We're from out of town, so maybe it's just a culture clash. The seating arrangement seems to just be wild west style, so that was frustrating with a tired family at the end of a day of driving. Zero help or information from service members, so Ok. We ended up ordering the pizzas to go, and bringing them back to the hotel. Ended up being a solid Focaccia style pizza. None of the chew or crunch or quality the other reviews led me to believe. Not bad at all, but I've had and made far better. This was a solid 3 star pizza in the end. If I'm ever in the mood for pizza, my mind jumps straight to Trophy. They do pizza right. The crust is not too thin or thick. It has just the right amount of drippy ooey gooey pizza oil. Trust me, I don't like a soggy pizza doused in oil. They offer small or large. I can split the small with a friend for a late night snack or I can order the large with a friend and still take home leftovers. They have pizza types to choose from or you can make your own. The first thing our waitress said to us was that they were first and foremost a brewery. With that being said we didn't expect the pizza to be very good but wow they were both incredible. NEVER COME WHEN IT'S RAINING AND BUSY. I've been here twice, the first time was great. Great food, great drinks! I also happen to LOVE the Trophy on Maywood. However me and my girlfriend came to this location on a Saturday afternoon and rain was in the forecast. If you didn't know, seating is first come first serve. It hadn't started raining yet, but there was no seating anywhere indoors. So we waited around to try to grab a seat but no matter what, it seemed other people just were in the right place at the right time. So we got tired of waiting, sat down outdoors, and placed an order for two beers and an appetizer. It started raining so we had to get up and literally stand inside with our waters while looking for seating. And even though we've already put in an order, newcomers were coming in and finding seats because they were able to get there faster than us. The staff doesn't really care if you find a seat or not, they are way too busy trying to run around fulfilling people's orders. I get that this is a tricky situation, but I feel like if you've already placed an order, you should have priority to get a seat when it's raining outside. But that's not the case. We politely told our server that we couldn't find seating, and he understood so we left. Don't come here in these circumstances, it's not worth the trouble. The ambience of this place couldn't be better - a generally happy crowd, great, friendly staff and ample space for groups - and couples, if you head here on date night. Be sure to get small pizzas to share if you are new; it's almost impossible to pick just one. And if you're hungry AF, get a large one...and save the rest..mmmm. I learned about this place because I applied for one of their brewing jobs. As a brewer, I can judge beer really well, and they are absolutely amazing. We tried a few of their beers, all were pretty spot on. What attracted me to this place is that they get a little experimental with their beers as well. They have a Salted Caramel beer, and a Tart beer brewed with Guava. I really love to see breweries experiment. You are only limited by your imagination... and then you get to go brew it. As far as pizza, their pizzas were really good! I had the Most Loyal. Maybe it's a Northern states thing, but I have never had chicken and honey. Love Trophy! I'm so happy to see how much they've grown! This one is definitely my favorite of the three. The pizza is out of this world! I would say if you want a greasy slice this is not the place to go. Trophy pizza is kind of like craft pizza (if that exists). Fresh, unique ingredients. Personally I'm a fan of the Best Dressed and Daredevil. They also make a great Pimm's Cup, very refreshing! Love this place! It's not the friendliest or most social of the breweries in this area, but the beer and food were outstanding. We ordered the Local Celebrity and Dare Devil pizzas- YUM. I can't describe how good these pizzas are. The Local Celeb literally melts in your mouth. If you're a fan of a spicy pie, the Dare Devil is also fantastic! As for the beer, we got some deliciously unfiltered beer. I was in heaven! The Outta this Galaxy was superb as was the Brett hopped Saison! Love the brewery and our server was awesome. However, the Detroit style pizza is hit or miss. I've been twice and the first time was amazing. The second time I came for it, it had no cheese at all and the manager (who didn't talk to us directly or even look at it) argued that there's cheese curds on the crust? Not only was the pizza sauce and bread only, I'll let you look up the Detroit style pizza and let me know if it mentions cheese curds. Overall a very disappointing experience, and will be sticking to their normal menu pizzas from now on. I would recommend benchwarmers pizza (only available on Thursday, Friday & Saturday nights) instead. read more

I'm surprised I haven't written a rave review for Trophy in the past. It's tough to pick a favorite brewery in this area when there are so many great ones. Trophy is a top contender, mostly because of its pizza. Though I also often enjoy whatever seasonal saison they have available (most recently it was a pineapple saison). The pizza here is delicious. They have great variety in flavors, which is what I look for in pizza outside of the New York/New Jersey area. Most recently I had the Most Loyal. I don't know how they thought of pesto and honey (perhaps this is common and I wasn't aware) but it's absolutely divine. I think my other favorite is Most Outgoing. This is one of my go-to places when someone visits from out of town. Don't forget to check out Wednesday night run club, partnered with the Y. It's one of my favorites! read more

But, i have to say, i did find one that may have just hit my favorite list and that is the Cuccumber Loner!!! *eyes roll into head* The aromatics alone make me look at it with a lost sense of passion i never knew i had!! Ever so tasty. Came here to celebrate a friend's birthday and was a great choice. I only wish I took more photos to show off the food. We shared some gnocchi and arancini and both were delicious. Both salty in the best ways and super flavorful. The arancini had a spicy kick to them which was perfect. We shared small pizzas and my favorite was by far the best dressed. The lamb sausage meat mixed perfectly with cheese with a perfectly crisp crust. My husband loved the pumpernickel draft and I fell in love with the blood orange sangria. After a bike ride or if you are just craving a pizza, this is a good place to come. 1) The best pizza is the Daredevil. It's spicy and savory. This was the first one I tried here and it was greatness. There are others have have tried which were good but this one is my favorite. 2) The staff is very nice to everyone. I can't tell you how many times you go to a pizza place and staff don't care about you. At Trophy you don't have to worry about that. 3) The bathrooms are clean. 4) You get to choose whether or not you want to sit outside. Speaking of outside, parking is around the back. 5) I cannot drink the beer but my boyfriend says it's good. You can have a gluten free crust if you need one too. 6) Everyone is welcoming here meaning it is a kid friendly environment. Stopped by for a late dinner after an awfully delayed flight! I was hungry, exhausted and JUST SO HAPPY to see a brewery that served up pizza! And Trophy Brewing Company did not disappoint! The service was friendly and quick- we were asked to grab a seat and since it was past 10 PM, we had no issues finding one. Our server checked in on us multiple times and was friendly! Trust me, I stopped by with the intention of grabbing a beer, but when I got there- I saw that they offered a Gin Cocktail Cucumber Thyme- with soda in it- it sounded intriguing enough to make me want to try it! It was a delicious Mocktail because it definitely didn't have much Gin. But honestly I deserve that for ordering a cocktail at a brewery! I have to say though- it was delicious enough to make me consider ordering a second one! Now on to the pizza- we got the large Margherita pizza for 19$. It was HUGE! I barely got through a slice. It's more than enough to feed 3 hungry adults! It tasted divine! The cheese was just perfect! The ambiance, late at night, is perfect for a date night. When we turned up, incidentally, there were only 3-4 couples. I can see this being a popular hangout space for larger groups during busier nights though! Parking was easy to find since there's parking all around the building! So why did I take a star away if everything was perfect? I saw a cockroach crawling up the wall across from us when we were almost done with dinner. I CANNOT stand cockroaches and am deadly afraid of them. So I was just rushing to be done with dinner ASAP so we could leave, once I spotted that roach. Once it disappeared out of sight I didn't have the energy to call someone and point it out since it had crawled away amongst their many trophies, but maybe I should have. read more

The pizza was not to my taste. I'm not going to say it was bad because it wasn't bad in any objective way but I didn't like it. The worst part about the experience was the poor service. I liked our waiter, he seemed like a nice guy, but apparently he forgot to give our order to the kitchen so it took an hour for us to get our food. It seemed he was brand new at the job and hadn't received any training so I don't think it's his fault. There were people who had come in after us that were ready to leave by the time we got our food. Usually a restaurant would offer to comp your drinks or part of your meal for such a big screw up but they didn't offer anything. And then the waitress who was supposed to bring us our check got sidetracked chit-chatting with some other customers so we ended up waiting about 15 minutes or so to get our check. It wasn't a good experience and I wouldn't go back. read more

I love the ambience and that they are open late, but I have never been wowed by the pizza here as others have been. It is really dry, and never has all the toppings as advertised. Last night we picked up the special pizza which was described as "sweet potato base, caramelized onions, pecans, grape tomatoes, arugula, black pepper, chile-honey finish." It was the worst "pizza" I have eaten, there were no caramelized onions nor was there a chile-honey finish. Just a regular honey finish :\ It ended up tasting like a dessert because it was so sweet and randomly had a bunch of arugula on it. I will still return for the beer as it is a great hang out place, but probably continue to pass on the pizza. read more

One of my go-to places in Raleigh. The pizza is great and the beer is even better. They also usually have some great cocktails. It's usually packed on weekend nights, but they are taking over the space next door to help with that. The Best Dressed is definitely my favorite pizza, but I would probably eat any of them. As a recent transplant from Miami, being surrounded by tons of delicious pizza places, I was legitimately considering relocating due to lack of yummy pizza in this city! My husband and I even contemplated opening a franchise of our favorite pizza place we were THAT desperate! But, my cousin recommended trophy brewing and thank you Jesus! First, I love that you sit on their deck and get some fresh air! Our waitress was super sweet and helpful in making choices. My husband and I ordered the large best dressed pizza and asked for 1/2 with no meat. We also added olives. It was DELICIOUS! The toppings are fresh. The sauce is well seasoned. The crust is the perfect thickness (thin so I can eat more pizza, duh!). They don't put an insane amount of cheese either, which I prefer. I also ordered the arugula salad and it was fresh and delicious too! My husband had a beer flight and was happy as a clam. He ate the leftovers the next day and wanted to go back! I had to show some restraint and told him we have to be adults and can't eat pizza 2 dinners in a row haha We will definitely be back and bringing friends to enjoy with us! read more

It's a little pricey for the size of the personal pizza. I would not call it family friendly. Mostly for the after work or hipster crowd and not good for kids. Great new brewery of Raleigh! Trophy was started by a home brewer and has great potential. While it's small now(capacity is apparently only 14) they are already in the process to expand including a kitchen and a patio. The brewing room is small which accommodates their specialty brews. The bar covers the theme of trophies with the pulls on the taps being trophies as well as trophies all along the walls. The beer itself is really good. They have a peanut butter banana double which I wasn't sure of at first but turned out to be pretty good. It has just a hint of peanut butter. They also have a coffee stout which definitely had a strong coffee taste. I don't normally like dark beers but I could see myself drinking both of these. The cezan with a hint of apricot was my favorite out if all that I tried. It was definitely worth the wait outside in the cold to try this place out. I will hopefully make it back soon and can't wait to see what it's like after the expansion. read more

Trophy Brewing Company is the perfect place to grab delicious beers and equally delicious pizzas. They really do both of those things so well. My favorite pizza is Best Dressed, which includes pepperoni, bacon, and lamb sausage. I never thought of lamb sausage on a pizza, but I'm sure glad they thought of it. The crust is so crispy, too. My current favorite beer is Best in Show. It's been very busy every time I have ventured there, and it can be quite crowded. A good strategy is to post up at the bar and wait for seats to come available. I find the service at the bar to be great. Even with the crowds they are quick and attentive. I brought my fiancé there because I knew he'd love the beer (he did), the pizza (he did), and the trophies that cover the shelves (yup, he did). We originally hoped to sit outside on the new patio and listen to live music, but it was totally full out there. I do hope to experience that soon sometime. read more

I really loved this place! The beer was really good: it had a ton of flavor. There were 5 beers on tap, I had the Sweet Potato Saison (Taters Gonna Tate, haha!) and my boo had one of the porters. We drink a lot of beer, but these are pretty memorable brews. The pizza was awesome too: We looked through Yelp pics and I really wanted the Most Outgoing, but it wasn't on the menu... but then I asked and they made it for me! Really good pizza too. Much more than you would expect from a small business that specializes is both beer and pizza. Usually one is mediocre.. but not here both are excellent. Atmosphere: Tons of outdoor seating, maybe even more than indoor and it can accommodate larger groups. We saw a few groups of 6+ coming to each lunch. We came here for the beer but I was mainly impressed with the food! Okay, let's be real, I was also impressed with the beer. We had an appetizer of poutine that reminded me of Canada (but with tater tots) then proceeded to order half of the menu. The smoked chicken with polenta was a piece of art - smoky, a little sweet from the corn, texture with the polenta and a little salty from the bacon. However their short ribs, shrimp and grits and tacos were also delicious and no one left hungry (those portions were huge). I also loved my Trophy Husband Saison and enjoyed tasting the Bob+Weave and a Pina Colada beer that they had as a special. Someone else at our table got an IPA which he said was really tasty (I'll take his word for it since I'm not a big fan of IPA's). Finally the service - possibly my favorite waiter I've had at a restaurant. Ever. He was hilarious and fast but never made us feel rushed. I wish every waiter was more like this guy! Is this where Greg Focker's mediocre-performance trophies came to die? I think not, although they do make for interesting decor, as well as cool beer taps. After a long day of flight debacles and missed dinner, I headed straight here from the airport to stuff myself silly with one of their highly-praised pizzas. In my case, it ended up being an 18" 'Daredevil' pie, which turned up the temp on an already comfortable evening with ghost chili pepper salami, fire roasted tomato sauce, mozzarella, fresh jalapeno peppers, caramelized onions and siracha. Althought it was a little pricey and I knew I wouldn't finish the whole thing, the only other option is small 9" pie. Plus, I realized my lunch for the next day would be taken care of by ordering big and eating half of it in one sitting. Naturally, I also had to try one of their local microbrews to cool down my self-imposed heat wave. The friendly bartender was nice enough to let me sample a couple of the taps before I decided on the "Best in Show," a light, refresing and sweet American Saison. I just wish I could've grabbed a seat on their outdoor patio to enjoy the nice weather instead of eating inside. Regardless, I really lenjoyed the TBC. Jack Burns would definitely approve! read more

The only thing Trophy lacks is enough space to fit all of their fans in there at once. Tucked away in a building off Morgan Street in downtown Raleigh, Trophy Brewing Company brews some of the tastiest beers that Raleigh has to offer. There is ample parking around the building and on the street, which is a bonus for DTR. Trophy brews their own beer in house, and they don't have a large enough building to make enough beer to sell locally (YET!). Now about their beer... OMG. YUM! Their saison is the most tastiest in all the land, and they always have several of their brews to sample. I think they're around $5 for a 10-12oz pour, and you can refill your 32oz growler for $9. Too bad they don't sell pitchers! :( When you walk in on a Saturday night, you can't hear any music because it's quite noisy in there, but hey.. who goes to a brewery to have a quiet drink & pizza? Speaking of pizza, they have 6-8 different kinds of pizza that rotate each night, and they're all made from organic and fresh ingredients.
