We purchased a scooter from this company and have had multiple problems since. The woman who owns it or is always there always seems to have an attitude, no matter how nice and respectful she's going to be annoyed with any questions you ask. They are unreliable when it comes to fixes, I had to get the scooter serviced back here months after I purchased it due to no one else being able to service it. Got it back with more problems then I left it, and they'll take your time to while they break your vehicle leaving you out of a ride for a week. No need to be in a rush to have my Honda Ruckus shipped down from Indiana now. I recently bought a Suzuki GSX-R 750 from Tropical scooters. Complete scam, fairings are Chinese and from wrong year, 2006 not 2007, tons of problems, spent $600 the first month alone on repairs. They buy wrecked bikes at auctions for cheap and put cheap fairings etc then sell them. Avoid at all cost! read more

The summer of 2012 I hit my quarter life crisis and I decided to buy a retro café style motorcycle. I was intrigued by Cleveland Cycle Werks' Tha Misfit, for it's cool company attitude, and upon learning that Tropical Scooter was a CCW dealer, I stopped in. There I met Mark and Michelle, and their son Michael, as well as a bright red and white Sym Wolf Classic 150 that was just the prettiest thing in the world. The rest you can say, is history. Its 2015 now, and I promised Michelle I would tell this story for all yelp to see. There are a few incidents I wish to share to illustrate the wonderful people they are and the upstanding business which they run. At the time I first went to look at the CCW Misfit, I was very impressed that they had in stock the hot competition that I was also considering, the Sym Wolf Classic 150. Now, no dealer can physically stock every model, but take note, their inventory and selection is quite good, If I remember correctly the CCW Misfit was $3200, and the Sym Wolf Classic was right about $3000. When I asked for their staff's opinions on each, they gave me very honest no frills feedback: Cleveland Cycle Werks is a new company, their bike is more expensive, yet chopped together with economy focused parts, mudguards and trim are all plastic. Sym is a highly highly reputable manufacturer (Honda's Taiwan plant since 1961), this bike is a very well time tested update to the Honda CB125 series, and their fit and finish was fantastic. Mudguards and trim are all polished stainless steel. The folks at Tropical Scooter were happily willing to direct me to a less expensive product, that they might make less money on, knowing that it would be a quality purchase in the long run for me. After a few months, I had a nice little fall, and bent some levers and a mirror. I brought the bike in, they tallied up what I needed, quickly had the parts ordered from the dealer in California, parts were well priced. Your first fall is a stressful time-they were great, zero hassle. I rode that bike every day for a year and a half as a my daily commuting machine. One December day, the clutch cable snapped. I managed to limp it home and parked it for a long time. Months later, clutch cable still busted, carburetor in need of a cleaning, battery long dead....I was moving out and was gonna give up on my little red machine. I told them to take it back...do something, consign it....Well, this wasn't something they could move in a hurry, nor was it something they did very often for customers...plus they had to fix it first didn't they? It was a sad day when I basically abandoned my little red machine at their shop and said I'm leaving forever. They promised to order the necessary parts, clean it up, put a fair price on it, and find a new home for it, taking $200 for themselves if it sold. I had moved to Santa Fe NM with bright dreams of a career and a future, but 3 months later when that didn't pan out and I returned to Florida I went to Tropical to sheepishly look at my poor little motorcycle. There it was, all cleaned up. Mike hadn't bothered to call me, our agreement had been clear and they were true to their word. They had ordered and waited on parts, quietly changed the oil, spark plug, battery, cleaned the carb, got it to start, and put it back on their show floor for 3 months, waiting for....waiting for.....for me. It broke my heart to see it there, lonely and abandoned, like a faithful dog, waiting for me where I had left it. Well, Michelle asked...do you want it back? I'm sorry we couldn't sell it for you. I said, are you sure? I'm so sorry I troubled you! Thank you so much for caring for it, keeping it here for so long. Can I pay you for all this time its been sitting here? She said: No, just the repairs, and leave us a review online. She wasn't mad, she wasn't annoyed, as many a dealer could have been, she was just doing her best to look after my needs as fairly and as generously as a business could. So here it is: I have absolute faith that if I need anything-anything at all from them, they would go to the end of the earth for me, not because I am anyone special, but just because I am their customer, and that is the way they treat all of their customers. Over the years every time I poke my head in, they remember me, Michelle's eyes smile with kindness, and Mark's big hands swallow mine with a handshake. Mike helps unload my motorcycle, troubleshoot my latest issue, and asks me how my truck restoration project is coming along. To a young man with few possessions of his own, a first motorbike or scooter means freedom, independence, adventure, and the wonder of youth. If you're planning on shopping for a 2 wheel machine, check them out. You do the riding, these guys just take care of all the rest. read more

There's a long time person working there called "Mike" who is basically in charge of "ripping off" customers. Awful experience with broken down NEW scooter. They refuse to listen to what happens to scooter shutting down and won't restart. Michelle insisted it was out of gas. It WASNT! It has happen 3 times. I've taken there THREE TIMES! After the 3rd time I had to get it picked up and dropped off because it left me stranded. Now, being at their shop for a day, the scooter is much worse with very high idle then low idle. Michelle is nothing short of a BULLY when you disagree with her. Michelle will talk in circles and make absolutely no sense. She seems to be hiding something or ....something because she is nervous fidgety when pressed with questions on a solution. My NEW buddy scooter has 268 miles, for $3k (loaded junk fees from Tropical Scooter). She asked me to leave when when I asked "why did this metal part just fall off? Where does it belong?" Michelle was shoving a McDonlads burger in her mouth while answering me. Maybe she was just hangry. DO NOT RECOMMEND! GO ANYWHERE ELSE BUT HERE! read more

Be careful. This is my story with Tropical Scooters. Dropped off my 50 cc scooter and never got an estimate. Then this guy "Mike" called me (after 5 days) saying they didn't have much space to keep it over there and they "fixed" it. Got in the shop and just asked what had been done on my bike. Simple answer from them: "we replaced the carburetor". Total cost: $189! This place is a ripoff and please stay away from it. This person "Mike" is a big part of it and his unprofessional attitude towards customers is just killing the business. Bought a 2007 Yamaha FZ1 for $3900 only to find out when filling up with gas on the way home that there was a structural crack in the frame. They denied knowing about it and would not do anything to help besides "putting a weld over the crack" because "choppers are welded so it will fix it". Yamaha directly told me the bike is not safe to ride and welding is not a safe fix. Quote to get a new frame installed was over $3500. Spent 8 months dealing with the issue and finally got a new frame installed from a local Authorized Yamaha Dealer. Tropical Scooters refused to pay a single dollar towards the repair. I have talked to them over the phone for a couple months before coming in to finally pick up my new baby and they were always there with the answers for me. They even stayed late to wait for me to come out from Holiday fl and also had Moto tow there for me to bring my new scooter home for me since im a new rider and have not got my endorsement yet, the price on the tow was very acceptable also. Been doing this for seven years now. Very direct with you, straight explanations and no hidden gimmicks as far as I can tell. We opted for financing and it was so simple. Dealer prep fee, so there was that, but I trust these guys to make sure it runs right. Even offered to show us how to ride and operate, to make sure. Didn't push too hard at all to try and sell us on anything. Helpful, really knew their stuff as in explaining specifics of the engines and all. Didn't sugarcoat the warranty we got, and I like that. Honest. Also her office had lots of Beatles memorabilia which while irrelevant was still awesome. We went to five others before here and read consumer reports on products, the whole nine, and we finally chose here. Would completely recommend and return. read more

Run away!! Never back up what they say!! Bought a HD there and in the first week cost me 895.00 after contacting them and was told over. And over that they had just fix that. Then they changed me for. A tag?? I had a tag?? After I was treated so bad they said I owed they 300 more?? And held my tag and keys hostage until I had to pay for the (other) new tag? Solo. RUN AWAY!!! after looking into all this. Its really my fault I didn't do my research you will pay the same or better at a dealer. I came to Florida from Massachusetts several weeks ago, and living near the beach, I saw people all over on scooters! On a whim, I went to Tropical Scooters, and decided to get one to run errands, and go to the beach while still being in the sun. When I got there, I met Andrew, and although I told him I was just looking, he stopped what he was working on, and gave me a quick course in scooters 101. He showed me various models, and we talked about maintenance, expense, and basic operation. He was so easy going that when I said I wanted to go think about it, he shook my hand, and said "take your time". Later that day, I came back and settled on a red Buddy 50. Andrew gave me a great price, and did all my paperwork quickly. The coolest part of the experience from a service standpoint was when I got the keys to my new scooter, A super nice woman fit me for a helmet and took me outside to teach me about my new Buddy. She proceeded to spend almost an hour with me in the parking lot teaching me to drive safely, and completely calmed my newbie nerves. The staff here went above and beyond what they had to do.
