Get the beef patty with cheese. It's so good. I asked for a few beef patties, and somehow, the one with cheese was in the bag. I'm very glad it was in the bag, as I will make sure to get the beef patty with cheese the next time I visit.

This place is legendary for its Jamaican food. My favorite is the beef patties & coco bread.

    * CASH ONLY* Ordered a beef patty w coco bread but No warm coco bread was waiting for me. It wasn't horrible but wasn't my favorite place in the world to come get me a beef patty. Bread was a little dry and kind of stale. The patty had an ok amount of filling and was a little sweet.

First time in NYC my boyfriend said I had to try the beef Pattie's OMG these suckers are delicious. Full of flavor I prefer the beef vice the chicken (was curry flavored with potatoes). Requested a dozen frozen so I can take back with me to Florida. I am told the bread is made daily it shows was very fresh and soft. Grocery store is right beside it and no parking of course so doubled parked was out in less than 5 minutes.

Tropical House Baking is located in the heart of Crown Heights (close to Eastern Parkway) and within close proximity to other Caribbean bakeries. The prices are a moderate. I ordered a beef patty for $3.00 and veggie patty for $2.75. Both tasted freshly made. Surprisingly, the veggie patty tasted better than the beef patty. The veggie patty was well seasoned. Although good, the beef patty was moderately seasoned and could've used more heat (spice). The restaurant is takeout only; there's no indoor or outdoor dining. Staff and patrons are separated by a protective glass shield. Service is very fast. Regarding payment options, I'm not sure if Tropical House Baking accepts card payment because I paid with cash.

I usually buy chicken patties. I don't know why I chose beef but nonetheless it was still worth it. The patty was fresh and juicy. You can tell it was freshly made compared to other patty places that have them their for hours. It had a hint of spice. The o lot reason why I didn't give it 5 stars is because the place looks a little dingy probably it's been there for many years. I'll definitely go back to these nearby bakery. Also it's cash only.

    Men-u should try this place.

Lately, I seem to be developing a thing for savory turnovers. First it was empanadas. From BK's lovely Empanada City, to be exact. And now patties from here: So yeah... Tried both the Chicken and Veggie Patties, and the former was definitely the winner. Especially its perfectly seasoned (read: not shy with either allspice or scotch bonnets), generous filling. The Veggie Patty was stuffed with a random-seeming mix of vegetables that included potatoes, peas, and corn, if memory serves. Filling was on the bland side; not really sure why Veggie Patties are never kicked up in the same way as the meat ones. It also featured the usual whole wheat style crust that so often encases Veggie Patties. Not a big fan. Plus they don't do Callaloo Patties here for some reason... But I digress. Interior is as tiny and closet-summoning as others have alluded to and the bullet-proof glass window that separates staff and customers is no joke. I found that it made it near impossible to communicate with the employee who was helping us, as I had some questions about some of the menu items I wasn't familiar with. Speaking of which, also tried some mystery Spice Bread that had great flavor, but was on the dry side. Bottom line: Would definitely return for more Chicken Patties and also to try the Beef-filled ones.

    PERFECTION.

Dem patties jamaican me craaazy! Have just one, and every time you walk down Schenectady, you'll "FOLLOW YOUR NOSE!" Cause trust me- it WILL know! A one month sublet round the corner - AND being confined to crutches, has meant scouring Schenectady and the surrounding Utica perimeters (Last stop on the 4 train) for some good local treats. Even if it's a little something something to silence that hungry grrrrowl! While I've had Jamaican patties from your wah-wah-wah Golden Krust variety (multiple locations) to some random bakeries and food joints around Brooklyn (even along both Flatbush & Nostrand), boys and grrrls...(drumroll please~...) I CROWN these: THE BOMB! Baffled to see not a single review, I had to do a little extra sleuthing ... Dennis Young is "Jamasian"- a Chinese Jamaica. Speaking to his Korean wife, I found out this humble little bakery stand (it's all point and take away- no sit and eat) has been around for close to 30 years (29 and change)! I've thoroughly enjoyed my AHA moments while seated on a nearby Eastern Parkway bench savoring every tasty bite of those curry-inspired chicken patties. They're my faaaave AND... the best $1.50 you'll find yourself spending here in Brooklyn!~ Too, I've decided it makes PERFECT sense: 1. HOW one might master the art of the Jamaican patty in 3 decades 2. WHY their assortment of baked goods can be found locally within grocery stores 3. WHY this Crown Heights gem is a must-try!! While there's a large variety of breads (coco!) and treats, I'm always blinded by my passion for these patties! They're always oven hot, baked and NOT fried, and service behind the glass window is always uber-friendly! Preferring my crust less crunchy, and more hearty, one look at these picture-perfect golden pockets, and you too will be running this way for some homemade Jamaican goodness!

Strongly in the running for Best Crown Heights Pattie, The dough is a smidge tougher than Silver Krust, which in this case is a good thing, as Silver Krust's excessive flakiness and tenderness has a little bit of a too-French feeling. The filling is savory and meaty. The patties are just the right size to offer the perfect filling-to-crust ration in every bite. The coconut tarts are delicious as well, with a strong hit of spice that lets you know you're eating Caribbean. You can tell this restaurant has seen 30 years of Crown Heights michegas because the friendly staff is completely encased in industrial-strength bullet-proof glass, but the food that comes through the turntable makes you glad they've survived this long and hope the encroaching gentrification doesn't kill the excellent long-time businesses on Schenectady Ave.

The space is relatively small, with a line inside and outside and a few tables outside. The length of the line and wait time varies based on the time of day and if you go on a weekday vs weekend. Go early if you don't want them to sell out of anything or purposely go a little later if you want one of their lunch sandwiches on focaccia. I have had the tomato and garlic focaccia twice now and each time it has been exceptional. Minor critique, the slices of garlic could be a bit smaller. I also had the shakshuka focaccia which is divine and I would absolutely recommend both. I need to come back to try their sandwiches as well. I am not a sweets person, but everyone I know loves their pastries. Getting someone a gif tcard here makes for a great gift.

Dropped by Radio Bakery on the Tuesday morning after Memorial Day and the lines weren't too crazy…read more I got there in time to grab some breakfast items and baked goods, and then waited at a table outside for the lunch items to get set out around 11AM. I'm usually more of a savory girlie but all the sweet items we tried were great, especially the rhubarb croissant and the earl grey morning bun. I really enjoyed the focaccia sandwiches (smoked salmon and pea/mint/feta were elite) and the artichoke green garlic slice. The flavor of the sesame stirato was excellent but the bread itself was a tad too chewy for the filling we got with it (tuna salad), so that style probably works better with the jambon beurre. Will definitely be on the rotation whenever I'm in the city -- would love to try some of their seasonal/limited edition items one day, though not sure if I have it in me to brave the lines that can form on the weekends, lol! We'll see :)

Radio Bakery... is perfection. I completely understand the line…read more I first ordered the heirloom tomato & feta sandwich, which was unbelievable. It is so clear that they use incredibly high-quality ingredients and carefully curate each component, which is exactly why everything comes together in such an elevated way. The tomatoes reminded me of the ones I grew in my garden during California summers as a teenager. Perfectly salted, layered over soft, not-too-tart feta. The focaccia was made with beautiful olive oil and, while a bit chewier than I usually prefer, gave the sandwich a satisfying bite. I had to close my eyes while eating it just to savor it. The chocolate cherry almond croissant... wow. Such a creative combination, and it did not disappoint. Soft, buttery, and filled with a sour cherry compote that reminded me of a cherry cordial from a box of chocolates. 5/5. Hainsley, who helped me, was exceptionally lovely. Everyone even in line was very nice, the vibes were awesome. I'll definitely be back to try the spicy tofu sandwich and the heirloom tomato tart!
