Café con leche y tostada cubana
    Hector R.

Tropic grill use to be my every morning hangout spot for a quick Cuban coffee or some breakfast. The girls are really nice and always want to make your day better. The breakfast is super affordable and food very well prepared. I love the Cuban tostada they always have the best bread and they make good Cuban coffee for the cafe con leche, the place just renovated the ventanita where they sell the coffee and pastries to go, they also have a bunch of huge TVs now inside playing news and sports. They offer good lunch specials, definitely a local place with good food and kind people.

Good Cuban food for a cafe in gas station

This restaurant is located in a Doral gas station right in front of the Miami Dade police station. Popular to all the locals is a great place to get a Cuban breakfast, lunch or coffee. The have window service were you can place a quick order to go or simply eat at window. Restaurant is a pretty good size and always full as there food is delicious place is always kept clean and service in great. Today's visit was for a quick Cuban coffee (cortadito hecho con leche evaporada) to hold me off till dinner on way home. Always a safe place no matter what time you stop by either for fuel, convenience store or delicious Cuban food.

Ordered thru the outside cafeteria window area. The staff was quick, friendly, and seemed to have a lot of regulars there. I got a menu to go as well because many people call their order ahead as to just quickly pick it up...which is better than standing and waiting outside in the heat in AUGUST! Typical Cuban cuisine with daily specials. I ordered the Churrasco Steak Salad, and it was delicious! I'll be back to enjoy the dining room next time!

My co-worker and I joke about eating at the gas station but no joke, this as good as it gets when it comes to fast Cuban food! It's not a place you visit if your on a diet, although I recently had a chicken avocado salad and must say it was DE-LISSSSH. Their specials are always good & the service is quick. So perfect for a FILLING lunch in the Doral area. You have to ask for the bread, and do ask because it is divinely toasted. The mariquita chips and mojo are another fav of mine, along with the palomina with black rice and beans. This establishment doesn't receive the 5th star because some of the waitress' are a little rude & even overcharged my friend once. We call her "Fraggle Rock" because her attitude matches her face sometimes. *****IF YOU HAVE A MOMENT AND MORE ROOM IN YOUR BELLY, GO NEXT DOOR TO THE CONVENIENT STORE AND GET A COCONUT ICE CREAM, IN THE COCONUT SHELL. YOU WILL THANK ME!!!!***********

Unfortunately, what followed was a surprisingly disappointing experience -- and one that became harder to justify with every course. The service was slow and disorganized, our sangrias had to be returned, and the mixed ceviche was a very small portion with mostly tiny shrimp and very little fish. Then came the $110 parrillada. We ordered the meat medium, but much of it arrived overcooked and dry. Served on a hot platter, it continued cooking at the table. To make matters worse, it had taken nearly an hour to arrive, so sending it back simply wasn't an option we were willing to endure. The sides -- yuca, tostones, and fries -- were all underwhelming, and the sauces were so limited that we had to ask for more. Water wasn't replenished, and even the basic table service felt neglected. We eventually spoke with the manager, hoping for some acknowledgment of the experience. Instead, we were essentially told that we should have complained sooner. We explained that after waiting nearly an hour for our food, we weren't prepared to wait another hour for a replacement. We were offered complimentary desserts, but unfortunately, the churros were rubbery and seemed reheated, while the tres leches was just average. And then came the bill: nearly $200 for three people -- for lunch. Not dinner. Lunch. At that price, you expect the food, service, and overall experience to feel exceptional. Unfortunately, ours didn't come close. We didn't leave upset because the restaurant was expensive; we left disappointed because the experience simply didn't justify what we paid. We went in with high expectations and left feeling that Mordisco was not worth the price. Sadly, we won't be returning.

Kuba Cabana had a "car bar" outside their place, not sure it it's associated with the restaurant or not, but the mojitos got us in the mood for Latin food. While we were there a DJ was playing and people were already dancing. The inside with its neon signs and décor is very Instagram/photo ready. We also ordered different bites for the table. I got a tamale and also the croquetas. Both were very good, and the Mai Tai was perfect. It's got a touristy energy, a little overly Cuban. But honestly its probably not noticeable unless your from South Florida. The waiter was able to take orders and conversate in Spanish and English which was good for our table. It's a nice spot for bites and drinks. We are sure to hit here again soon.
