I've gotten their PB paradise post workout multiple times and their product is consistent and good every time. I dont like too much sugar so I get no turbinado, no added sweeteners. I personally like the pea protein although it adds a texture some may not like. I also replace the sweetener for dark chocolate and it was great tasting. Also got the feta spinach wrap with pesto. It was light and good and paired well with the smoothie. Total order took about 8 minutes to make, not bad but could be faster? No big deal. read more

A great place to stop in for a healthy drink and snack. It has a drive thru too! The coupons really help bring us in here from time to time. Some of the drinks on the menu are a bit difficult to understand, especially if you want to do a substitute ingredient in it. The staff here really don't know how to navigate that our explain the drinks any further. Nonetheless, the drinks are make pretty proficiently here and they are very tasty. Craving a smoothie after eating some spicy Thai down the street. I decided to try their dragon fruit smoothie, since I have been on a smoothie kick. We also got the peanut butter cup, our tried and true favorite flavor at this chain. A strong burnt smell of toasted bread permeates the dining area. The smoothies are one size, 25 ounces of their goodness. The PB cup is delicious as always and at every location. The dragon fruit is not overly sweet and has a subtle balance of fruitiness from the banana, mango and pineapple. It's jam packed too. It tastes okay, not as good as the PB cup though. Wouldn't get it again. The dragonfruit is a pungent fruit and the coloring is good but the flavors too diluted by the others and thus it gets lost in this smoothie rendition for me. They need to do something about the stench of burnt bread, that's all I can smell here. It's overwhelming and distracting. I feel like I am at a campfire or something inside here. read more

Today was my first time at this tropical smoothie, I pulled thru the drive thru and the person taking my order was very rude, I didn't say anything and she rudely said give me a second. Then as I continued to order she seemed to be in a rush, ( I only ordered 2 things) she cut me off multiple times during my order and had a bad attitude the entire time. Once I pulled to the window they again seemed in a rush, I was the only person in there, they handed me my things agressive and overall it was not a good experience and I wouldn't recommend coming to this location. I just know that this huge smoothie was cold, very icy and very much flavorless. If that's how it is supposed to be- then they succeeded. I guess I haven't reviewed this location yet - hmm. I live around the corner from it so I've been multiple times. Service is a little slow but the food is always good. When I came here yesterday, I tried the Thai chicken wrap with Sun Chips as my side - if you get a wrap or a sandwich ($6.99), you get to pick a side like chips, fruit, etc. If you get a flatbread ($4.59 or so) there's no side included, I've tried the chicken pesto flatbread before and that was really good also. Their smoothies are HUGE and thus priced accordingly - most are $4-5+ I believe. This location also has a drive-through and the parking lot is very small. Download their app and get $5 off your purchase, that's what I did yesterday so my lunch was about $2. :) read more

They do have drive thru but we got inside and they quickly handed us our order. Wraps are fresh, juicy, and have crunchy elements with Thai sauce and a lot of fresh salad. It's no surprise, looking at previous reviews for this location, that most ratings are between one and three stars. There is always a long wait in the Drive-Thru, and today was the final straw for me when I ordered online at 10:29 a.m., arrived 10:39, and didn't receive my one smoothie until 10:49, 20 minutes later. The app states "order online and skip the line"; meanwhile, I was asked to pull ahead and sit in my car and watch other people order and receive their food while I continued to wait. When I finally got my smoothie I inquired as to why the wait was so long. The associate said they had a lot of online orders and catering, then she said "have a good day". I went through the drive through around 3pm and I was surprised how busy this place was. I did have to wait about 15 minutes for my fish and steak tacos. It's a new thing they have. Service isn't the fastest like other reviewers said, but the good smoothies make up for it and they are BIG. If you want a quick lunch or think you're just going to dash through the drive-thru, think again. I am updating my review. In the past few months this location has gone down hill dramatically. First, this location cannot be accessed by the app. This means you do not earn any rewards by patronizing this location. Ferndale and Rochester use the app. Secondly, because you cannot order online ahead of time - the wait times at this location during lunch and after work are unbearable. Yesterday there were over 20 cars in the drive thru. I left. Had I been able to order online though, I would have gotten something. Third - the QUALITY has gone down hill at this location. I am on a strict diet for reasons that don't really matter. The point is I always ask for my Smoothie with NO SWEETENER OR SUGAR (THIS INCLUDES TURBINADO). In fact I go OUT of my way to clarify 'NO" on all of these. The last 4 SMOOTHIES I have gotten from this location have had Turbinado or sugar in them. This is just UNACCEPTABLE. My healthy green drink is nothing more than a soda with all of that sugar. It's disgusting when you simply want vegetables and fruit. I think the part that sucks the most is - no one seems to care. I watched a girl poor Turbinado into my Detox Island (which btw doesn't even come w/ sugar or Turb). When I stopped her and said, "Hey did you just add sugar?" She smiled and said, "Ooops! Do you want me to remake it?" No I totally want what is supposed to be a 200 calorie green drink to be 700 calories of white sugar. This location has also gotten dirty..... The woman that took my order had a great personality, making my experience great. I ordered the Turkey Bacon Ranch sandwich and it came out looking and tasing great! I decided to dine in this time and from what I observed the staff really care about the customers. The place is clean and the service is quick. I wish I could give a higher review but I'm struggling with this location. When I actually get what I ordered the food is good, and good quality. Unfortunately I rarely get what I ordered. Today my husband was kind enough to pick up lunch for me and not only is my sandwich completely different than the one I wanted, it also contained tomatoes which he explicitly asked to be omitted. I cannot tell you how many times I've been given a sandwich completely different than the one I ordered, but end up having to eat it anyways because I have very limited time on my lunch break. I decided to give Tropical Smoothie Cafe a go one hot day when I had my little dude in the car and just wanted something to sip on without having to do the whole get the kid out of the car seat and go in thing. I was excited to find a drive thru smoothie joint nearby... The service was super slow, it really didn't even appear to be that busy either. Then I got my smoothie and it tasted like something you'd mix with alcohol that gives you a mean hangover the next day. It was so super sweet that I hardly even drank it. What I was hoping for in a smoothie place was something more fresh tasting, less syrupy and more on the fresh & healthy tip. The whole thing felt fake- like the Rainforest Cafe of Smoothie joints. For starters, most of the smoothies contain sugar. It's not clearly marked so if your diabetic or trying to watch your carbs, ask if your drink has sugar and if so ask for the sugar substitute or none at all. Second, a lot of the ingredients are made from concentrates. With that said they feature several good smoothies but I refrain from recomending any of them. The location is clean and bright. Service is so so. They do a very good business. Better substitute than ice cream. Check out their lunch menu which is preferable to their drinks. There are also no soft drinks served. None.
