The lie and cheat their customer's. The Reps from Huttig and Rosboro also lied to cover their asses. Go to Dunn Lumber, Builders First Choice in Issaquah or even Chinook Lumber. They have better quality materials at or better than the prices they are selling for at TRM and people you can trust that work there. They lied to us repletely and never came and picked them up. Please avoid these people as they are not honest. Go to the lumber yards I listed and save yourself some grief and hardships. We have purchased quality wood at a good price from TRM for years. Last month we bought a gorgeous piece of hard wood for a window ledge....and it was totally worth the $35. Usually, we order inside and then drive to the designated stop sign, at which point a young man runs up, checked the receipt and pulls the lumber. But on our visit early in April, a man (named Mark, I think) approached us in the store and asked what we needed. When I told him we needed a 10×2, he asked us to follow him outside. He questioned me about what we were going to use it for (floating shelves) and how we would finish it (stain polyurethane). I told him that I liked seeing the grain. So, he showed us the pile. He got any idea of what we like, then told us to go get our vehicle. When we got back to the pile, he showed us a beautiful board he found. We agreed it looked nice, and then he offered to cut it for us. After making the cuts, he stacked them together and double checked they we all the same length. We spent less that $20 for quality wood that he selected and custom cut. Thanks TRM! read more

Do not waste your time here. They are the closest lumber yard to my house, but after being consistently disappointed, I am done. For a lumber yard, they have a shocking lack of wood. Pre-primed for trim? Nope. Any sort of finished plywood? Nope. So you figure they probably keep their untreated wood under cover right? Nope. They must have good customer service? Negative! The blonde girl that works the counter is useless and has messed up multiple of my orders. They never wore masks during covid. Finally, given everything above you figure they must have good prices, right? No again. I honestly can't see any benefit to shopping here and won't be until they go out of business and someone else buys them, which I imagine has to happen soon. read more

We have a person to rebuild our deck but we are at a loss to figure out what materials we need and what the cost would be. Went to TRM to pick out the decking. We had a good sketch of our deck and Mark did a fabulous job of giving us a complete material list and cost. We so appreciate his thorough work and could not proceed with our project without this. Not a helpful place for the average homeowner wanting to price some basic home improvement projects. They don't post their inventory or prices. You have to email somebody there to get a quote. This is cumbersome and I've had miscommunication issues with them on this. For example: I ordered supplies for replacing my fence, so I went to pick it up only to find out that half of it was a special order. So I had to wait a couple of weeks for it. Due to high winds we had last week, part of my fence came down. I was planning on replacing portions of my fence this summer but had to move the project up, due to my dog and not wanting him running around the neighborhood. I went to homedepot and checked out pricing, then talked to my friend thats a contrator, he said before I buy my lumber to call TRM. Boy was I happy, TRM was way cheaper. I worked with a guys named Denny, he was great. Got me setup with all the stuff I need for my project. Totally will use them again when I need supplies to rebuild my carport. read more

Their customer service is lacking big time. I was working on a project and needed some lumber. I stopped in and purchased almost $400.00 worth of lumber. Turns out two of the 16' pieces I had purchased were not in very good shape at all. Yard guy informed me that there was only about 4 more in stock right now and they were all bad. He asked if I was could take 4 10' pieces instead. This was a great idea, since I would be cutting the 16' pieces in half anyway. We loaded up the 10' pieces and all was good. The problem came when I went back inside to correct the paperwork to reflect what I actually had loaded. Gail, informed me that I would need to pay an additional $14.00. I told her that I did not think it was fair to charge me extra, since the boards I had originally purchased were not usable. She said I was getting more board feet, so the price went up. I told her that even though I was getting more board feet, I was just going to be throwing that away, because I did not need it. I didn't think I should have to pay for lumber that I was just going to throw away. Gail would not budget. I realize it was only $14.00, and in the end I paid it. I was surprised that such a big lumber company was not will to eat just $14.00 and forced me to pay for lumber I was just going to throw away. I will definitely think twice about making another purchase there. read more

First of all, I have no direct ties with TRM except for being one of the first families to utilize their business when it sprung-up in Black Diamond. At that time, the business was located on an half of acre and had nothing but an open lot, oh, and a small 10x10 ft shed. My father (Johnny Markus Jr.), started ordering framing packages from them and we followed them to where they now exists in Maple Valley/Four Corner's. Do they have everything we needed in the way of wood, no, but one can't expect them to, what I can't find is usually not related to the decking/home building industry. So, if you are looking for a big variety of lattice, you may or may not find what you're looking for, however for the average "Joe" you'll most likely find 90% of your project there at comparable prices. They offer one of the biggest selections of hardware for your framing, decking and fencing needs. If it's best price for projects that you're expecting, I caution that you're not comparing apple's with apple's because many of your big warehouse materials (ie..Home Depot, etc.) will not stand up to the quality of wood/materials you'll purchase at TRM. It does make a difference in laying out/framing, longevity and your overall finished project. So, hands down, when your project counts as a near lifetime endeavor, don't buy big warehouse to build your masterpiece. See the folk's at TRM. Belly-up to their pop machine and buy one of the less expense cans you've bought in a long time and enjoy your free popcorn. Tell Dan-o, Thomas sent you! These people are true natives to our retail history in the Valley. Oh, tell Johnny-Jack to get his feet off of his desk...(-: One other thing, is if you have an order, call them and have them pull their best materials for you; when you get there to pick it up, check it to see if it's going to meet your likings. This way, you'll expedite your order plus assure your materials are what you need and ready to go. I have had no problems with their orders and a simple self-check before you leave any vendor, will help immensely with your end results. This is something you have to do with any supplier. If things end up wrong, it's a 50-50 chance that it was our fault as well as any company. I have seen that myself being in retail. I can't honestly think of any horror story that we experienced in the 40+ years working with TRM. The employee's at TRM have been a huge factor in our quality building experience. TRM is now my only shop for any lumber or building supplies. Mark Anderson in sales is the best. My last fence project was 3500$ cheaper than 5 other suppliers. TRM includes the concrete and all hardware/fasteners with their estimates if you need them. Delivery was 50$ to Snoqualmie. I'm now in process of removing my deck and rebuilding it and TRM is going to supply the lumber package. read more

So far a great resource for getting building materials and drywall delivered locally for $50. The "other guys" charge $80 and only deliver via semi. TRM does as well but they've also a smaller delivery truck (350) that can get down my winding gravel road more easily. read more

Just got back from Johnson's Do It....very helpful...in and out in less than 3 minutes! Tried to pick up what I needed at TRM first. When I walked in there were 3 people behind the counter; one helping another customer; two fiddling with the receipt printer. I stood right at the counter for 12 minutes ( I checked my watch after I had waited about 5 minutes) and not one of the TRM employees asked if they could help me or if I was being helped. When I decided to leave and go to Johnson's I walked slowing to the door thinking one of them might say something....not a word from any of them. I should add that I was there about 8 minutes before closing and maybe they had already decided not to take on any more customers that day! read more

We bought our lumber package for the house be built in Maple Valley. The delivered the wrong trusses and took forever to get them to correct their mistake. We ordered windows through them as well and they claimed we never ok'd the final so delayed our project another 2 weeks. We sent our ok the very next day. They claimed they never got it. Part of the material they sent were wrong and took going over there several times and waiting and arguing for a few hours to get them to take it back and issue a refund. You would thing spending $35k+ on a lumber package will get you some personal attention but they treated us like we are the plague and refused to making anything they messed up on right. I hardly ever leave review but felt I had to in this case because of how bad our experience was. They are really close to where we live but would rather go to Bukley to get our lumber from now on.
