Selected pomegranate and strawberry with coconut and other toppings. Saw topping looking like gummy bears that cashier recommended not a fan of gummies but decided to try. Whoa I was like a kid in candy store. They were like bubbles popping in your mouth. I was so enthralled I couldn't get enough wanted to return and purchase a cupful lol. Wow. What a rude and disappointing experience. The candy toppings were stale. Kit Kat like cardboard. Went back, and the red-haired girl working the cashier, said "just take em off". Really? What a disappointing experience. Yogurt City is advertised as self serve, but other than being able to pull the lever for your yogurt nothing else is self serve. If you want a sample the employee has to come out from behind the counter to get your samples, then you hand over your cup at the toppings so that the employee can scoop the toppings for you. Just so odd and the first time I've ever encountered this. The taste of the yogurt was also a big problem for me, most of the flavors I tried were like the sparkling water of frozen yogurt- you got a hint of what the flavor was and the rest of the taste was just sugar. The restaurant was clean, but there were hand written signs all over with their policy's. While I can appreciate trying to keep waste to minimum, it really felt like the owner went too extreme. read more

We came in and there were a few people in the store, no one greeted us as we walked in or said goodbye as we walked out. This is the last standing frozen yogurt in downtown, unfortunately. I have only been to this place out of pure curiosity and desperation to have frozen yogurt. It's a galley style layout, kind of odd. I trie( their sorbet and chocolate froyo with some Oreo cookies, PB and caramel. I know they have a bunch of random stuff to put on your frozen yogurt, but I am usually disappointed when I put too much stuff on my frozen yogurt or ice cream. It was rather expensive for what you get, but they do give you a lot of toppings and certainly interesting. The service is meh, just staffers that weight out your bowl and take your money, felt very transactional from what I recall. I have been to this location multiple times. It's the only place near me that has tart flavored yogurt. However, it's very expensive and the staff running the store have no idea what they're doing. Yesterday I went to pick up an order I placed online. When I got there the staff had no clue how online orders worked. My order was obviously not prepared. One employee stayed in the back while another explained that they only accept online orders from certain platforms and they didn't have my order. I ordered through Grubhub and that's one of the companies they list as working with. They pretty much blew me off. I got the distinct impression that they were just waiting to close. The topping section was closed off and covered. The employee that wasn't hiding in the back had a bunch of stuff set out in front of her at the window seat. I have no clue if she was eating a multi-course meal or doing an art project. She definitely wasn't concerned with customers. It was not an experience I intend to repeat. read more

This place is never open and insanely expensive. Used to be a good place to go but not now they are never open and prices have skyrocketed.

An okay frozen yogurt place. Most of your regular toppings, nothing crazy. They do have a "no sugar added" caramel flavor that is pretty good. I also enjoy the coffee flavor. Cons revolve around their terribly awkward and rude employees that make it difficult for someone to even want to return. My first time back this year I was greeted by an employee who almost refused to give us spoons, saying she didn't want to "put them on the dirty counter". My second time here was a mess. The woman working behind the counter literally pointed to the tip jar and said "this so I can buy myself something nice". It was so weird and made me feel really uncomfortable. I signed my credit card slip as fast as possible so I could run out of there and before I was done the worker pointed to the tip line on the credit card slip and said "this for tip." I paid $5.35 for a plain frozen yogurt with nuts and had to suffer through the cringiest environment in Royal Oak- why would I leave a tip? Besides, its a self-serve yogurt place?! read more

I am quite a fan of this place from the handful of time I have been here. I like the flavor selection that they swap out every so often slightly to keep things new and exciting. The toppings they offer for you to put on your yogurt are very vast as well. The price is a bit steep depending on how much you get, but it's definitely worth it. I've never really considered myself a FroYo person. Nothing against it, really, but also nothing I'd ever go out of my way for. Fast forward to my trip into Yogurt City yesterday... maybe I AM a FroYo person after all! My wife loves this place and has been stopping in here periodically with the kids. But being as I'm not a FroYo person (or so I thought), I'd always sat those ventures out. I wound up coming along, finally, and am truly glad I did. I'm no connoisseur but this was truly the best frozen yogurt I'd ever had. The cheesecake and pistachio flavors side-by-side in a bowl were sensory perfection in the mouth even unadorned with toppings. But combining a bit of white chocolate syrup, crumbled Heath bar, and cheesecake bites, on top of the cheesecake FroYo was nothing short of a peak yogurt experience for me. I can barely even recall what I did with the pistachio flavor (it involved crushed graham cracker) but it was nearly as delicious. Will absolutely for sure be coming back here. Can't wait. The best part of this place is the enormous amount of topping choices they have. The fruit toppings are super fresh. The staff are helpful and friendly as well. The yogurt is average. The service is average. The prices are high. When I walked in, I asked for taster cups. The employee had broken English and acted like she did not understand. Very comparable to Sweet Earth across the street in my opinion. Again with the sample cups, wth? At sweet earth they wouldn't let me get my own sample, and here, I couldn't even find any haha. Man they're expensive! Between my friend and I we got two different combinations of ice cream. On over the half of the ice cream dispensers was a sign "sorry under maintenance we charging our recipe" there was only a handful wired flavors available. The flavors were plain and watery. This is our go-to FroYo place and we love stopping by while enjoying downtown Royal Oak. Staff have always been pleasant and flavors and toppings are great (we normally just do fruit, so I can't comment on the selection of other toppings, but it seems like there is a lot to choose from!). We were in tonight and it was very busy. There was only one staff member working, but she remained professional and friendly despite the demands of holding it down on her own. So true about all of the comments about the lady who hounds for tips! It's quite awful and as another reviewer said, it's self service, why would I tip on an already expensive bill! She follows you around and hovers and continues to ask for tips even after you've paid and want to enjoy your treat. My family and I have actually left the building because it was so obnoxious! So on the outside , this looks like your typical yogurt self serve place with toppings.. and you pay by the weight. Tables for seating. And a pretty decent sized space. I was skeptical at first. Why should I go in? Spend my calories on yogurt?!? My I am the curious sort so I at least stepped in. The toppings are standard. Sorry Sweet Earth! You close too early for me and I had to have frozen yogurt. I liked these flavors better anyways. Vanilla is good and the vegan raspberry was tasty too. I tried a little of the white chocolate, yum! I like the fresh fruit on mine but they have a nice variety of toppings. The place was clean and neat with comfortable seating. Contrary to the name, Yogurt City is not a city made of actual yogurts like "Dannon" or "Fage". Disappointing as it may seem, Yogurt city still has about a dozen yogurts that you can top with syrups, fruit, candy and even cereals. Question, if you top frozen yogurt with cereal does it make it a breakfast? I think it does. The only downside to this is you tend to overload your yogurt with chocolate, gummy bears and sprinkles that you don't need. This gets expensive. A small cup of frozen yogurt cost me nearly $6. I could buy two gallons of yogurt from Kroger for that much. For that price, I would expect my yogurt to have a probiotic. Someone get Jamie Lee Curtis on the line to help my out. The yogurt soft serve was good however, the staff made the environment very unpleasant. I went In twice with in a week and dealt with the same woman forcing me to tip her. Literally taking my change and putting it in her tip jar without asking. Also, making remarks such as "you look rich you don't need this" I was extremely offended. The second time going I saw the same woman again and sure enough she tried to force the tip. Telling me " I take care of you, you take care of me" when I did not respond she said again when I cashed out "you take care of me?" Pointing at her tip jar. This was my last straw. Great variety of Froyo! Yea a little pricey but you pay by the weight and is priced with competitors in the area. They usually have rasberry and strawberry and my fiance loves those tart berry flavors, they seem to be one of the few places in the area that are consistant with carrying them. I REALLY dislike how when you asl for sample cups they don't give them to you. An employee comes and does it for you, they don't let you taste test yourself. read more

I always enjoy taking my daughter to the yogurt stands. So fun to see her pick and choose all the wonderful goodies. My experience was very nice. But I agree with others, a tip jar at a self serve is a bit awkward. I did drop a dollar because we only got one light weight serving and I happen to have it in my pocket so I didn't experience the pressure that I sadly see in others reviews. That is cringy to say the least. These are new owners and will find their way or wonder where everyone went with their 'tips'.
