Overall the employees are awesome and really try to provide great customer service. I haven't dealt with one bad attitude. The selection is up to par and the prices seem to beat other establishments. I know I'm getting the best deal here. It is sad to see all the theft but I know Home Depot are constantly making changes to curb it. Placed an order and paid extra for same day delivery. A little while later I get a message saying that my items were split into 2 shipments and 3 of my items will now be here tomorrow. That doesn't work for me. I need them today. So I reach out to customer service who tells me that it was split into two shipments due to driver availability? Huh? I ordered 6 very small items and 3 are being delivered today. SO, why weren't the other 3 small items given to the same driver? Makes absolutely no sense at all. Last time I'll order from them. Do not buy a gift card from the Home Depot. In order to use it, you have to scratch off section to get the card number. But by scratching off that section customers tend rub off the pin number, making the gift card useless. In the words of the employee at the service desk, "this happens way too often." Even the manager wasn't able to scan the card and see the balance. I stood around for 30 minutes while he emailed the higher-ups. They did not promptly return his email so I have to wait for him to call me back. This is no fault of the employees. This is system failure. read more

I purchased a FirePit online from Home Depot. I paid $159 extra to have someone from Home Depot assemble it. The purchase instructions said after the product was delivered, someone from the installation team would contact me to schedule the assembly. No one contacted me. After a week, I contacted Home Depot's Customer Service. They contacted the installer on my behalf and asked them to reach out to me. Five more days went by with no contact from the installer. My daughter came and assembled the fire pit for me. TC #1 - I called Home Depot to request a refund for the install. The person told me the installer had to initiate the refund and provided the phone number. TC #2 - I called the installer and they said they initiated the paperwork for the refund and to follow up with Home Depot who would credit back the amount I paid. TC #3 - I called Home Depot two days later and was told they do not issue the credit back, but the installer does. TC #4 - I called the installer, again, and was told Home Depot would issue the refund. Ugh! Nothing but run-around. TC #5 - I called Home Depot again and was finally told they would be crediting me back in 3-5 business days. (5 phone calls to get my money back). Lesson learned: (1) DO NOT USE HOME DEPOT FOR INSTALLATIONS. (2) Customer Service Department needs some education on how to provide good customer service. This place suit the bill for a bare-bones DIY experience. Pros- Behr paint is fantastic. It wears well over years, too. They have a lot of employees running around that are fairly knowledge. Kitchen design- Sarah is very familiar with their products and the whole process. You can buy/schedule as much or as little as you want from them. The designers don't earn commission, so no pressure. Cons- It took 3 calls (on hold too long each time) to get through to the kitchen design center. I even left a message they said they didn't receive. Scheduling a consult was a full week out....and to get a full quote is 2 months out. They sound very busy. Their in-stock cupboards are cheap and flimsy. Upgrade? Not even for our builder's grade junk. I hate threading my way around extra pop-out displays littering the isles...on the sides, down the crowded middle lane, etc. read more

I was warned not to bother going to Home Depot for any appliances or machines...I should have listened. We went to buy a riding lawnmower. We chose one and were never told it did not come with a grass catcher, or a warranty. Worse, we were asked if we were going to lload it into our car and we could not because it is too big. I asked the lady if it was put together or in a box, she stated all put together in the back. We asked for delivery and it was set up for today, Monday. We were also told there was not delivery charge, but were charged $79. We got a call last night that it is in a box. We cannot assemble it. Was told later, it is out of stock, and the grass catcher is $300 more dollars. This was so upsetting. We received 6 calls from them with worse and worse news. Finally, told husband to cancel and refund money. In the meantime, our lawn is getting taller and taller.and our dogs will not pee on it because it tickles their tummies. Was told HD is a travesty before going...looked like it was not going to be an issue, but was told at times it takes 3-4 months to get an item and instead of fixing THAT issue, they offer some money back. Really? Customer Service is the key to repeat customers....and for anything big, my choice is Lowes. At least they are honest with you from the beginning. Bought a washer and dryer. The first delivery the washer arrived damaged. Refused delivery. The second delivery the washer looked like it had been dropped. Refused delivery. Third delivery (almost a month later) the washer had cosmetic damage so I finally said ok since I needed a working washer and dryer. Contacted Home Depot and they said "Call LG since they handle delivery." Called LG and they said "you bought it at Home Depot. Call them". Went into the store and the customer service person said "you bought it online so there's nothing we can do". They obviously couldn't care less. Not the Home Depot of old. I moved into a new house and immediately looked into options for re-keying the doors. I contacted a few places on Yelp, but it was expensive to have someone come out to change one lock. I read online that some Home Depot offered re-keying services and when I called, Jerome in the hardware department said that he'd be glad to help us out and that we could ask for him by name when we got there. When we got to the store, he cheerfully helped us find the right parts and replaced the necessary parts in the lock. If you don't accept Apple Pay then you should not advertise that you do. I had forgot my wallet but had my phone. So, checked online and was released to see the HD accepts Apple Pay and I can grab the parts needed with out making a return trip. When I got to check out I learned no dice. Apple Pay not accepted. The cashier was apologetic and mentioned that he doesn't know why the leave that advertised on the door when they don't have the capability to accept Apple Pay. I am disappointed in this location's desire to resolve an issue we've experienced with one of their approved flooring contractors, HŌM Solutions. To date, we have yet to receive a response for our request to have the installation labor of our laminate flooring refunded (total of $220). We are asking for the refund because we had to repair and finish the work ourselves. HŌM Solutions did install the flooring but left it incomplete and damaged for 6 days before sending another installer to our home to finish. In the end, we had to finish the installation and will have to live with some of the damage. The only thing Home Depot has offered to 'make things right' is to refund us for material that was not provided and labor costs to move appliances which we performed. What's worse is the local customer service representative's response was "It's a remodel, you can't expect everything to go right!" I agree with that in regards to scheduling and availability, but in the end, we paid for professional installation and received much less. I have since sent three emails with the case number assigned by Home Depot's customer care team without response. My assumption is The Home Depot doesn't care enough to even respond with a "No" answer. We are very disappointed as we have been shopping at this location since it opened. read more

One of the better Home Depot locations I've visited. The staff here actually acknowledges you and offers to help you find things, rather than other stores where you have to hunt them down and have them just point in the direction to find the items. Big location in a strip mall up the street from "downtown" Covington. Nearby are a few restaurants for when you've worn yourself out from shopping, and a hospital for your heart attack when you see how much money you've spent to remodel your home haha. Large parking lot, plenty of spaces. Huge garden section, lots of plants, yard decor, patio furniture, stones/bricks, garden accessories, dirt, trees, etc... The sod we were interested in, as it was a good deal, was like completely dead though, so that kinda sucked. The plants all looked healthy though, and reasonably priced. Excited to come back to this location to get products for our new house as I feel we will actually be welcomed and helped here. They also have super cute carts dedicated for bringing your dog - makes me wanna bring my furbaby next time I come! They are adorably decorated, some also have flooring so that little dogs legs don't slip through. Very friendly cashiers as well, gave us a free coupon book! read more

I was requested by Home Depot to give a review on the Covington store and I was very candid in telling them that they had a very good store, well stocked, helpful employees ... but they also had a rogue in there that has a credit card skimmer on one of their machines ! ... because 2 of my credit cards were hacked right after being used at that home depot -- the only thing common with the two credit cards from 2 different banks are The Home Depot purchases ... so home depot wrote back and told me that they had "rejected" my review ... so I decided to put it on Yelp! ...so beware of your credit card, make sure you keep tabs on your account after using it there -- they have a weasel. read more

This is how Home Depot wants to send out drywall 12-foot seats with only two sticks underneath. So it's hanging off and touching the ground and sheets are visibly broken. This happened due to lack of proper packaging on their end. And when I talk to them there. Dawn and Dustin their solution was they could Reschedule, but it could take a couple days. I am a 77 year-old widow who recently bought a new washer and dryer from Home Depot, which was delivered by Temco Logistics, the delivery company they use, on Friday, December 16th. The delivery men were polite and, I thought, efficient. After they left, however, I discovered that we had no hot water, and the gas range wouldn't light. I went out and discovered that the gas was turned off at the meter, so I got a wrench and turned it back on. Then I went downstairs where the tankless water heater is located, and an error code was flashing. I tried pushing the reset and power on/off button to no avail, so I called Home Depot, and at first, they said a plumber would come on Monday I said that was unacceptable, and after 45 minutes, they said someone would come out that day, which did happen, and he was able to restart the water heater. He also discovered that the delivery guys had forgotten to turn the gas to the dryer back on, so he did that. On Saturday, we found out that the pilot light on the gas fireplace, which provides the only heat for my deaf daughter downstairs, was also out. Neither of us was able to get it lit, so I called Home Depot again, and after another extended wait, was told that Temco's only responsibility was to ensure gas to the dryer and they would not come out again. I had to get a handyman to come out on a Saturday to light that pilot light. I am a most unhappy camper, and assure you I will never buy another major appliance from Home Depot, and have told everyone I know about this. read more

Had stopped here to grab some plants for a family member thinking it would just be a normal, uneventful trip to Home Depot. But unfortunately it became very uncomfortable and infuriating when I was walking out and witnessed an employee (looked like maybe security?) stopping two men demanding he show them their receipt and come back into the store with him. Now I had seen these men at the online pickup area as it was next to the garden section and an employee was helping them load their order into the cart, completely normal. The way the security man spoke to the men was uncalled for, wrong and completely inappropriate. I understand doing your job but don't hunt down the only non white people walking out of your store. I read some of the other reviews and was surprised. Compared to the Kent Home Depot this place has been heaven. It is about 3x as far from my house but worth it. The people have been friendly amd helpful. I don't expect them to know jack about what things are for but they can get me in the right place...and I mean they will TAKE you to where you need to go. At Kent they just kinda point and give you an aisle number...even if it is wrong. For a box store it is pretty good. It is like the old saying...you know what that wite speck on chicken poo is? Poo. My dryer finally bit the dust and I went to Home Depot to look at options. I don't know anything about picking out a washer and dryer, but they promptly helped me figure out which features were important to me and get my new units (and all the extra stuff) on order. It took about a month to get them since everything was still backed up from the holidays and the pandemic, but not any longer than I expected. The delivery guys were great and super fast. I work for a very large Seattle area construction company and have a company card. I'm required to submit receipts for tax audit purposes. If I don't turn one in, it comes out of my paycheck. I lost two Home Depot receipts last week, for almost $400 combined, so I was going to have to go to each of the two stores to get them. These stores are on the opposite ends of the Seattle area, where traffic is horrific. This would have been a 3-4 trip, minimum, and not the way to spend a weekend day. I was shopping at the Covington store and as I was checking out, I figured I'd ask if they could print my receipts, despite being a different store. The guy at customer service called a manager, Ian. When I told Ian what I wanted, he said he didn't know how to do that, but he would try. What a CHAMP! It would have been SO easy to just say, "oh, sorry, I can't do that." I would not have known. It wouldn't have made me mad at him or Home Depot. But he didn't. He spent the time to figure out how to find my receipts with the info I had (date, store, amount, card), and print them for me. The way I look at it is this: Ian spent 10-15 min of his time to give me back my entire Sunday. I hope your District Manager (or whoever is above you) sees this and gives you a raise, promotion, or pat on the back. Maybe all three. read more

Never, never, pick up an order that you placed on line at the Covington store customer service desk. These dimwits don't bother to check if the item they are giving you is NOT a previous return. I trusted them to give me an unopened new item when I purchased it on line for pick up at this location and in so did not check up after them, which seems to be needed considering their inability discern new vs used. Xmas eve when wrapping presents, I noticed that the packaging had been re-taped. I opened the box and saw that the items which all were in individual plastic bags had been opened and lay spilled out in the box. It was obvious that this item had been previously purchased and returned as the tick marks where one would tear open the individual plastic bags had been ripped open. The canvas bag that came with the item was dirty and smudged. Wonderful! Great Xmas gift - a dirty used tool. Each time I deal with this store it is a nightmare. I have shopped other Home depot stores and none can match the incompetence that runs rampant at the Covington store. Floor staff that can't direct you to the proper location in the store, lumber personal that take forever to arrive to cut lumber for you, plumbing staff that can't answer the simplest question without acting as if they are being put out to mention, only a few things that await customers at this store. Oh, but then they have "dog carts" so I suppose that exonerates any of the staff from providing proper customer service. This is the epitome of a nightmare big box store. Why did I return? We bought a gas stove and microwave. They installed the stove but said the microwave needed a special install because of the way it's mounted. The install rep said get your deliver fee back and he'd swing by and do it for cash. I bought 18 rebars of 2 feet (0.61 m) each, but I have been charged for 18 rebars of 20 feet (ca. 6 m) each. When I found this mistake it was finally fixed, but neither the cashier who made a mistake, nor her manager said 'sorry to me'. read more
