So I went to Trophy Room one night, and the bar tender made me a drink. She happened to make excess and I asked if it was possible to have the rest of what she made me. The answer was no, which is perfectly fine. I go to the bathroom, and as I'm finishing, I get a knock on the door. It's the manager and the bouncer, accusing me of asking for free drinks. Then when I want to know more about the problem, I'm all of a sudden no longer allowed to enter. Yeah. May they go completely bankrupt. read more

Worst bar I've ever been to. Walked in and the bartender refused to serve me before even talking to me. When I asked why, he gave the excuse "it was because I had been somewhere before" but continued to serve everyone else in my party. Big thanks to the new management team for messing up a previously great bar and a hangout spot. First and foremost, all the previous bartenders are gone, having been replaced with new ones, who have some serious attitude issues. In addition to that, what's up with the little kid working behind the bar counter during weekends? Secondly, the bar does not feel as welcoming as it was previously to the LGBTQ community. Whilst Trophy is a sport bar, music videos used to dominate the screen of TV around the bar during weekend nights. However, now all they would play is actual sport. Thirdly, there has never previously been a wait line for Trophy during the weekend, however, now there is one every weekend night. There would be ton of people lining up outside, yet inside the restaurant would remain relatively empty. Last but not least, what happened to the drag queens? They were once the charm of this bar, Drag Brunch was so much fun, yet now they would host drag brunch at Club Cafe down the street, which is where all the queens moved to. Drinks quality is still the same, but the atmosphere of the bar has just ruined the experience for me. It has never felt more like a 'straight' bar than it does now! If this is the case, I don't think it's right to fly the pride flag during this month if you guys are not open to the LGBTQ community. Hopefully things will turn around. In the mean time, I'll be taking my business somewhere else. What a waste of once a charming bar, but now just a real crap hole. read more

Only place taking 8 am reservations on a sat. Breakfast was ok, but i would return during brunch or dinner. Customer service was excellent!!! I ordered pancakes but the chef didnt want to serve them because they kept sticking to the pan. They felt bad n served me toast on the side. Eventually the chef made successful tiny ones, they were too sweet though. I was staying at the Chandler Inn upstairs from Trophy Room and received a drink token for a complimentary Prosecco. Before turning in for the night I went in to redeem it. The music was great and the place was kinda packed which is always a good sign, especially in crappy weather (it was FREEZING out). The bartender was nice and got our drinks out pretty quickly despite being super busy. I didn't stay long but I enjoy myself for the 20 or so minutes as I chatted with my friend as we finished our drinks. I could have stayed longer if I wasn't so sleepy for sure! read more

We stayed in the hotel this bar/ restaurant is part of. It was very apparent they have a good following of locals who visit this location so we definitely were outsiders. Not typically what you find in a hotel bar. Locals were greeted and interacted with regularly. We sat at the bar both nights we were there and while the bartender was nice, very pleasant, we still had to go out of our way to get refills etc. I would recommend this place for food and drinks if you are staying at the hotel but wouldn't go out of the way to go there if you are staying somewhere else. read more

Nice atmosphere with some good drink options and lots of TVs for sports games. Food was just ok. We stopped here as it is the restaurant on the first floor of our hotel. Seemed cute and lots of people. We ordered the Brussels, buffalo cauliflower and sweet potato mousse for dessert. Brussels were probably best part of meal. Nicely roasted with dried figs. The cauliflower was just an odd mix of flavors. Batteries and covered in sauce with shaved carrots celery and blue cheese chunks. The mousse was honestly inedible. Big orange glob of sugar. Been here many times and never had a bad experience, the old "regulars" bad mouth the place and write bad reviews because they've been kicked to the curb and cant drink for free anymore, either way check it out I guarantee you wont be disappointed, the staff are very friendly and attentive, we had the "Wicked Wings" Honey Hot style and the hand rolled taquitos and they were awesome, probably the best wings I've had in a long time, the chicken parm is massive and so good, and they have the biggest pour on their mixed drinks than any other bar around, highly recommend the Cherry Blossom its like all alcohol but tastes like punch! read more

We joined some very good friends of ours here. They always have great restaurant recommendations and this place had just opened up. You can tell they are still figuring everything out (who wouldn't be after just opening a restaurant) but they were so charming. We had Josh who was just a doll!! The chef came out and talked to us who was just a sweetie. They both made the whole experience for us! we couldn't decide what to order and he suggested the Trophy Burger. As many who had been to the erstwhile Fritz have reviewed here, and noted hence, Trophy Room is a completely different restaurant than what Fritz used to be. I had a great 2nd experience here. And here are my 2 cents. Ambiance: 4.5 stars The decor is upscale and very modern. Given the prime location, this will be a great option for anyone who is used to the bigger and busier club settings of a few bars down the street. But TR definitely has the benefits of a great view. Whether it is the day time or evening or slowly transcending night, I liked the overall feeling one gets while seated at the bar or at one of the tables (by the tall floor to ceiling windows that are open doors during warmer times - would be perfect!) The lighting was so cool and really did it for me. They were dimmed around 9:45pm ish and one could hear the change of music and the mood in the room accordingly. Bar: 4 stars I have to make a special mention about the way the bar was being managed. Extremely professional and very friendly. Especially the guy bartender with pierced ears - he was very attentive and checking on everyone. It is not a big bar but yet big enough to have drinks and food and not feel cramped or feel any lack of comfortable space. Everyone at the bar was having a great time as much as guests sitting at the tables. Food: 4 stars Everyone seemed to be enjoying the food. Mine was great too. Especially the Ahi Tuna Tartar. It was a decent portion (could have been slightly more) with the right combination of shaved ginger (really good) and some scallions. That was the best part of my meal and I am glad I just got the arugula salad after that which was good too but nothing compared to the tartar. My friend had the empanada which he was not too impressed with and decided to eat later at the next place we were going to. The drinks menu was pretty extensive as well. The first drink on the specialty cocktails menu (Trophy wife) is really good. Well done! The beer menu is extensive as well but more bottled options than tap. I could rate 3 stars overall but stick with 4. Crowd: It was a predominantly male crowd and a few straight couples who clearly felt out of place for obvious reasons. There were quite a few tables with 2 girls' pairings (just an observation) who clearly wanted to get away from the city bar scene away from the trolls. Good for them! Overall a mixed crowd and slowly but surely, the place will find it's missing identity which at this point seems to be a bit unknown. Summary: In a nutshell, Trophy Room is quite sophisticated as an establishment and has a very friendly staff. It has the potential to be a better place if they do mix up their food menu, have more draft beers, and absolutely not increase the prices anytime in the near or distant future. The prices what they have now are just right but could have been lower to draw in the right crowd. That cannot be changed now so they should try to keep up the good work with service and play around with the music. I don't really understand what a lot of these other reviews are on about. Some friends and I went here for my birthday a little over a week ago and it was the perfect spot! The atmosphere in the dining area and the bar was great, the music selection was fire (I wish they had Touchtunes though), the food was great, and the drinks were made strong, just how we liked them. A friend got the grilled cheese dippers and he said the tomato soup was creamy and delicious. I had some cider and tried the mixed drinks. They're great as well! Our waitress was pleasant and the hosts were very nice as well. The atmosphere in here is perfect for a night out with friends. Definitely not suitable for kids, though. read more

We had a really disappointing dinner here tonight. We had tried the burgers at Trophy Room back in December and liked them, so a group of us went back tonight. When we sat down our server (who I believe was the manager) told us they'd just redone the menu and were really excited about it. We all asked if they still had the same burger and he said yes. Three people at our party ended up ordering the burger (who had all had it back in December) and it was totally different than before and very disappointing. When we mentioned to the server we thought the burgers were no longer good he became really defensive. I understand it's not his fault they weren't that good but as the manager the appropriate response is to offer apologies and a complimentary dessert or coffee to make up for the poor experience. I also tried the veggie spaghetti and thought it had no flavor. I literally could have whipped up something better in my kitchen in 10 minutes and I'm not even a good cook! We won't be back. We don't like the new menu and thought managements response was really unprofessional. read more

Trophy is a very dimly lit cocktail spot in the bottom floor of a hotel, but it did not seem like it was a "hotel bar." They did not seem to actually have any affiliation at all. The dim lighting and low lit candles makes for pretty classy ambiance, but they also have sports playing above the bar, so it's not a stuffy place. They have a unique cocktail list, and they were made perfectly. Tasted delicious and strong for a reasonable price. Also, we knew very little about the place going in and were surprised to find that we may have been the only straight couple there on Friday night (and it was pretty packed), but the people were nice and never made us feel out of place. read more

A great upgrade to and re-branding of the old Fritz. The Trophy Nachos are delicious, and everyone in my group loved their entrees and drinks. We had an additional friend join halfway through the meal, and the staff was super friendly about it and accommodating. As one might expect, our waiter was a fabulous, witty gay guy who cracked jokes with the table (also all self-proclaimed fabulous, witty gays), which made for a great time, but he was also very attentive and professional. We all miss Fritz. That unchanged 80s decor was host to many drunken nights and first dates. However its time to look forward. Its time for The Trophy Room. The updated decor is brighter. The white tile walls and floor and raised tables provide a welcoming, casual vibe. Its very neighborhood-y and with a touch of class. As everyone else has previously stated, the menu has some unique items and the drink menu has some goodies as well. The trophy burger was delicious and expertly cooked. The pineapple skewers were also very good. I was impressed with both. The staff was attentive and chatty. The prices were as expected - burger was about $13 and cocktails $9-$12. Updated Bottom Line: Good food but service is...questionable. Diners beware! I initially gave The Trophy Room 1 star because of a bad experience with their hostesses but I received a really nice message from the head chef after my first review, apologizing for the bad service. He also offered me a complimentary appetizer if I returned to give the place another shot. I'm not fussed by offers of free food but I really appreciated the message so I returned with a friend for brunch. The menu is simple - definitely not as interesting as their dinner menu but hey, it's brunch and let's not kid ourselves, it's really just a nice way to incorporate alcohol into breakfast. My friend and I sat ourselves at the bar and the staff was friendly. However, never in my life have I waited so damn long for a couple of eggs. Other parties around us were audibly complaining about delays in getting their food as well so clearly service was generally slow. We had ordered a side of bacon with our meals that came 30 minutes before the rest of the food arrived. As much as I love eating bacon on its own, we really wanted it with our meals and when we complained about the fact that a side came so much earlier than anything else, the bartender graciously offered to get us a fresh order since what we had was now cold. Our food finally arrives and the "fresh" order of bacon we were promised follows closely after. YES. FINALLY - the table across the room can hopefully stop wondering what the rumbling noises coming from my stomach were. Anyway, here is where I got really annoyed with this place. The original order of bacon came in a bowl with 5 pieces. We had eaten 2, leaving 3 to enjoy with our meal that would never come. So naturally, when we were offered a "fresh order of bacon" as a concession, we expected...a fresh order of bacon. I know - crazy right? Instead, the bartender served us only 3 OBVIOUSLY reheated and overcooked pieces of bacon on a side plate. The worst part of it all, was that she announced, and I quote, "here is a new, fresh, order of bacon for you guys" as she set the sad little plate down in front of us - with a flourish to boot. Are you $%&*?@! kidding me? I'm not stupid or blind so why would you insult me by offering me something "fresh and new" - your idea by the way, not ours - but then serve us something that is not a full order and is clearly old? If you're going to lie to me, at least put some effort into it! I would typically complain about being insulted like that at a restaurant but I was so busy plotting my online character assasination for this place that I didn't even bother (don't judge me - the pen is mightier than the sword). As smoke came out of our ears, we ate our food which, I must admit, was actually pretty good. I ordered the Chandler Sidewalk which was delicious - very satisfying and great if you want to avoid bread but are craving comfort food. My friend ordered the steak which was cooked perfectly but lacked seasoning. Overall, not bad at all. However, still annoyed by the service we received, we asked for our check right away to get the hell out of dodge and never return. BUT...to the bartender's credit, she did not charge us for my friend's meal because of how long we waited. So although I am still angry with her for lying to our faces, I thought she did a good thing in the end and I appreciated that which is the only reason I did not give this place 2 stars for poor service. Will I ever return? Hmmm...their dinner menu looks appealing so perhaps the third time will be a charm? Who knows but I am certainly in no hurry! read more

Trophy Room? More like waiting room. It's too bad because I want to love you Trophy Room, I really do. You have a cool space in a cool neighborhood with cool people. But that's all I really know. Your wait staff and management seem like nice people, but completely inept. After making reservations, we were seated at a table with not only not enough room, but not enough chairs or place settings. In a matter of 45 minutes we requested menus twice, water three times, and once completely annoyed, a new table. Our requests (probably turning into complaints later into the afternoon) went completely unanswered and for the first time in my adult life I walked out of a restaurant before even getting a chance to place an order Id like to think that maybe we were outliers in this situation but similar complaints from surrounding tables were audible. Trophy Room is certainly the front runner for the least effort trophy, but with some changes (and maybe a visit from Jon Taffer) I hope they can be rewarded with most improved by 2016 read more

OK the 2 stars here is: "Meh. I've experienced better." 3 on Yelp is "A-OK" and in all honesty, "Meh. I've experienced better." The atmosphere and drinks are great, fun when stopping by the local neighborhood bar/restaurant. 3 stars for our pulled chicken soft tacos; yummy. I'm not one to send my food back but I got the steak frittes, asked for medium and it was well done bordering dry. The little juice left in it honestly saved me from breaking my rule of sending it back. The french fries were dried out potato sticks. My friends from FL had the tuna mahi and that was good, and the pork chop which was, eh. I'm sure they can do better but it didn't make me think or feel it was "A-OK," sorry. If you're here for an appetizer and drinks, I don't think you'll go wrong; but there are far better experiences I've had within a 5 minute walk of the Trophy Room. Love the drinks and I'll definitely be here in the not so distuant future again for drinks, as I have in the past. read more

I'd recommend this place as an alternative to more club-like places (cough Club Cafe cough), on those nights when you feel like taking it just a bit slower. Food is just okay but their signature cocktails are excellent (love the Trophy Wife!) It can become extremely crowded on Fridays and Saturdays, and this can be a bit of a bother since a) I'm short, b) it's just not that big of a place, and c) they leave these cocktail tables in the middle of the room which people then have to crowd around. However, those are pretty much my only complaints, besides the music sometimes being too loud; that last part might just be the grandpa in me. Overall, a good spot in the city if you want to surround yourself with attractive gay men and toss back a few cocktails. read more

I love Trophy Room. A couple friends of mine go here often and every time I've tagged along, it's been great. There are enough beers on tap (aka. you have choices, but not an overwhelming amount) and the cocktail list is plentiful. The cocktails are pretty creative and are made with a heavy pour (which is A-ok in my book). I think what makes Trophy Room so great is the atmosphere and the awesome bartenders. The place is pretty lively, but not overcrowded or too loud. You can hang out and actually hear the people you're with (which could be good or bad, depending on your situation...). Trophy Room also serves food, which can be a lifesaver if you're drinking cocktails all night. Anyway, if you're in the area, I'd definitely recommend dropping in for some drinks with friends! read more

The location is great. The bar area is well laid out albeit super crowded. No coat check or place to hang your coat. Not a great beer selection and the ones on tap are not very original but over-priced for stuff you can get at whole foods. The food and service are below standard. My steak tips with mashed potatoes was closer to steak tips with grits. The steak tips were cooked well but not flavorful or interesting. The apps that came out were undercooked and were basically bland. When we told the server that they weren't very good he said "well everyone loves them" and walked away. I ate here when it first opened and the food and service were much higher quality. It was actually a big joke at the table on how rotten the food was and the server. We still gave him a good tip. With that said--there was a reason we got dinner reservations last minute. Just go in with eyes wide open, if you don't like the food they won't try to please the customer here. Getting here driving was rough (definitely try to take some other means of transportation here), but this was probably the best place I've eaten/drank at in the Boston area so far. But let's step into specifics, shall we? AMBIANCE: Warm decor, great wooden bar atmosphere--seating is well spaced out, something which a lot of Boston-area restaurants need to learn to do better. SERVICE: Waiter and bartender were friendly and knowledgeable about the menu...and they even made small talk! (again. something that a lot of Boston-area places don't seem to get). TIP: This was probably the best burger I've had in Boston, so if you're hankering for a meat-injection, definitely go for this: I've been missing midwestern BEEF and this place delivered. Also, definitely try their mezcal/jalape~no drink (Something-"Death"). It was great-tasting and really just a well-done cocktail. Would definitely recommend this spot to others. read more
