This review is only for their pizza. I've been here a few times and have dined in as well as gotten take out. We've tried the Most Loyal as well as the Best Dressed. The Most Loyal is an interesting mix of chicken, pesto, and honey (it works, trust me!). And the Best Dressed is a Meat Lovers' Paradise. The large size is definitely the better deal and is enough to feed two very hungry people. The reason for the 3 stars is inconsistency. Sometimes the pizzas have toppings piled on and are hot and fresh. Other times, half of the pizza is crust and the toppings are slim. This place has the potential to be very good. The prices are right and the flavors are good. If they focus a bit more on providing consistently good pizzas, then this would be a 5-star establishment for sure! read more

We're from out of town, so maybe it's just a culture clash. The seating arrangement seems to just be wild west style, so that was frustrating with a tired family at the end of a day of driving. Zero help or information from service members, so Ok. We ended up ordering the pizzas to go, and bringing them back to the hotel. Ended up being a solid Focaccia style pizza. None of the chew or crunch or quality the other reviews led me to believe. Not bad at all, but I've had and made far better. This was a solid 3 star pizza in the end. Trust me, I don't like a soggy pizza doused in oil. They offer small or large. I can split the small with a friend for a late night snack or I can order the large with a friend and still take home leftovers. They have pizza types to choose from or you can make your own. NEVER COME WHEN IT'S RAINING AND BUSY. I've been here twice, the first time was great. Great food, great drinks! I also happen to LOVE the Trophy on Maywood. However me and my girlfriend came to this location on a Saturday afternoon and rain was in the forecast. If you didn't know, seating is first come first serve. It hadn't started raining yet, but there was no seating anywhere indoors. So we waited around to try to grab a seat but no matter what, it seemed other people just were in the right place at the right time. So we got tired of waiting, sat down outdoors, and placed an order for two beers and an appetizer. It started raining so we had to get up and literally stand inside with our waters while looking for seating. And even though we've already put in an order, newcomers were coming in and finding seats because they were able to get there faster than us. The staff doesn't really care if you find a seat or not, they are way too busy trying to run around fulfilling people's orders. I get that this is a tricky situation, but I feel like if you've already placed an order, you should have priority to get a seat when it's raining outside. But that's not the case. We politely told our server that we couldn't find seating, and he understood so we left. Don't come here in these circumstances, it's not worth the trouble. The ambience of this place couldn't be better - a generally happy crowd, great, friendly staff and ample space for groups - and couples, if you head here on date night. Be sure to get small pizzas to share if you are new; it's almost impossible to pick just one. And if you're hungry AF, get a large one...and save the rest..mmmm. I learned about this place because I applied for one of their brewing jobs. As a brewer, I can judge beer really well, and they are absolutely amazing. We tried a few of their beers, all were pretty spot on. What attracted me to this place is that they get a little experimental with their beers as well. They have a Salted Caramel beer, and a Tart beer brewed with Guava. I really love to see breweries experiment. You are only limited by your imagination... and then you get to go brew it. Love this place! It's not the friendliest or most social of the breweries in this area, but the beer and food were outstanding. We ordered the Local Celebrity and Dare Devil pizzas- YUM. I can't describe how good these pizzas are. The Local Celeb literally melts in your mouth. If you're a fan of a spicy pie, the Dare Devil is also fantastic! As for the beer, we got some deliciously unfiltered beer. I was in heaven! The Outta this Galaxy was superb as was the Brett hopped Saison! Love the brewery and our server was awesome. However, the Detroit style pizza is hit or miss. I've been twice and the first time was amazing. The second time I came for it, it had no cheese at all and the manager (who didn't talk to us directly or even look at it) argued that there's cheese curds on the crust? Not only was the pizza sauce and bread only, I'll let you look up the Detroit style pizza and let me know if it mentions cheese curds. Overall a very disappointing experience, and will be sticking to their normal menu pizzas from now on. I'm surprised I haven't written a rave review for Trophy in the past. It's tough to pick a favorite brewery in this area when there are so many great ones. Trophy is a top contender, mostly because of its pizza. Though I also often enjoy whatever seasonal saison they have available (most recently it was a pineapple saison). The pizza here is delicious. They have great variety in flavors, which is what I look for in pizza outside of the New York/New Jersey area. Most recently I had the Most Loyal. I don't know how they thought of pesto and honey (perhaps this is common and I wasn't aware) but it's absolutely divine. I think my other favorite is Most Outgoing. Ever so tasty. Came here to celebrate a friend's birthday and was a great choice. I only wish I took more photos to show off the food. We shared some gnocchi and arancini and both were delicious. Both salty in the best ways and super flavorful. The arancini had a spicy kick to them which was perfect. We shared small pizzas and my favorite was by far the best dressed. The lamb sausage meat mixed perfectly with cheese with a perfectly crisp crust. My husband loved the pumpernickel draft and I fell in love with the blood orange sangria. Stopped by for a late dinner after an awfully delayed flight! I was hungry, exhausted and JUST SO HAPPY to see a brewery that served up pizza! And Trophy Brewing Company did not disappoint! The service was friendly and quick- we were asked to grab a seat and since it was past 10 PM, we had no issues finding one. Our server checked in on us multiple times and was friendly! Trust me, I stopped by with the intention of grabbing a beer, but when I got there- I saw that they offered a Gin Cocktail Cucumber Thyme- with soda in it- it sounded intriguing enough to make me want to try it! It was a delicious Mocktail because it definitely didn't have much Gin. But honestly I deserve that for ordering a cocktail at a brewery! I have to say though- it was delicious enough to make me consider ordering a second one! Now on to the pizza- we got the large Margherita pizza for 19$. It was HUGE! I barely got through a slice. It's more than enough to feed 3 hungry adults! It tasted divine! The cheese was just perfect! The ambiance, late at night, is perfect for a date night. When we turned up, incidentally, there were only 3-4 couples. I can see this being a popular hangout space for larger groups during busier nights though! Parking was easy to find since there's parking all around the building! So why did I take a star away if everything was perfect? I saw a cockroach crawling up the wall across from us when we were almost done with dinner. I CANNOT stand cockroaches and am deadly afraid of them. So I was just rushing to be done with dinner ASAP so we could leave, once I spotted that roach. The pizza was not to my taste. I'm not going to say it was bad because it wasn't bad in any objective way but I didn't like it. The worst part about the experience was the poor service. I liked our waiter, he seemed like a nice guy, but apparently he forgot to give our order to the kitchen so it took an hour for us to get our food. It seemed he was brand new at the job and hadn't received any training so I don't think it's his fault. There were people who had come in after us that were ready to leave by the time we got our food. Usually a restaurant would offer to comp your drinks or part of your meal for such a big screw up but they didn't offer anything. And then the waitress who was supposed to bring us our check got sidetracked chit-chatting with some other customers so we ended up waiting about 15 minutes or so to get our check. Great new brewery of Raleigh! Trophy was started by a home brewer and has great potential. While it's small now(capacity is apparently only 14) they are already in the process to expand including a kitchen and a patio. The brewing room is small which accommodates their specialty brews. The bar covers the theme of trophies with the pulls on the taps being trophies as well as trophies all along the walls. The beer itself is really good. They have a peanut butter banana double which I wasn't sure of at first but turned out to be pretty good. It has just a hint of peanut butter. They also have a coffee stout which definitely had a strong coffee taste. I don't normally like dark beers but I could see myself drinking both of these. The cezan with a hint of apricot was my favorite out if all that I tried. It was definitely worth the wait outside in the cold to try this place out. I will hopefully make it back soon and can't wait to see what it's like after the expansion. read more

Trophy Brewing Company is the perfect place to grab delicious beers and equally delicious pizzas. They really do both of those things so well. My favorite pizza is Best Dressed, which includes pepperoni, bacon, and lamb sausage. I never thought of lamb sausage on a pizza, but I'm sure glad they thought of it. The crust is so crispy, too. My current favorite beer is Best in Show. It's been very busy every time I have ventured there, and it can be quite crowded. A good strategy is to post up at the bar and wait for seats to come available. I find the service at the bar to be great. Even with the crowds they are quick and attentive. I brought my fiancé there because I knew he'd love the beer (he did), the pizza (he did), and the trophies that cover the shelves (yup, he did). We originally hoped to sit outside on the new patio and listen to live music, but it was totally full out there. I do hope to experience that soon sometime. read more

Is this where Greg Focker's mediocre-performance trophies came to die? I think not, although they do make for interesting decor, as well as cool beer taps. After a long day of flight debacles and missed dinner, I headed straight here from the airport to stuff myself silly with one of their highly-praised pizzas. In my case, it ended up being an 18" 'Daredevil' pie, which turned up the temp on an already comfortable evening with ghost chili pepper salami, fire roasted tomato sauce, mozzarella, fresh jalapeno peppers, caramelized onions and siracha. Althought it was a little pricey and I knew I wouldn't finish the whole thing, the only other option is small 9" pie. Plus, I realized my lunch for the next day would be taken care of by ordering big and eating half of it in one sitting. Naturally, I also had to try one of their local microbrews to cool down my self-imposed heat wave. The friendly bartender was nice enough to let me sample a couple of the taps before I decided on the "Best in Show," a light, refresing and sweet American Saison. I just wish I could've grabbed a seat on their outdoor patio to enjoy the nice weather instead of eating inside. Regardless, I really lenjoyed the TBC. Jack Burns would definitely approve! read more

The only thing Trophy lacks is enough space to fit all of their fans in there at once. Tucked away in a building off Morgan Street in downtown Raleigh, Trophy Brewing Company brews some of the tastiest beers that Raleigh has to offer. There is ample parking around the building and on the street, which is a bonus for DTR. Trophy brews their own beer in house, and they don't have a large enough building to make enough beer to sell locally (YET!). Now about their beer... OMG. YUM! Their saison is the most tastiest in all the land, and they always have several of their brews to sample. I think they're around $5 for a 10-12oz pour, and you can refill your 32oz growler for $9. Too bad they don't sell pitchers! :( When you walk in on a Saturday night, you can't hear any music because it's quite noisy in there, but hey.. who goes to a brewery to have a quiet drink & pizza? Speaking of pizza, they have 6-8 different kinds of pizza that rotate each night, and they're all made from organic and fresh ingredients. Trophy is one of those places that it's hard to dislike. It's a small, local brewery with friendly bar staff and a unique location. However the building itself can be it's own worst enemy. Since Trophy is still in its brand new business phase everyone wants to check it out meaning a small space fills up fast. It took me three tries before I was able to get in and enjoy a beer without what looked like a wait and even then the place was packed two rows deep at the bar. I'd estimate there was roughly 35 patrons. See the problem? The good news is as the 'newest' wears off there should be more room. There is also more space is in the works in the form of a patio. Solid choice for beer - creative and tasty brews. I recently had the Coffee Porter, and it was delicious. Their beers don't suffer from the watered down taste that a lot of small breweries do (in my opinion). They are always full of flavor. Pizzas and Salads are phenomenal. I don't even know what else to say about either. They usually feature a special salad and pizza each night. I've not had anything bad here. For a craft experience all around, this place is awesome. Only minor note, you have to fight for your own table here. Be sure to arrive a little earlier than you want to eat as there is usually a crowd at peak times here. I have been meaning to stop in at this establishment for a while now and while on our visit through Raleigh, we made the time and got there right when they opened. It was already pretty busy when we got there so we snagged a spot at the bar. This place specializes in beer and pizza, nothing wrong with that. The bartender was friendly and new his stuff. He recommended we start with the sampler, so we did. Beer: The sampler came with Teacher's Pet (IPA), Rose Gose (Rosemary Gose Brew), Slingshot Coffee Porter, and Best in Show (Saison). The IPA was good, but nothing that special. The Rosemary Gose was really good. Solid Tartness and a hint of rosemary. It was an unlikely combination that was really good. The Porter was outstanding. Strong coffee taste with a hint of chocolate in it with a smooth finish.The Saison was really good as well with a solid taste of grapefruit and citrus. We then moved on to the Milky Way which was a stout that was smoke, chocolately deliciousness. I really liked this beer. Food: The pizzas all sounded amazing and we ended up going with the Most Loyal Pizza, which had basil pesto, herb roasted chicken breast, mozzarella blend, roma tomato, and honey. It was outstanding. Overall, this place was amazing. The beers were really, really good and the pizza was awesome. I highly recommend stopping in here for a brew. My first Trophy experience took place shortly after a great vacation to San Francisco, and that evening of beer flights and rustic pizzas on an open air patio felt so reminiscent of our West Coast experience that my wanderlust was temporarily appeased. The beer crafted in Trophy's back rooms ranges from classic styles to more creative concoctions (last night we sampled a cream ale, a peach saison, and a rosemary infused gose). In the warmer months, the patio provides plenty of seating, but on cold or rainy days, this can be a challenge. I say it's worth the wait, though. Pizzas come in personal or sharing sizes, and the salads are ample enough as an entree or to share. The cheese board selections are typically tasty and unique and pair well with the beer selection. As mentioned, the atmosphere is extremely satisfying - rustic, energetic, and cozy. Service was attentive without being overbearing, friendly without being sit-at-your-table-and-pretend-to-be-besties friendly. I hereby award Trophy one of those giant, multi-tiered, taller-than-you-are with multiple plastic gold figurines trophies for excellence in dining and drinking experiences. Congrats, you guys! You will come to Trophy Brewing for the beer, but you will stay for the incredible pizza. I had been meaning to try this place for a while and my memory was jogged when I saw it made a list for the best pizza in NC. Me and my lunch partner arrived on a Friday right as it was opening at 3:00. To our surprise there were already some customers bellied up to the bar. Let me say upfront that this place is very small. I can't imagine being there at a peak time. I'm sure it gets packed. We opted for a spot at the bar. I'm a huge craft beer lover and had never tried any of their offerings so I ordered the flight. The flight came with 4 beer samples and costs $9, which I thought was pricey for a sampler. The flight came with the Best in Show (a saison), the Scout's Honor (a coconut and caramel lager), the Head of the Class (an IPA), and a Slingshot Coffee Porter. I wasn't blown away by any of the beers, but they were all solid to slightly above average. I think the Slingshot Coffee Porter is probably the standout. For our meal we decided to go with the Daredevil. This pizza came topped with ghost chili pepper salami, fresh jalapeños, caramelized onions and sriracha. I barely had to glance at the menu before I knew what I wanted. I'm a fan of spice and with those ingredients this promised to give me just that. We went with the large, which was $20 I thought that was a little pricey, but they were big slices and we ended up making 2 more meals out of it. The pizza came out and it did not disappoint. If I were rating this place just based on the pizza it would be a 5 star all day! The pizza came out piping hot both in terms of heat and spice level. That ghost chili pepper salami really packs a punch and will have you reaching for the water. I think that it has a good level of spice without being unbearable though. The crust on their pizza is awesome. It is a thin to medium crust that is cooked to perfection. Has a nice crunch to it and isn't too hard. It also has a sweet quality to it almost like there is some cinnamon sugar in there. This is just some really well done pizza. I was disappointed with our service. As I said above, we sat at the bar. The bartender seemed annoyed that we were there from the beginning. He wasn't helpful with beer or food selections at all. He also seemed impatient with us taking too long to order, which is ridiculous considering we ordered both food and drink within 5 minutes. He kept the waters full, but did nothing beyond that. We weren't the only ones. It seemed like he just had a bad attitude towards everyone. This is the only employee that I interacted with, and I hope his attitude doesn't reflect the attitude of the establishment as a whole. I will be thinking about this pizza until the next time I head to Raleigh. I will be back despite the poor service the first time. I was a Raleighite during my NC State years, and recently had the good fortune to return. It's been awesome to find experiences like Trophy Brewing. Moving from Hillsborough where my addiction to craft beer was fed by Mystery Brewing, this is filling a void and making me quite happy. Don't be turned off my the small, a little cramped space, it's truly a gem. The large pizza is HUGE (but the way my hunger is set up, I can kill it), and they use the freshest, best ingredients and have great flavor combos. For example, I would have never thought to put Siracha on a pizza, but it's excellent. Unfortunately, I haven't tried the desserts and I always want to because they look so good on Instagram. Also, Ive only tried the Best in Show beer and I loved it. So that just means, I need to visit more. One problem? I ordered the lamb pizza ( it was delicious) but I didn't realize it would be ground lamb and not shaved. Only reason it was a problem was because I accidentally ate my boyfriend's meat free slice and I had to pick the lamb off. :-( would have been easier if it was shaved. I love the ambience and that they are open late, but I have never been wowed by the pizza here as others have been. It is really dry, and never has all the toppings as advertised. Last night we picked up the special pizza which was described as "sweet potato base, caramelized onions, pecans, grape tomatoes, arugula, black pepper, chile-honey finish." It was the worst "pizza" I have eaten, there were no caramelized onions nor was there a chile-honey finish.
