Curry Chicken Platter with plantains
Debbie S.

Delicious! I ordered from their truck at a festival and was pleasantly surprised that it was a nice portion, which is hard to come by from a food truck where often the portions are too small. Not here! :) Loved the chicken curry - the tender fall of the bone meat had spice and flavor that was just right and tasted so homemade. It wasn't greasy at all, just delicious! Rice was nice and fluffy and the plantains - you can't go wrong!

Really really wanted to enjoy the large stew pork I just ordered but both the rice and meat are so salty! I don't know if it's the gravy, and because I asked them to put a lot on the rice- maybe that's what's making everything so salty. So after paying almost $30 to order and have it delivered, I'm disappointed :(. The delivery guy was the nicest. The cabbage is great. Decent portion. No fried plantains. But the salt on everything else is too much to be enjoyable. Plus I don't mind it, but if you're not a fan of pepper, I'd advise you pick another menu item cause the spice was hot! Not sure if I'll try here again. Revising my review to 1 star since management has decided to be rude and label my review a "shakedown" because I am a Yelp Elite contributor. If I were you I WOULD NOT order here and waste your money. Management takes no accountability and quite frankly the food is bad.

Curry goat

Ordered in for lunch earlier and decided on Jamaican food for today. I ordered through Grubhub and food was delivered hot and fresh in 30 minutes. I ordered the curry goat with rice and peas, the Mac & cheese, and a beef patty. Mac & cheese was ok (probably wouldn't order it again) but the curry goat and beef patty were great. The prices were pretty good and they have a very nice delivery driver. I'd order again from here again and maybe try the jerk chicken or oxtails next time.

Tasting soup realizing it's more jerk seasoning then water

Had to take the time out my day to complain about these people here.....sorry excuse for a Jamacian restaurant... I ordered a large jerk chicken with a large chicken soup and got this in return.. soup wasn't large and jerk chicken had absolutely no jerk sauce from what I thought comes to find out it's so much jerk seasoning in the sauce a real Jamacain wouldn't know... completely too watery, slow workers who choose to talk instead of serving and absolutely zero count ability of there actions it's like hey people still gonna spend there money lol ok I got my money back and went to kfc which was actually $11 cheaper even tho I wanted a full meal of Jamaican food.. best advice is to go to 10th Ave and 26th or 10th Ave and Madison this spots needs to close asap ..

I'm back you guys/women with another spot. I go here all the time but this is my first time writing about it. I usually go here for the Jerk Chicken but I want to try some Curry Goat so that's what's in the picture. It has a spicy feel to it and that's given for Jamaican food. But it is really good though. If you want real deal Jamaican food just go here and thank me.

Jerk chicken with rice and peas and side salad, DAMN GOOD!
Noodgydaddy ..

Jerk chicken is off the hook and the Oxtail is the best I've had, no joke! I met one of the owners and she's an incredibly nice lady (she also had the same name as my daughter ) and the place is clean, GO CHECK THIS PLACE OUT, you'll thank me...

Left: stew chicken, rice & peas and cabbage Right: Jerk Chicken Meal( jerk sauce is really spicy) extremely generous portions

I drive all the way from Jersey City to get my food from here, that should tell you how good it is! I always call ahead just to make sure they have what I want, their food is so good they occasionally run out of certain things. The staff is so sweet & the food is delicious. I wish they would hurry & make their way to JC already!

I visit this place an average three times per week. Lunch for $7.99 is a good deal. They have the best oxtails.

Groovy Southern food meets refined semi-upscale downtown. What do we get?…read moreBreaded okra. Kiss my grits, but we aren't always talking BBQ when we're in the South. I've had me some soul food in Mississippi and 'Bama, though at a fraction of the price you get up North. Look, it's a Montclair thing. Pluses: Black owned restaurant serving cultural staples, plus foods for people who don't want Southern. Ambiance featured soul music, and at one point was playing Shaft! I can dig it. You're not left wanting for food quantity or quality. Plenty of shrimp in the grits, for example. Server was very pleasant to talk to with a little Southern twang to her voice. Why not five stars: Flavor needs deepening. For example, in the South I'm used to seeing okra chopped and breaded before being fried. Maybe more oily that way, more carbs... but more flavor as a result. I had the pulled chicken mac, which was a bit smaller of a dish overall (a bit intentional on my part) - and while the cheese flavors run deep, the meat did not. Shrimp and grits, I took a quick sample of my friend's grits and... I bet you can guess my finding there. Still, a very nice change from the usual Northern selection of foods. I would not hesitate to say Sweet T's is authentic and a nice visit if you're in town. You'll be paying a pretty penny wherever you eat, so you can tag this one on your list.

The wait staff was fantastic in waiting on us as well as offering us a seat immediately upon entry. There were many servers on the floor, availing if anyone needed anything. We mentioned it was our first time, the quality of explanation of the menu lacked. We didn't really understand or enjoy what we ate. Think it's important to mention we are both black women from the American South. Maybe we ordered wrong (which I don't believe in but .... I'll digress) Maybe it was a bad day Maybe I'll try again!! We'll see.

The chicken looked good but I only ate 1/2 piece of the wing. (Still have me a horrible headache on the way home). Place is small but that's the least of their problems. Entire staff primarily speaks Spanish and aren't properly trained enough to even know how to take an order at your table. The poor girl tried hard to try to write down our simple order but the language barrier made it hard for her to type our order into the system. She returned to the table 5x to explain the various mistakes she made trying to put the order in. As I stood near the bar waiting to put my OWN drink order in, the young confused waitress ran over to tell me that the kitchen was out of collard greens. I smoked and substituted it for something else. 10 minutes later she arrives with my oversalted chicken and collard greens. Maybe wait a few years and try them, if they happen to stay open by some miracle.

Stopped by for late Sunday lunch with wife and the place was POPPIN'!…read more I. ATMOSPHERE (5/5) This place had night club vibes on a broad daylight, and I'm not complaining. It had this loungey vibe with gold and dark blue tones and selective dimming that gave an upscale yet inviting and friendly vibe. Nice large bar with screens of sports and news for patrons and good music. I'm for it. II. FOOD (5/5) Yo this place ain't joking. Hard to find fresh veggies, but they had some. Peach and Strawberry Sweet Tea were great, though definitely sweet. Peach was slightly more refreshing for what was to come. Cornbread (APP, $9, 5/5) - Some of the best cornbread all around. Big but moist with decent crumbling, and so good with homemade strawberry jam. Cornerstone of the meal here. It's BIG so you can definitely share. Somehow it was even better the next day(?!) Sweet T's Fried Shrimp (APP, $19, 5/5) - Perfectly breaded and fried golden brown without being too heavy, this one was surprisingly delicious with the dips. Very good reco from our server. Fresh Baby Kale, Pear, and Goat Cheese Salad (APP, $14, 4/5) - Very much needed some sprinkling of greens. Pretty good though portion could be a bit larger. Catfish Nuggets (APP, $16, 3/5) - This one we didn't care too much for. Bit salty, one-dimensional. Stone Ground Cheddar Cheese Grits (APP, $10, 5/5) - ROCKET SHIP! This was literally the BEST GRITS I've ever eaten, and I've eaten enough to fill a bath tub! Wow! It had the perfect level of buttery, robust deep cheddar flavor with bits of crispy bites within, creamy smooth texture, right level of seasoning, and crazy level of addictiveness. I found myself rationing it with every other item on the table. WHAT?! I could write an essay on this one but it is ridiculously good I would come back again and again just to eat this. Grits done well, y'all. Grits done well living his best life, right here. Just writing about it makes me drool. III. SERVICE (5/5) I forgot about service because I was writing about 'em grits but our server lady was pleasant, made great recos, and took our money. So she was good! The place just oozes with neighborly homey charm, and there were repeat diners telling us this here is what's up, so a great sign. I really enjoyed Sweet T's a lot more than I thought I would. Its great southern food, special vibe and attentive service all combine to be a winning neighborly combination here in Teaneck. Show them some love and eat 'em grits. You won't regret it.

Service was amazing and the owner is always pleasant. The aesthetic is very chic and classy so it's a nice place to do date night. The cost is comparable to similar restaurants.

Stepped in and was greeted by the nicest lady who immediately offered me a sip of their "uptown" drink - a mix of iced tea and lemonade. It was quite tasty. That was just the beginning of the warmth that this establishment exuded, they were super nice and friendly. They asked my name, but I forgot to ask theirs. As I waited for my food, she began bringing me samples of the sides and desserts. She had me sample the banana pudding (she asked first if I ate bananas) - this was super flavorful of banana, as another review said, not just vanilla pudding with some sliced bananas in it. Beyond that, she brought me a little piece of frosted banana bread, a dense, rich flavorful lemony cake, and a frosted pound cake. The lemony one was my favorite. Next came a bit of sweet potatoes, with huge flavor that I haven't really experienced before in a dish like this. She also let me try the mac and cheese (great spices in it!) and collard greens (tastes just how you expect!), as well as one of their "French fries" which is a round slice of potato, really good and so much more interesting than normal fries. She brought this out with her rib sauce to taste/dip, which was also good. She also had some great conversation about boxing and bringing the neighborhood together. When I got my food, it was bursting out of the takeout container and she had to use a rubber band to keep it closed. The cutlery set came with A dumdum lollipop and a piece of bubble gum as well. I ordered: 2 piece fried chicken - leg and thigh with mac and cheese and collard greens and cornbreak. They also added a few fries in, coleslaw, and hot sauce. The chicken was tasty, but the pieces were huge! The cornbread was dense and sweet, delicious. The coleslaw was super creamy. I'll be back and I'd encourage anyone nearby to check it out.
